I have saltwater leftovers can I also use that, just a little?
njw1383 (26 дней назад)
Not quite sure what you mean by left overs? Marine salt is good to use.
Elsa192016 Alicia (1 месяц назад)
Did you use regular table salt?

I have some mollies that seem to have parasites. It is only a few raised scales w/ white protrusion less than 1 mm sticking out, so I think it is body flukes. Mollies are actually brackish animals that can be (slowly) acclimated to full marine strength saltwater, so in addition to putting API General Cure in the tank & feeding anti-paracite fish flakes, I also have added more & more salt to the tank over time, until it is about 1/2 the way to ocean strength saltwater..... bu t it still keeps coming back. Not sure what to do......

I have a goldfish, she has red blotches (most likely anchor worms) but she's also having a problem steadying herself in the water... Is this normal with parasites, or does she have a swim bladder problem

I use aquarium or Epsom salt to kill ick. Garlic works well too, and the fish will eat it

Table salt is deadly to your fish! Sea salt for Koi ponds.

I read plenty of good opinions on the net about how exactly Womezon Remedy (just search it on google) can help you cures your infection safely. Has anyone tried using this popular infection home remedy?
Darian Gregory (2 года назад)
I disagree on one thing here. DO NOT USE TABLE SALT! It has a caking agent and it's iodized. It can be deadly to fish.

This is incorrect information on Darian's part. See aquarium Co Op for details on why he is so wrong.

Did I hear you say table salt is fine? No. This will hurt or even kill fish. Has to be aquarium salt, or Epsom salt without any additives depending on what you are doing or treating.
Jack Nolan (1 месяц назад)
No it doesnt. So silly, its a MYTH.
ken wood (2 месяца назад)
I used sea salt from my local dept store to cure ich on my gold fish and it worked out fine..
Yellow Pleco Caverns (2 месяца назад)
The argument against table salt is that, even if it is not iodized, it probably contains "anti-caking" compounds to keep it from sticking together in little clumps. Many fish can tolerate it in small amounts, but it's like you won't die if you jog behind a car w/ busted muffler spewing black smoke in your face - it is still bad for you even if it does not kill you. Interestingly, if you but "Aquarium Salt" at the local fish store, it is also NaCl like table salt - just very pure w/out any iodine or anti-caking ingredients. "Marine Salt" mixes like Instant Ocean & Kent's Marine are a much more complex cocktail of chemicals designed to mimic the PH as well as salt content of ocean water for marine tanks.
Christopher Frazier (7 месяцев назад)
Funny because every expert fish keeper I know uses table salt or sea salt without any problems. Who run successful businesses and treat sick fish. Nicole's advice is right up there with, "Use carbon in your tank," and, "Be sure to switch out cartridges every month." also a classic, "One gallon per fish." or "all little snails are pest snails!" Not really people's fault, ton of false information out there. You never use carbon, you don't need to do anything but use a sponge intake and biorings, and how many fish you have depends on space and size obviously. But it has the most to do with the good bacteria in your tank and how much space you have to create as many good bacteria as possible. Snails tell you how good your fish tank is doing, they don't eat live plants only dead plants and you can literally control their population by not overfeeding. But "Aquarium salt" is the industry's equivalent of "filter cartridges", Aquarium salt is just salt in a different bag to take your money, as are filter cartiridges - when you can just buy a bunch of bio rings or bio balls to put in your filter that will last 25 years. Or get a sponge filter and clean it in 2 minutes once a month. But yes table salt is fine.

I see a lot of people keep on talking about Womezon Remedy (just google search it). But I'm uncertain if it is good. Have you ever tried using this popular women issue home remedy?
Ironiic zero (3 года назад)
how many teaspoons or tablespoons would i need per gallon. i dont normally use ounces
colinbarsby (3 года назад)
+Ironiic zero I use 1 teaspoon per gal. directly in my tank for all the fish, instead of a stronger individual salt bath. Much easier, and still highly effective. Stop all feeding, increase aeration to maximum for 24 hours a day, followed by daily 10% water changes. Works well for me.

How often?!? If his condition stays the same, when do I give in & get stronger meds (3 days, a week)? BTW, if you have worm like hairs in your feces, u have worms! Although some parasites are useful in treating autoimmune diseases; u might wanna take care of it before anemia, malnutrition, gout... sets in. ;)

Kid.. normal salt kill your fish..
YATES (4 года назад)
big mistake a lot of people make with a planted tank is adding aquarium salt to the tank instead of salt bathing them. Even the slightest amount of the salt is deadly to plants, very few species can tolerate salinity.
James Meloy (9 месяцев назад)
The oceans and every brackish water way would disagree. Know what you are putting in your take. Very few plants and fish species can live in hard water. Your statement is counterintuitive.
bob wehadababyitsaboy (2 года назад)
i add 2 tsp aquarium salt and 2 tsp epsom salt per 5 gallons to my planted tanks and have never had any plants die as a result
njw1383 (4 года назад)
Agreed. Maybe I should have mentioned this in the video

Really helpful tip. But just wondering will the salt get rid of itch that is hanging onto the fins of the fish. My fish fins have the itch, Any suggestions please let me know.
njw1383 (4 года назад)
Hi, yes you could try a salt bath. Also try raising the temp in your tank above 86F for a few days as this will help fight off the ich. You may need to nedicate the whole tank though if the fish are in a bad way. Hope that helps
UK FISH KEEPER (4 года назад)
That's great, that is just what i needed to know, i have had this problem before and spent a fortune on meds for the poor little fish, Thanks for sharing :o)

Melafix is ok if you dont have a huge tank to treat and a bottomless pit of money lol. Its goos stuff though! Pimafix or primafix is good as well. Think that's to help the fish to a speedy recovery.

NoMoneyLife (5 лет назад)
good info but mis-leading , it can work wonders for many fish , and it can also kill many fish , they need to know all the info about each fish in the tank before salt doseing , good vid!
NoMoneyLife (5 лет назад)
i think it smells good too :p
James Conrey Aquatics (5 лет назад)
I personally use Melafix and only Melafix. It treats the entire tank and avoids the possible issue that other fish could catch the illness, disease, whichever the case. :)
Hmoob Thor (5 лет назад)
I won't use just ANY table salt unless you are making sushi for dinner..
