Robots Can Help Do Heart Surgery

10 ratings | 1345 views
People who need to have their heart’s mitral valve repaired may be candidates for robotically assisted heart surgery instead of open-heart surgery. The robotic option avoids the need to cut into the chest, which usually translates to less bleeding and pain and a quicker recovery -- without compromising safety or outcomes.

Marvelous technology. I had a mitral valve repaired at Cleveland Clinic the old fashioned way in 2007, still going strong. Back then the DaVinci robot was still new, and I chose traditional surgery because I wanted to minimize time on the pump. With today's technology that is no longer a concern. Do it!
