Infant have ldl cholesterol between 30 to 70. How they developes brain with such low cholesterol levels?
Cholesterol is essential but we dont need high cholesterol. If you eat unprocessed plant food diet without added oil then your cholesterol will be very low.
The side effects of statins are not due to lower cholesterol, because if low cholesterol is responsible for dementia then why people eating high saturated fat have more risk of dementia?

You say taking statins increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. My doctor diagnosed my type 2 first, gave me medication for that then included statins on top of it. So do they make the diabetes worse even with medication?
My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's after having been put on Lipitor for a cholesterol level of 204. She lost her ability to talk to us. What came out was not intelligible. I finally got them to take her off Lipitor, by pointing out in a PDR that it could be responsible. It was at the end in small print, but she was one of those who never recovered cognition. I found a study on the Mededex where I worked where they tested it on 60 people. At doses over 10mg, they lost cognitive function. When the drug was stopped, some had cognitive function return and some did not. If you love your parent, do not let them take this. Cholesterol can be lowered by avoiding high cholesterol foods like eggs, bacon, sausage, and other high fat foods. Non fat free milk, for instance, will raise it in a hurry. I've tested that one myself. All I had to do was stop drinking 2% milk in my iced coffees. My mother died of Alzheimer's in her sixties, a few years after she was diagnosed. I might also add that she was started at a high dose, and she changed her diet as well. Her cholesterol went down into the 140s, but her doctor refused to lower the dose, or take her off, even though I pointed out that she'd lowered her cholesterol with diet. If you have a doctor who runs labs every 3 months and does nothing with the results, find one who cares about you.
I smuggled in red yeast rice form Hong Kong during the time that the FDA forced companies to remove the lovastain(SP) from the red yeast rice sold in America. I had the same bad effects of tearing muscles and depression that I got from a whole string of attempts from Lipitor and all it clones. I tried 4 or 5 statins before the Red Yeast and they were all problematic for me. I then tried Zetia which was not a stain and very expensive. Finally I gave up on all the cholesterol drugs and my torn muscles mostly healed themselves with CoQ10. But I didn't know that my depression was related until about 3 weeks after throwing all that crap out, it also went away. That was 10 years ago . I am now 69 haven't had a stroke or heart attack yet. That's my story but everyone is different.
The doctor scared me with saying if I did not take them I would die soon. Three months later yes, the bloody drug was killing me so stopped against strong advice. Changed my diet, now 71 and I am fine! And what did I change? Margarine back to butter!
Mike Croft ......I'm almost 76......I also refuse statins ...I had body pains from all except Lovestatin , which for some reason the doctors were always trying to change me back to other ones....now , I take nothing for clholeterol, and do fine ...I do try to eat right and take supplements , including iodine , which helps against the high radiation of today's living.....
I have been diagnosed with hardening of the arteries, moderate to advanced to all three arteries to the heart. I have been referred to a Cardiologist who will prescribe statins. The last time I took them, I had such severe pains in my legs, I couldn’t walk. High cholesterol is genetic within my family and has nothing to do with diet. I lost my brother and my nephew to heart disease. I don’t want to take statins, but neither do I want to have a heart attack or a stroke.

You are led to believe that your case is genetic, but in truth epigenetics has an on and off switch.
We suffer from inflammation and stress which expresses itself in disease. Long term stress tears down our immune system and causes an imbalance of the gut floral and causes leaky gut. Also our nervous system which controls EVERYTHING in our body is in trouble and our skeletal system is also out of wack which in turn destroys your health.
All of this together causes disease and high cholesterol and high blood pressure are indicators there is something else wrong. The doctors don't want or don't have time to figure out what the main cause is so they give you a pill and send you home. They are not interested in a cure......and don't even get me started about flu shots and vaccines. Trust me. I worked at a funeral home for 30 years.......I know what goes on behind the scenes.
Find the root of your problem and get the cure. Trust me.....there is one if you do the research.
I know.....I know......it's time consuming to do research, but it just might save your life and give you better quality of life.

I am still on the mend from the damage pharma has caused me......but I am waaaaayyyyy better than when I was on their regimen.
I thought I was eating healthy and was also doing exercise. Lost over 100 pounds and have kept it off for over 4 years. However, I was still eating some toxins I THOUGHT were healthy (they easily fool ya into thinking some health foods are ok.......they are NOT).
However, go check out Dr. Bergman. Take what works for you and leave the rest.

Thank you. I have just had a procedure to test my heart under pressure. He took my heart rate up to 150! and told me my heart was excellent and there is some calcification but he didn’t appear concerned. I shall know more when I see him in clinic.
My cholesterol was broken down. Everything was normal the bad cholesterol was 4.4 and the good 5.9.
I don’t drink and never have done. I don’t smoke. I eat a healthy diet; I exercise regularly and am not overweight. It’s genetic. There is nothing else that I can do to help myself.
Maybe when is see my GP on Monday and relay the Cardiologist’s findings, he may leave the decision of treatment to him.

I'm having the same problem with statins so I lowered the dosage a bit, improved my diet, quit smoking , taking some q10 supplement and cut alcohol to a minimum. Hopefully that will help control this side effect.. I wouldn't go against the studies that show they do have benefits for those who are high risk. If you have to get stents in your arteries, you'll have to take even a lot more meds.
Lowers cholesterol ONLY by 15% go natural, change your diet don't smoke don't drink eliminate salt sugar and fats read labels eat fresh not processed portion control is very key . Its it says 1 cup ONLY eat 1 cup . It does work .

Helen Mclean I only use Apple cider and balsamic vinegar and lemon juice in my salad plus I eat only when I'm hungry too not three times a day like most. Sometimes I ate only once and I still had lots of energy. It's all about eating in very small portions I weight everything except my salad because it all plant based except the vinager and the 15 kidney beans I put in it . Stay away from sodium as much as you can and sugars too and of course carbs. I know you know all this but I like to share . Oh, I'd limit even the fruit, too much sugar even in fruit. Fitness people will not even touch fruit. I buy green seedless grapes and freeze them and have like five grapes every other day but that's it . Plus I try to drink water as much as I can but before the high blood pressure I'd consume 128oz of water a day but now maybe 40 oz . My body is not calling for it since most of my foods are water based . Sorry for the bad sentence structure and lack of punctuation.
Thanks for getting back to me. I live in London. It’s 00.55 hours and I can’t sleep. I am truly very upset. I have never, even as a child, had a sweet tooth. I always cook fresh foods. I don’t like and don’t eat refined carbs. My diet consists of fresh green veg and salad. fruit, but only berries. Fish, fresh and smoked salmon. Chicken. I only eat when I’m hungry and stop when I’ve had sufficient. I never eat cakes, biscuits or anything sweet. I don’t take sugar in my tea.
My blood pressure is 116/76. I exercise. I’m slim. But my cholesterol is 6.7 and I have hardening of the arteries!
I shall seek out some natural remedies. I’ve been told that Cider Apple Vinegar could help, but my doc scoffed that idea off!
Helen Mclean I too have high cholesterol and now high blood pressure but im not letting pills control my life, well at least the cholesterol and blood pressure medication the thyroid and anti seizure medication is different . I've lost almost 15 pounds in like two weeks with a no sodium and extremely small portions of food, mostly salads and plain potatoes with on occasion a 4 oz piece of potched chicken

He says statins shut down the body's ability to make cholesterol. I had very high cholesterol, take statins, now have borderline high cholesterol. Nothing was shut down. I'm still making it. Also if cholesterol isn't bad like he says, why should I take red yeast rice?
Secondinsight ......you're playing with a loaded gun taking statins... my knee joints were DESTROYED by taking statins for just 6 months... that was 7 or so years ago & to this day they throb with pain getting out of bed & going to bed & every moment in between... my advice is to seek alternatives & STOP taking this poison ... u may be one of the lucky ones with no side-effects... SO FAR... Dr. Berg is a GREAT resource on youtube & has many great educational videos u might like... good luck...

Spoil the party time .... High cholesterol has nothing whatsoever to do with heart disease.
Just as many people die of heart disease with LOW cholesterol as high ... Take note: 25% of your cholesterol is in your Brain: To reduce it is playing with fire. Albeit of concern, that the high usage of Statins runs almost in tandem with the high increase in Dementia in the elderly.
One further note: Your cholesterol numbers generally relate to each individual.
But one point to reflect on: It's not the numbers, in terms of cholesterol, that need concern you:
IT'S THE QUALITY OF YOUR CHOLESTEROL THAT IS IMPORTANT ... eg ... You may have the lowest cholesterol in the world ... BUT IF THE QUALITY OF YOUR CHOLESTEROL IS GARBAGE ..... THEN YOU'VE GOT A PROBLEM

Not surprisingly, if you want to gain lean weight and find it hard, you should NOT DO DIntermittent fasting. In fact you should aim to do the opposite. Eat often.
Try to eat at least every three hours, if possible even more often. Snack, but choose healthy options. 15 quick weight-gain:Add a big piece of cheese to your daily lunch.
Replace one drink of water each day with whole milk.
Add a protein shake to your breakfast.
Drink hot chocolate each day made from coconut milk and cocoa powder.
Add cream to your tea/coffee. If you already do, then double it.
Eat an additional avocado each day.
Add a few tablespoons of your favorite oil to your meal (coconut/olive oil are good).
Sleep for longer than you have been doing; sleep is when you grow.
