I was recently prescribed Lisinopril for high blood pressure. I had a terrible side effect with a bad dry cough. The cough was 24/7. It can persist for weeks even if you stop taking Lisinopril. Stay away from this medicine if possible and ask your doctor for an alternative.
Same thing happened to me. Absolutley horrible cough.
I stopped taking it for 2 weeks, the cough went away. I started taking half my dose again.....and the caugh came back.
I switched to losartan. I gotta take more losartan to keep my B.P. just right.....but it works. Unfortunatley, the doc doesnt think i can make any lifestyle changes to control my b.p. Im not overweight, my cholesterol is in a good range for my age (38). Its just heriditary, so ill be taking medicine for the rest of my life. Therefore, its important to find a medicine that has no negative side effects.
I just found my problem, I was having such a miserable life and it was only 5 months that I took it, my husband was hating my cough, he said to me exaggerated, and today my doctor as if nothing says to me is the lisinopril do not worry in 4 weeks already changing your cough will go !!!!!
I'm a 58 overweight male. I started taking Lisinopril and I developed a dry cough (about 12 cough fits a day) went back to see my Dr. He told me all ACE inhibitors cause a dry cough (diuretic effect) Since my cough isn't that bad and it doesn't mess with my sleep; He told me to stay on it.
I was lucky I never had coughing with Lisinopril. I wonder if it's because I always took it on a full stomach. One day I'd still like to get off of them. My thyroid meds causes my blood pressure problem.
I have been taking this medication for 15 years with no issues. My BP stays at 125/70 more or less. It's only bad if it doesn't work for you, most it does work for. All BP Meds have these same warnings on them, just check it out everyone so it's trial & error BTW if you are going to toss those pills and they 20 MG send them to me! This goes for the rest of the Lisinopril pill taking world!~
I was on Lisinopril for a good two years before that cough developed. I finally had enough of the constant coughing and had my doctor switch me to Losartan. Within two weeks, the cough was nearly gone, now it's over a year later, still no cough.
My doctor prescribed Lisinopril for my HBP and I have been taking it for two weeks now. I do have a dry cough and feels like I can't breathe in too deep or I start coughing as if I have bronchitis. Also, I do not know if it is true or not, but I read that Lisinopril was made from the venom from a Brazilian snake! Geeesh!
My friend , this Army vet has been prescribed lisinopril 20mg twice per day. I have been feeling all the symptoms from acid reflux, ulcer, diarrhea, headache, memory loss, sometimes too low of blood pressure feeling faint and weak. This year after the flu, all hell broke loose. PERSISTENT DRY COUGH. In the past two month, I visited my provider at 30 day with the story. She gave me more acid prevent pills. Two weeks later I claim to have a Dry cough attack. She gave me 100 mg of benzonatate 3 per day for cough. This if chewed can kill in 24 hours after ingested, must be swallowed. I stopped the lisinopril and trying other natural methods to lower press.. Mucinex and other med can relief for a moment. This is what happens at the VA Health system.
I went on a whole food plant based diet and got rid of HCTZ and lowered my lisinopril fm 40 to 20md a day. Same with lipitor lowered fm 10mg a day to 10mg every other day. When they tell you you're on these drugs for life don't believe it. I'm hoping to be drug free by 2019.
I started taking it 3 weeks ago and the last 10 days have been pure hell insofar as the cough. I stopped last night when I discovered it was the drug that was responsible. Anybody know how long it'll take before this cough subsides since I'm recently off of this drug
the side effects I had came on after years of using Lisinopril. It can happen anytime. Dry cough was minor compared to akathisia. side effects warning call it motor restlessness. that's just a way the drug companies switch terms around to avoid telling the truth. akathisia is pure hell.
I took it in the summer at first I was dizzy and nauseated for the first month or so...my cough wasn't too bad.. after a month...I started feeling better....with proper diet....and exercise and drinking lots of water...After 9 months my kidneys function better..BPressure is under control....Medicine affects everyone differently...I take a small dose every night
Who im kidding all medication has side effects and adverse effects we all know that, if some side effects call your md so he or she can change your medication there is a lot of highblood medication not just lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide yeah i can speak and spell generic names i study for that
Blood pressure is not a good indicator of health but IS a good indicator of scared sheep BIg Pharma can make money on you. In Germany they find ways to RAISE your BP so nutrients in blood can reach ALL your body parts. Those new BP machines in doctor offices squeeze your arm so hard you want to scream, The more upset you are the higher BP, the higher the BP the more big pharma can sell you drugs. #BigPharmaHell #FakeNarrative$
You're right. My wife takes it with no issues. But after one dose, I had a serious backache that subsided the next day. But after 2 or 3 days, I had that terrible cough. Thank God, I was aware that it was a side effect. And stopped taking it, Asap. However, it's been 3 days, since I last took any, and that nagging cough, is still present. Bummer!
I've been on it for a month. I've had same exact problem. I'm getting off and now I'm going to start Carditone natural supplements. I've heard nothing but amazing, quick drastic changes. You should try it.
Hey Steve I just got off lisinopril too. I had the same itchy cough except I was going through it for at least 3 months so it's going to take 3 weeks to a month for it to go away. Thanks for the service announcement.
I’ve been on this for years. I now cough, oxygen drops, heart palpitations. For years it was blamed on anxiety...possibly some part of it...but after having test after test done with no findings...these little guys could be the culprit! Are you taking no meds now?
I had the cough from this crap for over year.. only found out it was lisinopril when I couldn't afford it over a summer.. damn near ruined my life.. going on and off of different antibiotics because the doctor didn't know what it was.. ruined my knees with Levaquin trying to heal the cough.. and the steroids that helped the cough but ruined my feet.. softened ligaments and tendons and etc.. just bad shit.. now I gotta get off of Clonidine.. an even worse drug..
All medicines have side effects, and all patients have different reactions to various medicines. I'm sorry if your doctor didn't discuss any potential side effects with you, but that doesn't make Lisinopril a "bad medicine"--it's just not good for you. It's saved a lot of lives, and many people tolerate it very well.
Lots of people are on lisinopril without side effects. When it comes to blood pressure meds you have to find the right one for you. I have had horrible side effects with carvedilol, including extreme fatigue, nausea, muscle spasms etc. consider yourself lucky your side effect was only a cough. However saying this is a bad medicine is not accurate as this may be the prefect med for others.
this pill almost killed being just one week on it , heart palpitations , racing pulse , severe vertigo , nausea, lack of appetite , depression , fatigue , kidney
soreness, 6 days off and i feel like a champ , do your research people !!! This is one bad Drug
After a year I did not get the cough but very slightly, BUT IT DID give me constant phlegm in my throat to where you keep clearing it, and makes you hoarse. and the other wondrous side effect is ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION!!!! screw this drug..
i am prescribed this and i watched your experience b4 taking a single pill. i hate coughing and won't take this stuff now. the doc did say it might cause a cough.
so, what is a good blood pressure medicine to take?
I can't stop coughing and I really don't know why she switched my medicines. I was doing well with labetalol so she can switch me back to that. I'm so tired of coughing during the day and night, just tired. I'm going to call her Monday morning asap!
Ever since I was 26 years old, I had been already encountering hypertension and I needed to take medicine. This is the first blood pressure level solution “yumkum shocking guide” (G00GLE it) which has ever actually worked to lessen my pressure by natural means. Within a month of following the advices in the book, there wasn`t any need for me to consume all of my medication.
I was prescribed benezapril, amd i developed the cough. This guy is not joking!. It's like a fingernail clawing your throat until you give into the coughing. Then i cough until my eyes go bloodshot and i almost throw up. then my throat even feels swollen. It is literally destroying my life. I distrupt my coworkers, my family, and I cant sleep with anyone, even myself.
Thanks! I have been on it for three weeks. I developed a bad cough that got worse and worse, until it was almost constant, day and night. About once or twice a day it would get a dizzy head rush that would make me almost feel like I was going to pass out. It is an awful feeling. Over the last couple of nights, I quit taking the medication, and the cough is starting to go way, a little at a time. Awful!
I have had high blood pressure & taking drugs since I was Twenty six years old. This is the first blood pressure level remedy “yumkum shocking guide” (G00GLE it) which has ever actually worked to lower my pressure naturally. Within a month of pursuing the advices in the book, there was no need for me to drink all of my medicine.
I agree. It actually causes my bp to spike to levels unseen before starting this medication. About the 24 hr mark after dosing my bp is ridiculously high -- wtf is this stuff? Are they trying to fucking kill people??
I spent 11 years on lisinopril, I've been off for 2 months it was like waking up from a bad nightmare. Depression, anxiety, blood clots, swollen joints, feet and lips.
I feel like I'm in my 20s again, get off it-

I had been on this stuff for almost a year and suddenly it began making my heart pound and race under the slightest stress. Also short on breath. I was only taking 5 mg in the morning, but decided to stop taking it to see if the symptoms subsided. I began feeling better the next day, and was feeling my old self in 2 days. Of course my BP went back up. I'm now looking to get a new prescription for another drug.
I told my doctor, this shouldn't even be on the market! I was on it for nine weeks. The first six weeks I didn't have any symptoms. I was driving on a 2-lane hwy, and all of a sudden started seeing zig-zag lines in my peripheral vision. Freaked me out! It lasted about 20 minutes. The next day I was seeing black spots out of one eye. I already have anxiety, so this began a series of panic attacks. Really bad, waking up at 4 am, heart racing. This went on for a week. Major, major anxiety on this medication. Then the cough started. One day on a weekend I just couldn't take it anymore. I called the on-call doctor and told her I'm stopping it immediately. It's been 11 days, and I STILL have the cough! How long did the cough last for you?
Appreciate Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you tried - Millawdon Sustaining Life Trick (do a google search)? It is a good one off product for getting rid of high blood pressure without the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend Sam got cool success with it.
I`ll attest to the effectiveness of the “yuku shocking plan” (look it to G00GLE) that deals with blood pressure. I`ve attempted other items with minimum results. This is the first that does what it says. My blood pressure level has been persistently running at about 145/90. Under normal conditions, my Blood pressure is now 120/70.
This blood pressure level solution “yumkum shocking guide” (G00GLE it) is clear, exact, and easy to understand. I experienced this in probably 2 nights. In combination with a blood pressure level monitor I picked up I was able to take my pressure below 148/98 on Thanksgiving to 116/78 in about a month.
I, too, had that horrid dry cough all the time. I was given lisinopril a few years ago, and finally, after research, discovered my cough was a side effect of the drug! I went off due to better BP for several years, and this time, I forgot all about that damn cough when prescribed the lisinopril again. After 2 weeks, i asked for a different med. I seem to have no issues wit the losartan i am now taking. Yay!
GodsGiftToHumanity yes it is no fun I'm in and out of hospital a couple of times a week to every other week because the headaches I get from dialysis are so severe and have had one problem after another going on lately I can't understand why I've had a blood clot last week in my access arm but it worked fine but arm swelled up so big and was extremely painful then panic attacks make it that much worse I'm always tachycardic half the time which tires me out but yea it sucks to live with this disease
even otc deugs can have serious side effects. my boss took 2 of my zantac he thought was ibuprofin. an hour later we had to call 911 he thought he was having a heart attack. side effects of zantac...chest pain
Been on this for years and I cough all the time. But it's the best one to keep my bp stable. It causes a lot of problems for me. I'm now trying to get it in check with diet so maybe I can get off of it.
worked fine for me. ace inhibitors are great for kidneys and also dilate blood vessels. if your heart is already damaged from years of untreated hypertension, ace inhibitors have a repairing effect on the heart tissue as well. i take 40 mgs a day and i haven't coughed yet although in some people (such as my brother) it does have a dry cough side effect. Still a great drug! i also take 80mgs of a calcium channel blocker 3 times per day. these drugs reduce the amount of oxygen needed by the heart muscle by slowing the heart rate. with this combination i went from 200/160 to 125/65 and feel much better.
I avoided doctors for years until my BP got so high 2 months ago and was prescribed Lisinopril 1 week before my 1st cataract surgery. I read that the side effect was "dizziness" so I took it at night. Shortly after taking it, I started coughing uncontrollably at meetings and other events and suffered many sleepless nights till 3 or 4 in the morning. But my main concern was the pressure coughing is doing on my EYE. So I took Mucinex Cough medicine religiously for 2 weeks before my 2nd cataract surgery with NO SUCCESS. I could not put a price tag at the many sleepless nights, the worries coughing is doing on my eyes, the Mucinex that I ingested for 2 weeks, the embarassment of coughing so much around people that I had to excuse myself and ran out, and the many thoughts of having my throat x-rayed, vacuummed and scrubbed. I like my doctor but I had to ding him for this prescription. It has been 1 week since the divorce with Lisinopril and my cough is slowly diminishing. I'm hoping that in week 2, it will be gone for good so I can start my new med.
Sorry to hear about the reaction you got from this med. I have been taking it since 1999 when it was called Zestril. I have no side effects from it at all. It is the only BP med I have been able to take! I have had other serious side effects from other BP meds. Anywhere from headaches, being real tired and could not work to actual electrical shocks! Just like someone was hitting me with an electrical cord! I can't believe I have been able to take this BP Med after all the ones they had tried me on before. God Bless!
Thanks for the video! Li-SIN-opril does have persistent cough in the warnings, and my health professional told me to expect it. It was annoying and embarrassing at times, but I just kept taking it. I'm now off of it and experimenting with other drugs and natural methods, so that I can take lithium orotate for my bipolar and PTSD, a natural mineral, very inexpensive over the counter supplement that I actually discovered here on YouTube!
This stuff has killed numerous people. It can cause something called Angioedema where your tongue , throat etc. swells up and suffocates you. First my lips swelled up last week so I took some benadryl and they went back to normal in a couple days. Early this morning my friggen tongue swelled up hugely on one side. I took 3 benadryl and they did nothing. I was really worried so I drove myself to the ER. When I told the Dr. that I was taking Lisinopril she new immediately what the culprit was. They gave me a shot in the but of steroid and a couple of, I think, Zertek pills. They would have also given me Benadryl but I had already taken enough of that. About 3 hours later I was back to normal. If the left side of my tongue would have swollen like the right side I would likely be dead right now. I GUESS THIS IS MY LUCKY DAY. I better go buy a lotto ticket. Google "lisinopril deaths", and warn your friends who use it. It has many, many bad side effects for some people. I took it for 3 years and never had a problem. Then bang.
The class of drugs that Levitra, Viagra, Stendra, and Cialis belong to are called PDE5 inhibitors. They work by relaxing tight blood vessels, allowing more blood to surge into the penis and cause an erection, says Gregory Bales, M.D., an associate professor of urology at the University of Chicago.
The little pills do the trick for more than two-thirds of men with Viagra protects the heart (ED). They also work for guys who simply need them for a short time to get their “confidence back,” says Michael Eisenberg, M.D., director of male reproductive medicine and surgery at Stanford University.
