Newly crowned Miss World Japan Priyanka Yoshikawa has credited the Indian side of her heritage for her pageant success, in the face of ongoing debate over who should qualify as beauty queens representing Japan.
There has been ongoing debate in Japan over the ethnicity of beauty queens after the first bi-racial Miss Universe Japan, Ariana Miyamoto – whose father is African American and mother is Japanese – was criticized by some on social networks for not looking Japanese enough.
Yoshikawa embraces her heritage with pride. She says does not consider being labelled “ha-fu” - taken from the English world “half” - as people of multiple-race are often referred to in Japan, as derogatory.
Born to an Indian father and Japanese mother, 22-year-old Yoshikawa has lived in the United States and India as a child, but calls Japan her home.
Yoshikawa spent a year living in Kolkata when she was nine – an experience she says transformed her life. Seeing poverty up close as a child shocked her, but motivated her to aspire to making a difference.

Japan really should get over the whole “not pure Japanese” bullshit, because people are more than just their ethnicity and it doesn’t objectively take away from their ability to be beautiful and / or successful via ways that don’t involve race.
It’s ludicrous to think about...that they’re so far ahead in technology, of course, transport, architecture but when it comes to people and social issues, they’re very much behind and it’s as if they’re stuck in the medieval times of the western world.
I’m sure part of why mixed race kids are so rare in Japan is because Japanese women decide to live elsewhere and have kids in the country they choose to immigrate to...as part of why is it’s more likely to not be a racist piece of shit that always goads on about purity of race and all that.
Mixed race individuals are generally more smart, good-looking and taller than their two fully ethnic parents. So, what gives? I’m glad to have grown up in a western culture.
Of course, it’s not just Japan. I’m sure this is probably _non-existent_ in South Korea, so in that manner, Japan’s doing okay in comparison. There are other countries, I’m sure at least a few in every continent, that are equally or even more xenophobic than the former.
no disrepect but this is for miss world japan right?
i've seen better looking half indian - east asian mix, how she win the competition?
and there are much better looking girls in japan.
did the judges give her some favoritism for some odd reason.
and having indian father, what she do throw out her indian last name? does she have shame about being half-indian?
Japan's custom is to keep father's sir name.....
She hardly looks Indian because Bengalis themselves look kind of Eastern. She really does look Bengali to a trained eye. To an untrained eye, she'll hardly look mixed or India because they've not seen enough Bengalis. Those Bengalis who've made it big in the glamor industry are mostly Caucasian-looking and from big Brahmin families.
Lots of ordinary Bengalis have a visible Mongoloid strain. It's not as extreme as Mamata Banerjee but it's there.
Lucid Dream well I'm not arguing with you here. I just made a statement that this girl looks both Indian and Japanese. At the same time I am aware of certain Indians that do favor Asians in feature because of their decent
S N so what, I wrote many Bengalis are looking like Mongoloid. But they are not hafu. Ariyana miyamoto also a hafu but not looking Mongoloid. Actually Bengali are Austro-Asiatic. Austro-Asiatic are anceste of all Asians.
+Katkit Kirti yes shes saying that and as you know she first went against that and said that she wasn't Indian and of course she was probably under a lot of pressure
To me she looks and acts more Japanese than an Indian and hope she can treasure her Indian side more and more and as you mentioned she now does that..
Besides Indian women are prettier than Japanese women who are in fact 99% Koreans..
I know Japan because been around here for 3 decades and I had great Indian friends during the 80s and 90s but in 1992 Japan immigration reform act forced most of my friends to return along with Persians and others like Pakistanis and bengaldashies. It was like a war against them
So she is a half and as you know in Japan they call anyone who's got one Japanese and one foreign parent as half but when that is between a Korean and Japanese citizen they don't say half..because Japanese are originally Koreans .
They also dislike what they call blasians who are half of a black person and Japanese . So Japan is not easy to cure just like Korea and China is.
But as you mentioned as long as she realized what to treasure she's on her way to new horizons ..
Inari Yu another Bengali Japanese famous icon Anita Bose Puff, the daughter of super hero Netaji Subhas Chandra. She also looking like Mongoloid. But previous miss world Japan Ariyana Miamoto is not looking Mongoloid features. So why Bengalis are looks Mongol ? Current West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also Mongoloid but not biracial.
Mohit robben Dev no brother your mom is not would be Caucasoid. Caucasoid is Western Indian. Kashmiri Marwari Rajasthani Punjabi and all Arab countries Western Asia to Europe you can find Caucasoid features. In Eastern Indians are Australoid. Mongolia, China, Koria, Japan are Mongoloid. Australoid are black skin colour, Mongoloid are white skin colour. Australoid is anceste of Mongoloid, for this reason SouthEast Asian are Austro-Asiatic. Southeast Asian are dominant by Mongoloid, Eastern Indian dominant by Australoid features. So mejority bengali fare skin colour comes from Southeast Asia or Eastern Asia.
The class of drugs that Levitra, Viagra, Stendra, and Cialis belong to are called PDE5 inhibitors. They work by relaxing tight blood vessels, allowing more blood to surge into the penis and cause an erection, says Gregory Bales, M.D., an associate professor of urology at the University of Chicago.
The little pills do the trick for more than two-thirds of men with Viagra protects the heart (ED). They also work for guys who simply need them for a short time to get their “confidence back,” says Michael Eisenberg, M.D., director of male reproductive medicine and surgery at Stanford University.
