The medical abortion--a non-surgical procedure that induces a miscarriage through a cocktail of pharmaceutical drugs--is both widely legal and increasingly hard to obtain. To understand the limits of what could be a breakthrough in making abortions easier to access, Broadly hears from both sides of the debate. We travel to the front lines of the battle in Texas, where religious protesters camp outside rapidly closing clinics, as well as to an abortion spa in Washington, DC, where employees are working to de-stigmatize the stupidly controversial procedure. Internationally, we talk to Dr. Rebecca Gomperts from the charity Women On Waves, the physician who recently began using drones to deliver the abortion pill to countries where the procedure is illegal, and we visit a pharmacy in Mexico to see how easy it is to access the abortion pill just across the border. What we really want to know is: Why is it so hard to get a medical abortion when so much research has shown that it's a safe, effective way to terminate a pregnancy?

Actually, there's no way to know if the pregnancy was fully expelled with the abortion pill. You would need a vaginal ultrasound to see if there are leftover products. You may still need a d&c anyways...If there are leftover products, it could result in infection or hemmorage or death. This is a painful process, an artificial miscarriage. I'm appalled by abortions in all forms. I understand why women pursue them, but if these women used female contraception with a condom, the incidence of accidentally pregnancy would be much lower. I don't think tax dollars should be used to exterminate fetuses aka future babies.
If you don't want to get pregnant then don't! Feminism has brainwashed you, delivered in the form of vox and broadly...
There is another option called the Del em. You ban the pill and you want something that is not dangerous such as taking a dodgy pill or other things more dangerous. The Del Em is a device that can be made to extract the baby from the womb. A person wanting an abortion can find out on line how to make one and the parts are not illegal to buy.
I wouldn't even think of arguing. Great. Now stop voting for lawmakers who want to stop women from accessing an abortion if they choose. I could not care any less what your reason is, the outcome is the important part.
I don't understand the stigma with abortion. I don't care if a woman has had one or 10 abortions. It is not my body, my life. I will not take care of her kids, only she would, so what say do I have? It is unfair that a woman has to give birth when she does not want it. Many children are unwanted. Go look at the orphanages. Why add more kids to that?
Another large comment thread on here had 2 pro-lifers telling people outside the US that we don't have orphanages here anymore. We do, 57 of them actually, so that is more than one per state. It just shows how completely clueless conservatives are and how they seem to be unable to find information.
Fuck pro-life idiots! Ive no respect for them after the thousands of deaths of women over the years whove tried to have invasive, dangerous aboritions with coathangers, bleach, etc. because they did not have access to SAFE, MEDICAL abortion
how about not get pregnant in the first place and no I don't mean rape victims, I'm mean the irresponsible people who don't try to do things correctly and just strait up don't care, if you know you can't afford a child or you just don't want one, don't fucking do it, or at least wear a fucking condom, there are things to avoid pregnancy a head of time, before you spread your legs, protect yourself, stopping being idiots, sex can fucking wait.
@all the idiots claiming abortion is wrong because killing innocent life is wrong: oh please, shut the fuck up. you don't actually give a rat's ass about the unborn fetus. innocent people are shot all the time without justice. innocent people are dying slowly of starvation. if you care so much about protecting life, why aren't you doing more to save the lives of those who are already living? that's right. it's because you don't actually care. you just want a say in other people's businesses. which, by the way, is selfish and wrong.
This is pretty much the core of the debate. The same people who claim to value human life so much oppose healthcare for all, hate food stamps, think WIC is too generous, want Section 8 dismantled and the list goes on. They don't value human life at all. Their actions show it.
I really appreciate Broadly taking the time to interview groups from both sides of the debate; however, I have no idea how she was able to listen to the guy from Texas without rolling her eyes and slapping his face. Kudos to your absolute professionalism.
People have no right to force women into pregnancy or motherhood. Pregnancy, miscarriage, childbirth and motherhood are supposed to choices and decisions made by women themselves. Creating laws, regulations or rules that restrict access to abortion will damage women throughout their lives.
imagine a situation when God forbid a girl gets raped and she gets pregnant do u think its fair that the girl does not have a choice whether she wants to abort or not I think it depends on certain situations. its not like women willingly want to abort. its a serious decision.
A lot of these "pro-life" people are male, which will never get pregnant. The women that are "pro-lifers" are a disappointment to the female sex. To these women I say have a fun life being a house wife with no purpose besides pleasing their husband and squeezing babies out and raising them to be ignorant like yourself.
That man did not just say "she might see a tiny baby come out"...........that statement in and of itself (sarcastic or not sarcastic) is the exact fucking reason he should in no way be drafting anything regarding the healthcare of women.
At around @20:00 when she was talking about how women don't "forgive" themselves after an abortion just breaks my heart. If seeking an abortion wasn't so stigmatized we would not have women that are guilt-ridden for something that is not even wrong. As an American, it pains me how the culture is not conducive to providing effective and safe reproductive care to women.
I think that it's wrong to force someone to have a child they don't want how is that solving anything there will be more unloved kids however I feel that if you are having sex you should be responsible so that won't happen sex isn't so good that you couldn't wait to put on a condom that's just irresponsible and stupid so you can get the abortion but don't be mad if people blame and judge you because it is your fault for not being responsible I'm not against abortions I'm against you the one who is irresponsible and only cares about how they're feeling when they want to have sex and doesn't care about the consequences behind that abortions should be for people who have been raped or have complications with pregnancy not for people who just went out and had fun and then one of having an accident grow up and be responsible for your own actions no one is going to pity you
me and my abusive ex boyfriend just broke up last month. this month i didnt have a period. i love kids (sometimes) but i dont want to bring this child to the world knowing his father will kick my door down again just because i have a baby by him. that would be depressing and stressful. i already have kids that he didnt mind hitting me on front of... so what will he do abt his own. i cant afford an abortion and i dont want to give it up for adoption because who knows if he'll be crazy like his dad and that would be punishment for an innocent family. God help me!!
War on women? Please. It's a war on abortion. Why do so many women cry sexism and make themselves appear to be victims all the time? The reason it seems like it's a war on women is because men don't get pregnant (obviously), so they can't exactly "get an abortion." And don't be hypocritical. The logic of aggressive pro-lifers (although not healthy or moral) is that, if you feel it's ok to kill your own baby because you don't want it to exist, why should it not be ok to kill _you_ because they don't want _you_ to exist?
I don't agree with the pro-lifers who take violent actions against women who want abortions. However, I do disagree with women who believe it's ok to have an abortion simply because they don't want it (mortal diseases, risk of death to the mother, incest, rape [I'm a little iffy on that one though], etc are things I am lenient on when it comes to abortion.
There is no such thing as an unwanted child. Some one out there in this world will want them. Should we just go around killing off orphans since they are "unwanted" children? No. Why? Because their lives are worth more than a fetus? Don't be ridiculous, those lives once _were_ a fetus. Humans don't just turn from something non-human to something human (except during fertilization). If you don't want to see that from a philosophical point of view, then look at it from a scientific point of view.
Scenario: A human sperm fertilizes a human egg. That fertilized egg become a ... Dog zygote? Flower zygote? Rabbit zygote, cow zygote? Pig zygote? A mass-of-nothing zygote (which, in that case, that zygote would grow and develop into a mass of nothing, not a human)? It becomes a human zygote. And that human zygote becomes... You guessed it, a human embryo. The process continues until the new being is developed enough to survive outside the womb (although with modern science, it "technically" could survive outside the womb if in the right conditions).
Forget all the "philosophy" about life beginning at conception. Life technically _does_ begin at conception since it now has all 46 chromosomes and all the biologic instructions that create a human being. _That_ is when each of ALL OF US begins our lives. Although, if you think life doesn't begin until you're outside of the womb then... I guess you can believe what you want to believe. It could be debated when exactly life starts, but I won't go into that right now.
*sigh* What the hell am I even commenting for? This issue of abortion will never be agreed upon. Humans are inherently selfish and self-centered (to a degree, of course; some more so than others), no matter what side they are on, and that will always create divide within the beliefs of individuals.
It is so heart breaking reading these comments. Once that sperm penetrates that egg, it is a baby, regardless what you believe. God put a beautiful spirit there to be loved & cherished, not killed because of what is legal & normal in the world. In your heart of hearts you know its wrong, yet the world has desensitized you to believe that it is not you killing your own flesh made baby. Yet it is a scar, that no matter how hidden, will always be there in your heart because in your soul you know what you did even if you won't admit it( I know a few women who have had abortions & it will forever effect them). A baby has been know as a blessing for people from God. I had to do a research paper last year on abortions, & I can't tell you the disturbing, heartbreaking, traumatizing, & trouble sleep this caused me from everything I learned. They have found that a baby at a couple of weeks CAN FEEL PAIN, & at 19 weeks can be living, yet you can get a abortion at 29 weeks, REALLY??!!?? Please don't have conceive the baby if you don't want one, & if it was not by choice that you had sex, that baby is still a spirit that God put in your body. And you can give up that baby for abortion, etc., but give the baby a choice in living, Please.
Aside from being anatomically inaccurate and disrespectful to people’s religious beliefs that statment is pretty immature and unhelpful to the real question that we should be debating - i.e. .whether it is OK to kill human beings that have done nothing wrong.
If you have goals in life , and don't want to have kids then why are you having unprotected sex ?
There are condoms , there is plan B if the condom breaks, we are in 2016 people !!!
Keep y'all leg closed women !!
I have so much admiration for these women who are helping other women access safe abortions. The fact that they must go through such extreme measures to do so is horrifying and shows a deep injustice to women's reproductive rights. I am very privileged to come from a place that is generally very supportive of a women's right to choose, but I will continue to fight for reproductive justice because I believe that all women, regardless of location or socioeconomic status, should be able to access safe and legal abortion care. Broadly, thank you for opening our eyes to the current struggles that many women face when making an incredibly personal and difficult decision <3
why is the brunt of all the blame and shame going to women who ask for abortion and not the men who ask for it, asking/supporting their partners to have one? It generally takes two people to get pregnant.
Hating on homewo
You are an illogical idiot who is talking nonsense ,as we are made up of cells all our lives.the unborn baby is a living developing entity which has no comparison to a skin cell ,for instance.how am i deciding whether cells live or die !.the unborn baby does have a nervous system ,and has pain perceptors, you really need to learn science.and is a ridiculous comparison.its very different ,also the world is not overpopulated and what right do you have to be so selfish about sharing space with others and who should live or die ! Abortion is different to abstinence or sterilisation ,it is a myth which has been perpetuated by the new world order
There are many people who are waiting to adopt and also a good few foster carers which you are doing an injustice
Most adopted children do not grow up with mental health problems ,so dont lie.if anyone ends up with mental health problems ,its women who have had abortions ,most are not babies with serious health problems either ,and i know that myself besides having compassion for vulnerable humans is what any government should be doing.euthanasia is not legal in.most countries ,you are either a liar or very misinformed ,judging by your ridiculous ,inacurrate post ,i would say its both.loving parents do not kill their child ,why would siblings feel unloved or unwanted ,! And besides there is no guarantee that these things couldnt be the case with any child.its funny how all the countries which have the most liberal abortion laws have the most battered or neglected children ,abortion dosent endear a pro child policy, quite the opposite .a child is a precious gift and not a burden ,you are disgusting and have a very pro death mentality ,and if anyone is self centred and selfish ,thats you. Try to remember that in 99.9 per cent of cases the mother assisted in the babys ' creation ,that was a choice .being as the unborn baby is a separate human which has a beating heart by 22 days after conception ,and is able to make a fist by 8 weeks ,and has his or her own dna ,they are a eunique human which has the right to life ,and to be protected.nothing you have said in your weak and illogical arguments ,have remotely refuted anything
The comment freak
I think you may be if you realised about all the negative consequences all round,we are talking about an innocent human who has the right to life ,its sad how society has deteriorated so much ,
The comment fre.
You are wrong as some people have numerous abortions and dont seem to give a damn about it.i dont know where your country is ,but im not in the usa ,and just because things are not always perfect ,dosent make abortion acceptable.,unplanned babiea are not the same as unwanted ,there is a difference
ERIE Berry Marshall Men are not programmed to become pregnant and breastfeed babies. They are programmed to impregnate; and they then turn around and choose not to help raise the babies or take care of them. This is why I agree with what you're saying. I would like for women to have opportunities to step back from the pregnancy thing and be able to watch men go through pregnancy, miscarriage, parenthood and childbirth and see how "easy" it is. Hopefully, men will think twice when it comes to them telling women what to do with their own bodies.
ERIE Berry Marshall ugh this is so incredibly true. they don't know what it's like to wake up every morning knowing you have no way to take care of the thing growing inside of you and time is running out to make a choice you never wanted to make.
Except for the fact that all antiabortion groups _aren't_ men. When it comes to the ratio between male and female pro-lifers, women have the majority. Many men are too scared to speak out because of feminists crying out "Sexism!".
Abortion kills children? Yeah right, the children who aren't even living yet. They have no feelings. (Unless they are pregnant for over five months then it's unsafe for an abortion). Why can't people be more like Canada🇨🇦❤️
ERIE Berry Marshall I agree, Pro-life is so narrow minded. I had a pregnancy scare and i knew that if I was I couldn't take care of a child, im too young, its too dangerous for my health and my meds would effect the baby. I wouldn't of had the worst but lots of women who have it worse then me and everyone knows that they're killing a "baby", we're not stupid. If you can't have a kid or it'll be horrible for your kid to live in this world. Everyone should have a choice and everyone should be allowed to have control over their bodies. Everyone's different you can never assume things and I wish that people strived to learn that. I also am glad that I don't have a religious. I just want to live and I think any entity would be fine with that.
+Funindysfunctinoal When i say sometimes, i mean thrice my entire life, for me its no condom, no sex. simple as that. With an active sex life of 15 years and not one pregnancy scare that should say something. I keep a meticulous record of my cycle. See I adult very very very well. The women who take chances are the kids who bring kids into this world and then send back.
Yes and the chances of that happening is very ver very low, but being sensible, i didn't test that chance every time either. Fact is condoms have always been apart of my sex life, for years and years, and never been pregnant. the times ive tried it without was nothing more than a few times but only when ik know im a day away. if ur careful, u dont need excuses because u wont be pregnant. end of story.
+nolwen grenan Point out a single thing I presented that even implies I'm "triggered". All I've done is point out your logical inconsistencies while you've used the actual grammar of a child and made insults as if that's somehow going to hurt my feewings.
I'm Smarter Than You gnagna "it's you who are this , no it's you , it's not me" Ahah ^^ I wonder who has the childish rethoric here . 5 yo child. Everywhere espacially in the last comment . Triggered as fuck. But keep entertain me . That's Funny Mister "I'm smarter than you" ^^
You're response is nothing but a childish rhetoric which does nothing but prove my point about you being the idiot. Why do you resort to being blatantly disingenuous instead of conceding to the fact that you're being illogical? How do I seem triggered anywhere in my response?
Stop embarrassing yourself or keep proving me right.
my great grandma and a lot of women she knew died age 43 because of the late consequences of an illegal abortion (with knitting needles). a great number of women die during illegal abortions, but even if they don't, a lot of them die after years because their insides are wrecked. i'll never understand how people can be against abortion. especially women.
I feel like women should have the choice about what to do with their bodies , but I also feel like people think that abortions are birth control and the have multiple abortions. Especially ppl in low SES. I believe its their right to choose but sometimes people don't know better. We need to teach people in general about preventing pregnancy but especially the poor. There are condoms , birth control . and plan B's. Abortion should be your last option , but for many its not.
I feel it is about education, some schools don't teach sexual education and it is apparently up to the parents to teach them about the birds and the bees. Knowing my parents they avoided the questions and I am glad I had sexual education at school. I also agree with you that it's up to the woman to decide, not anyone else. I also think that, anyone one who claims to be religious and to be so pushy and abusive aren't really one of Gods disciples.
Abortion is what I do to *my* body.
So correct. I am not against *me stealing from myself*--to use the proper analogy.
And if someone told me that I couldn't steal from myself in a world where the social and political landscape was dominated by people stealing or trying to keep other people from stealing from them, then I would tell that person to get lost.
at least america has legalised abortion. it's still illegal in asia and are done illegally by both professional non profession, underground doctors. i heard it's really unhygienic and most didn't have the training so it's highly dangerous and expensive. not that america is lucky (they also have a long way to go for womens reproductive right), but they have at least a safety net for women in the first place, while we don't. rather, abortion is a shame and a slut-shamed action. ):
Can we admit that abortion equals the killing of a human life ;or potential human life) while also admitting that this is a choice women will probably always need. This issue really doesn't have to be so black and white, we need to be able to see both sides and gain more understanding.
I want to work with Women On Waves so badly.... I live in Belgium, abortion (as far as I know) is pretty well accepted and accessible, but I would still like to do something to help women who don't feel safe or informed enough to get one. Is there anything I can do besides give money to the organisation?
All these anti abortion protestors need to keep their opinions to themselves and get a fucking life honestly. Why spend your one life running around making people feel awful and preaching hate when you can just keep your mouth shut.
every woman has the liberty to buy condoms or walk into clinics in order to get them for free. there's also websites where you can have free condoms mailed to you. and don't tell me that condoms are a man's responsibility because they're not. if you're sexually active, having condoms is your responsibility.
this video was okay but i'm angry that it wasn't discussed if any of these clinics are promoting using protection and teaching women how to use condoms. boners are not problems for women if they're inside a condom.
+Ashley Klug i believe the point of this video is how essential abortion is as a safety net for those that are unfortunate. As in a broken condom, rape, plan b failure, inability to support a child. But while having contraceptives all the time is important, i dont necessarily believe its a women's responsibility.
+Danielle McClure right, but condoms should be part of this conversation. they're at least worth a mention, right? like I feel they should have mentioned that women are responsible for carrying condoms just as much as men are. sadly, this isn't something that's discussed. then we want to talk about extremes like this. I'm for a woman's right to choose but condoms are effective just as much as the pill or plan B and they are way more cost effective
+Elizabeth you are 100% correct! however actual incidences of condoms breaking are low. what upset me most here is that they weren't even discussed, as if they aren't even an option. even if they do break occasionally, they work a large percentage of the time and they should always be part of the conversation!
I'm wondering what happened (or didn't happen) as far as protection is concerned for the young lady wanting to get into the police academy. if her future career is that important to her, why didn't she use protection? I mean, they didn't mention if the pregnancy was an accident despite using protection or if the pregnancy was the result of rape. hopefully the latter isn't true. as a young woman who feels similarly about her future goals, I just can't wrap my head around the fact that this young woman wouldn't take the proper precautions.
Why is England and UK overall marked red on the map of European countries where abortion is illegal?
What I understand is that, the law in England allows abortion up to 24 weeks, more than some other EU countries allowing up to 20 etc. It is just Northern Ireland with strict laws on abortion.
I have been on the anti-abortion side of the debate, but now I feel as though my mind is shifting away from that. I still 100% prefer prevention to trying to fix the "problem" once it comes up, but, I also think that if a woman has all the kids she can afford to have and finds herself pregnant, it is most unfair to tell her she MUST carry that child to term that she will not have money to feed once it gets here. Or, some might say, give the child away. That does work for some women, but not all. We should not vilify women for making a logical choice about her life and her future. It is not selfishness to care about oneself.
Let's not think of all mother's of people who are promiscuous or simply fail to protect themselves. A pregnancy isn't always a mistake. There are many women who find themselves in a stable relationship and once a pregnancy comes up, the partner turns their back, the financial situation changes. Or they are in an unstable, or unsafe environment. Sometimes this is mutual decision of the couple or even of the whole family. I'd like to shift the emphasis from women alone. I feel like it would cause a lot emotional turmoil to carry out a child and then give it up.
+Tulima Prescott The decision of not wanting a child should be taken in the bed before sex and not in the hospital after the child is already there...in the womb. What do you think happens to the soul of this child?
We are teaching women to be fearful, that they can't raise the child, or the child will not have a good life...that is so much fear to just kill the baby...I've had 2 babies and they came when we had very little income, but you work it out...and you fight/work or do all you can...to give the child a life...Its not that difficult.
Being a woman who lives in Ireland, I completely understand how these women would feel. I know plenty of scared women who have had to travel to other countries just to have the procedure done.
And also, I find it funny how so many men are commenting on this. You dont have a place to say what a women should do with her body.
There is so much ignorance. Some women kill themselves because they have nowhere to turn. So that is also a life gone.
Pro life? Then let women have the option of choice, to have their own life.
I think they value putting food on the table and most women who have abortions already have more children than they can handle look at your statistics before you open your mouth. Its not an easy choice, a girl doesn't decide over lunch to have an abortion, its a difficult decision that impacts the rest of their life. Stop shaming people trust fund baby. If you ever experienced sleeping until noon so that you don't eat so much during the day because your mother struggles to put food in the cabinet, you'd understand why a girl wouldn't want to repeat the same mistake.
Why do you find it funny that men are commenting? It's just as much the mans baby inside. You have to be very cold to think its none of a mans business. You think fathers don't care about their kids? Whether you are against abortion or not, it's ridiculous to assume men aren't going to care about this. I personally don't care if some stranger gets an abortion or not, but I would never allow my wife to do it.
It is ignorant to take your babies life out because of fear of the outcome of life. Women do not value themselves and their unborn babies because the mom and the sperm donor are the ones who do not value women enough to make them feel supported and loved to have their babies. And we live in a society that think they value women, but really we don't. And that itself create fear to makes people think that the only mixture to their problems is abortion. Women do not have anywhere to turn too because of reasons not relating to the individual conceived. They feel fearful and afraid because we live in a society with men and women that value so much more material convenience to life itself.
It's interesting how you gals at Broadly never address what pro-lifers talk about, which is the ethics and morality surrounding elective abortion. You'd never show people what a surgical abortion looks like too, even though you're reporting on it. Pro-lifers understand that there are poor and working class people who need help through the government. We're not just pro-birth; we believe in charity, community, and maintaining the family. I support universal healthcare and social welfare programs, for example. But even if I didn't, that doesn't change what abortion does to an unborn. The women who led the pro-life movement such as former abortionist Abby Johnson talk about it all the time. They talk about what abortion does to an unborn child. You gals would probably dismiss her as a sexist, pro-birth, religious fundamentalist. While I see her as beacon of truth in an age where it's okay to discriminate on the unborn. We're a voice for the voiceless. While you scream, "My body, my choice," we're the ones telling you the truth. Abortion ends the life of another human.
To see the actions of some select pro-life people in this documentary makes me sad, and this is as someone who considers herself pro-life in the basic form - as in, I celebrate life and am an advocate for life. Their actions should not be the pedestal for the way pro-life people are viewed, because these people are not pro-life; if they were, they wouldn't threaten, cause physical or emotional harm to pro-choice people or people who have had abortions, or shame anyone who has had an abortion. True pro-life people stand to share resources for anyone who is considering abortion to know about what other options exist, or resources for anyone who has had one and needs some help or support, or those who want to avoid coming to a situation where an abortion is being considered -ie. contraception. I hope more people who identify as pro-life learn that it is not about making women feel terrible for believing in abortion or for having abortion, because pro-life means advocating for ALL life, including a person who has had an abortion. On behalf of truly pro-life people (which I will always remain, am happy to discuss but my stance will not change and IS NOT religiously motivated) I apologize to anyone who is pro-choice, has had an abortion, and has been made to feel shame because that's not what this fight is supposed to be for.
Then every time you masturbate your committing genocide. Your sperm isn't that important dude its Jizz, stop putting yourself on a cloud. Eat a fucking tape worm and live with it and see if you like something living inside your body without your consent.
they are a lot of more men who are anti abortion than women and believe me, I saw many demonstration against abortion. almost only men , very few women. It´s n ot sexism and control when it become credible for instance, if they demonstrate against abortion but not against the already born children who are bombed in syria by their country, the children who died because of dreadfull conditions of work to produce their favorite brand, clothes , items , or the children who starve to death in Africa. many of them don´t care about these topics but just about abortions so.. it´s just hypocrisy and it´s sexism and control. and then , they dare call themselve pro life ? ahaha the joke
+Rayaan A You clearly haven't seen many pro life protests, otherwise you would notice that a lot (Often the majority) of protesters are women. The opposition to abortion doesn't have to do with control or sexism, it has to do with the belief (however false) that aborting a fetus is equivalent to murder.
really sad and emotional for me over here. she is right: it's the poor women who really suffer. upper class women will always have access to going overseas to get an abortion or finding a doctor to do it for a high fee. all women deserve reproductive freedom.
What about men's rights in this topic? Lady wants to get rid of the baby, the guy wants to keep it. Does the lady get the upper hand cos it's her body and all or does the guy (cos it takes 2 to tango)?
They are assuming you're discussing with your partner and a good amount of women who get abortions have been abandoned by the father and so they take the pregnancy into their own hands and decide whether to keep it or to terminate the pregnancy
The class of drugs that Levitra, Viagra, Stendra, and Cialis belong to are called PDE5 inhibitors. They work by relaxing tight blood vessels, allowing more blood to surge into the penis and cause an erection, says Gregory Bales, M.D., an associate professor of urology at the University of Chicago.
The little pills do the trick for more than two-thirds of men with Viagra protects the heart (ED). They also work for guys who simply need them for a short time to get their “confidence back,” says Michael Eisenberg, M.D., director of male reproductive medicine and surgery at Stanford University.
