I love hunting for gems, and my favorite rock (it’s actually a gel) is an opal! I found out there were opal mines just near the Oregon boarder of Nevada. Naturally I packed my bags and went! I had a blast!!! I loved the entire experience from beginning to end and will certainly be going again. Nick Uhas The opal is know to enhance imagination and creativity. I'm not sure what its other properties are. I love using gemstones for healing. I used a rose quartz alternated with a green aventurine to heal my costochondritis. They alleviated the pain and reduced the jnflimation between the bone tissue. It took months though, but it's still more than what the doc could do. Mother nature and her gifts. It's amazing what some of these stones will do for us.

I have an opal claim on Juniper Ridge in Southern Oregon. You're totally welcome to visit and dig if you like. I have a couple videos uploaded if you want to see.

I'm actually going to go to an Idaho opal mine when the weather warms up, hoping to find specimens that can be turned into jewelry.

Would you then take your finds to a jeweler, or rock hound, lapidarist, to cut and polish them for you? If you ended up with a nice specimen, would you have it placed in a ring setting, or possible necklace?
Angela White (11 months ago)
Could you explain why you have to put them in water to stabilize them? What happens if you don't? I love to show your videos to my science classes so the more science you can throw in the better!! You do a great job explaining, love your energy and enthusiasm!!!! Thank you! REPLY

Yeah, welcome to Nevada bro. If you want to go anywhere that isn't on one of the few many highways you will need a truck.

I have to admit though, this place was awesome... random coffee shop stop in Nevada and across the street there were old military relics just outside on display, such a road trip treat!
