oooooor, just eat garlic and don't eat table sugar. Then fungus can't live under your nails, on your scalp, or anywhere else. Again, having a good diet is the key.

I haven't tried tea tree but when I used to have dandruff I got rid of it within a fortnight with magnesium oil rubbed into my scalp twice a day. Haven't had athletes foot so don't know if it would work on that but for dandruff it worked very well for me and has never returned. If tea tree isn't working for you you might give it a go - we're all different and what works for one may be a dud for others so....
miloradvlaovic (4 месяца назад)
It's quite puzzling; how is it that a topically applied treatment works in vitro, but not in vivo. Side note: I've gotten rid of what I presumed was oral trush before, by using a water solution of the Tea tree essential oil. Toothpaste and tongue scraping helped a lot, but it only went away completely when I used the Tea tree oil solution.
47retta (4 месяца назад)
There is a lot of fraud in the essential oil business. You have to make sure you are getting a pure unadulterated product.

Try apple cider vinegar, it's antifungal don't use shampoo after , it will hurt the first time you apply it use a brush to remove the flakes.

Dr. Greger, these recent videos on dandruff and athlete's foot seem to be somewhat inconclusive. In your other video, you mention the non-English study that found a correlation between low circulation, and the fungus responsible for athlete's foot. Could the same be said for dandruff (i.e., an underlying health condition)? I am not surprised that the scientific literature is suggesting athlete's foot may be more than just fungus. Now that I think about it, the times that I've had issues with it were times that I was quite stagnant in my day to day. Regarding dandruff though, what is the cause and treatment for it? Thanks! Keep up the good work.

Another trick is low ingredient level. 5% may not be enough, or could be affected by the cream base ingredients?

All of these antibacterial or antifungal agents are a bad idea as it just creates drug resistant strains anyways. They damage the good bacteria. The foot fungus needs moisture so wear very breathable shoes, clean socks.

Teatree has been the best treatment for my shingles so far. It's not a cure, it doesn't address the cause of course, but it seems to help the breakout go away much quicker compared to when untreated.

Only thing that worked for both of these conditions was a shower filter when i travel it flares up again using none filtered showers.
Gavin Matthews (4 месяца назад)
I also do have flare ups when I am super stressed but no were near as server as they use to be so it's not silver bullet , it was chronic for me I had it from 15 up until 27 and that was everyday of the week it was quite painful at times. I think the added chemicals put stress on your system and your natural Biome and when you remove them it gives them chance to fight back I have also stopped using soaps as well unless utterly necessary i know what people are going to say you probably smell all the time funny that i use to also suffer from mild case of body odder at times this has dissipated also. So less stress on the system(My body) = good skin and body Oder This worked for me and not saying it will work for everyone but worth try I was at my wits end when I came across this information and it works for me so give it try what have you got to lose.

Maxim C. (4 месяца назад)
Dylan T, This is the molecule used in bleach yes. It was found to treat 100+ skin/mucus diseases in those concentrations. And what's interesting about it is that those organisms (including fungus, etc.) that create those skin conditions, when one treats them with what usually doctors prescribe, those organisms can develop resistances to those creams. This molecule burns them living no possibility for them to develop resistances. And it's very cheap too, comparing to creams. It's another of those things, extremely effective so pharmaceutical industry avoids it, since they prefer to make more money on creams that are less effective, so that the patient buys it again and again. Never drink it though, it is only for topical use, on skin, and avoid contact with the eyes. I too had a bit more dandruff when I was eating animal products. Does zinc seem to work well.for you your seboroic? If not an well, you might consider trying this method. By the way, some feedback from people that used it to treat dandruff (unfortunately the messages are in Italian, not in English): https://www.facebook.com/pg/metodoruffini/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1673907566165436&ref=page_internal

isn't that bleach? I was able to fix the toenail fungus and athlete's foot by changing my shoe type and using some OTC stuff for a short time. I have seborrheic dermatitis so I use a zinc based shampoo once per week or two. When I ate dairy it was really bad.

After a decade with dandruff, it went away when I became plant based. I didn't expect that, and don't know how my diet was affecting it, but I'm glad it's gone.
Mateus Brazil (4 месяца назад)
It took me 4 months! I eat low fat and no oils as well. The only thing I suspect (again, I'm not sure) is the 1/2 teaspoon of tumeric and the 2 tbs of ground flax seed I added to my oatmeal every day. I don't use tumeric that much anymore because I became too yellow around the mouth (it was very weird and noticeable). I switched it to ginger powder, and keep the tumeric only twice a week. But I'm not sure that was the cause, I added it because I liked the exotic flavour and was hoping it would keep cancer away, so I could live until 140 years old. Getting rid of dandruff was an unexpected benefit and I loved it.
Steve (4 месяца назад)
Mateus Brazil how long, after going plant based, till you noticed dandruff going away? I don’t eat oils or high fat and I’m vegan and eat broccoli and leafy greens every day.
Mateus Brazil (4 месяца назад)
I also think the causes are countless. I just shared the luck I had. Also, each person has a different plant based diet. I work with for other vegans and each family eat something different from the other on a daily basis. We gather ever 15 days and bring food to share and it's always very interesting because we try foods we don't eat in our own homes. Vegan diet can have a lot of diversity, and that plays a role in how our body responds to it. The only think I can say is: Finally!!! having dandruff was a pain in the arse LOL It would be nice if there was a test people could make and find out why each one develops it.

This also implies that there is nothing special about tea tree. Almost any plant or plant extract will have anti-inflammatory effects. Amla shampoo or conditioner might work just as well or, given its antioxidant potency, possibly even better.

Too bad the conclusion is tea tree oil doesn't work on tinea pedis when they didn't even properly put it to the test. A 10% tea tree oil cream is not the same as undiluted tea tree oil. No wonder it didn't work. Whenever I get tinea I put tea tree oil neat on my feet and rub it to cover the soles of my feet and between the toes. Clears up right away. DOSE MATTERS!!!

Maxim C. (3 месяца назад)
Ube, It's only safe to use on skin (and mucus), in those concentrations I mentioned (never internally), it can cures 100+ skin conditions (it cures many conditions for which Big Pharma "seem to not be able" to find definitive cure (it is far more effective than regular creams used to only alleviate many of them, it leaves no possibility for organism that cause those conditions to develop resistance to it, unlike regular creams). This is the same molecule used in bleach, you should be able to find it in stores that sell chemicals for pools and/or stores/companies that sell chemicals... There must be a study or more than studied its effects, try Google it. But here is a gallery full of photos posted by people who used it to cure their skin/mucus condition: https://m.facebook.com/metodoruffini/photos/?tab=albums&mt_nav=1&ref=page_internal A bit more details on it: What is the Ruffini Method The Ruffini Method is a topical dermatological treatment for the treatment of skin and mucous diseases through the application of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), diluted in water at a concentration between 6 and 12 percent. I used to have this problem, when I was a teenager. I would break out in hives every time I got in the shower. It was hot water specifically that did it- being in a swimming pool didn't have the same effect. My mom took pictures of it and showed them to my pediatrician (or maybe she took me to a dermatologist). Apparently water contact urticaria is a thing, and yeah, some people get it. I've encountered a couple other people since who have reported this issue. Thankfully I grew out of it. Hope it eventually goes away for you too.

mele host (4 месяца назад)
Tea Tree oil can burn the skin. I usually put about a tablespoon in a regular shampoo bottle, and use it for a period. Too much use and I find my skin drying out. The drying out of skin factor maybe good for athletes foot though. I rarely get foot odour as I wear leather boots.
Dominica Roberts (4 месяца назад)
interesting, I haven't heard this before. I'm fair skinned with blue eyes and blonde hair (the dark hair in my profile pic is only b/c I dye it- I'm naturally blonde) and I have been using liberal amounts of 100% tea tree oil on my feet for years without any issues. Guess I got lucky. I had a really bad reaction to even a diluted application of oregano oil though- skin burned and looked like I got scalded. You could try Neem oil; it kills a lot of things and isn't an essential oil (it's a pressed oil) so it's not nearly as strong as an essential oil like tea tree or oregano.

Mateus Brazil, Thank you for your comment. Is yeast that which is used in making bread, pasta...? Or what is it?

also look into zinc i think optimal zinc intake is 3 times rda (rda is 11mg for me) dr greger made a vid showing our ancestors got 43mg a day (somehow tolerable upper limit of zinc is 40mg) so 30mg should certainly be beneficial
Mateus Brazil (4 месяца назад)
That is really nice, my dandruff went away went I got vegan. This show how any person has a different vegan diet and a different reaction to it. I eat two tbs of grounded flaxseed and I hope my body is converting them well.

Very good information, Dr. G. Thank you! I try to avoid tea tree oil altogether because of the way it affects males and I don't want my two boys or my husband to risk problems.
Maxim C. (4 месяца назад)
CSWRB What do you mean??
Emi Ayau (4 месяца назад)
CSWRB I haven't heard about tea tree affecting males. I'll have to look that up.
almaonyx (4 месяца назад)
The amounts of tea tree oil used in these studies are very very low!!!

Still hoping for a video in the future regarding carbonated drinks (la Croix, essence waters, etc) AND you mentioned how bad melatonin sups are in a live stream and never said why. I stopped taking them immediately but still waiting for the reasons why :/
GodShot (4 месяца назад)
When you continue to take melatonin supplements over a long period of time, because the hormone is being introduced to the body while not requiring the body to make it, the body will gradually drop its natural production until you are effectively dependent on melatonin supplements to fall asleep.

hhancp how about you vs a dumb fuck
Hannah Ruthy (4 месяца назад)
So, I've been using a tea tree oil shampoo by Shea Moisture and also applying a tea tree oil infused vitamin e serum ( that I made) to my scalp for dry scalp while also, increasing my daily Omega 3 fats with walnuts and flax and have seen an improvement. My hair is falling out less and seems to be growing more!! Thank you for these videos. :)

TURTLES RODRIGUEZ, Man, supplements are expensive... And there are thousands of them, that we all theoretically need (if moist of them work at all)... Someone should create an economical industry of them supplements.
MackaliMesut (4 месяца назад)
Thanks for your input. I'll try this too and the algae supplement.

Hannah Ruthy Me too! I had no idea what was wrong with me lol. Just search up vegan dha supplement nested naturals. I buy it on amazon. It’s 24 dollars, I’m pretty sure you can buy a cheaper one but it comes with 60 capsules. Basically some people can’t convert the ala that well. I didn’t think it was me but it doesn’t hurt to take it. Dr micheal Gregor even recommends it just to be safe. The algae is where fish get the omega threes from. I’m not even exaggerating after one day my dandruff went away and my hair wasn’t dry anymore. I’m 17 and I always thought it was weird I have dandruff my whole life.
Hannah Ruthy (4 месяца назад)
Did you like any specific brand?

I get minor dandruff every winter. A few drops of tree oil added to my shampoo, or a natural shampoo with it (such as Jasons) is the only thing that has ever helped.

physical activity for better circulation recommended intake of vegetables and fruit early nights adequate hydration hygiene by bathing regularly that's all it takes. everything is pulp fiction.
Maxim C. (4 месяца назад)
helicart, Thank you a lot for taking time to explain. So bread, pasta, rice, oatmeal etc. better to avoid, and instead favour beans, potatoes, tomatoes etc. am I understanding correctly? I'm not overweight, but I am very much sedentary (although I don't see how that can change having Lyme disease...)
helicart (4 месяца назад)
Maxim, I am a clinical health professional seeing 80-100 patients a week. I have dealt with professional athletes in cycling, american football, soccer, olympic weightlifting, and rowing. No elite level athletes I have dealt with have dandruff. Rarely do I see dermatophytes at this level. THese conditions in my view are due to poor circulation and poor diet primarily. Occasionally they are catalysed at change of season, when the air dries, or when athletes travel to hotter more humid clients. ....and occasionally from unhygienic shared shower facilities. Either way, good hydration habits and lots of whole food plant based eating keeps the blood and local immune system healthier. The people I see both conditions in more usually are overweight, sedentary, and eating way too many simple carbs.
Maxim C. (4 месяца назад)
helicart, Where did you get the percentage from? What would you say the cause for those 2%, why this won't help them? I think I know what it is, but would like to hear your opinion.
helicart (4 месяца назад)
For 98%, the above is all that is required to avoid dandruff and fungal infections. But most are not disciplined enough. I am testing young people all day from all over the world. Today I am doing pre-employment medical and manual handling testing. The majority of people fail because they are not living healthy lives.
Maxim C. (4 месяца назад)
helicart, Maybe in many cases, but in some all it and even more doesn't help... Unfortunately.
Julie Mah (4 месяца назад)
Interesting. Tea tree hair products didn't work for a friend of mine with dandruff. She won't try a change in diet, though - away from standard American diet, which causes inflammation.
Maxim C. (4 месяца назад)
Julie Mah, I always wish, in such cases, that people post all the transcripts of their works in text format, in one single webpage or say PDF file, so people can find it in matter of seconds...
Julie Mah (4 месяца назад)
Maxim C. Yah true, but worth try. In fact I could've sworn Dr.Greger had a video (Or one of the plant based docs) going into possible link between diet and things like dandruff. Now I want to find it. 😬
Maxim C. (4 месяца назад)
Julie Mah, Sometimes the diet won't help too. Unfortunately the body is a lot more complex, or at least in some cases things that will help most of us, won't help those few. I know it firsthand...

Apparently "real men" are selfish bastards who don't care about their health (and the effect it would have on their family if they get one of the many diseases associated with eating animal products), the environment, or innocent animals. Good thing I have plenty of fake men in my life who are kind, caring, and man enough to stop needlessly harming animals.

A friend of mine had a stroke at 41, cause he ordered some fake viagra online, but I wouldn't be surprised if increased stroke risk is a potential side effect of the real thing too. He got paralysed on one side, they're trying to teach him how to walk again...
