How to Create a Lesson Plan
A training lesson plan (also called a session plan) is an organized description of the activities and resources you'll use to guide a group toward a specific learning objective. A lesson plan is a written record of training. It includes essential content you have identified to meet learning objectives. It details the subject matter that you'll teach, how long each section should take, the methods of instruction for each topic covered, and the measures you'll use to check that people have learned what you needed them to learn.

ESL Teaching Tips: A Lesson Plan for Your Very First Day
Here are some quick tips for new ESL teachers. This video focuses on developing a workable lesson plan, in this case, I present a plan for what I found to be a fairly successful introductory lesson for both elementary and middle school. At first, you might be tempted to write out elaborate and detailed plans for your ESL classes, where the lesson plan almost becomes a script to be read, rather than a rough guide. This kind of lesson plan is nearly certain to fail miserably. Flexibility is critical to a good lesson plan. Repetition and variation is needed to help the students retain the information covered in class. Try to design a lesson plan in modules, with each chunk being 5-25 minutes. The most important one should come first, and, with a flexible modular design, if the important lesson runs long, one of the latter modules can be eliminated, or covered during the next class. And remember: languages are not learned by listening to a lecture given in that language; language is acquired by engaging with it, by actively using it. If you only remember one thing, remember this: Your students should be talking far more than you are. ~Kyle Clements

Are You Excited? Lesson Plan Tip
A day in the life of a teacher involves a lot of lesson plans. Making your lessons engaging for students is crucial for the success of the lesson. As teachers there are times we need to be great actors and really ham it up. When you are planning ask yourself one simple question, "Am I excited to teach this lesson?" If you did not say yes than why should your students be excited? 👇👇👇👇👇 Subscribe here for more content: https://goo.gl/zGMxlT Click here for my most popular video! https://goo.gl/mdTb3p If you want to be friends 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mrthain_/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Mr.Thain/ twitter: @therealmrthain email: misterthain@gmail.com Music: https://soundcloud.com/hurleymower/retro

Genki English: EFL / ESL Lesson Plan How to Teach English!
More details at; http://www.genkienglish.net/lessonplan.htm Teaching Materials at http://genkienglish.net/cdset.htm How to Teach English: 45 Minute Lesson Plan 1. Warm Up/Review - 3/10 minutes The idea is to get the kids back into a "Genki" way of learning, to get used to you again, to warm them up and to review the previous time's language. Start off with a quick go of the Warm Up game. Time depends on the class, from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. If they already know them, try a quick go of the lines game or the hammer game. Review the song from the previous lesson. They are singing and dancing and remembering the previous work all at the same time. The songs are quick, genki and get to the point! 2. New material - Picture cards and Song - 15/20 minutes New vocab A capella CD Using the Genki English songs to make it easy to introduce the new language, and for the kids to remember it. Use picture cards. Put upone, say the word and get the kids to say it back. Review often! After every 3 or 4 words, review the others. 8 words is a good quantity to teach in one lesson. Questions and answers are better (e.g. What's this? What time is it? or How much?) Say the question, point to a card and the kids answer. This is better than simply learning the vocab in isolation. Try tricking them by pointing to a card and saying a different question e.g. "What's your name?" To save time, try singing each word when introducing it. The melody and actions help the kids remember them more quickly. Plus when you've finished the words, they already know the song. Teach the song "a capella" several times without the music. Keep practising till they know all the words! If they don't say things loud, do a competition between you and them to see who can say the word the loudest. Even the shy kids will be then saying the words! Sing the song with the CD to make sure they know the vocab and have some fun! Keeping the CD till the end makes sure the kids know the words and keeps the energy high. 3. Practice of new material - Game - 15/20 minutes The purpose of the game is for the kids to practise the target English. It's also good for the teacher to see if the kids have mastered the language or if they need more practice. Only the second language is allowed for the kids, but the teacher should explain things in whichever language is most efficient. The less time you spend explaining, the more time the kids have to practise. Best done with games to aid motivation. Most of the games on this site can be used for almost any vocab. Try the Random Game button for some inspiration! Explain the games by acting them out! All the games on the site can be explained in 2 or 3 minutes or less. If team teaching, try giving a translation of the game to the other teacher who can then explain the rules in the kids' native language. If there is no end to the game - do a big countdown! Important Point: Remember to teach your kids that "Losing doesn't mean losing. It simply means you get another chance to try again" If everyone is having fun, everyone wins! If they don't win, it's simply another chance to try again next time. Do this and every kid will be wanting to keep going and learn more, especially if they actually lose a game! 4. "Thank you"s and "Goodbye"s Sing today's song again and then the Thank You song (from CD1) to finish. Tell them how good they were Do a few claps and cheers (try raising your hand to vary their volume like we do in the shows, very fun!) End the lesson on a high so they are looking forward to the next lesson!! More details at; http://www.genkienglish.net/lessonplan.htm Teaching Materials at http://genkienglish.net/cdset.htm

Why teachers selling lesson plans have sparked debate
To earn extra money, many teachers around the country are selling lesson plans via online marketplaces. But as such sites become more popular, there are also concerns, including who legally owns the educational materials a teacher creates, and what it means for the collaborative spirit of the profession. Special correspondent Kavitha Cardoza of Education Week reports from Alabama.

Teacher Talk: My Lesson Plan Binder
In this video I answer questions regarding my teaching career and how I have organized my lesson planner. Check out my 2014-15 Planner Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bwz3-20a4R8&list=UUtodwj9HH9_FsCLI1_eHZ_Q I am a 6th grade math and science teacher in a middle school. I was not able to find any lesson planners that fit my needs as an upper level teacher so I created my own. I used images that I found online and created my own planner pages using Word. I used Paint to crop images or edit pages (this would be so much easier if you have a Mac). After creating the pages I wanted, I played around with a color copier until I had a front and back color copy of the correct pages and in the correct order. Send me a message if you would like any of the Word documents of the pages that I created. I hope you enjoyed this type of video on my channel. Skillsroad Teachers Lesson Plans - Lesson 5 - "Resiliance"
Lesson 5 - Resiliance It’s one thing providing students with great free resources, but it’s another thing helping them make sense of the results and to distil the information to use effectively. Firstly, students are asked to brainstorm what they think it means to be resilient. Resilience is then clearly defined and the importance of showing resilience is explained. Students are asked to consider their own strengths and abilities, as well as situations when they have experienced failure and how they reacted in these situations. Famous examples of resilience are presented to show that everyone experiences failure and that it is not failure itself but how you respond to failure that can determine whether you eventually achieve succeed. Finally, students take part in an activity that will test their resilience and provides a practical example of what it means to be resilient. Skillsroad Teachers Lesson Plans - Lesson 4 - "Learning Styles"
"Lesson 4 - Learning Styles It’s one thing providing students with great free resources, but it’s another thing helping them make sense of the results and to distil the information to use effectively. This lesson introduces students to the differences in learning styles that exist between people. Students are encouraged to begin to consider how consideration of their individual preferences and characteristics can help guide their career decisions. Students are asked to pick from descriptions of learning styles that they feel are most representative of them before completing a Learning Styles Questionnaire to determine their personal leaning preferences. Each learning preference is then explained in more detail and students are asked to reflect on how accurate they were in selecting their learning style preferences before they completed the questionnaire. The value of being aware of their individual learning style is then discussed. How to Plan and Teach Workshops
A detailed overview of planning, teaching, and refining workshops or classes to teach at a fire or flow festival. From developing lesson plans and best practices for teaching the workshop itself, I go into how to collect feedback on the workshop and using it to refine the workshop into the best version of itself it can be! The process you'll want to go through looks like this: 1. Set no more than 3 goals for your workshop 2. Outline a lesson plan that supports and reinforces these goals 3. Try to keep the outline to 1 page or less 4. Anticipate bringing any extra resources you need with you Once teaching the workshop, you'll want to consider the following: 1. Project your voice by talking to the back row of students 2. Keep your students both mentally and physically engaged 3. Whether you want to split your class by experience level (I prefer not to) At the end of the class you'll want to: 1. Do a quick review of content covered to reinforce it for your students (ask them to pull out their cameras) 2. Collect feedback from your students on how the class went In the longer term: 1. Revise your workshop based around the feedback you've collected 2. Take other instructors' workshops to learn from their teaching styles My template feedback form can be found here: https://goo.gl/98mCkn Learn to spin poi like a Rock Star!
