For how long can one continue pantoprazole for acidity? - Dr. Nagaraj B. Puttaswamy

02:56
Definitely pantoprazole is one of the drug of choice in management of heart burn or oesophagitis. But how long will you take that drug? It is advices to take the drug for a week, 10 days, 15 days or a month’s time. Taking pantoprazole beyond one month or two months will definitely have its own adverse effects. Any drug if it is taken for a long time it has its own disadvantages along with the advantages the drug can give. I can advice the patient not to drink and smoke when you have oesophagitis and parallely have a decent meal so that the heart burn is significantly reduced even without medications. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor. The gastric mucosa is designed in such a way that it will secrete hydrochloric acid. It is normally secreted in every other person. But in such patients we induce the proton pump to be inhibited so that the hydrochloric acid secreted should reduce in quantity so that the acidity in stomach comes down. Even if there is some amount of reflux the acids which is there will not burn the oesophagus. This is the concept of usage of pantoprazole. But if it is used for a longer time the proton pumps will gradually understand that this person may not require this much amount of hydrochloric acid and may be atrophic gastritis may set in. It should be taken under the supervision or advised as per the doctor or the surgeon.

How to stop Proton Pump Inhibitors (Protonix)

02:08
My course on how to cure GERD: http://acid-reflux-and-gerd.com/ Disclaimer: http://acid-reflux-and-gerd.com/terms-and-conditions/ PPIs ( proton pump inhibitors) such as , Omeprazole, Prilosec, Prevacid, Aciphex, Protonix, and Nexium should not be taken more then 4 weeks , sometimes 8 weeks maximum, because of their side effects. You cannot stop it abruptly, it may cause severe GERD. Discontinue slowly, substituting one dose of PPI with medication from the other group: H-2 blocker (Cimetidine) or Antacid (TUMS) There is no rule how fast you may go. Its may take you 2-4 weeks or even longer. At the same time consider incorporating other natural substances such as Aloe Vera juice or DGL. It is very important at this time to identify the cause of YOUR acid reflux, see my video on this topic: 8 Common causes of Acid Reflux and GERD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6fWR_ahglU Stay healthy Dr. V Waks

Treat and Stop Acid Reflux with Natural Medicine - Dr. Patti Kim, ND

04:57
Low stomach acid causes most Acid Reflux symptoms, according to Dr. Patti Kim, ND (Naturopathic Doctor). In this video interview, Dr. Kim discusses: 1) The symptoms of Acid Reflux, including burning, heat or pain sensation in chest and/or throat area, regurgitation, belching due to the sphincter being weakened, feeling full sooner than normal, chronic sore throats or laryngitis. 2) The conventional treatment for Acid Reflux, including calcium carbonate antacids such as Tums, Maalox, Mylanta; or proton pump inhibitors such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid and Protonix. 3) That neutralizing stomach acid or stopping stomach acid production with artificial drugs can be harmful to the body because of the numerous side effects associated with the drugs, and that this type of conventional symptom treatment does not treat the root cause. 4) That stress is a primary cause of lowering stomach acid. 5) That stomach acids leak into the esophagus because of a weak sphincter (often due to stress). 6) Factors that influence acid reflux: poor nutrition, foods that cause inflammation, eating spicy foods and alcohol. 7) Natural Medicine treatment of acid reflux includes: stomach pH may be tested; goal is to raise stomach acid (or lower if too high) through dietary changes, exercise, herbs, nutritional supplements, digestive supplements and Homeopathic remedies. 8) Especially important is removal of processed foods and eating whole, organic foods. 9) Dr. Kim has a great success rate of stopping acid reflux: most of her patients are symptom free within a week. Pantafol DSR Capsules review in Hindi गोली एक काम अनेक ! Pantoprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. This medication relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. It helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Pantoprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). This section contains uses of this drug that are not listed in the approved US professional labeling for the drug but that may be prescribed by your health care professional. Use this drug for a condition that is listed in this section only if it has been so prescribed by your health care professional. This medication may also be used to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers The name of your medicine is Domperidone. This belongs to a group of medicines called ‘dopamine antagonists’. Domperidone works by helping to move food faster through your food pipe (oesophagus), stomach and gut. This is so that it does not stay in the same place for too long. It also helps stop food flowing the wrong way back up your food pipe. Domperidone can be used for the following: Adults •To stop or prevent you feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting) •To stop or prevent the feeling of fullness during or shortly after a meal •To treat stomach discomfort, or heartburn caused by the flow of the stomach contents back into your food pipe Children •To stop or prevent children feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting)
