Use Epsom Salt Mix Epsom salt and fresh lemon juice in equal to half a cup of warm water quantities. Swallow a teaspoon of the mixture twice a day, once in the morning and one at night. You can also add two cups of Epsom salt to warm bath water and soak in it. 3. Use Apple Cider Vinegar Take a cup of warm water. Mix one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and honey in it. Drink this solution daily in the morning as it gives an alkalizing effect. 4. Use Black Strap Molasses Heat 1 cup of fresh water until hot, but not hot. Stir in a tablespoon of molasses and drink once a day. Note that sometimes it can have a laxative effect. 5. Use Fish Oil for arthritis treatment Just consume one or two tablespoons of fish oil a day. Intake of fish oil supplements in the morning on an empty stomach reduces morning stiffness. 6. Use Alfalfa Seeds You can make a cup of tea healthy use of alfalfa seeds. Simply add half or one teaspoon of seeds to a cup of boiling water. Let simmer for 20 to 30 minutes with a lid and then strain it. Drink this twice a day for two to three weeks to reduce swelling. You can also opt for alfalfa capsules which are readily available in the market and can be taken every day. 7. Use Borage Seed oil Regularly massage borage seed oil in the affected area to help heal painful and swollen joints area. 8. Use Ginger Dry milling a mixture of 6 teaspoons dried ginger, 6 teaspoons caraway seed powder and 3 teaspoons black pepper powder. Take half a teaspoon of this mixture together with water, three times a day. Ginger oil, when applied to the affected area on a regular basis, can reduce pain, swelling and stiffness. 9. Get a Massage Heat a little mustard oil until slightly warm. If it swells, you can mix an equal amount of onion juice, too. Rub gently over the painful joint. Then cover the joint with plastic wrap and apply hot towels. Repeat this remedy daily before going to bed for best results 10. Use Cinnamon for arthritis treatment Mix half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and one tablespoon of honey in a cup of warm water and drink every morning on an empty stomach. In this video, we'll let you know how turmeric can be used to treat arthritis. Turmeric has been in use for many centuries now as a cure for several diseases. Turmeric, its rhizome stem, is used as a traditional medicine to cure various ailments like arthritis and inflammation. Here, we have discussed how you can use turmeric along with other ingredients to cure the condition of arthritis. Turmeric contains anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, free radical removal and antioxidant properties that help in treating arthritis. Turmeric also contains curcumin that is effective in treating arthritis and its associated pain. It also helps in treating the swelling and tenderness of the joints. Turmeric also helps in blocking certain cytokines and enzymes that result in inflammation and also works as a painkiller that raises the mobility in the joints and decreases the stiffness. So, here's a gist on how to use turmeric for arthritis treatment. Continue watching to know more. 1. Turmeric And Milk : Mix one spoon of turmeric with one cup of warm milk. Drink this milk in the evening before going to sleep to get a sound sleep. Also, make sure to consume turmeric regularly to reduce the joint pain and inflammation caused by arthritis. This is also confirmed in the study 'Turmeric Extracts Containing Curcuminoids Prevent Experimental Rheumatoid Arthritis'. 2. Turmeric And Water : Add one spoon of turmeric into water. Mix it thoroughly and boil it for 15 minutes. This will help create 12% of curcumin mixture. You need to drink this solution within four hours. Else the curcumin will gradually reduce to 6% in about 6 hours. 3. Turmeric And Ginger : Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that help remove the inflammatory chemicals from the painful joints. Take half a spoon of turmeric powder and powdered ginger root. Brew them in boiling water for about 20 to 30 minutes. Drink this tea to get relief from arthritis. 4. Turmeric Powder And Coconut Oil : Mix one spoon of turmeric powder with a sufficient amount of coconut oil. Make a paste and apply it on the affected area. Leave it on for a few hours and rub it off after it dries. Repeat this to get relief from arthritis pain completely. 5. Turmeric Powder, Powdered Lime And Saltpeter (Potassium Nitrate) : Take one spoon of turmeric powder, a little powdered lime and saltpeter. Mix them well to make a paste. Apply this on the painful area and cover it with a cheese cloth. Repeat this frequently to get relief from arthritis and its symptoms. 6. Turmeric Paste : Mix ¼th cup of turmeric powder in ½ a cup of water. Simmer it over medium heat and stir until it becomes a paste. Allow it to cool down and store it in the refrigerator. Apply on the affected area and wash off with plain water. Hence, you can adopt this method to treat arthritis using turmeric. 7. Turmeric, Coconut Oil And Egg Yolk : Beat the egg yolks and melt the coconut oil. Add coconut oil into the mixture along with some turmeric powder. Use a hand blender and emulsify this mixture. Consume this mixture once or twice a day to get relief from arthritis completely. 8. Turmeric, Lemon Grass, Coconut Oil And Cayenne Pepper : Mix 5 spoons of cayenne pepper with 5 spoons of turmeric powder. Add dry organic lemon grass to it and coconut oil to it. Mix all these in an oven pan and preheat it at 150 degrees C for 3-5 hours. Strain these herbs by using a cheesecloth into a glass jar and close the lid tightly. Apply this mixture on the skin to get a good relief from arthritis pain. 9. Turmeric, Fenugreek Powder And Dried Ginger Root : Ginger contains anti-inflammatory phytonutrients called gingerols that help with fighting inflammation and arthritis. Mix one spoon each of turmeric powder, fenugreek powder and dried ginger powder. Mix all these thoroughly along with warm water. Consume this solution twice in a day to get relief. 10. Turmeric And Dimethyl Sulphate Solution : Add two spoons of turmeric powder to 1-2 spoons of dimethyl sulphate. Mix them well to make a paste and rub it over the painful joints. Wrap it with a plastic wrap and cover it with a heating pad for about 25 to 30 minutes. 11. Turmeric And Lemon Juice : Take two spoons of turmeric powder with one spoon of lemon juice. Knee Arthritis Stretches & Exercises - Ask Doctor Jo

These knee arthritis stretches and exercises are simple to do and should provide some relief from knee arthritis pain. They are also great for keeping your knees nice and fit. Read Doctor Jo's full blog post about this at http://www.askdoctorjo.com/content/knee-arthritis-stretches-exercises The first stretch is for your calf muscles. Start off with your legs out in front of you. Keep the leg you want to stretch out in front of you. Take a stretch strap, dog leash, belt, or towel and wrap it around the ball of your foot. Relax your foot, and pull the strap towards you stretching your calf muscle. You should feel the stretch under your leg. Hold the stretch for 30 seconds, and do three of them. The next stretch is for the hamstrings. Keep your leg that you want to stretch out in front of you. Try to keep your back straight and just bend at your hips. Keep your leg straight and pull your toes towards you to get an extra stretch. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds, and repeat three times. The last stretch is for your quad muscles. This time you will lie on your stomach to stretch. Wrap the strap or dog leash around your ankle, and then lie on your stomach. Bring the strap up and around your shoulder so you are comfortable. Then pull the strap towards you bringing the lower leg towards your bottom. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds doing three of them. Now we will move on to the exercises. The first exercise is going to be a quad set. Put your leg straight out in front of you again. You can use a towel roll underneath your knee as a target. Activate your quad muscle by squeezing it and pull your toes toward you at the same time. This will push your knee into the ground. Try to hold this for 5-10 seconds and do 10 of them. Next you will do a short arc quad (SAQ). For this, you will use a foam roll or a rolled up beach towel. You want something big so you have a good bend in your knee. Prop your leg over the roll with your knee on the roll. Try to keep your knee on the roll the whole time, and then lift your foot in the air until your leg is straight. If you pull your toes towards you at the end, this will help activate all the muscles in the leg. Try not to go fast because then you are only using momentum. Go slow and controlled with your movements. Start of with 10 of these. If you get to 20-25 and it is easy, then you can add ankle weights. For the next exercise, you will sit in a chair. This one is called a long arc quad (LAQ). This is similar to the SAQ where you want to go slow and controlled, and then bring your leg up straight out in front of you. Slowly come back down. Start of with 10 of these. If you get to 20-25 and it is easy, then you can add ankle weights. Now you are going to stand up for the last exercises. For the hamstring exercise standing up, you want to keep the top part of your leg as straight as possible in line with your body. It might try to come forward if your muscles are tight, but try to keep it down. Slowly bring your foot back behind you, like you are trying to kick your bottom. Make sure you are going slow and controlled with these. Start of with 10 of these. If you get to 20-25 and it is easy, then you can add ankle weights. The last one is for calf strengthening. With your feet about shoulder width apart, and holding onto something for balance if you need to, come up on your toes bringing your heels off the ground, and slowly come back down. If that becomes easy, you can do this one foot at a time. Start off with ten and work your way up to 20-25. With the increased use of the hand, arthritis pain increases as well. For instance, if you’re working in the kitchen or typing on a keyboard you’ll witness sharp pain.Many people also lose the power in their hands.Over time this weakness can make it difficult to perform the regular everyday tasks like opening toothpaste. What makes this disease especially unpleasant is the fact that when it hits the joints of the hands because it results in numbness and pain. We strongly feel that natural home treatments are the way to go. There are several specially designed hand exercises that can improve the hand’s flexibility, extend their range of motion and ease arthritis pain. They’re very simple and noninvasive. Soaking your hands in warm water or dipping them in warm paraffin wax is a great way to reduce pain before you perform the exercises. You can even try performing some of the exercises with your hands submerged in warm water or while you’re in a heated pool. This way you’re gently exercising your joints and muscles. The buoyancy of the water supports and lessens stress on the joints, enabling you to move your hands more easily. Water can also act as resistance to help build muscle strength. Make A Fist A really easy exercise you can do just about anywhere. It’s best to use it when you’re feeling stiffness in this area.This exercise is fairly easy to do. Start by keeping your right hand straight. Then, turn your hand into a fist and place your thumb out of the fist. Note that you shouldn’t be squeezing your hand – be relaxed. Open your hand slowly until each of your fingers is straight. Perform 10 reps. After that, repeat the procedure with your left hand. Thumb Bend Start by holding your hand straight up and bendingyour thumb in the direction of the palm. Stretch it as much as you can and try to reach the pinky finger with the thumb. If you can’t do it, don’t stress yourself out. Just stretch it as much as you can. Stay in that position for a couple of seconds and place the thumb in its initial position in the end. 10 repetitions with both hands will be enough. Finger Bands Using the same position as the first exercise, straighten your left hand. Try gently bending your thumb in the direction of your palm. Remain in this position for a few seconds.Bring your thumb in the initial position. Then, bend your index finger in the same direction, wait for a few seconds before straightening it. Repeat this with every finger. Once you’re finished with your left hand, do the same thing with your right hand. Make An O Start by straightening your left hand. Then, direct all your fingers inward so they can touch, making an “O”. Remain in this position for several seconds, before straightening your fingers. Do at least three reps, using both hands. This exercise is perfect in the moments your fingers and hand feel stiff or achy. Table Bend Start with your left hand, putting your pinky close to the table. Point your thumb up and bend the rest of your fingers making an L formation.Stay in this position for a couple of seconds, before straightening your fingers. Do 10 reps with both hands. Finger Lift Start by putting left hand on a table with its palm down,keeping it flattened. Try lifting each finger off the table carefully starting with your thumb. Keep the finger in the same position for two seconds, before lowering it down. Perform the same procedure with every finger from the left and right hand. Fan And Fist Start by holding your hand in a neutral position, keeping your knuckles straight.Gradually and carefully spread your fingers as much as you can (something like a fan when it’s opening up). Then, try making a fist. Remain in each of these positions for about five seconds. Do the exercise two times a day with both hands.
