DESCRIPTION: Iron is a double-edged sword. If we don't absorb enough, we risk anemia, but if we absorb too much we may increase our risk of cancer, heart disease, and a number of inflammatory conditions. Because the human body has no mechanism to rid itself of excess iron, one should choose plant-based (non-heme) sources over which our body has some control. This is another reason why Plant Protein is Preferable (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/plant-protein-preferable/). Getting The Most Out Of Your Vitamin & Mineral Supplements and Absorbing the Vital Nutrients

05:40
You researched and choose good quality supplements. But now are you taking them at the right time and with the right foods or other supplements? Adjusting your supplement timing and learning how to match them up, could help you get a whole lot more out of these health helpers. Multivitamins contain an array of vital nutrients, including vitamins, minerals and amino acids. These vitamins can be fat soluble (like vitamins A, D E and K) or water soluble (like the B-complex vitamins and vitamin C). Fat-soluble vitamins are dissolved in fat, then delivered by your bloodstream. Excess vitamins are stored in your liver for future use. Water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water and aren’t stored by your body. They have to be replenished every day. Take your multivitamin within 30 minutes of a meal to help aid digestion and boost the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Don’t take your multivitamin too close to bedtime. Vitamins B12 and C, found in most multivitamins, can have stimulating, sleep-disrupting effects. Direct sun is one source of vitamin D; however, it’s easier for those with paler skin to produce vitamin D. A fair-skinned person can produce an adequate amount of vitamin D in 15 minutes of sunshine exposure, whereas a dark-skinned person could take up to two hours and that’s without sunscreen. Studies have shown that vitamin D3 decreases mortality. The body needs vitamin D to absorb calcium. Without enough vitamin D, one can’t form enough of the hormone calcitriol (known as the “active vitamin D”). This in turn leads to insufficient calcium absorption from the diet. Although vitamin D can be taken on an empty stomach, taking it with a meal that contains fats, such as dinner rather than breakfast may increase your absorption. Calcium supplements have long been synonymous with bone health. They’re also important for strong muscles and a healthy heart. A low intake of calcium and vitamin D can lead to osteoporosis in both women and men. Another group that may be deficient in calcium is nine- to 18-year-old girls. Spread out calcium intake, as the body can’t absorb a large amount all at once. Take no more than 500 mg at a time. Don’t take calcium with any other mineral supplements or with a multivitamin. If you’re on any medication, consult your health care practitioner before taking calcium; many medications compete with calcium for absorption. One of the most underrated minerals responsible for numerous cellular functions is magnesium. Magnesium is required for heartbeat and blood sugar regulation and healthy nerve and muscle functioning. Magnesium converts vitamin D into its active form so that it can help with calcium absorption. Since intestinal absorption tends to decrease with age, magnesium is essential for older adults. Magnesium supplements that can be applied to the skin are an option for people who find oral magnesium supplements irritate their intestinal lining. Leg cramps often experienced by pregnant women or at nighttime can respond well to topical magnesium as well. Take magnesium with food and apart from other minerals. Probiotics are all the rage because of their beneficial effects on the digestive and immune systems. To help ensure probiotics survive stomach acid for delivery to the intestines, researchers have developed a coating that is both heat and acid stable. The benefits of liquid probiotics is that liquids distribute healthy bacteria all along the digestive tract. However, most liquid preparations require refrigeration; otherwise, the supplement will lose its potency. Take probiotics with a meal containing healthy fats, or at least 30 minutes before the meal, for best absorption. Before taking an iron supplement, get a blood test performed by your health care practitioner. A blood test can determine the true level of iron in your blood and whether you need an iron supplement. Professional guidance is important, as excess iron intake can be harmful. Take iron with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, as vitamin C helps the body absorb iron in the gut and regulates iron uptake and metabolism. Take iron with food to reduce the risk of an upset stomach. Don’t take calcium supplements at the same time as iron supplements or iron-rich foods; calcium can decrease iron absorption. Iron Tablets | How To Take Iron Tablets | How To Reduce Iron Supplement Side Effects (2018)

03:26
How To Take Iron Tablet Properly | How To Reduce Iron Tablet Side Effects | Iron Supplements For Best Absorption | Iron Vitamin C | Ferrous Sulphate Hey guys! This weeks video is about how to take an iron supplement so you can get the most out of it and how to reduce the side effects associated with them. Iron supplements are prescribed or recommended when when your anaemic or at risk of developing anaemia because the iron stores in your body are low. Symptoms of iron deficiency anaemia can include: • Tiredness and lack of energy • Shortness of breath • Noticeable heartbeats (heart palpitations) • Pale skin HOW TO TAKE YOUR IRON SUPPLEMENT: To help get the best absorption of your iron supplement you should take it on an empty stomach (preferably one hour before a meal or two hours after) with a drink containing vitamin C, such as a glass of orange juice or another juice drink with added vitamin C. Absorption of iron from the gut is reduced by food, tea and milk, so these should be avoided for one hour before and after taking the iron supplement. The precise instructions for when to take your supplements will be discussed with you by the healthcare professional who prescribes them. The only factor that improves the absorption of iron is vitamin C. This is why we recommend that you take your iron supplement with a drink containing vitamin C. HOW DO IRON SUPPLEMENTS WORK: Iron is needed for the production of haemoglobin, which is an essential ingredient in red blood cells. Haemoglobin is very important as it carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. If you don’t have enough iron, you can develop anaemia, which means that you aren’t making enough red blood cells to carry oxygen around your body. You may become breathless, tired and have a lack of energy, your skin may become pale and you may have palpitations (noticeable heartbeats). COMMON SIDE EFFECTS: The following side effects are common, • Stomach upset • Nausea (feeling sick) • Stomach ache • Diarrhoea • Constipation These usually improve as your body gets used to the iron supplements. If the side effects continue to be a problem for you, contact the healthcare professional who prescribed the iron supplements and discuss the possible options I have recommended in the video with them. Iron supplements can also make your stools look darker in colour. This is completely harmless. IRON SUPPLEMENT INTERACTIONS: Some medicines are not suitable for people with certain conditions, and sometimes a medicine may only be used if extra care is taken. For these reasons, before you start taking an iron supplement it is important that your doctor or pharmacist knows: • If you are taking any other medicines. This includes any medicines you are taking which are available to buy without a prescription, as well as herbal and complementary medicines. • If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine. Link to iron supplement interactions, this link is for ferrous sulphate a commonly prescribed iron supplement. If you are taking a different iron supplement, on the same page you can search the name of it and click interactions - https://bnf.nice.org.uk/interaction/ferrous-sulfate-2.html IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ALL MEDICINES: Never take more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you or someone else might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the accident and emergency department of your local hospital. Take the container with you, even if it is empty. This medicine is for you. Never give it to other people even if their condition appears to be the same as yours. If you are having an operation or any dental treatment, tell the person carrying out the treatment which medicines you are taking. If you have any questions about this medicine ask your pharmacist. 5 Signs and Symptoms of Vitamin D Deficiency YOU NEED to Know

04:05
Follow us on Twitter: @foods4health1 Recipes4Health: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2bZhXBHIb51n1fE3VWPmcQ/videos To learn more about the health benefits of food, visit: http://www.benefitsoffood.blogspot.com Vitamin D is very important for our bodies since it effects a number of bodily functions. We often get this vitamin from exposure to sunlight, but it is also obtained by eating certain foods such as fish and dairy products. Vitamin D supplementation is also popular, since getting enough of this vitamin is difficult from diet alone. Unfortunately, there are quite a few individuals who are deficient in this vitamin without even knowing it as the signs and symptoms are either subtle or not well known. Over time this could have a negative effect on an individuals quality of life. Lets discuss some signs and symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. 1. Those who are vitamin D deficient may feel more fatigued and tired. Since there are so many reasons why we can feel tired and fatigued during the day, such as lack of sleep or obesity, vitamin D deficiency is often overlooked. Vitamin D deficiency can cause daytime fatigue or even make it harder to get out of bed in the mornings, even with quality sleep. 2. Vitamin D plays an important role in keeping our immune system strong and free from different bacteria and illness. This is because vitamin D directly effects the cells that are responsible for fighting against infection. Therefore, another sign and symptom of vitamin D deficiency is getting sick more often. Low levels of vitamin D can be a contributing factor to becoming infected with cold and flus more often. As well, it has been found that taking vitamin D supplements may reduce the risk of certain respiratory tract infections. 3. Another possible symptom of vitamin D deficiency is bone and lower back pain. Vitamin D is an important vitamin for maintaining overall bone health. It supports bone health and helps with the body’s absorption of calcium. It has been found that those individuals with a vitamin D deficiency were more like to have back pain which often limited their daily activities. As well, they were also more likely to have bone pain through out their bodies, such as in their legs and joints. A deficiency in this vitamin will not only cause bone pain, but it can also cause bone loss since it not only helps with calcium absorption, but also bone metabolism. This can lead to lower bone mineral density. 4. Vitamin D deficiency may also negatively effect our mood. Feelings of depression may be a sign of vitamin D deficiency. This has often been linked to older adults. By being deficient in this vitamin, it may also cause seasonal depression during the colder months, when exposure to sunlight is limited. Depression and all mental health symptoms are complex and should be discussed with your medical practitioner to determine its exact cause and remedy. 5. Lastly, another sign and symptom of vitamin D deficiency may be hair loss. When hair loss is severe, this can be the result of nutrient deficiency. Hair loss may be a sign of vitamin D deficiency in female-patten hair loss. As well, there have been links found between low levels of vitamin D and alopecia areata, and low levels of this vitamin may be a risk factor for developing this autoimmune disease which can effect hair loss. Be sure to discuss any of the above signs and symptoms with your medical practitioner to determine their exact cause and also to discuss the correct amount of vitamin D you should be taking daily to support your health. A Beginners Guide: Nutrient Deficiency

23:59
Today, Ethan Walter discusses nutrient deficiencies: what they are, how to identify them, and how to treat them. A nutrient deficiency occurs when a plant is not getting enough of a nutrient for the normal plant functions. Common deficiencies are N, P, K, (three of the macronutrients), and Ca, Mg, and Fe. In previous videos like this one (https://youtu.be/jaZ_x-sgLO4), you learned that nutrients are measured in water with a number called EC. EC is a very useful number, but it doesn’t tell you what *ratio* of one nutrient to another is. If you have the wrong ratio of one nutrient to another, you could be reading the EC as sufficient, when a certain nutrient is actually too low. Deficiencies are identified by their symptoms. Some common deficiencies are chlorosis, necrosis, and stunted growth. The pattern that those symptoms occur in are important. Pay attention to where symptoms occur, whether it’s on new or old growth, and what combinations symptoms occur in. Plant nutrients are categorized as either mobile or immobile in the plant. Mobile nutrient deficiencies occur first in older growth, and immobile nutrients occur in younger growth. A plant deficiency key is a useful tool for farmers to identify deficiencies. If you’re still having trouble, consult with your local extension agents. Google is not a great way to ID deficiencies unless it’s from a peer reviewed source Treat deficiencies by supplementing the nutrient that is lacking. You can supplement through your nutrient reservoir or foliar feeding (but be careful; high concentrations can burn the foliage and ruin a crop). Consider making regular supplements or switching suppliers if the deficiency occurs commonly. Here are some common deficiencies and diagnosis tips: Nitrogen is the “green up” nutrient. Nitrogen is mobile, so it will affect older growth first, and will cause total chlorosis starting at the tip of the leaf. You will also see stunted growth. Phosphorus deficiency rarely displays outward symptoms noticeably or quickly. You may see stunted growth and the leaves will begin to get darker and purplish/bronze. Like nitrogen, these symptoms will begin on the old growth. Potassium deficiencies is slow to show symptoms similar to phosphorus. Over time, you’ll see chlorosis around the edge of the leaf (the margin). Chlorosis will move from the tip to the back, but will leave the center of the leaf untouched. Like nitrogen, these symptoms will begin on the old growth. Magnesium is a very common deficiency in hydroponics. It’s mobile, so it starts on old growth first. It looks similar to nitrogen deficiency, but will have inter veinal chlorosis instead of complete chlorosis. It also turns almost completely white (in comparison to the light green of a nitrogen deficiency). When you correct it, the old foliage will stay chlorotic, but new leaves will look healthy. Calcium is an immobile nutrient, so it affects the the top of the plant (new growth) first. Calcium deficiencies show up as necrosis on the margin on the leaf. It will usually start at the tip of the leaf - which gets confused with tip burn - but be splotchy along the margin unlike tip burn. *Calcium deficiency happens a lot in indoor systems with poor HVAC systems. The more airflow, the more respiration the plant does, allowing the immobile calcium to be sent to the leaf tip. Another cause is high humidity. Try to keep humidity between 40-60%. Iron is an immobile nutrient, so it affects the the top of the plant (new growth) first. The example used here is basil, and it’s worth mentioning that basil deal with this a lot. The symptom is inter veinal chlorosis in new growth, similar to calcium. *Iron deficiencies are especially common in symptoms that use UV filtration. The UV light creates a chemical reaction in the plant-ready iron (chelated iron) and makes it precipitate out of the solution. It sinks to the bottom, and the plants can’t use it. When we add iron, we unplug the UV filter for 24 hours. Iron can also be added through foliar applications. ----------------- Timestamps/What’s Covered: 00:17 What are Nutrient Deficiencies? 00:49 Common Deficiencies 02:19 Identifying Deficiencies 04:23 Treating Deficiencies 07:00 Nitrogen 08:45 Phosphorus 10:09 Potassium 11:58 Magnesium 13:49 Iron 16:21 Calcium 21:48 Recap ----------------- Connect with Bright Agrotech: Website: https://brightagrotech.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BrightAgrotech/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/BrightAgrotech Instagram: https://instagram.com/zipgrow ----------------- Music by: Scott Gratton http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Gratton/

B12 is necessary for blood cells, energy metabolism, myelin and many other things. However, a low stomach acid can prevent the absorption of B12 so despite taking B12, nothing will work if your stomach acids are too weak. What Are Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms?

06:05
For more info: https://draxe.com/vitamin-d-deficiency-symptoms/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Apr-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=vitaminddeficiency In this video I’m going to talk about the benefits of vitamin D as well as symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. In certain studies, Americans has been found to be the #1 population in vitamin D deficiency. Some of the main symptoms of vitamin D deficiency are a weakened immune system, candida or bacterial overgrowth, emotional ups and downs, hormone imbalance, trouble putting on muscle or losing weight, weakened bones or teeth, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Vitamin D supports having a healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and more. The biggest causes of vitamin D deficiency are not getting enough sunlight, certain chemicals from plastic bottles (bpa), and toxicity. Try to get outside everyday for about 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight. Certain foods that are sources of vitamin D are wild caught fish, raw fermented milk, mushrooms, and eggs. However, there are small amounts in the food you eat. For a good supplement, I would recommend a high quality vitamin D supplement. You don’t want to take vitamin D2, but you do want to take vitamin D3. For supplementation, take about 2000-5000 IUs a day. However, if you have a severe deficiency, then for 1-2 months, you may take 5000 IUs twice daily. Lastly, you want to take your vitamin D3 with some form of fat like coconut oil or avocado to help absorption in your body. Multivitamins, B complex vitamins, most iron supplements, hair & nail supplements, and so many others all contain synthetic B vitamins, often in huge amounts. Interestingly, certain B vitamins are known to cause acne in susceptible people, even those with previously perfectly clear skin. I've tried B vitamins many times because I know how good they are for stress but each time they start giving me oily skin and major breakouts within a few weeks, and I'm not the only one. That's why I think it's important to share this information with you. As so many of us take some sort of B vitamins in our supplements, perhaps it could be the cause of your breakouts, too? The Truth about Magnesium & Copper: Food Industry Secrets- Thomas DeLauer

09:54
The Truth about Magnesium & Copper: Food Industry Secrets- Thomas DeLauer.. http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com - More Information on How to be Your Best Self Check out my Favorite Magnesium Brand at: http://www.JigsawHealth.com Magnesium is a mineral that many of us are deficient in because of the standard American diet. The numerous ways that magnesium deficiency are detrimental to health are many and with deeper understanding, the list continues to grow. -Impacts nerve and muscle health There are 18 essential minerals that play roles in all of our body processes. There are 4 that are of particular importance for liver and body health and balance: magnesium, calcium, iron and copper. These 4 are so important because much of our adverse health problems are caused by too much iron and too little magnesium. Magnesium and calcium act together as counterbalances. For example: -Mg calms cells, Ca excites them -Mg necessary to relax muscles, Ca (in concert with potassium) cause muscles to contract -Mg plays a role in keeping blood flowing; Ca is involved in blood clotting -Ca contributes to bone hardness: Mg found mostly in soft body structures -Ca is involved in the fight-or-flight response and in inflammation; Mg is involved in balancing this through calm and reducing inflammation It follows that if we are stressed, maybe caused by work, life, or even extreme exercise, we need plenty of magnesium to regain balance. Magnesium burn rate is the rate at which we burn magnesium. It appears that this rate increases as we age. The idea is to fix mitochondrial functioning through the balancing of magnesium, calcium, iron and copper. Why these four minerals? We have already discussed the importance of calcium and magnesium, so now we should understand iron and copper. Iron is the #1 most abundant mineral on earth. As we go through life, we accumulate iron. Mg and Fe fight over available oxygen. These two mineral events criss-cross at about 40 - when much of the illness, aches and pains kick in. This is largely due to excess iron and deficient magnesium. Iron oxide is involved in the aging processes inside of our mitochondria. It changes enzymatic pathways and can cause a lack of ATP, which our bodies need to function! ATP doesn’t work unless it is complexed with magnesium, which affects the functioning of 3700 proteins in the body. As we go through stress iron builds up in the liver, and as we age magnesium burn rate increases. This rate is also higher when we are under stress. Copper is another important mineral - you can’t make ATP unless you have bioavailable forms of copper. Copper is the mineral that makes sure that things are oxidized properly. Dr. Morley’s RCP: Concentrate on the stops and the starts to get this in balance. Stops: 1. Stop taking hormone/vitamin D a. V D stops the liver’s production of ceruloplasmin i. Low vitamin D due to low magnesium. Every facet of VD metabolism is magnesium dependent. Taking VD can make the situation worse 2. Stop taking calcium and iron supplements 3. Stop taking ascorbic acid 4. Stay clear of high fructose corn syrup and colors 5. Stop lowfat - have plenty of fat in the diet, it is important 6. Stop using industrialized oils based on omega-6 fats 7. Steer clear of fluoride - far reaching and profound effect 8. No multivitamins or prenatals 9. No citrate - disrupts liver’s ability to make ceruloplasmin 10. No colloidal silver - it impacts copper status (silver sits below copper on the periodic table) Starts: 1. Use cod liver oil 2. Start magnesium supplementation 3. Whole food vitamin c 4. Forms of B-vitamins from way of mother nature - bee pollen, rice bran, beef liver 5. Use silica - helps to pull aluminum out of the liver 6. Start ancestral diet 7. Take boron, taurine and iodine Learn to distinguish between functional and absolute iron deficiency - almost impossible to have a total shortage of iron, but you can have a shortage of functional iron. Happens when don’t have enough bioavailable copper. Anemia of chronic inflammation leads to low Mg, low ceruloplasmin, low serum iron, etc. Excess unbound iron will lead to a loss of magnesium due to pH of a cell to be too acidic which leads to magnesium loss which leads to inflammation. Inflammation is a clinical indication of deficient magnesium, which was originally determined in 1992 in a study on rats where magnesium deficient diets led to an increase in inflammatory markers. Inflammation is a gateway to many diseases. Additionally, pathogens feed on iron, so we do not want to have excess iron levels in our diet. References: 1. IRON_ You May Not be Low! A Fun video by Markus Rothkranz

IRON- Learn all about it ! Our Raw Vegan Health Cookbook: http://www.markusworld.com/healthycookbook/iron Facebook: http://www.markusworld.com/facebook/iron Instagram: http://www.markusworld.com/instagram/iron Markus Rothkranz website: http://www.markusworld.com/Markus/iron Online Health Store: http://www.markusworld.com/products/iron German website: http://www.markusworld.com/german/iron Markus Rothkranz takes you on an entertaining Steampunk journey to learn all about iron, where to get it, the benefits and the dangers. You may not be low, in fact, you may have too much. Learn the facts. Low iron may be from internal bleeding caused by NSAIDs, parasites or leaky gut from eating refined foods, especially sugar, bread, wheat, pasta, baked goods etc. Yeast from these things mutates into fungus which eats holes in the digestive tract and colon, causing leaky gut, IBS, Crohns Chrons Crones disease. IRON is in almost everything. It is very essential for the body to have the proper amount of it. Most of the time the problem is not that the body doesn’t have enough; it’s that the body is not absorbing it efficiently. You must have ample stomach acid to absorb iron properly. Symptoms of iron deficiency are you being tired a lot, muscle weakness, dry hair and other things. Having the proper amount helps strengthen the immune system, creates blood, heals wounds, and keeps hair young and much more. Too much iron can be toxic to the body https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/encyclopedia/content.aspx?contenttypeid=19&contentid=iron Iron is very toxic in large amounts. In just three to four days, toxic levels of iron can cause death. In a severe overdose, iron quickly destroys the lining of the intestinal tract. It may lead to perforations of the intestine. Free iron ions in the bloodstream destroy the lining of the blood vessels, endothelium. This leads to irreversible shock. Too much iron can also cause severe liver damage. Coffee and tea, due to tannins, taken with meals blocks iron absorption https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2598894 The aims of the studies were as follows: To study the effect of small phenolic compounds with different hydroxylation patterns, gallic acid, catechin, chlorogenic acid, on iron absorption, To study the effect of different amounts of a hydrolysable tannin containing ten gallic acid residues, tannic acid, on iron absorption. To study the degree of inhibition of iron absorption by some foods and beverages, oregano, spinach, coffee and tea, in relation to their respective content of iron-binding phenolic groups, measured by a newly developed method. The inhibition of iron absorption by tannic acid was strongly dose-related. http://www.nutritionist-resource.org.uk/nutritionist-articles/is-your-daily-cuppa-leaving-you-lower-in-iron One study has shown that tea consumption may reduce iron absorption by as much as 60% and coffee reduces its uptake by 50%. The tannins in both tea and coffee adversely affect iron availability, which could lead to iron deficiency anemia. Calcium blocks iron absorption http://www.nutritionmd.org/health_care_providers/hematology/ironanemia_nutrition.html Caseins from milk and certain forms of calcium inhibit iron absorption. http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/supplements-can-interfere-iron-absorption-9091.html Calcium makes it harder for your body to absorb either supplemental iron or iron from food, according to the National Institutes of Health. Calcium competes for absorption with iron in your intestines and reduces its uptake. Low stomach acid is one cause of low iron http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healthlibrary/conditions/hematology_and_blood_disorders/iron-deficiency_anemia_85,P00077/ Malabsorption of iron is common after some forms of gastrointestinal surgeries. Synthetic ascorbic acid, commercial “vitamin C”, depletes iron, while herbal vitamin C helps absorption http://www.naturalnews.com/043035_vitamin_C_nutritional_supplements_ascorbic_acid.html Synthetic ascorbic acid does not have the same biological properties and therefore benefits as true vitamin C found for example in fruits, berries, vegetables and many other natural sources. Folate Deficiency Symptoms and 6 Health Benefits

09:13
Folate, also known vitamin B9, is one of many essential vitamins needed for copying and synthesizing DNA, producing new cells, and supporting nerve and immune functions. As a water-soluble B vitamin, it’s naturally present in some foods, added to others and available as a dietary supplement in the form of folic acid. Studies show that a diet high in folate-rich foods can help prevent cancer, heart disease, birth defects, anemia and cognitive decline. The Copper Conspiracy - What the Media and Doctors Failed to Tell Us

12:01
Copper has been one of the most life-changing miracles for me, which was totally unexpected after a year of battling "copper toxicity". I had to rethink everything I knew about copper and that led me to the other side of information out there. It's crazy how if you research copper toxicity, you'll find only information supporting it and it will seem like copper is the biggest villain out there. But if you research copper health benefits, things you find will blow your mind. A lot of us are copper deficient, yet the media and doctors fail to acknowledge it or to openly discuss it. Such a shame! Hope you find this video interesting and eye-opening. Thanks so much for watching! Iron overload disorder: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

14:49
Iron overload disorder: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment Hemochromatosis is an iron overload disorder in which a person absorbs too much iron from the food and drink they consume. Left untreated, it can damage various organs in the body. The skin takes on a bronze color. The surplus iron is stored in the liver, heart, pancreas, and other organs. Damage to the pancreas can lead to diabetes. Hereditary hemochromatosis can also lead to cancer and heart disease. Hemochromatosis can be primary, a result of genetic alterations, or secondary, as a result of another disease or condition. Primary hemochromatosis mostly affects white people. In the United States, it affects around 5 white people in every 1,000, and 10 percent of white people carry one of the genes related to the condition. However, many people have the gene mutation but no symptoms. As women regularly lose blood during menstruation, hemochromatosis is less common among females than males. Blood loss reduces iron levels.

How to Naturally Overcome Vitamin D Deficiency

06:19
For more on naturally overcoming Vitamin D deficiency, you can check my article: http://draxe.com/vitamin-d-deficiency/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Nov-2014&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=vitamind In this video, I’m going to talk about how to overcome Vitamin D deficiency with diet and lifestyle. Vitamin D is a prohormone, which is essential for balancing the hormones in your body, and a fat-soluble vitamin, which supports the brain, bones, and tissue. Some warning signs that you may be Vitamin D deficient are if you struggle with any type of mood disorder, autoimmune disease, weak bones, weak muscles, or poor immune system. In order to overcome a Vitamin D deficiency, you may want to get outside more often to get 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight. The average person should be getting about 5000 IUs a day. You also want to be consuming more Vitamin D-rich foods like wild-caught fish, raw fermented dairy products, egg yokes, and mushrooms. Lastly, you want to be consuming a high quality Vitamin D3 supplement (5000 IUs daily). If you want to overcome Vitamin D deficiency, follow these steps and you will start seeing results! *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. Folic acid Health benefits/Deficiency/Causes/ Side effects/Treatment in Hindi

11:41
Hi everyone, Folate and folic acid are forms of a water-soluble B vitamin. Folate occurs naturally in food, and folic acid is the synthetic form of this vitamin. Foods that are naturally high in folate include leafy vegetables (such as spinach, broccoli, and lettuce), lady finger, fruits (such as bananas, melons, and lemons) beans, mushrooms, meat (such as liver and kidney), orange juice, and tomato juice. Folic acid is used for preventing and treating low blood levels of folate (folate deficiency), as well as its complications, including anemia and the inability of the bowel to absorb nutrients properly. Selenium Deficiency Symptoms & Early Warning Signs (+ What to do Next)

11:53
This video is all about selenium deficiency, how it presents, what to do about it and how to know if you are overdosing on selenium supplements. First off: Why is selenium important? Selenium plays an important role in regulating several key enzymes in your body. These enzymes control the production of thyroid hormones, glutathione, and even your metabolism. If you don't have enough selenium in your body then these enzymes may not function properly which may cause certain and specific symptoms. The warning signs of selenium deficiency include: 1. Hair loss - Selenium (along with other nutrients) helps your hair grow. A lack of selenium may trigger hair loss or alopecia. Just realize that other nutrients, including iron, are also important for hair growth so not all causes of hair loss are necessarily caused by selenium deficiency. 2. Thyroid dysfunction - Selenium forms the backbone of a group of enzymes known as the deiodinases. These enzymes help to metabolize and either activate or inactive thyroid hormone in your body. A lack of selenium may impact these enzymes and lead to problems such as hypothyroidism. 3. Weakened immune system - Selenium plays an important role in immune system regulation and helps to prevent you from getting sick and developing autoimmune disease. A lack of selenium may predispose you to develop an autoimmune disease such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis (or others) and can even be used to help treat these diseases. 4. Fatigue - It's not clear exactly how selenium deficiency causes fatigue but it may have to do with how it influences both your thyroid and your mitochondria. We do know, however, that some groups of patients benefit from increased energy when using selenium. 5. Low serum thyroid lab tests - This is an extension of #2. Selenium deficiency can impact the absolute levels of thyroid hormone (especially T3) in your body and this can be measured through routine thyroid lab tests. 6. Iron dysregulation - Selenium impacts how your body regulates and metabolizes iron and a deficiency has been associated with both low and high iron levels. 7. Other mineral deficiencies - Selenium deficiency can exacerbate other minerals and may lead to other symptoms. It's probably more likely that whatever condition caused low selenium in your body also is leading to other deficiencies in minerals such as magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, and copper. Just be sure to look for these minerals if you have low selenium as well! 8. Muscle pain - With low selenium, you may also develop muscle pain or fatigue. This is because selenium helps produce energy and low energy (or ATP) may predispose you to develop muscle pain. If you have any of these symptoms then you can use selenium supplements to help treat your deficiency. Using around 50 to 150mcg per day of Selenium is a safe dose. The maximum dose you should use would be up to 400mcg per day. Most people are fine on lower doses as long as they actively try to consume other foods high in selenium as well. Signs of selenium overdose or toxicity may include: - Worsening hair loss - Brittle fingernails or fingernail damage - Nausea or vomiting - Memory difficulties If you experience any of these symptoms then that may be a sign you are taking too much. You can cut back on your dose to help reduce the symptoms or even skip a few days. Hey guys! I'm Dr. Westin Childs and I focus on thyroid health, hormone balance, and weight loss.
