The most modern and advanced country in the world? Well, Japan is certainly at the top, but it wasn't always that way. Before the Meiji Restoration (1868) Japan was closed to the outside world. Before 1868, it was the time of the samurai and feudal society. After 1868, Japan started to compete internationally for the first time during the industrial revolution. At the time, the most sought after good with the MADE IN JAPAN label was ... SILK. The TOMIOKA SILK MILL and the JOBU SILK ROAD in Gunma Prefecture is the area where Japan's industrial revolution took place and between 1872 and 1987, the silk mill turned out the highest quality of silk in the world. Today, the silk mill is on the UNESCO World Heritage site and a reminder of where Japan started it's tech revolution. It's worth a visit to see where modern Japan came from, buy some chocolate silk worms and see the remnants of an era past. Its origin is in the tropics of the Americas, perhaps from southern Mexico and neighboring Central America Digestion. Papayas contain an enzyme called papain that aids digestion; in fact, it can be used as a meat tenderizer. Papaya is also high in fiber and water content, both of which help to prevent constipation and promote regularity and a healthy digestive tract. Again, the proteolytic enzyme papain makes papaya an effective treatment for acne (9). Apart from the fruit itself, the leaves, skin, and seeds also contain certain enzymes that can diminish scars and blemishes. Use the thick and even pulp of a ripe papaya as a face mask and leave it on for 15-20 minutes Antioxidants are compounds that inhibit the oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that can produce free radicals, thereby leading to chain reactions that may damage the cells of organisms Antioxidants and free radicals. Antioxidants are found in certain foods and may prevent some of the damage caused by free radicals by neutralising them. These include the nutrient antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E, and the minerals copper, zinc and selenium In biology, immunity is the balanced state of multicellular organisms having adequate biological defenses to fight infection, disease, or other unwanted biological invasion, while having adequate tolerance to avoid allergy, and autoimmune diseases. When it comes to building strong bones, there are two key nutrients: calcium and vitamin D. Calcium supports your bones and teeth structure, while vitamin D improves calcium absorption and bone growth. These nutrients are important early in life, but they may also help as you age The human digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus the accessory organs of digestion. Mango lassi is a common drink in Indian restaurants and it's made from a combination of mangoes, yogurt, and spices. Not only are mangoes a rich source of digestive enzymes, they're also an excellent source of potassium, vitamin A, and beta-carotene. Mangoes are also a good source of vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and fiber. Kiwifruit (actinidin) -- The actinidin enzyme in kiwifruit eases digestion due to it's proteolytic enzyme qualities. Actinidin is also found in pineapples, papayas, and mangoes. Aside from kiwi being a great source of digestive enzymes, it's also a great source of several other nutrients including vitamin C (almost twice the amount in an orange), magnesium, and potassium. Kiwi also acts as a blood thinner without the adverse side effects of asprin. Figs (ficin) -- Used as a meat tenderizing agent, ficin is another protease (proteolytic) enzyme that eases digestion. Ficin is found primarily in figs. Figs provide several other health benefits as well. How I started to get to my dress-size goal week after week. See meals below. After duck & brood, watch cooking tips and demo. This program works! I have been doing this 3 weeks and went down from American size 12 to just fitting into my stretch size 8 pants (trousers if you are from UK). Here's the Program in a Nutshell: Eat at the Right Time with the Right Foods. The key to fat burning is to maintain the metabolism rate by keeping the blood sugar even all day. This is done by eating small meals every 2-3 hours. To prevent insulin spikes, consume very low glycemic foods, no juices, crackers or rice cakes, or meal bars or candy, no sweeteners including honey and no dairy. Gradually detox your body using free range meats and eggs, wild caught arctic and Alaskan fish, organic and spray-free vegetables and fruit and whole grains. Use good enamel cookware or high chromium stainless steel cookware, no chemically coated pans. The body burns fat if you keep fat intake very low, no oil or butter, eat protein in every meal: The following serving sizes for protein are for women. For men add an additional egg white and one ounce of meat to the prescribed serving of protein. Breakfast: 3 egg whites or 2 egg whites with 2 oz. (60 gm) skinless white meat chicken or turkey. To get brain chemistry off to a good start, eat as soon as you get up in the morning and have no more than 30 gm carbs like a small apple or half a grapefruit, or 1 cup (240 gm) veggies at breakfast. Snacks: 2 Snacks a day of either 3 oz. (90 gm) canned skinless and boneless, no salt added Keta salmon, white fish or chicken or turkey with a cup of salad greens or 1/2 cup of cooked veggies or 1 apple. You can grill or water sauté meats and vegetables. You can add a few drops of low sodium Tamari sauce toward the end of cooking. Vary green herbs, cilantro, tarragon, sage, oregano, rosemary, parsley and onions, leeks, garlic. These are anti-microbial and can help to heal the gut. You can boil vegetables if you have oxalate problems. Use the smartphone App, Eat Right For Your Type by Peter D’Adamo to choose the right foods for your genetics. This is an important step to reduce fluid-retention producing inflammatory reactions in the body. Vegetables are the non-starchy types, leafy salad greens, bok choy, Chinese cabbage or vegetable fruits like bell pepper, zucchini, yellow squash. Lunch and Dinner: For lunch and dinner you can substitute 1-2 oz 30-60 gm of very lean beef or lamb or Sockeye salmon plus 1 egg white for chicken, turkey or fish. You increase your carbohydrates by adding 1/2 cup (about 150 gm) cooked rice or millet or small potato. No pasta or bread. On days you keep your heart rate aerobic (200 minus your age times .6) for 40 minutes to an hour, eat 1 cup (240 gm) cooked oatmeal with a few Wakame seaweed flakes and a few drops of low sodium Tamari with the your snack. Start with 40 minutes or wherever you are at and work up. Exercise appropriate for you 3-4 times a week. If at any time you start feeling the light-headed, dizziness of low blood sugar, eat 6 raisins and then add a snack serving. Use digestive enzymes if your tummy feels uncomfortable, especially if your last meal less than 4 hours before bedtime. Finally, correct your immune system and digestion with daily probiotics with Lactobacillus plantarum and L. rhamnosus. Before starting any dietary changes be sure you are cleared medically. You should also have your genome mapped to determine the right vitamins and minerals you need to maintain a healthy long life.
