5 Reasons Armour thyroid Isn't Helping you with Weight Loss

21:44
In this video I go over the 5 main reasons that patients who switch from Levothyroxine to Armour thyroid DON'T lose weight. Many patients believe that switching from T4 to NDT will cause immediate weight loss and are disappointed when it doesn't happen. The truth is that Armour thyroid CAN help with weight loss but you need to make sure that these 5 barriers aren't standing in your way: 1. Your dose isn't high enough - Many Doctors under dose patients when converting from T4 medication to NDT by about 50%. Use the chart in this video to make sure your dose is high enough. 2. You need more T3 added to your regimen - Several conditions like euthyroid sick syndrome or tissue level hypothyroidism make it so patients need more T3 than what Armour thyroid provides. So while armour may be a step in the right direction you may need more T3 added to your NDT. 3. You are suffering from Leptin resistance - High leptin levels decrease T4 to T3 conversion and can make weight loss impossible unless it is addressed. Use this video to help you find out if you have leptin resistance and if you need to treat it. 4. You are reacting to fillers in Armour thyroid - Many patients react poorly to the methylcellulose that is used in Armour thyroid. It can reduce the amount of free thyroid hormone that is absorbed when you take this medication. Make sure this isn't limiting the amount of thyroid hormone your body can absorb! 5. Your Reverse T3 is TOO high - High levels of reverse T3 effectively put the brake on your thyroid system and can result in a slow metabolism and symptoms of hypothyroidism. Taking T4 only medications and even sometimes NDT like armour thyroid can cause high levels of reverse T3. Find out how to treat and check for this condition. Hypothyroidism case study 40 pound weight loss over 6 months with before/after pictures

28:06
Video # 2 in a weight loss with hypothyroidism video series. This video represents an actual hypothyroid patient from my practice who lost 40 pounds over 6 months with before/after pictures. You will immediately notice her changes in the picture above and I walk you through in detail how YOU can get these types of changes as well. Hypothyroid patients almost always have difficulty with weight loss due to a variety of reasons. Most patients wrongly believe that their weight loss problem is due primarily to a lack of thyroid hormone and that's where they are wrong. Low thyroid hormone by itself causes a slow metabolism but it also causes and encourages other hormone imbalances. Specifically it leads to insulin resistance, leptin resistance and even estrogen/progesterone imbalances. It is these changes that make future weight loss impossible. So that means focusing on thyroid hormone alone generally won't result in significant weight loss. Even adding on NDT or T3 to your regimen will likely result in 5-10 pounds of weight loss at MOST. Compare that to focusing on the other hormone imbalances and you can see the advantage in this case study above. I show you exactly how to test for the following hormone imbalances: 1. Adrenal related issues (checking cortisol levels) 2. Thyroid resistance (by checking free T3 and reverse T3) 3. Low testosterone (by checking free and total testosterone) 4. Estrogen dominance (by checking estradiol + progesterone) 5. Checking for leptin resistance (by checking fasting serum leptin levels) 6. Checking for insulin resistance (by checking fasting insulin and Hgb A1c) I also go over the treatment for each of these conditions and show you how the patient above was able to get these results. This particular patient has Hashimoto's thyroiditis, but this will also work for patients who have hypothyroidism. In addition I go over how to correctly pick the right diet to allow for weight loss in this patient population. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/weight-loss-naturethroid/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Armour Thyroid - Best Natural Hypothyroidism Treatment

02:20
http://www.HypothyroidRevolution.org | Hypothyroidism Natural Treatment - Cure The Disease Naturally http://www.HypothyroidRevolution.org | Hypothyroidism is a condition which usually goes unnoticed for a long time. It is a condition where the thyroid gland is not able to produce enough hormones leading to weight gain, fatigue, insomnia, brittle and dry skin, constipation, dry hair, memory loss, depression, no menses and thickened tongue. People suffering from these symptoms may have to consult a doctor immediately and take the necessary medical help. You can also make use of hypothyroidism natural treatment to get rid of this condition. A person suffering from hypothyroidism may have low levels of hormones like T3 and T4. So a simple way of treatment includes either providing the hormones to the body or helping the body to produce these hormones according to the requirement. Sometimes, the patients are also given hormone treatment which uses natural or synthetic hormones. Synthetic hormones are not very favorable because some of them may develop side effects also. Natural cures for the condition come in different forms of supplements of vitamins and minerals like selenium, iodine, tyrosine, bladder wrack, thyroid glandular and coconut oil. Iodine is very important for producing the thyroid hormones. When it is mixed with amino acids it is transformed to T3 hormones. In the same way, selenium is very important in the production of T4 hormones. Amino acid tyrosine is also very important for producing the hormones. A natural powder called thyroid granular is taken from pigs, cows, and sheep. It helps to improve the overall functioning of the thyroid gland. Bladder wrack is rich in iodine content and helps the gland to function properly. Coconut oil is also a very useful natural component used to treat hypothyroidism. It raises the body temperature and metabolism. The most important part of natural cure is controlling your diet. Iodine rich foods are very useful for treating hypothyroidism. Foods rich in iodine like organic vegetables, seafood and shell fish etc should also be consumed in large quantities. Foods like spinach, broccoli, peanuts, cassava, soybeans and millets reduce the function of the thyroid gland, so you have to avoid these foods. By trying various hypothyroidism natural treatment options you will be able to treat the condition effectively. Use of supplements containing vitamin A, B, C, E and D are very useful.

6 Effective Ways To Lose Weight With The “Hypothyroid Diet Method”

05:08
6 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT WITH THE “HYPOTHYROID DIET METHOD” !! Your thyroid gland helps regulate the way your cells utilize energy from food in the process known as metabolism. This also affects your heartbeat, your body’s temperature, and the way your body burns calories. In fact, there are 2 major types of thyroid disorders, such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Moreover, hypothyroidism is a common thyroid disorder characterized by underproduction of the thyroid hormone. This thyroid disorder occurs when your thyroid doesn’t create enough thyroid hormones. Furthermore, the most common symptoms of this health problem include weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, depression, irregular periods, forgetfulness, constipation, fatigue, muscle cramps, and feeling cold. It is important to understand that weight gain is one of the early warning signs of this health issue So, Here Are 6 Solutions That Can Help You Balance Your Meals, Improve Your Thyroid Health, and Prevent Weight Gain: Start by Following These Recommendations: • Learn more about refined sugar • Be committed to eating healthy You Should Avoid Eating Simple Carbs Found in: • Packaged Cereal • Soda • Flavored Juices • Corn Syrup Sweetened Products • White Flour Products • Table Sugar Replace these carbs with complex carbs. Complex carbs are not processed by your body too quickly, thus making you feel full for longer. Also, unlike simple carbs, these carbs do not lead to addiction. Here Are Some Complex Carb Foods: • Oatmeal • Raw fruits or 100% Natural Fruit Juice • Whole Wheat • Brown Rice Get Regular Exercise to Stimulate Your Body to Burn More Fat Get regular exercise in order to stimulate your body to burn fat. You should practice specific exercises that can boost your metabolism and help you burn fatter. In case you exercise at average intensity, it could induce the hormone production rate of your thyroid gland, thus preventing weight gain. For instance, focus on aerobic, running, walking, and other cardio exercises. Introduce Coconut Oil in Your Daily Diet ! Most vegetable oils possess fatty acids that can slow down your thyroid function, as well as contribute to weight gain. However, coconut oil is high in healthy fats. Namely, the medium-chain fatty acids present in coconut oil can improve the function of your thyroid. What’s more, they can also enhance your insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance. You can use this oil in cooking, or take it about twenty minutes before having a meal to boost your metabolism and prevent fat accumulation. Healthy Snacks : Even though most people practice snacking in their diet, this could be harmful to your weight in case you do not know how and what to use as a snack. A few snacks at a specific time of the day rather than your regular meals could help keep you feel full for a while. Also, this could help decrease the total intake of calories.

HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT WITH AN UNDERACTIVE THYROID - how to diet with an underactive thyroid

02:18
HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT WITH AN UNDERACTIVE THYROID If you want to lose weight with an underactive thyroid vegies and a source of protein should be the foundation of almost every meal you make and plated first when serving... Losing weight and keeping it off can be a struggle. Especially if you have an underactive thyroid. Your metabolism has slowed down and you’re almost always feeling tired. Optimise Your Thyroid Medication Correcting your thyroid medication is first priority. While Levothyroxine is on average more effective, Armour is reportedly much better tolerated Cut Back on Added Sugars and Refined Starches Added sugar makes up a large portion of the excess calories the average person consumes each day. Cutting down is critical if you want to successfully lose weight. Base Meals Around Vegetables and Protein Protein foods and vegetables should make up the majority of your plate. They are generally the most filling and/or nutrient- dense foods per calorie. Increase your intake of Selenium and Zinc Consuming a diet naturally rich in selenium and zinc is critical for thyroid health and function. Go for lots of seafood, legumes, nuts and seeds. Take regular walks or start lifting weights each week Regular exercise helps to kick- start weight loss and increase strength. If mobility is a problem, lifting weights or bodyweight exercises are a great alternative. Trial The Autoimmune Protocol Diet (AIP) Trialing the Autoimmune Protocol is an option if you have Hashimoto’s disease. It may help given its (theoretical) influence on inflammation and highly restrictive nature

9 Thyroid supplements Every Hypothyroid Patient Should Consider Using

36:41
Thyroid supplements (if used correctly) can help boost your thyroid function, help with weight loss and help you feel better. The problem comes with knowing WHICH supplements to take and at WHAT dose. It takes over 13 nutrients to create thyroid hormone, convert T4 to T3 and sensitize the cellular receptors to T3. Many thyroid supplements cram all of these nutrients into a supplement and call it "good". This is the WRONG approach to take. Instead basing your supplementation off of the needs of your body is far superior. That means using lab work and other markers to find what nutrients you need in what doses. 9 Thyroid supplements that I find most hypothyroid patients are deficient in: 1. Vitamin B12 - Thyroid hormone is involved in the proper absorption of thyroid hormone. See the video for a complete list of symptoms. Repleting low vitamin B12 is best done through sublingual or intramsucular injections. 2. Adrenal support - Most thyroid patients also have issues with cortisol dysregulation. If you have advanced adrenal fatigue most patients do better on adrenal glandulars. For more mild disease consider using adrenal adaptogens. If your cortisol is elevated consider using phosphatidylserine. 3. Zinc - Low levels of zinc can cause issues with your skin and issue with hair growth. Adding zinc boosts immune function, T4 to T3 conversion and acts as an anti inflammatory. Make sure to supplement with zinc bound to picolinic acid. 4. Iron - This is what I consider a "goldilocks" nutrient in that you don't want TOO much or TOO little. Unfortunately most doctors look for iron deficiency anemia and don't necessarily jus treat iron deficiency unless anemia accompanies it. Use these optimal levels to supplement with iron. 5. Magnesium - Hypothyroidism alters magnesium and low levels of magnesium can lead to issues like depression, anxiety and other changes like muscle cramps or restless leg syndrome. Replace low levels with magnesium glycinate, magnesium citrate if you have constipation or magnsium threonate if you have neurological issues. 6. Selenium - This nutrient is involved in the thyroid conversion process. Not only that but supplementing has been shown to reduce TPO antibodies and boost the immune system. In addition using iodine with selenium can help reduce negative side effects. 7. Probiotics - Up to 20% of thyroid conversion happens in the gut and inflammation can reduce this number. Hypothyroidism sets up the gut for imbalances that lead to inflammation. Using probiotics can help improve your GI function. 8. Digestive enzymes - Hypothyroidism leads to low stomach acid which can predispose patients to malabsorption of certain nutrients. Using enzymes can help digest your food, increase nutrient absorption and if taken in between meals may promote the breakdown of immune complexes. 9. Iodine - If used correctly iodine can be helpful in boosting thyroid function. The thyroid hormone is made up of iodine moieties and low levels of iodine can reduce the amount of functioning thyroid hormone in the body. The Thyroid Body Type

01:48
http://www.findyourbodytype.com The Thyroid Body Type. Your predominant characteristic is "weight gain all over". You most likely have a stubborn or slowed metabolism and the type of fat you accumulate is a spongy, waste-like product. In Stage One, you may have noticed some hair loss. You may start losing the outer part of your eye brows and get loose skin underneath your chin and arms. By stage 2, your nails become brittle, you will have some constipation and your feet feel cold; especially at night. Cravings start to kick in as a need for quick energy; since your body has lost its ability to absorb vitamins and nutrients from food. You will find yourself craving "quick energy sources" like breads, pasta, cereals, crackers, biscuits, pan cakes, muffins, Juices, and even alcohol. By Stage 3, The Thyroid Type experiences chronic fatigue and a feeling of depression. You may feel that you cannot handle any stress. You find yourself suffering from exhaustion despite how many hours of sleep you get. Take a look around and you'll notice something interesting about people's bodies - most of them fall into 4 shapes. To find your body type take this short survey at http://www.drberg.com

How To Take Levothyroxine Properly | Best Way To Take Thyroid Medication | When To Take Synthroid

03:25
How To Take Synthroid Properly | Best Way To Take Levothyroxine Correctly | When To Take Thyroid Medication After Eating Hey guys! This weeks video is all about how to take your thyroid medication properly to get the most out of it. Levothyroxine is a medicine used to treat an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) which affects 1 in 70 women and 1 in 1,000 men in the UK. The thyroid gland makes thyroid hormone which helps to control energy levels and growth. Levothyroxine is taken to replace the missing thyroid hormone. KEY FACTS: • Levothyroxine starts working straight away, but it may be several weeks before your symptoms start to improve. • The most common side effects of levothyroxine are caused by taking a bigger dose than you need. Your doctor can lower your dose to help reduce any side effects. • Before you start taking levothyroxine, your healthcare professional will do a blood test to see what dose you need. Once you start taking the medicine you'll have regular blood tests to see how well it’s working. HOW AND WHEN TO TAKE: • Unless told otherwise by your prescriber or healthcare professional take levothyroxine once a day in the morning, ideally at least 30-60 minutes before having breakfast or a drink containing caffeine like tea or coffee. • Both breakfast and caffeinated drinks can stop your body taking in levothyroxine properly so it doesn't work as well. • If you can't take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach take levothyroxine at least 2 hours after eating food. • If you buy any medicines, check with a pharmacist that they are safe to take with levothyroxine. Levothyroxine should not be taken at the same time as indigestion remedies or preparations containing calcium or iron (which are contained in some vitamin products). These types of medicines reduce the amount of levothyroxine absorbed by your body. Leave at least 2-4 hours between taking your dose of levothyroxine and any such preparation. • Soya interferes with thyroxine absorption, therefore if you are taking thyroxine you should try to avoid soya. If you wish to take soya, there should be as long a time interval as possible between eating the soya and taking the thyroxine. • Avoid products such as kelp, as they may interfere with thyroid function & wellbeing. Kelp is derived from seaweed and is naturally high in iodine. Because of this it is sometimes marketed as a "thyroid booster" and can be purchased in dry preparations and tablets. As with iodine itself, it is of no health benefit to those with thyroid disease. • Levothyroxine medication interactions link - https://bnf.nice.org.uk/interaction/levothyroxine.html BLOOD TESTS: Your healthcare professional will do regular blood tests to check the levels of thyroid hormones in your body before and after starting levothyroxine. These will allow your doctor to adjust your dose to suit you. At the start of treatment you can expect to have blood tests often. Once your hormone levels are stable, you’ll usually have a blood test after 4 to 6 months, and after that once a year. You may need blood tests more often if you: • Are pregnant • Start or stop a medicine that can interfere with levothyroxine • Have any symptoms that could mean your dose is not quite right MISSED DOSES: If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's almost time for your next dose. In which case just skip the forgotten dose. Do not take 2 doses together to make up for a missed dose. If you forget doses often, it may help to set an alarm to remind you. You could also ask your pharmacist for advice on other ways to help you remember to take your medicine. Want to see more videos about everything health and pharmacy? WP Thyroid Weight Loss: 55 pounds over 6 months with Before/After pictures

26:22
This video will walk you through a thyroid case study in which I show you how WP thyroid lead to weight loss in a patient of mine with before and after pictures. The combination of the right type of thyroid medication, plus managing hormones leads to significant weight loss in hypothyroid patients. Many patients wrongly believe that adding in thyroid medication will lead to significant weight loss and that is rarely the cause. In this example I walk you through: - How to decide which thyroid medication is best for your body, including going over the differences between WP Thyroid vs naturethroid vs armour thyroid - How to properly evaluate your blood tests to determine what is causing weight loss resistance in your body - How to address hormone imbalances other than hypothyroidism - What supplements to use to help with weight loss - How important diet, exercise and lifestyle interventions are for helping hypothyroid patients lose weight (hint: not as important as you may think) I use the lab results from this patient case study to show you how I look at hypothyroid patients including what lab values I use and what does of medication I use. I hope you find this article helpful as you try to lose weight with hypothyroidism! If you have any questions please leave them below. Does Cytomel Help with Weight Loss? Dosing guide + How to use it

21:54
Cytomel is a thyroid medication which contains T3. T3 is the active thyroid hormone which is responsible for the majority of actions related to your thyroid. That means T3 directly stimulates increased energy production, increased fat burn and increased metabolism. Through these mechanisms, and many others, cytomel and T3 can actually help certain thyroid patients to lose weight and feel better. Patients who should consider using T3 include: - Those with high reverse T3 levels. - Those with insulin resistance, leptin resistance or obesity. - Those with a history of bipolar disorder or depression. - Those with a history of fibromyalgia or chronic pain. - And lastly, those patients who have failed T4 only medications like synthroid or Levothyroxine. In this video I also outline how to use T3 and how to titrate your dose. Levothyroxine Side Effects - Complete List + Dosing Guide for Patients

21:10
In this video I go over the complete list of Levothyroxine side effects ranging from weight gain to hair loss and everything in between. Yes, Levothyroxine can cause hair loss and it can also cause weight GAIN. How can that be if levothyroxine is supposed to boost your metabolism? In this video I explain how the metabolism of thyroid hormone in your body from T4 to reverse T3 may help explain why many people actually gain weight on this particular medication. I also go over the recommendations I give to patients if this happens to them. I also go over how to determine which thyroid medication is right for YOUR Body and how to dose your levothyroxine. When patients have reactions to levothyroxine it's from 1 of 3 reasons typically: 1) they are reacting to a filler ingredient or a dye within the medication itself. 2) they are converting or metabolizing the thyroid hormone into by products that don't promote proper activity 3) they are getting too much thyroid hormone for THEIR body (this one is less common) The side effects when patients react to fillers or dyes include reactions like facial swelling, edema, hives, itching sensation, etc. The side effects from improper metabolism include reactions like weight gain, hair loss, slower than normal metabolism, cold hands/extremities, etc. The side effects from TOO much medication include: hot flashes, tachycardia or rapid heart rate, palpitations, hair loss, intolerance to heat. The treatment for each of these reactions is quite different and I explain what to do depending on how you are reacting. Leave your questions below! More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/levothyroxine-side-effects/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Does Levothyroxine Cause Weight Gain? What to do if it is slowing down your metabolism

22:11
Does Levothyroxine cause weight gain? That is the question I am going to answer in this video today. Here is a common problem: patients with hypothyroidism present to their doctor, get put on T4 medication like Levothyroxine or Synthroid and they CONTINUE to gain weight - despite no change in their diet or exercise routine. How can this be? In this video I answer what I think is going on in many patients and it has to do with T4 to reverse T3 conversion when certain patients are given medications that contain T4 only. In the setting of inflammation, trauma, infections, liver/kidney issues, low calorie diets and nutrient deficiencies the body can take T4 and convert it into the thyroid blocking metabolite reverse T3. High levels of reverse T3 then compete for binding at the T3 cellular receptor site and put the brakes on thyroid and metabolic function. So how do you treat this condition? Most patients will need medication containing T3 like natural desiccated thyroid or liothyronine/cytomel to "flush" the system. I also give several tips that I use in my office to help boost thyroid function if your doctor isn't willing to give you medication with T3 in it: 1. Optimize T4 to T3 conversion - I recommend you consider using Zinc or selenium: As promised here is the link to the zinc and selenium that I use in my office: Zinc: http://amzn.to/2aXp4Fg Selenium: http://amzn.to/2aHjTc5 2. Fix your adrenals - Consider using adrenal adaptogens or adrenal glandulars Here's what I use: DSF: http://amzn.to/2aC8l6d 3. Add high intensity exercise - To help lower insulin and leptin levels 4. Reduce inflammation and find hidden sources of inflammation - the easiest first place to look is at your diet 5. Lower leptin and insulin levels - It will be impossible to lose weight with leptin resistance and/or insulin resistance and both conditions reduce T4 to T3 conversion. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: http://www.restartmed.com/levothyroxine-weight-gain/ You can read more on my website here: http://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. If I Have No Thyroid, Do I Have to Take Thyroid Hormones (Synthroid)?

01:57
Get Dr. Berg's Keto and IF Summary pdf: https://m.me/drericberg?ref=w1162195 Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY Dr. Berg talks about if you need thyroid hormones if you have no thyroid gland. The answer is yes, but try to find a natural thyroid hormone because it makes multiple hormones. The T4 and T3 hormones are only made by the thyroid but coverted by the liver so it's not just a matter of taking thyroid hormones, its a matter of them being effective, so if your liver or gallbladder are a problem, then you may have thyroid hormones, but they are not becoming activated. How to lose weight with Hypothyroidism - 5 Case Studies and Real Life Examples

23:23
If you have hypothyroidism you know how hard it can be to lose weight. I've been helping patients with hypothyroidism lose weight by balancing their hormones and that's exactly what this video is about. I walk you through 5 step-by-step examples of how to do it. If you watched the vide these are the supplements I've referred to: Berberine: http://amzn.to/2aB79Dy DIM: http://amzn.to/2aB7eak Indole 3 carbinol: http://amzn.to/2asBLUW High quality progesterone: http://amzn.to/2aEPsDx These are the same steps I use in my practice: 1. Reverse and treat insulin resistance if present - high levels of insulin make burning fat as a fuel source almost impossible. Up to 50% of patients have insulin resistance on TOP of hypothyroidism and I've found that to be even higher in most patients I treat. 2. Treat leptin resistance and thyroid resistance if present - You need to make sure you check your reverse T3/free T3 ratio (it should be greater than 0.2), if it is lower than you have thyroid resistance and need T3. If your leptin levels are greater than 12 then you need to consider treatment with a GLP-1 agonist. Remember that thyroid resistance and leptin resistance go together! 3. Reverse Estrogen dominance if present (or low progesterone) - Remember to use urine testing for these hormones so that you can find ALL metabolites and figure out which step is blocked in your body. If necessary you may need to consider using bio-identical progesterone cream (link above). 4. Treat low testosterone if present - Low testosterone can cause weight gain, mood changes and low energy. Many women who suffer from insulin resistance ALSO suffer from low testosterone. 5. Adrenal fatigue and elevated cortisol levels - High levels of adrenal hormones (cortisol) can cause weight gain and lead to constant fatigue. Make sure to check your cortisol and cortisone levels in the urine at 4 points throughout the day. I recommend going through ALL of these steps in THIS order so you can finally lose weight with hypothyroidism. Using these steps I've been able to help patients lose weight about 98% of the time. You can read the entire blog post here: http://www.restartmed.com/lose-weight-hypothyroidism/ You can read more on my website here: http://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Hashimoto's Weight Loss: 9 Actionable Tips + Treatment Guide for Patients

33:29
Are you struggling to lose weight with Hashimoto's? In this post I outline the 9 steps that I use to help Hashimoto's patients lose weight in my practice. Hashimoto's patients need to be differentiated from other thyroid patients when it comes to treatment, but also when it comes to weight loss. If you didn't already know exercising more and eating less will NOT lead to lasting weight loss in Hashimoto's patients. I discuss the 4 main reasons for weight loss resistance that patients face that most doctors aren't even looking for: 1. Body set point malfunction - hypothalamic changes that make weight loss almost impossible. 2. Low resting metabolic rate or low resting energy expenditure (AKA slow or damaged metabolism) - Your metabolism controls the majority of your calorie consumption and a damaged metabolism will make weight loss very difficult. 3. Leptin resistance - High levels of leptin tricks your brain into thinking that your body is starving even though you are overweight. 4. Gut imbalances - Specifically SIBO and SIFO can cause inflammatory states which reduce thyroid conversion and lead to changes in microflora of the GI tract which causes weight loss resistance. These 4 topics are VERY important and these tips help treat them: 1. Check and treat your metabolism if damaged 2. Get on the right type and dose of thyroid medication - that generally means T3 in some form (NDT or T3) especially if you have insulin or leptin resistance 3. Find the best hashimoto's diet for YOUR body - that means anything ranging from AIP vs nutritional ketosis vs gluten free, dairy free, soy free 4. Make sure you are exercising (preferably HIIT + low intensity daily) 5. Address gut health - specifically SIBO/SIFO and malabsorption 6. Reduce inflammation in your body 7. Address adrenal related problems 8. Treat leptin and insulin resistance 9. Avoid endocrine disruptors and xenoestrogens (AKA make sure you are detoxing) Listen to the video for tips on how to treat each of these conditions and let me know if you have any questions below! More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: https://www.restartmed.com/lose-weight-hashimotos/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Byetta Weight Loss - 42 pounds over 3 months with NDT + T3 + Byetta with Before/After pictures

28:06
Do you have hypothyroidism and insulin resistance? This case study is from my practice and in this video I walk you through a patient who was able to lose 42 pounds over three months using Byetta, Natural desiccated thyroid and T3 containing medication. The problem with weight loss is that most patients approach it all wrong. They believe that eating less and exercising more will lead to long lasting weight loss and it just isn't true. Instead patients and Doctors should be focusing on hormone imbalances that lead to weight loss resistance. The top three most common hormone imbalances that lead to weight loss resistance include: 1. Thyroid resistance 2. Insulin resistance 3. Leptin resistance Many patients do know that they have hypothyroidism but many miss out that they have both insulin and leptin resistance, and that's why I made this case study. The unfortunate part is that certain medications like the GLP-1 agonists can help reverse insulin and leptin resistance. These medications are primarily used for type II diabetes but a subgroup of obese, non diabetic women (with high leptin levels) respond very well to this medication and can lose a significant amount of weight. In this case study I also show you what it takes in terms of diet, exercise, medications, hormones and supplements to help hypothyroid patients with insulin resistance lose 40 pounds. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: https://www.restartmed.com/thyroid-weight-loss/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Did you know there are 4-Stage of Healing Hashimoto's? Find out what stage you're at here: https://hashimotosdoctor.com/wb4stagesofhealing High TSH levels, Hashimoto's Disease, Hypothyroidism and weight loss challenges are epidemic problems around the world... but why? Most people think hypothyroid symptoms are just related to thyroid hormone levels, or they think they can take, Synthroid®, Levothyroxine® or an NDT (natural desiccated thyroid hormone) replacement like Armour® and everything will be fine. Though thyroid hormone replacement medications are essential and critical pieces of improving hypothyroidism and hypothyroid symptoms, you have to consider why you are having the symptoms you are experiencing. Failure to address the causes of the problems you are having by covering up the symptoms will result in a continued breakdown of your body in other ways. If you are struggling to improve your thyroid health and aren't sure where to turn or what to do because you just don't know why you're having the problems that you're having, then this could be the most important video that you watch. Thyroid Medication Side Effects – Fatigue & Weight Gain

01:04
Dr. Goodbinder from The Epigenetics Healing Center in Overland Park, KS answers the following question in this week's Wellness Video: "My doctor put me on thyroid medication (Synthroid or Levothyroxine). The medication seems to help a little, but I am still having symptoms and struggling with fatigue and weight gain." http://drgoodbinder.com/blog/thyroid-medication-fatigue-weight-gain/ Why do I experience fatigue and weight gain while taking thyroid medication? Dr. G's Answer: You’ve been put on a thyroid medication, and it helped a little bit but you’re still dealing with the fatigue and the weight gain and all sorts of other problems that come with that. I want to be very clear, at The Epigenetics Healing Center, we test – we don’t guess – about anything because we don’t want you to spin your wheels. But what I think when I hear that you're not enjoying the side effects of the medication is that you’ve now hyper-dosed your T4, which is Synthroid or levothyroxine. Your body is taking some of that and doing what it needs to do, but you still have problems down below – filtering it out through your liver, making it activate into your gut. You’re using lots of the Synthroid. So you’re getting some activation, but you’re still going to have a majority of the symptoms. You’re just taking a small tube and trying to pour a huge glass of water down it at one time. You’re going to get a little function, but a whole lot of it isn’t going to be doing much. Armour Thyroid - Best Natural Hypothyroidism Treatment

02:16
How To Cure Hypothyroidism http://www.HypothyroidRevolution.org In alternative medicine, there is very little difference in curing hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. This is because the treatment involves assisting the thyroid to heal, in either case. Those with hyperthyroidism should not use iodine, because it could overdrive the thyroid, worsening the condition. Curing thyroid disease requires a long-term commitment for a period of at least a year. Creating this problem took years of self-poisoning, so fixing it is neither quick, nor easy. Hypothyroidism medications are addictive, and the body becomes reliant on them, which is why the mainstream establishment maintains that people must take them forever. Those who have been taking hypothyroidism medications for years must slowly wean themselves from the drugs. Abruptly stopping these medications will result in extreme fatigue, and additional thyroid problems. Treatment Recommendations Eliminate and discard all non-stick cookware Eliminate Soy - Soy suppresses thyroid function, imbalances hormones, and it has been shown to cause goiters (an enlargement of the thyroid gland) in previously healthy individuals, which shows that it disrupts iodine usage. Adhere to an Alkaline Diet - This is extremely helpful when curing any chronic disease. Reference the Body pH and Disease article to guide you. Balance Estrogen Levels (Women) - Excess estrogen slows down the thyroid gland. This means eliminating birth control medications, increasing the fiber in the diet, and avoiding all non-organic meats. Growth hormones in meats lead to imbalanced hormones. Reduce dairy intake, because milk often contains lots of estrogen; primarily because cows are milked frequently during pregnancy. Exercise - Find a physical activity that is fun, and do it often. We believe that exercise could half the cure time in some cases, and curing is not possible without it. Hemp Fiber - This is a broad spectrum supplement and a mild laxative. L-Tyrosine - Tyrosine is a natural amino acid which helps the body produce its own thyroid hormone. This is also known to help with the depression, which usually accompanies hypothyroidism. Most naturopaths recommend that 500 mg. be taken 2-3 times daily. L-Arginine - Arginine is known to stimulate the thyroid and its hormones. It also improves immune function, improves fertility, and alleviates erectile dysfunction. Iodine - The thyroid needs iodine to function properly, and lots of people now suffer from iodine deficiencies. To test yourself, place some iodine (we use 2%) on your stomach. Make a dot the size of a silver dollar (or twice the size of a British 50p). If it disappears within 12 hours, then you are iodine deficient. Keep adding iodine in increasing amounts, until it no longer disappears in a 12-hour period. This works due to the fact that the body absorbs iodine at the rate at which it is needed. Do not use povidone iodine and do not orally consume iodine. This is especially an important precaution for those with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Avoid all sources of fluoride - As already mentioned, fluoride suppresses the thyroid, and is likely to be the leading cause of hypothyroidism. Drink spring water, avoid soft drinks, use fluoride-free toothpaste, use a shower filter, and throw away non-stick cookware. Both coffee and tea naturally contain fluoride, so use iodine to compensate if these drinks are indispensable. Eat a natural diet - To help the body to heal itself, remove burdens on its immune system. This means that all processed foods, artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, white flour, white sugar, table salt, hydrogenated oils, aluminum, high fructose corn syrup, and etcetera should be eliminated from the diet. Organic food is the ideal. Do not trust marketing that reads "All Natural", because this phrase is unregulated, so anyone can use it for anything. Read labels carefully. Chlorophyll - Supplementing with chlorophyll provides essential copper, helps oxygenate the body, builds healthy red blood cells, and it overall assists with skin health. Chlorophyll is a safe method of orally supplementing with copper. Those who are using our Colloidal Copper Lotion are unlikely to need more copper. Zinc and Selenium: Studies indicate that severe zinc or selenium deficiencies can cause decreased thyroid hormone levels. Never take zinc on an empty stomach. Brazil nuts are high in both zinc and selenium. Coconut Oil: Buy organic, cold-pressed, coconut oil from a health food store. Take around 1 teaspoon of it daily. You can also use it to cook with, but be warned that it smokes at low cooking temperatures, so it should only be used for low-heat cooking. Coconut oil speeds the metabolism, encourages production of the thyroid hormone, and kills candida yeast.

The Top 5 Myths About Natural Desiccated Thyroid

12:09
Have you been hearing this, that and the other thing about natural desiccated thyroid (NDT)? Well, today I want to talk to you about some of the biggest myths surrounding this form of treatment. Have you heard that you cannot take it if you have Hashimoto’s? Well, this article is for you! Please enjoy this article while I discuss these controversies, and much more, today. Let’s Talk About NDT First, we should take a moment and define what NDT is all about. I want to really break it down, so let’s go word-by-word so that you can have a clear and total understanding of what NDT is built upon and how it is created: Natural – means that it is from a natural source. In prescription medications, that will typically come from pig thyroid (also known as porcine thyroid). Desiccated – this means something that had its moisture removed, like desiccated coconut. Thyroid – it’s thyroid hormone! One of the things I want to start off with is that sometimes people think of NDT as Armour. While Armour is the brand name, NDT is the compound. It’s kind of like how Kleenex makes facial tissues, but there are plenty of facial tissue companies out there – Kleenex is not the only one making it, and when it comes to NDT Armour is not the only option. Personally, I prefer WP Thyroid as NDT for treatment. Now that we have a solid understanding of what goes into NDT, let’s break down the myths: #1: NDT is not okay for those with Hashimoto’s disease The argument goes something like this: somehow, ingesting thyroid will raise your thyroid antibodies against your “original” thyroid. That would obviously not be ideal for those who are dealing with Hashimoto’s. In fact, I have actually heard doctors tell people that they cannot take NDT at all and that it can even worsen your immune state. I do not want to jump to conclusions about what is true and what is a myth without unpacking the myth itself because then we can approach it logically. Let’s think about it: people who take thyroid do so because they have hypothyroidism (where their gland simply is not making enough hormone for their body). Those who have hypothyroidism, almost universally, have Hashimoto’s disease. Read More Here!: http://drchristianson.com/the-top-5-myths-about-natural-desiccated-thyroid/

Reverse T3 Treatment Guide + How to “Flush” it out of Your Body

25:12
High reverse T3 levels result in a slow metabolism, weight gain, low body temperature and symptoms of hypothyroidism. Reverse T3 is created from T4 in your body in the presence of inflammation, leptin resistance, insulin resistance and a history of chronic yo-yo dieting. Taking T4 only medication can actually make high levels of reverse T3 even worse. This guide discusses how patients get high levels of reverse T3, what causes reverse T3 to be elevated and how to flush high levels of reverse T3 out of your body. We will also discuss the normal ranges of reverse T3 in your body and how to evaluate them in the presence of low T3 levels. There are ways to treat thyroid resistance but in some cases it requires the use of T3 containing medications. More information in the video and the full blog post can be found here: https://www.restartmed.com/reverse-t3/ You can read more on my website here: https://www.restartmed.com/ This video is not intended to be used as medical advice. Signs and Symptoms of Thyroid Problems, the Root of Your Weight Gain?

05:32
https://www.drlam.com/blog/signs-and-symptoms-of-thyroid-problems-the-root-of-your-weight-gain/22272/ This is Dr. Lam of drlam.com and the Adrenal Fatigue Center. Today we’re going to talk about the functional differences between T4 and T3 thyroid hormone. A lot of people are being put on thyroid hormone nowadays when they complain to the doctor of having fatigue and no other reasons could be found. The purpose of T4 in the body is to convert into T3, although T4 does have its own function. T4 is actually not the body’s main hormone although it is the most prominent and most high in terms of volume. The workhorse of the body’s thyroid hormones is actually T3, which is the biochemical daughter of T4. They both have their own individual purposes, although T4 in general is weaker, much weaker than T3. The body makes it in different proportion in order to have the proper use at the right time in the right place. So there is functional differences although they both increase metabolism. And both thyroid hormones have that function as the primary reasons for their existence. Now when you are given T4, and another trade name is Synthroid, the body converts the T4 automatically into T3, which is also called Cytomel if you’re taking it in the form of a medication. Some drugs, such as Armour Thyroid or Nature-Throid comes in a premixed percentage that has the T4 and T3 in the similar proportion as what is found in the body. So this attempts to mimic the body’s composition in terms of the circulating T4 and T3. Most people are started on T4 to begin with, or Synthroid is commonly used in the U.S. And if things don’t work as well then the doctor can add or switch to T3. There’s a good reason to do that. And it’s because, remember we said the T4 is really a precursor to T3 and is not as strong. Therefore, you allow the body’s feedback loops to be intact. If T4 is not working well, or if the body needs more or strong thyroid hormones such as T3, then they can be added. In some times the body can have resistance problems and develop many, many issues that stop the conversion from T4 to T3, and this is another situation where T3 may be used. Thyroid medication is a very complex subject. In the case of adrenal fatigue where it can lead to hypothyroid-type symptoms when the thyroid laboratory could be normal, this can further convolute the picture and can be quite confusing. Understanding the role that T4 and T3 makes in the body is very important. There’s so many signs and symptoms of thyroid problems including dry skin, losing eyebrows outer third, fatigue, reduced exercise capacity, weight gain. These are very common presenting complaints to any physician’s office. And it is very easy and it’s a commonly accepted practice for all the physicians to give a T4 and T3. Whether or not you should take it depends on the clinical situation. So you really need to discuss this matter closely with your doctor. If your fatigue is due to other reasons other than a primary thyroid problem, such as if you have anemia, or you have under severe stress, or you have adrenal weakness, then you don’t want to mask these problems. You want to basically deal with these issues at the root cause and then you can avoid taking thyroid medication. If you take thyroid medication for not the right reasons you can mask the underlying problem and that could have a long-term and negative effects. So understanding the thyroid functions, T4, T3, is important. And you should really talk to your doctor if you are already on, especially if your dosage had to be increased over time or if you’re not getting the benefit from the thyroid. Which all of which can means there’s some other issues going on that may need to be further investigated.
