Pregabalin (Lyrica): What You Need To Know

19:28
Pregabalin (Lyrica) is a medication in the gabapentinoid class. It has anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, and analgesic properties. As such, it's used for epilepsy, neuropathic pain, anxiety, and other conditions. Despite being a GABA derivative, it doesn't appear to be operating through a GABA-related mechanism. The substance is also used recreationally due to its euphoric, anxiolytic, and pro-social effects. How I live with anxiety and depression

03:27
My name is Matt and 15 years ago I had my first diagnosis of major depression. Although now I realize that I have lived with it my whole life, but it wasn’t until it really started to affect my life and the lives of those around me that I knew I needed help. I have been in and out of doctors offices, I have done therapies and have spent months in hospital. I have lost jobs and been unable to get out of bed and at times been inconsolable. I have been on many medications including, Zoloft, sertraline, lexapro, escitalopram, endep, amitriptyline, efexor XR, Venlafaxine, mirtazapine, sodium valproate, seroquel, quetiapine and diazepam. (SSRIs). I know that medication is needed at times, but there is also a wealth of other things to learn and put into place in your everyday life. Now, I have a lot of skills to deal with depression in my daily life but I still have times when I all seems too hard. Also anxiety creeps and without realizing I find myself being a victim of it over and over. Depression, when combined with anxiety becomes more complex but the skills for dealing with depression are just as useful for dealing with anxiety. I want to share what I know, because I would have greatly benefitted from a collective of knowledge 15 years ago. So I am documenting all the thing I do every day to keep happy and motivated because I believe we can all grow through shared experience. Now with youtube and the internet we are all in a better place. Find out more on my channel or visit https://www.mattblack.me

Migraine? Chronic Sinusitis, Dizziness, Ear/Eye Pain/Pressure, Abnormal Hearing/Smell/Taste/Touch

04:48
Not yet well publicized in the general or medical communities, many chronic symptoms such as sinusitis, dizziness (or vertigo), ear pain, jaw pain, nasal blockage/stuffiness, facial pain/pressure, eye pain/pressure, tinnitus, abnormal or bad taste or smell, runny nose and many others may be migraine-related and therefore may be alleviated with the same treatment options as migraine headaches. Unfortunately, many patients and doctors alike are unaware of this connection. Because a relation to migraine disease is not usually suspected, these symptoms are often not treated properly. Many people receive antibiotics, allergy and other medications and occasionally surgery. These medicines may seem to be effective temporarily because the symptoms naturally disappear (as traditional migraines do) but then return again. Migraine disease is a condition that most commonly affects women. It may be affected by changes in estrogen levels. A new organization, the Association of Migraine Disorders has been created to get the word out and to help fund research in this important migraine-related area of neuroscience. Please visit our website to learn about the symptoms, causes and treatments of migraine disorders. There is a lot of helpful information on our site, and with it we hope to end the suffering of many patients who have been unaware of the possible connection of their symptoms to migraine disease. Migraines - More than a headache... ***The mission of the Associaiton of Migraine Disorders is to raise the medical and general public's awareness of this condition and to stimulate increased research in this area of neuroscience.*** MORE INORMATION: Migraine Disorders are a spectrum of neurologic conditions which may have a common genetic and physiologic cause. Although most people associate a "migraine" with a headache, the same underlying faulty nerves that cause this head pain can also affect those nerves that line our sinuses, teeth and ears. This hypersensitivity of the nervous system can interrupt the normal way that we see the world, maintain our balance, hear, smell and taste. This problem may be affecting other parts of the brain that control our body temperature and our mood, our ability to sleep, to think and to remember. It may be the same neuropathy that causes fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, cyclic vomiting. Think of this problem as a malfunctioning electrical relay switch. The information from sensory nerves is being distorted, or overly amplified, on its way to the brain. That neural error may be an inherited defect which comes and goes throughout life depending on changing factors, such as hormonal shifts. List of potential symptoms: migraine, atypical migraine, neuropathiy, dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, ataxia, abnormal smell, phantom smell, phantosmia, bad taste, abnormal taste, dysgeusia, sinusitis, sinus infections, sinus pain, nasal blockage, nasal stuffiness, nasal congestion, runny nose, rhinorrhea, facial pain, cheek pain, eye pressure, eye pain, facial pressure, difficulty driving, spinning, mal de debarquement, aphasia, allodynia, light sensitivity, auditory processing disorder, depression, sensitivity to touch and more...These are just some of the ones in the head and neck... My Experiences With Medication for my Bipolar Disorder

09:27
I share my experiences throughout my process of finding the right medication for me. I'll talk about my initial personal stigma against medication, and how the view has changed over time. From the intense side effects of Abilify, rash scares from Lamictal, to weight gain from Depakote. I want to remind everyone that their experiences with these same medications could be completely different. I hope my story inspires people to have more open conversations with their psychiatrists on what actually works. I have heard countless times of people with mental heath issues never speaking up that their treatment isn't work. My medication for bipolar disorder is just part of my daily routine now. I don't really think much of it anymore. I don't like taking meds, but hey, I'm not that crazy about shoving contacts in my eyes every morning either. But I am willing to do these daily chores because they allow me to live a more productive and happy life. Please visit www.blissify.org for more video and written content about mental health. Our philosophy is "Healthy Body, Healthy Mind." The body works as one synchronized unit. We hope to inspire people to make healthy choices to benefit both their body and mind.

How to Lose Weight While Taking Antidepressants? - by Dr Sam Robbins

08:51
Losing weight is difficult as it is but it is even bigger challenge when you are taking antidepressants. Discover why Dr. Sam Robbins, health expert, recommends Lean Optimizer™, as one of the solutions for weight loss while taking Antidepressants. http://drsam.co/yt/WhileTakingAntidepressants-LO ************************** How to Lose Weight While Taking Antidepressants? ********************** Losing weight is never fun and for most of us, it is not easy especially as we get older. Losing weight is difficult as it is but it is even bigger challenge when you are taking antidepressants. Moreover, the reason is due to your change in hormones. Over the years, I have discovered TWO main reasons for the weight gain from use of antidepressants: The first is the most commonly prescribe antidepressants, SSRIs - such as Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil, Zoloft - they work by increasing serotonin, which helps regulate your appetite. So typically, antidepressant users start eating more because their appetite has increased which is the initial and primary cause of weight gain. Secondly, there is another phenomenon that I have noticed over the years: With people who swear they are not eating more and yet, they still gain weight. After doing lots of different blood work I have noticed a change in metabolic markers: One of them being lowered thyroid production as well as a change adrenal function such as higher cortisol levels (stress hormone) and lower adrenal production. Both are leading to slower metabolism and faster weight gain. As you can see, hormones really do control everything, throw in aging and now things get a bit more challenging. In this video, I am going to give you proven solutions that will help reduce your appetite and maximize your fat loss. So, do not worry – it is not your fault. There is hope! Breaking News - Study shows the link between migraines and depression

05:13
How frequently someone gets migraines is linked to how intense their bouts of anxiety and depression are, according to a new study. The study also found that those that did not sleep well were also more likely to get more frequent headaches.Other current research suggests that migraines may be made more severe by depression and anxiety, and vice versa.According to the authors, these findings suggest that if either migraines are treated ‘preventatively,’ people may be less likely to experience anxiety and depression as severely and frequently. In spite of the fact that about 12 percent of American adults experience migraines, according to the Migraine Research Foundation, the exact causes behind the acute headaches are not well understood.Migraines create the sensation of intense throbbing, and often are also marked by nausea, dizziness and sensitivity to light and sound that can last up to 72 hours. Some people experience stiffness leading up to a migraine. There are essentially two types of migraines: those with auras, and those without. Auras are a set of nervous system symptoms. A migraine with an aura may cause someone to see flashes of light or halos, hear ringing or music, and even become weak and sensitive to touch.Evidence suggests that the headaches are at least partially genetic, but can be triggered by a number of factors, such as stress, hormonal changes (for women), rigorous physical activity, and certain food or sensory stimuli.Scientists think that the interaction between the brain stem and a major nerve path may lead to migraines. We also know that serotonin levels drop during migraines, which may indicate that the hormone is involved in the headache’s onset.Serotonin imbalances are also believed to cause mood disorders like anxiety and depression.According to the new study from National Defense Medical Center, in Taipei, Taiwan previous research has demonstrated the links between anxiety and depression and migraines. Some scientists suspect the connection may be genetic.Migraines are also about three times more common among women than men.But this study found that, regardless of gender, among other complicating factors, the more frequently the 588 participants had migraines, the worse their anxiety and depression symptoms are.Just in the way that migraines and depression or anxiety are thought to influence one another, sleep quality and quantity was shown to predict how often the participants got migraines. Equally, migraine frequency was predictive of how often people had trouble sleeping. The study does not explain why exactly these things are all so closely inter-related, but it does establish these clear connections between migraine frequency, severity of anxiety and depression, and poor sleep.'Taken together, these findings suggest that preventive pharmacological treatments may reduce the risk of depression and anxiety problems in [people with migraines],' the authors concluded. Gabapentin: Neurontin

18:58
Lyrica and its relative Neurontin or gabapentin are widely overprescribed for pain related disorders. Although approved for treating pain after shingles, evidence for their benefit remains quite sketchy. Gabapentin now ranks as one of the top drugs of abuse with at least 50% or people abusing opioids like hydrocodone and oxycodone simultaneously taking these “johnnies” or “gabbies.” In fatal drug overdoses, gabapentin often appears as a contributing factor.

Patient w/ Severe Tremors, Complex Pain Syndrome, & Migraines, Treated with Dental & SOT

07:42
Patient with Severe Tremors, Complex Pain Syndrome, & Migraines, co-treated with Dental and SOT Chiropractic Care: A case report. Methods Intervention/Treatment Initially the patient was co-treated with a dental night and day time appliance, trochanter belt, and treated for category two or sacroiliac joint hypermobility syndrome. During the course of treatment over the initial months she was treated with category two protocols, sutural cranial temporomandibular joint (TMJ) interventions, T8 chiropractic manipulative reflex technique (CMRT) for the liver along with supportive nutritional supplements and dietary restrictions to support liver function and reduce general body inflammation. The SOT cranial procedures were incorporated to facilitate her category two stabilization and enable her to accommodate to the dental modifications. A 42 year old female presented with an unsteady Parkinsonian type of gait (shaking, rigidity and pain) diagnosed as psychogenically driven based on various university healthcare clinics. She also had tremors that would occur when she would stand from a seated position starting from her right leg and radiating superiorward affecting her whole body. She also diagnosed with an atypical version of a complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) called complex pain syndrome (CPS) due to its whole body generalization as well as a history of migraines. CRPS is a severe chronic pain condition characterized by sensory, autonomic, motor, and dystrophic signs and symptoms. Patients with CRPS are commonly refractory showing only modest improvement with most current therapies [1]. In one study CRPS (n=888) syndrome affected mostly white women in the 25- to 55-year-old age group. It was often precipitated by trauma (surgical or nonsurgical) and commonly involved the lower ( approximately 56%) and upper ( approximately 38%) extremities [2]. Evaluating referral patterns for CRPS (n=102) 61% had presented first at the general practitioner, while 80% subsequently consulted one or more medical specialists, most frequently an anesthetist (55% of the cases) or a specialist in rehabilitation medicine (41%) [3]. The patients CPS was fibromyalgic in nature with pain that was severe, migratory and occurred in multiple major joints, all her muscle groups experienced pain, spasms, and involuntary contractions. She had nighttime leg spasms that would awaken her from sleep. The pain and muscle tension led to multiple ranges of motion limitations generalizing to all joints of her body. The patients condition had been occurring for 9 years and was gradually worsening. The patient had seen neurologists, internal medicine, rheumatologists, and visited multiple university hospital clinics. At the initial office visit she was prescribed medications for her tremors, migratory pain, and migraines that included Aciphex, Topamax, Atenolol, Tramadol, Gabapentine, Cymbalta, Minoxidil, Fluocinonide, Zanaflex, and Neurontin. A sleep study at Stanford University Health Clinic found that the patient did not exhibit sleep apnea however she still had no REM sleep even though she was taking sleeping medication and would sleep. This finding helped explain why she found her sleep not restful. Due to the severity of the patients symptoms and their whole body disturbance on her multiple levels chiropractic and dental care was attempted since all other interventions were unhelpful. Results: At the first office visit with the dental appliance, trochanter belt and category treatment all her shaking would stop when standing. Concurrently as the shaking would cease her pain would also be reduced and her range of motion also increased gradually but notably over the months of care. Treatment began in February 2009 and she was treated only one time per week and though she attempted to come for treatment more frequently the travel time to the office (2.5 hours one way) was too stressful, physically and emotionally. While she was initially treated one time a week from February 2009 through July 2009 following July 2009 she reduced care to two treatments per month. For more information... www.drgerardo.com

I Noah Thomas, the creator of this channel, have been diagnosed hypogonadism by a medical doctor and legally prescribed the medically indicated treatment of Testosterone Replacement Therapy. My Story My name is Noah and on May 18 2011, I had a rare reaction to a medication called VIVITROL and consequently, spiraled into a suicidal depression with depersonalization and anxiety. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who, along with many siblings and friends, had to watch me 24/7 as I was a danger to myself. Eventually I was hospitalized in the Psych Ward for a week. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different doctor prescribed SSRI's SNRI's Tricyclics, mood stabilizers, anti-psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I had an explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started legally prescribed testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last 6 years, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Treating my low testosterone has been 1 HUGE part of the puzzle but I have had to continue to work hard to hold on to my mental stability with many set backs. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and Pamelor. I work out all the time as a part of my mental health recovery!!! Weight training and all kinds of cardio rule much of my free time and I also share this on my channel.
