The Dangers of Thiazide Diuretics in Treating Hypertension

04:53
According to a collaborative study between the University of Texas Medical Center and UCSF Medical Center that was published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society in June of 2014, people over the age of 65 who are treated with thiazide diuretics (such as HCTZ -- which is hydrochlorthiazide -- or Hygroton), are in danger of developing several metabolic defects. This study pointed out three metabolic defects that include hyponatremia (low sodium), hypokalemia (low potassium), and acute kidney injury where there was at least a 25% decrease in kidney function. Wow! And there's more that was not included in this article such as causing high cholesterol and uric acid (predisposes to gout), insulin resistance (predisposes to type 2 diabetes), and low magnesium! And this is the first drug of choice according to the major medical associations that set the guidelines for treating high blood pressure! Wow! It makes you wonder about the rest of the drugs used in managing this disease. Lifestyle remains the best treatment for managing hypertension. For more information, please visit www.doctorsaputo.com

How I Lowered My Dad’s Blood Pressure In Just A Few days - NO Drugs or Diets: 👉👉 http://drsam.co/yt/Lower-Your-BP Or watch How To Lower Your Blood Pressure, Naturally: 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25zDNw3ZQU8 #hypertension #highbloodpressure Refferences: https://accscientificsession.acc.org/ ==================================== 🌡WARNING: Two Blood Pressure Drugs Increase Your Risk Of Death! 👈 ==================================== High blood pressure (hypertension) is a major risk factor for heart disease, which can lead to a heart attack or stroke. In fact, hypertension is called the “silent killer” because it doesn’t have any real symptoms. Additionally, most adults over the age of 35 have prehypertension and don’t even know it. Especially with today’s extra stressful life-styles. And a major cause of it is actually aging and the negative changes in your hormones as you age. But, I’ll get to that in a minute. Today’s topic is about two very popular blood pressure drugs, that actually increase your risk of death and thus, should be avoided! In a recent 2018 study1, scientist found that people using alpha blockers and/or alpha-2 agonists to control their blood pressure, show increased variability in blood pressure measurements between doctor visits, which is associated with an increased risk of death. And this study was based on more than 10,500 patients between, 2007-2012, during a 5 year timespan. Basically this means that these drugs are not consistent in keep your blood pressure stable. Due to the increase in variability and thus, fluctuations throughout the day, dramatically increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke and ultimately, death. These drugs aren’t doing what they are designed to do. The fluctuations throughout the day, actually put more stress on your body, which causes other negative hormonal changes. The researchers stated that other hypertension class of drugs such as Ace Inhibitors, Calcium Channel Blockers and Thiazide diuretics are safer. However, these drugs have numerous side-effects as well, including Mental and physical fatigue Muscle weakness Erectile Problems Weight gain Anxiety, nervousness and depression What’s interesting to note is that there are half a dozen different TYPES of hypertension drugs, with almost 70 drugs in total, all designed to lower blood pressure. And an overwhelming 88% of the time - dosages need to be increased and/or multiple hypertension drugs are used in combination to help lower blood pressure. This is all just horrible news, especially considering the fact that blood pressure rises steadily with age due to a variety of factors, one of the primary ones being the negative changes in your hormones due to aging. I mention all of this because I have high blood pressure on both sides of the family, especially my dad’s. So for sure, I got him off the medications years ago because we only saw the negative side-effects and knew that it was only going to get worse as he got older. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ)

15:39
The diuretic variously referred to as HCT, HCTZ or more properly hydrochlorothiazide remains one of the most popular treatments for high blood pressure. This so-called water pill helps eliminate excess sodium and fluid from the body. In the process, the blood pressure falls. The price is cheap and the side effects few. This drug has rightly remained popular for many decades.

Thiazides Mechanism Of Action *ANIMATED*

03:31
THIAZIDES ARE THE MOST WIDELY USED CLASS OF DIURETICS. THIAZIDES ARE CALLED THAT BECAUSE THEY CONTAIN SULFURE AND ARE SULFONAMIDE DERVIATIVES, THEY ARE KNOWN TO BE MODERATELY POTENT DIURETICS. THIAZIDES ARE MAINLY USED IN HYPERTENSION TREATMENT, THEY'RE EITHER USED ALONE OR IN COMBINATION WITH ACE INHIBITORS. THEY'RE USED IN HYPERCALCIURIA AS THEY REDUCE CALCIUM IONS EXCRETION BENEFITING PATIENTS WITH CALCIUM OXALATE STONES IN THE URINARY TRACT. HOW DO THEY WORK? THIAZIDES REDUCE WATER REABSORPTION IN THE NEPHRON BY INHIBITING THE SODIUM CHLORIDE SYMPORTER IN THE DISTAL CONVOLUTED TUBULE, NORMALLY SODIUM AND CHLORIDE ENTER THE DISTAL CONVOLUTED TUBULE CELL THROUGH THE SYMPORTER THEN THEY GET REABSORBED BACK INTO THE BLOOD STREAM THROUGH SODIUM POTASSIUM ATPASE CHANNEL AND CHLRIDE CHANNEL, THIAZIDES BLOCK THIS SYMPORTER CAUSEING THE SODIUM AND SUBSEQUENTLY WATER TO GET FILTERED INTO THE URINE. ALTHOUGH THE DIURETIC EFFECT OF THIAZIDES IS WEAK, THIAZIDES CAUSE VASODIALATION THAT HELPS REDUSING BLOOD PRESSURE AS WELL, UNFORTUNATLY THE MECHANISM OF THE VASODIALATION IS YET TO BE UNDERSTOOD. CHLOROTHIAZIDE IS THE FIRST ORALLY AVAILABLE THIAZIDE DIURETICS, HOWEVER RECENTLY, NEW THIAZIDE LIKE DIURETICS HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED LIKE CHLORTHALIDONE WHICH IS A NONTHIAZIDE THAT BEHAVES PHARMACOLOGICALLY LIKE HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE WIHT AN ADVANTAGE OF LONG DURATION OF ACTION, METOLAZONE IS ANOTHER THIAZIDE LIKE DRUG THAT IS MORE POTENT AND UNLIKE THIZAIDES CAUSES SODIUM EXCRETION IN ADVANCED RENAL FAILURE. THE MOST SIDE EFFECTS OF THIAZIDES ARE CAUSED BY ELECTROLYTE DEPLETION RESULTING FROM PROLONGED USE, LIKE HYPOKALEMIA, HYPOCLOREMIA, HYPONATERMIA AND DEHYDRATION. SINCE THIAZIDE IS NOT METABILISED AND EXCRETED UNCHANGED IN THE URINE, THEY CANNOT BE GIVEN IN PATIENTS WITH RENAL DISEASE. THIAZIDES ARE CONTRAINDICATED WITH DIGOXIN, AS A RESULT OF HYPOKALEMIA THE DRUG INTERATION CAN RESULT IN CARDIAC ARRYTHMIA, FURTHUREMORE, THIAZIDES ARE CONTRAINDICATED WITH DRUGS THAT CAUSE FLUID RETENTION SUCH AS CORTICOSTEROIDS AND NSAIDS.

Why Diabetics Get High Blood Pressure

It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about why diabetics tend to get higher blood pressure. This is because they have higher amounts of insulin. So insulin is not working in the cell, and the body makes more (5-7 more). Insulin causes the retention of sodium. This then causes the retention of fluid, which then raises the blood pressure. Most people then cut out the salt but they do not fix the high insulin. This creates a sodium deficiency. Sodium is needed to prevent muscle and nerve weakness. Side effects include muscle weakness, fatigue and even cramping. To top it off - people take a diuretic, which has a side-effect of causing potassium loss, which worsens the sodium-potassium ratio. Also it has a side-effect of causing insulin resistance, which worsens things. KETO: https://www.drberg.com/how-to-do-ketosis INTERMITTENT FASTING: https://www.drberg.com/how-to-do-inte... This is How To Reduce High Blood Pressure in 5 Minutes Without The Use of Drugs

This is How To Reduce High Blood Pressure in 5 Minutes Without The Use of Drugs Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11 Unfortunately, high blood pressure is a common disease nowadays, and it is related to obesity, lack of sleep, stress, alcohol intake, salty food, and smoking. Due to strenuous physical exercise or stress, the muscles strain, and the blood vessels constrict, leading to a rise in the blood pressure. Therefore, in order to normalize it, we should clearly relax the muscles. Lu Hens is the doctor of the Moscow football club “Spartak”, and he revealed a secret natural remedy, which is a part of the Chinese medicine, and effectively reduces high blood pressure in 5 minutes. He believes that the most important thing is proper blood flow. According to the Chinese medicine, the blood flow to the tissues and muscles is of utmost importance. In the case of a blood stagnation in some body part, it will become the starting point of some disease, and vice versa, if the blood flow is adequate, the body will quickly solve the issue. Therefore, massaging certain points on the body bring relief and healing of health issues. This is how to use this in order to reduce high blood pressure: Point No. 1. This is actually a line, which goes behind the earlobe and extends to the middle of the clavicle. You do not need to massage it, but you should slowly pamper it with the tips of the fingers from top to bottom. You should repeat 10 times on both sides. Point No. 2. The location of this point is close to the earlobe, half a centimeter for the ear, towards the nose. Massage it with the fingertips for a minute, on both sides of the face. You should press enough, but it should not be painful. This treatment is incredibly effective and normalizes the blood pressure in 5 minutes. ================================= how to lower blood pressure fast without medications, how to lower blood pressure quickly and naturally, how to lower your blood pressure, lower blood pressure naturally, how to lower blood pressure immediately, how to lower blood pressure instantly, how to lower blood pressure, how to lower blood pressure fast, how to lower blood pressure naturally, how to lower high blood pressure, how to lower high blood pressure fast, blood pressure, high blood pressure, health news Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11

♥ WARNING: Painkillers Cause High Blood Pressure, Especially In Women

03:47
My Favorite Formula For Lowering Blood Pressure Naturally: ►►http://drsam.co/yt/LowerYourPressure ======================================= ♥ WARNING: Painkillers Cause High Blood Pressure, Especially In Women ======================================= Most of us, when something hurts, we simply pop a couple pain killers and don’t give it a second thought. A headache, joint pain, muscle pain from working out, menstrual pain and so forth. However, recent research has found a direct connection between high blood pressure levels and the use non-aspirin painkillers - such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Advil and Motrin). Additionally, the report reveals a much higher risk for women, than men! A Harvard study involved 5,123 women age 34 to 77, all having healthy blood pressure levels to start. However, here’s what the study revealed: For women not taking painkillers, the risk of developing high blood pressure levels was only about 1-3 percent a year. Women taking 400 mg a day of over-the-counter painkillers (the equivalent of two ibuprofen) had a 60-78 percent increased risk of developing high blood pressure levels. Women taking an average daily dose of 500 mg of acetaminophen (one extra-strength tablet) had a 93-99 percent increased risk of developing high blood pressure levels within three years. That’s DOUBLE! The cause of this is because of the fluid retention and decreased kidney function due to these drugs. Why Is It Worse For Women? This is because women have smaller blood vessels in the heart, making them more vulnerable to high blood pressure and inflammation of the blood vessels. Now, aging causes higher blood pressure for BOTH men and women. However, as women get closer to menopause, there is a dramatic drop in estrogen, which causes a woman’s arteries to become less elastic and more constrictive, thus contributing to high blood pressure. Unfortunately, giving women synthetic hormones (estrogen and especially progesterone) makes this situation only worse. Options You should only take these drugs occasionally, as needed and definitely not daily or more than 3x weekly. By the way, aspirin does not cause high blood pressure, but it has its own set of negative side-effects, such as stomach pain, ulcers, excessive bleeding, becoming acidic, etc. Most pain is related to inflammation. So drinking more water, taking higher dosages of Vitamin C, Magnesium and Curcummin will help. Lastly, make SURE you control your blood pressure using natural solutions, especially if you’re over the age of 40 - both men and women. It’s one of the primary causes of heart and brain aging. Elevated Blood Pressure Risks - Should I Take Blood Pressure Medication?

04:23
http://www.naturalfoodsdiet.org/elevated-blood-pressure-risks-should-i-take-blood-pressure-medication/ Elevated Blood Pressure Risks - Should I Take Blood Pressure Medication? What are the risks of elevated blood pressure and should you consider taking blood pressure medication? In this video, Dr. Gerhauser discusses the risks versus benefits of using blood pressure medication. So when we visit the doctor and he or she always checks that blood pressure and insists on treating it, many times giving you a sample that a drug rep left them when they brought the doctor and the clinic staff lunch. So we have strong evidence it may not even help and no verification that it is worth the risk of side effects and the costs, especially the high costs of a new drug that is still under patent protection. I know the drug companies have supplied our clinic with all kinds of samples of the new blood pressure medications and they try to convince us we should get all of our patients on these expensive medications even though there is no proof that they're effective. Oh yes, they're FDA approved to, in the short-term, lower your blood pressure and proven to cause side effects. But the ultimate reason that we take them, to prevent death and disease are unproven. Drugs (medication) that Raise Blood Sugar Levels

13:44
List of drugs that raise blood sugar. This information can come in handy in case you have high blood sugar and you are not sure what is causing it. Download Diabetes Diet eBook: https://goo.gl/UC5SZU We all get sick from time to time. We all have been given prescriptions other than our metformin or insulin. But did you know some medications can raise your blood sugar? I am confident that somewhere in that plethora of literature that accompanies most prescriptions is information that says that the drug will affect blood sugar. But how many of us actually read all that literature? Today I want to talk about common drugs that can raise your blood sugar. This list was compiled after researching the work of Mark T. Marino, MD. The list: Corticosteroids Thiazide diuretics Beta-blockers Niacin Antipsychotic drugs Striking a balance There is a longer list of drugs associated with diabetes, but the evidence for each of these is not very strong, or the medicine is only used rarely. For the more commonly used drugs that are known to worsen diabetes control, it is important to note that there remains a balance between intended benefits and unwanted side effects. Glucocorticoids can stop an inflammatory process like asthma, thiazide diuretics have been shown to be very successful at reducing high blood pressure and its complications, beta-blockers do protect against heart attacks, niacin does reduce coronary artery disease, and antipsychotic medicines can make the difference between hallucinating and perceiving reality. If you suspect that your blood glucose control may be adversely affected by a medicine you’re taking, speak with your health-care provider before making any changes. There may be an overall benefit to remaining on a drug that slightly increases blood glucose in some cases, or there may be alternatives that can be substituted. Unfortunately, no medicine is without its drawbacks, but by knowing what these drawbacks are, you can participate in an informed discussion with your health-care provider about the specific risks and benefits of a drug in your unique situation.

✔ Are High Blood Pressure Medications Healthy For You?

03:11
Are High Blood Pressure Medications Healthy For You? Besides lowering blood pressure, all antihypertensive drugs can produce undesirable side effects. This is not surprising since they alter basic body functions not only in the blood vessels. But in the nervous system and kidneys as well. Since they alter basic functions, all drugs must have several effects. Even if a drug acts on only one type of molecule in the body. Because all systems in the body are interconnected it certainly will produce other effects. Some examples. By limiting the ability of the heart to beat faster. Beta blockers reduce the ability of a person to exercise. And thiazide diuretics produce changes in the composition of body fluids. Including blood cholesterol. So by altering basic bodily functions. Drugs affect the ability of the body to adapt to different situations. Typical side effects of some of the more commonly used antihypertensive drugs include. Urinary loss of potassium, fatigue, gastric irritation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, rash, weakness, nasal congestion, impotence, congestive heart failure, mental depression, short-term memory loss, and in the case of beta blockers, reduction of ability to exercise. In fact, the reduction in blood pressure is associated not with improvement in the function of the cardiovascular system. But rather with a suppression of cardiac function. Sometimes other drugs are added to treat these side effects. In addition, antihypertensive drugs may adversely affect other diseases. How common are complications due to these drugs? Well, in a government-sponsored study of over five thousand patients being treated. With drugs for high blood pressure. It turned out that the drug-treated group had fewer strokes. But a worse outcome in coronary disease. In fact, after ten years of treatment. Death due to coronary heart disease was significantly greater in the drug-treated group than in the untreated group. However, no significant effect upon overall rate of death was observed. Altogether, these studies were seen to justify the assumption. That antihypertensive drug treatment saves lives and reduces fatal and nonfatal complications. Of this threat to health. So in spite of the fact that some physicians had begun to worry about. The increasing number of totally unexpected adverse effects for the last forty-five years. Almost all people diagnosed as having primary hypertension have faced the prospect of a lifetime of treatment with drugs. Subscribe Now And leave a comment below! Thank you for watching! Thiazide Medication May Help Elderly Lower Fracture Risk

00:49
New data suggests that one drug may help the elderly with two big health issues. For the elderly, weakened bones and high blood pressure increase the risk of fractures. But according to a study surveying thousands of the people, certain anti-hypertension medications lower the risk of breaking bones compared to people on other blood pressure meds. According to a doctor who reviewed the study, it comes as no surprise since thiazide diuretics lower calcium excretion into the urine. Dr. Caroline Messer added a tendency towards a positive calcium balance in the body can slow bone loss, and therefore reduce the risk of a fracture. http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2016/11/21/Thiazide-blood-pressure-meds-may-lower-risk-of-fracture/6881479749574/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

High blood pressure medicine found to contain problematic impurity

The government says about 300,000 people have been prescribed high blood pressure medication tainted with NDMA, a probable carcinogen. Taiwan''s FDA detected NDMA in four medications produced by a Taiwanese company with ingredients sourced from China. Their discovery follows a similar incident last month, when other blood pressure medicines with Chinese ingredients were found to contain NDMA.This is Asartan, a drug that treats high blood pressure. Taiwan''s FDA has discovered batches of the drug tainted with NDMA, a potential carcinogen. The FDA has also found NDMA in Valsart 160 and 80 mg tablets, as well as Valsart-H.Chi Jo-fengTaiwan FDACurrently, we''ve also detected NDMA in products of Rundu Pharma in Zhuhai, China.Officials say that back in July, the FDA had seized tablets that contained a problematic active pharmaceutical ingredient sourced from China. This time around, the FDA found four more medications tainted by NDMA. Two of them were in fact the same medication seized back in July, although they had a different batch number. All the problematic medication had been produced by Tainan''s Standard Chem & Pharm Company.Voice of Kuo Lung-changStandard Chem & Pharm Co.We are victims, too. The active pharmaceutical ingredient came in. We took it and conducted all the required tests. The FDA estimates that these two batches of tainted drugs account for 5% to 6% of all drugs approved by Taiwan''s National Health Insurance, affecting over 300,000 people with high blood pressure. The FDA says affected patients should not suddenly stop taking blood pressure medication, but instead should go back to their clinic for an alternative drug.Pharmacists say patients can look up the batch number on their medication to see if they have problematic tablets.

Diuretics For Hypertension

01:06
http://www.highbloodpressurearticles.com/high-blood-pressure-medications.html The wide range of antihypertensives in the market is likely to confuse the patient. How do they differ from one another? What is the best one for you? The following guide will hopefully give you a better understanding of these drugs and make things easier for you. Diuretics are the earliest drugs for hypertension that have been around since 1957. Many doctors prescribe them first and over 15 million Americans use them. They lower blood pressure by increasing the rate at which sodium and water are eliminated from the body. The main advantage of diuretics is their low price. Patients don't' have to spend much while using them. The bad news is that they have a lot of side effects. "One man in three who take diuretics becomes impotent. These agents often raise blood sugar (which, however, returns to normal when you stop the drug). They elevate uric acid levels in the blood, and a high uric acid causes gout so that if you're vulnerable, you may wake up one morning with a big red, swollen, painful toe. They can upset an empty stomach (so always have your diuretic with food or milk). And then there's the matter of voiding. Diuretics are usually taken once a day, either with breakfast or at bedtime. A morning dose will keep you 'running' all day; taken at bedtime you're likely to get up every hour or so during the night to empty your bladder," said Dr. Isadore Rosenfeld of the New York Hospital - Memorial Sloan - Kettering Cancer Center in "The Best Treatment." But that's not all. While increasing the elimination of salt and water from the body, diuretics may rob you of valuable minerals like potassium and magnesium. This can leave you weak and confused. Low potassium levels, a condition called hypokalemia, have been linked to arrhythmias or irregular heart beats. Researchers believe this was the cause of death of some male hypertensive patients in Australia who received diuretics without potassium supplementation. On the basis of this and other findings, Dr. Hamid Ikram, head of the Department of Cardiology at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Christchurch, New Zealand said that "diuretic therapy may shorten lifespan." There are other ways in which diuretics can make life miserable for you. While they can effectively lower blood pressure, they do not decrease the incidence of heart attacks. This is probably because diuretics have the nasty ability of raising the blood's cholesterol level, making the patient susceptible to heart disease. "Statistically speaking, when, blood pressure has been lowered by a diuretic, the incidence of heart attacks is not decreased. We used to think that as long as your blood pressure stayed down, no matter what medication was used, the risk of heart attack was reduced. That appears to be true for almost every antihypertensive drug except the diuretics. In other words, when blood pressure has been normalized by using diuretics, the incidence of stroke is decreased, but not the incidence of heart attacks," Rosenfeld warned. "For all these reasons, I prefer not to prescribe diuretics as first-line drugs in white hypertensive patients. However, despite their drawbacks as antihypertensives, they do have an important place in the treatment of heart failure, whenever the body retains fluids and in certain 'sodium-sensitive' forms of high blood pressure, especially common in blacks," he added, (Next: Beta-blockers for hypertension.) Since obesity is a factor in hypertension, it pays to lose weight. To help you shed those unwanted pounds, take Zyroxin, a safe and natural supplement that will maximize your weight loss through its unique fat-burning ingredients. Diabetes and Hypertension Medication - Part 3

02:16
If you have diabetes and hypertension, your physician will explain the interaction of antihypertensive medications and blood glucose levels. Because of this interaction, if you need medication, your medication and diet may be a little different from those prescribed for others with high blood pressure who do not have diabetes. Diuretics are the most widely prescribed category of antihypertensive drugs. Unfortunately, in addition to reducing your blood pressure, some diuretics may also reduce your potassium stores. Some authorities say that inadequate potassium may interfere even more with your ability to make adequate insulin. If you are advised to take a diuretic, you may also be advised to eat a diet rich in potassium (bananas, citrus fruits) or take a potassium supplement. Some diuretics also tend to increase levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, and you may be advised to offset these effects by following a diet that includes less animal fat and fewer dairy products. Many persons with hypertension take one of a category of drugs known as beta blockers, which influence one part of the sympathetic nervous system. Tex works by blocking the effects of the stimulation coming to the heart and blood vessels through an I special group of sympathetic nerve fibers called beta-adrenergic. These drugs decrease cardiac output by acting on nerve receptor sites in the heart. In this way, they reduce the amount of sympathetic nervous output into the heart. The heart rate slows the heart does not work as hard, less blood is pumped, and blood pressure goes down. However, the beta blockers also suppress the effect of hormones, including adrenaline, responsible for constricting blood vessels and maintaining salt and water levels in the body.
