Does Soy Cause Cancer?

The real answer to this question is “it’s complicated,” but Lauren breaks down the current research and evidence for you. Learn more at HowStuffWorks.com: http://recipes.howstuffworks.com/soy-bad-for-you1.htm Share on Facebook: http://goo.gl/2TzT9N Share on Twitter: http://goo.gl/17YitP Subscribe: http://goo.gl/ZYI7Gt Visit our site: http://www.brainstuffshow.com I’m Lauren, this is BrainStuff, and our question today is “Does soy cause cancer?” I wanna be awkwardly straightforward here: The answer is “it’s complicated”. But I’m gonna break down the current research and evidence for you. First, let’s talk about soy. It’s pretty cheap to cultivate because it yields a lot of edible stuff per acre. You can cook and eat soybeans, of course, but you can also process them into soy sauce, miso paste, soy oil, soy milk, tofu, fat-free soy meal and etc., or even isolate out particular compounds. Each type of soy product has (obviously) different nutritional properties. So saying that soy as a whole “does” anything is treading on shaky ground. But! One of the things that soy can do is act like estrogen in your body. That’s because soybeans contain particles called isoflavones, which are chemically similar to estrogens. They’re less potent than estrogen, but similar enough that isoflavones can fit into cellular receptors that were designed for estrogen. For example, breast tissue cells contain estrogen receptors. And sometimes, when a li’l chunk of estrogen locks into one of those receptors, it causes a chain reaction that encourages cancerous tumor growth. But isoflavones can block it from happening! If isoflavones get to those receptors first, the estrogen can’t lock in and set off the tumorous reaction. Isoflavones can also spur cells to produce a protein that binds to free-roaming estrogen in your body, meaning it has a hard time locking into receptors. And isoflavones can even prevent estrogen from forming in fat tissue the first place. So eating soy food products may help prevent some cancer. And yes, research backs this up. In medical studies following large populations of women for many years, eating a variety of soy stuff as part of your normal diet has been found to either have no association with breast cancer or sometimes to protect against it. Now, there are laboratory studies with mice and rats that have linked cancer specifically to two types of soy protein isolates and to high doses of isoflavones. But mice are not men. We need more research to determine whether the same link is present in humans, and if so, at what levels of consumption. Important note: The soy isolates used in these studies aren’t what go into our food – though they are similar to soy supplement pills. There are so many factors involved in diet and lifestyle and cancer. It’s nigh impossible to link any food to cancer definitively at our current level of knowledge. But basically, science says that it’s safe to eat a moderate amount of soy products, cancerwise. You just probably shouldn’t take soy supplements until we learn more about how they affect us. Soy gets a bad rap from some "health experts," yet it's benefits are indisputable. In today's episode of "The Sitch," the first of a 3-part series on the health effects of soy, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Whitney English is breaking down the bs on soy and cancer. Think soy causes cancer? Think again! Research shows soy consumption likely prevents many types of cancer including breast and prostate cancer and reduces the risk of reoccurrence in cancer survivors. Soy-based diet exacerbates seizures in mouse models of neurological disease. J Alzeimers Dis. 2012 Oct 3. [Epub ahead of print] =============================================== 🥔 Can Soy Make You Fat, Depressed, Cause Cancer & Kill Your Libido? =============================================== Today I want to discuss one of the most consumed foods in the US and that’s soy. And it’s a hidden “protein” source in so many products, especially “health” and “vegetarian” products. Soybeans are beans and thus, legumes. They originated from Asia and eaten in small quantities their, as the WHOLE bean. Unfortunately, over 95% of “soy” eaten in the US is made from the soybean into foods such as tofu, soybean oil, soy milk and various soy proteins. This is NOT the natural form of this food. It’s been modified. In fact, well over 90% of soy produced in the world is Genetically Modified (GMO) and the crops are sprayed with the herbicide Roundup, which is associated with numerous adverse effects on health (1) And because it’s so cheap, soybean “meal” is given to livestock - which is NOT a natural food for them. And it’s also found in so many processed foods, including “health” foods. So, let’s get right to it and why I suggest you avoid soy High In Omega 6 Polyunsaturated Fats Soy is very high in Omega 6 fats, which causes inflammation, insulin resistance and weight gain. Thus, never eat soybean oil. High In Phytates Soy is also very high in phytates, substances that bind minerals and reduce their absorption. Endocrine Disruptor Soy contains large amounts of biologically active compounds called isoflavones, which function as phytoestrogens... that is, plant-based compounds that can activate estrogen receptors in the human body (2). These isoflavones are classified as endocrine disruptors, chemicals that interfere with the normal function of hormones in the body. So, what does this mean for you? Bad For Women The increase in estrogens from the soy isoflavones can cause breast cancer (3, 4, 5). There are lots of clinical studies backing this up. For example, in one study after only 14 days of eating soy protein, there was a significant increases in proliferation (increase in number) of the epithelial cells in the breasts, which are the cells that are most likely to turn cancerous (6). And in another study, there was a 29.2% increased number of breast epithelial cells when they supplemented with soy protein (7). There are also human studies where soy caused disruptions of the menstrual cycle, leading to delayed menses and prolonged menstruation (8, 9). Bad For Men Now, let’s talk about the guys. Exposure to soy isoflavones in the womb can lead to adverse effects on sexual development in males -- small penises! (10, 11). In one human study, 99 men attending an infertility clinic were studied. The men that had eaten the most soy for the past 3 months had the lowest sperm count (12). Bad For Your Thyroid Soy can also inhibit the function of the enzyme thyroid peroxidase, which is essential for production of thyroid hormones (14, 15). Mental Health Issues Finally, soy consumption has long been associated with ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, dementia and other mental health issues.16 ======================================== ======================================== Thank you for watching. Top 10 Cancer Causing Foods You Should Avoid

08:56
Cancer is an abnormal growth of cells. There are more than 100 types of cancer, including breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma. Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss and a change in bowel movements. Many cancers can be prevented by not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, not drinking too much alcohol, eating plenty of vegetables, fruits and whole grains, not eating too much processed and red meat, and by avoiding many cancer causing foods that we have listed below. Microwave popcorn bags are lined with perfluorooctanoic acid, a compound that has been linked to various types of cancer, including liver, testicular and pancreatic cancer. Canned foods allow you to enjoy your favorite vegetables throughout the year. However, if you are concerned about your health, avoid canned food, especially canned tomatoes. The cans used to pack tomatoes and other foods are lined with a product called bisphenol A, BPA, an endocrine disruptor that may mimic or disrupt hormones and increase the risks for breast cancer, prostate cancer, early puberty, metabolic disorders, infertility, and several other problems. Farmed salmon is nowhere near as healthy as wild salmon, and eating farmed salmon puts you at a higher risk of developing cancer. Farm-raised fish are fed unnatural diets and contaminated with chemicals, antibiotics, pesticides and other known carcinogens found in materials like asbestos. Hydrogenated oils are vegetable oils, which cannot be naturally extracted like olive oil, soy or canola oil, they are chemically extracted from vegetables and is again chemically treated to change the smell and taste. This process turns unsaturated fat into a stable solid fat, resulting in trans fatty hydrogenated oil which is considered to be the worst type of fat and is known to cause cancer, heart disease, and immune system problems. Potato chips are deep-fried in temperatures above 120 degrees Celsius, which causes them to create a material called acrylamide, a well-known carcinogen found in cigarettes. Genetically modified foods (GMOs) are a rapidly growing industry and have made their way into the majority of our foods like corn, potatoes, grains and soybeans. Such food products are grown using harmful chemicals and, when consumed, can lead to immune system, brain and liver damage. Refined sugar, artificial sweeteners and fructose-rich sweeteners like high-fructose corn syrup are not good for your health. These products tend to rapidly spike insulin levels and feed the growth of cancer cells. Refined White flour contains excess carbohydrates that are not good for your health and even increase the risk of cancer. During the milling process, white flour is bleached with chlorine gas, which is highly toxic for the body. Processed meats such as ham, sausage and bacon have chemicals and preservatives like sodium nitrates, which make them bad for your health. In addition, processed meat contains excessive salt, which is also not good for you. Pickled and smoked foods are delicious but, at the same time, very harmful to the body. In fact, smoked meats that pick up tar from the smoking process cause extreme harm to your body. Plus, most pickled foods contain nitrates that turn into N-nitroso, which increases your risk of cancer.

In this video Dr. Meschino discusses soy products and its many benefits for breast cancer survivors. And important report, which included data from four national cancer institute funded studies, has shown that the consumption of soy products by breast cancer survivors reduced their risk of cancer recurrence, progression and mortality when compared to breast cancer survivors who do not consume soy. It was proven that women who consumed a specific minimum amount of soy isoflavones had lower cancer recurrence and mortality. These studies involved over 18,000 women between 20 and 83 years old who had been previously diagnosed with invasive primary breast cancer and combined data 9 years after treatment. The details are important as it helps dispel the myth that soy actually causes the problem. More information can be found by clicking on the above link.

The Truth about SOY (and estrogens)

02:36
Soy has long been marketed to us as a healthy alternative to Dairy and as a good source of Protein. However as Dr. Korde explains in the video Soy can affect are hormonal balance adversely. Therefore he recommends especially for men, that it is if consumed only in moderation. Soy Dangers Summarized (from an excellent article on Dr. Mercola's site http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/12/04/soy-dangers-summarized.aspx ) High levels of phytic acid in soy reduce assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. Phytic acid in soy is not neutralized by ordinary preparation methods such as soaking, sprouting, and long, slow cooking, but only with long fermentation. High-phytate diets have caused growth problems in children. Trypsin inhibitors in soy interfere with protein digestion and may cause pancreatic disorders. In test animals, soy containing trypsin inhibitors caused stunted growth. Soy phytoestrogens disrupt endocrine function and have the potential to cause infertility and to promote breast cancer in adult women. Soy phytoestrogens are potent anti-thyroid agents that cause hypothyroidism and may cause thyroid cancer. In infants, consumption of soy formula has been linked to autoimmune thyroid disease. Vitamin B12 analogs in soy are not absorbed and actually increase the body's requirement for B12. Soy foods increase the body's requirement for Vitamin D. Toxic synthetic Vitamin D2 is added to soy milk. Fragile proteins are over-denatured during high temperature processing to make soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein. Processing of soy protein results in the formation of toxic lysinoalanine and highly carcinogenic nitrosamines. Free glutamic acid or MSG, a potent neurotoxin, is formed during soy food processing and additional amounts are added to many soy foods to mask soy's unpleasant taste. Soy foods contain high levels of aluminum, which is toxic to the nervous system and the kidneys. So Soy is clearly not just a safe health food that is marketed to us for mass consumption. The Chinese and the Japanese would ferment it for long periods before consumption. Can Soy Cause Cancer? | Healthy Food

02:04
Watch more How to Eat Healthy Food videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501150-Can-Soy-Cause-Cancer-Healthy-Food A lot people are concern about soy and whether or not it's a health food or whether it causes cancer. So there's a lot of variable to think about. One is that highly processed soy foods are associated with certain types of cancer. Now, we tend to eat soy in crazy ways, in crazy amounts. So you want to choose only the best quality soy foods. Like fermented soy. Those are the safest. And the fermented soy foods are tempeh and naturally brewed soy sauce, and miso. Those soy foods are much safer and you get a lot of health benefits from them. You don't want to consume all the highly processed soy foods. Like soy hot dogs and soy ice cream and soy nuggets. We tend to eat soy in a lot of really processed ways all throughout the day. So instead choose one or two servings of the fermented soy foods to get your protein needs meet. You also want to be sure that the soy you're eating is organic, because soy is one of the most commonly genetically modified foods and we don't know if genetically modified foods contribute to our cancer risk. So, if you're eating soy, you want to make sure you're getting organic soy. And that's the safest bet. Soy milk is one of the foods that's in kind of a grey area. It's not for fermented and their are less processed versions of soy milk that you can consume and enjoy that may be healthier. So you definitely want to choose an organic soy milk and one that's not highly sweetened. There are some brands that really sweeten their soy milk. You can get great unsweetened soy milk to use. Either vanilla unsweetened or just plain. Choose that instead. Make sure it's organic. And if you're not sure, choose another plant milk like coconut or almond. Or even hemp milk instead of soy milk.

Dr. Axe clears up the soy controversy by explaining what forms of soy you should eat and what forms you should avoid. -Soy can be healthy or harmful. It all depends on the form of soy you are consuming. -In 1995, Monsanto began genetically modifying soybeans. In 1997, 8% of soybeans were genetically modified. In 2010, 93% of soybeans were genetically modified. -Processed, isolated soy contains phytoestrogens, which have been linked to cancer, heart disease, and hormonal imbalance. -Soy formulas are harmful for babies. -Healthy alternatives for babies who cannot drink breast milk include goat milk and coconut milk formulas: -Fermented soy contains health benefits and can help prevent cancer, reverse heart disease, promote anti-aging, and promote immune and digestive functions because it contains beneficial bacteria and probiotics. Soy to Avoid: -Soy Milk -Processed Soy Proteins -Soy Milk Formulas Soy to Consume: -Natto: contains Vitamin K2 to promote bone health, prevent cancer, and prevent blood-clotting -Miso -Tempeh Replace soy milk with almond milk or coconut milk https://draxe.com/recipe/almond-milk-recipe/ For more health, nutrition, and fitness tips, visit: http://draxe.com *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. Does SOY Cause CANCER, Early MENOPAUSE, MOOBS? | SOY MYTHS Debunked | Feat. Diet Debbie

05:31
In this episode of Abbey's Kitchen Abbey dives deep into the world of soy dispelling many of the myths that have proliferated throughout the web regarding its viability. Abby is joined in this episode, once again, by Extreme Diet Debbie who is extremely confused about the benefits soy can have on your body when consumed in a healthy way. Soy can be found in soy sauce, tofu, soy nuts, soy milk, miso soup, tofu and many other products available on the market. Diet Debbie's first claim against soy is that it is a terrible source of protein and that only meat can give you what you need to get "jacked". Soy is actually considered a complete protein. This simply means that it has all the amino acids our body needs in order to function properly. In fact, one cup of cooked soybeans packs 22 grams of protein. That's only a few grams shy of what you would get from a typical steak. Switching soy out for your meat from time to time is definitely not going to have any negative impact on your protein intake. Some research even suggests that soy may help to lower your cholesterol and reduce your risk of heart disease. Debbie's second claim against soy is that it keeps menopause from happening and anything that interferes with your body's natural processes cannot possibly be good for you. The actual controversy surrounding soy is that it contains isoflavones. Isoflavones are plant based compounds called phytoestrogens. These can interfere with our endogenous estrogen's ability to bind to the correct receptors. The thought behind soy being beneficial when estrogen starts to decline, as it does during menopause, is that the phytoestrogen will replace and bolster the lack of estrogen. Quite a bit of study has been done regarding the subject. A wide sweeping analysis of 15 of the studies conducted found that dietary isoflavones helped to reduce hot flashes without any serious side effects. Another analysis of over 62 studies conducted on a total of 6,000 women found that phytoestrogens helped to reduce hot flashes and vaginal dryness but had no impact on night sweats. That research all sounds pretty promising, but other research conducted has found that soy has no effect whatsoever on menopause. The bottom line here is that the research is inconclusive, there is no clear cut evidence that soy plays a role of any sort in menopausal symptoms. We can say without question after looking at this research that soy is absolutely not a replacement for hormone therapy. We can also say that is does not stop menopause from happening as Debbie claims. Debbie's third, and possibly most vicious claim against soy is that eating it will cause breast cancer. She even takes it a step farther and attributes the death of her Aunt Sue to the consumption of soy nuts. A claim like this requires a response based on hard facts. The hard facts in this scenario are that breast cancer can grow in the presence of excess estrogen, and we know that isoflavones and soy do mimic estrogen. There is no conclusive research linking soy to breast cancer. The vast majority of soy research conducted on humans suggests that not only is it completely safe it may actually be beneficial. There is a wide array of research that strongly suggests there is no absolutely no relation between soy and breast cancer. Some of that research even suggests that consuming soy may reduce your chance of breast cancer, or in individuals that have suffered with it in past can reduce your chance of a recurrence. The American Cancer Society has gone on record stating that as long as soy is consumed in moderation, which is about 3 servings a day, there is in fact no risk at all. Debbie's next claim is that her boyfriend once ate a tofu burger and grew a pair of boobs. This is based on the idea that soy can act like estrogen. Unfortunately, a fair amount of the population of men consuming soy worry that bringing that additional phytoestrogen into their bodies will somehow effect their levels of testosterone turning them into "girly men", for lack of a better phrase. Again, we need to turn to the facts here. Studies have shown that even high levels of soy consumption have never resulted in a man growing a pair of breasts. One study even found that men that consume soy had a lower risk of getting prostate cancer. Debbie’s makes several more wicked claims against soy that you’ll have to watch the full video to get the scoop on. We hope this has shed some light on the true nature of soy and its potential benefits for all you out there consuming soy products on a regular basis. As always thank you for watching and stay tuned for more episodes coming soon. Is Soy Bad for You?

05:26
For more info: https://draxe.com/is-soy-bad-for-you/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Feb-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=soy A common question I’ve received recently is, “Is soy bad for you?” The answer is, yes, the majority of the time. It all depends on the form you’re buying it in. Ninety-five percent of the soy out there today is bad for you. Soy was a different type of soy a long time ago versus the kind of soy we eat today. Today, processed soy contains phytoestrogens, which are estrogen-mimikers in the body. If you’re a male consuming soy, it will give you feminine characteristics or if you’re a female consuming soy, it puts you at risk for breast cancer and hormone imbalance disorders. Additionally 90% of soy today is genetically modified, which kills off the good bacteria in your gut, known as probiotics. Because of the phytoestrogens and GMOs, soy can actually be extremely harmful for you. This includes soy protein, soy milk, or any other soy product. On the other hand, soy can be good for you if it’s in an organic, fermented soy form. This type of soy, also known as Natto, is loaded with probiotics, it’s non-GMO, and high in vitamin K2. For more information on phytoestrogens, you can check out my article here: https://draxe.com/phytoestrogens/ *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. 10 Disturbing Reasons To Stop Drinking Soy Milk | 10 Dangers Of Drinking Soy Milk

02:53
10 Disturbing Reasons To Stop Drinking Soy Milk | 10 Dangers Of Drinking Soy Milk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axS97KAMdFs Most people are making an effort to improve their nutrition. These people often use soy products and replace cow’s milk with soy, because soy milk does not contain lactose. Soy milk is widely used by vegans and people who are lactose intolerant. Soy milk is healthy and it contains a lot of protein, iron, vitamin B, calcium and most importantly it contains small amounts of saturated fat and cholesterol. However you should know that soy milk can still seriously harm your health. Please subscribe and click the bell for more informative health videos. Here in this video we will tell you several reasons why you should avoid consuming soy milk and what can this milk do to your health. Top Ten Reasons to Avoid Soy Milk. 1. Soybeans contain large quantities of natural toxins that affect estrogen levels. Drinking just two glasses of soy milk a day can significantly alter the hormones in a woman’s body, disrupting the menstrual cycle. 2. Soybeans contain haemagglutinin, a clot-promoting substance that causes red blood cells to clump together. 3. About 99% of soy is genetically modified, so it contains one of the highest pesticide contamination levels. 4. Soybeans and soy products contain high levels of phytic acid, which inhibits the assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. 5. Soy foods contain high levels of aluminum, which is toxic to the body. It negatively affects the nervous system and the kidneys, and it’s been linked to Alzheimer’s disease. 6. Fragile soy proteins are exposed to high temperatures during processing to make soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein. This makes them dangerous for human digestion. 7. Soy contains toxic isoflavones, genistein and daidzein. They can stimulate the growth of existing breast cancer. 8. Soy contains plant estrogens called phytoestrogens, which disrupt endocrine function and can lead to infertility and breast cancer in women. 9. Soy foods have high levels of goitrogens which block production of thyroid hormones. 10. Nitrates, potent carcinogens, are formed during the spray-drying process. While the type of food you decide to put into your body is a personal choice, being informed is the best way to make a decision that benefits your health. Soy milk has been a topic of controversy for years, but there is a significant amount of evidence that proves it can have harmful affects on the body. 4 Foods That Mess Up Your Hormones

09:48
Please Subscribe for 3x Videos Per Week and Live Broadcasts! http://ThomasDeLauer.com 4 Foods That Mess Up Your Hormones 1. Soy - Specifically Non-Organic According to the National Institutes of Health, we do not fully understand the health effects of pesticides, but their use is associated with cancer, neurological conditions, and diabetes. (9) Phytoestrogens are found in numerous plants, including legumes, broccoli, beans, and soy products. Studies have found both positive and negative effects of phytoestrogens, so these are not necessarily bad - have been found to inhibit certain types of cancer and improve metabolic parameters (1). That said, phytoestrogens have a very similar structure to the estrogen found in our bodies. These phytoestrogens both connect to and stimulate estrogen receptors. Case Study In the Avon Longitudinal Study of Pregnancy and Childhood, it was found that 51 of 7,928 boys born suffered from hypospadias, a conditions where the penis does not work and appears abnormal. It was found that boys born to vegetarian mothers who had higher phytoestrogen content in their diets were more likely to be born with hypospadias. Soy formulas are of particular concern as this intake can be as high as four to seven times that of the quantity of phytoestrogen per pound of body weight as that of a traditional soy-based Asian diet. (7) 2. High Omega 6 Fats It is important to have a healthy balance of omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids in our diets, however in the USA we tend to consume about 14 to 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. Our bodies produce hormones from omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. The hormones produced from omega-6 fatty acids promote inflammation while those produced from omega-3 fatty acids help to reduce inflammation. (6) This large consumption of proinflammatory foods is coinciding with an increase in chronic inflammatory diseases, including obesity, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, and may others. 3. Flax Case Study - Rats Born to Mothers with 10% Flaxseed Diets Experienced Hormonal Effects and Birth Weight Differences In a 1998 study published in the Journal of Nutrition, rats were fed diets containing either 0%, 5% or 10% flaxseed while pregnant and during lactation. No difference was found between the 0% and 5% flaxseed diet, but there were weight and hormonal differences found between the 0% flaxseed and 10% flaxseed diet. 4. Dairy - Specifically Non-Organic In the US, the vast majority of our meat and dairy come from concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs). Animals raised in CAFOs are treated horribly, packed together, and fed unnatural diets. They are fed questionable chemicals to encourage faster growth and pumped with antibiotics to keep them alive. These antibiotics, hormones, and other chemicals may disrupt your endocrine system. Estrogens and insulin-like growth factor found in dairy are thought to encourage initiation in breast, endometrial, and prostate cancers. (11) References: 1. DID YOU KNOW THAT SOY MILK CAUSES THYROID CANCER, B12 AND VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY !

02:54
DID YOU KNOW THAT SOY MILK CAUSES THYROID CANCER, B12 AND VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY ! A bunch of evidence testified that soy and soy milk have a detrimental effect on the health, but Americans still consume this nutrient. There are facts that this milk which supposed to be healthy choice, actually can harm your health. We have the top ten reasons why you should not drink this milk: First, let us consider its contents: Natural Flavor, Soymilk (Filtered Water, Whole Soybeans), Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D2, Cane Sugar, Sea Salt, Carrageenan, Riboflavin (B2). These are the most important reasons why you should stop drinking soy milk: During their production procedure, fragile soy proteins are exposed to high temperatures, aiming at producing textured vegetable protein and soy protein isolate, so that are a serious threat to your health. It has been discovered that soy encourages the need of the body of vitamin D and vitamin B12. Soy also includes toxic isoflavones. Some of them, daidzein and genistein may trigger existent breast cancer growth which may be dangerous in consuming soy foods in the case of breast cancer. (Annals of Pharmacotherapy 2001 Sep; 35(9):118-21). 99% of soy is GMO, as it is one of the mostly pesticide- contaminated foods. Soy also has a compound similar to vitamin B12 which your body is unable to process. Therefore, soy products can lead to B12 deficiency. Soybeans and soy products have significantly high levels of phytic acid, which prevents the assimilation of copper, iron, zinc, calcium and magnesium. -Soybeans include hemagglutinin, which is a substance which causes clots, which leads to the clumping of red blood cells. Soy also has plant estrogens, known as phytoestrogens, which impede endocrine function and may cause breast cancer and infertility in women. Soy foods are also rich in toxic aluminum, which has a detrimental effect on the kidneys, the nervous system and has also been related to the incidence of Alzheimer’s. Soybeans include great amounts of natural toxins known as “ant-nutrients”. Therefore, the consumption of only 2 glasses of soy milk a day may greatly change the menstrual cycle in women. Medical researches state what soy milk can cause to our health. This health conditions are possible: o lesions, ulcerations, gastrointestinal inflammation, and colon cancer in laboratory animals.

This Healthy Drink soy milk May Be Harmful

This "Healthy" Drink (soy milk) May Be Harmful For more health information visit Bell2Fat.org/blog This “Healthy” Drink Destroys Your Thyroid & Is Linked To Breast Cancer! Natural Remedies In an effort to join the health revolution, many households have switched over from dairy milk to soy milk. Unlike milk from a cow, soy milk contains no lactose, so for people who avoid dairies, like vegans or those who have a lactose intolerance, soy milk seems like a good choice. Fortified soy milk is even a good source of protein, iron, B vitamins and calcium while being low in saturated fats and cholesterol. Sounds good on the surface, right? The only problem is that research has shown that consuming soy milk can put your health in serious danger. The ingredients in soy milk are: Soy milk (Filtered water, whole soybeans) Cane Sugar, Sea Salt, Carrageenan, Natural Flavor, Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin A palmitate, Vitamin D2, Riboflavin, Vitamin B12, Most of those ingredients probably sound familiar, and they don’t seem all that bad, but carrageenan may be one that you’re unfamiliar with. Carrageenans are a family of linear sulfated polysaccharides that are extracted from red edible seaweeds. They’re commonly used in the food industry for their gelling, thickening and stabilizing properties. Not only is the body not able to digest carrageenan, it has no nutritional value whatsoever. Even though it’s derived from a natural source, it’s destructive to the immune system. It triggers a negative immune response that causes inflammation. Research has linked carrageenan to a higher rate of colon cancer, along with gastrointestinal inflammation that can cause IBS, spastic colon, chronic diarrhea, and inflammatory bowel disease. While the type of food you decide to put into your body is a personal choice, being informed is the best way to make a decision that benefits your health. Soy milk has been a topic of controversy for years, but there is a significant amount of evidence that proves it can have harmful effects on the body. Here are 10 reasons why you should avoid soy milk: -- Soy involves plant estrogens known as phytoestrogens, which disrupt the function of the endocrine system and can cause infertility and breast cancer in women. -Around 99% of soy is GMO, meaning that it has one of the highest pesticide contamination levels. -- The process of production of soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein exposes the fragile soy proteins to high temperatures, which makes them harmful to human digestion. -Soy foods are rich in aluminum, which is toxic to the body, and negatively affects the kidney and the nervous system. Moreover, aluminum has been associated with Alzheimer’s. -Soybeans also involve haemagglutinin, which is a clot-promoting substance which forced red blood cells to clump together. -- Soy also has toxic isoflavones – genistein and daidzein, which trigger the growth of existing breast cancer. -- The spray-drying process leads to the formation of nitrates, which are powerful carcinogens. -- Soybeans are rich in natural toxins that affect estrogen levels. The consumption of just two glasses of soy milk daily dramatically changes the hormones in a woman’s body and leads to disruptions of the menstrual cycle. -- Soybeans and soy products are rich in phytic acid, which inhibits the assimilation of iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc, and copper.

Soy and health: Benefits and controversies - Mark Messina, PhD, MS

38:41
During the past 25 years the health effects of soyfoods have been extensively evaluated. Much of this research has been conducted because the soybean is a uniquely-rich source of isoflavones, non-steroidal molecules classified as both phytoestrogens and selective estrogen receptor modulators. However, soyfoods are not without controversy, as the estrogen-like effects of isoflavones have raised concerns that soyfoods may for example, worsen the prognosis of breast cancer patients, feminize men, and cause abnormal development in boys and girls. Importantly, most of the concerns are based primarily on research conducted in rodents or are derived from case studies in which participants consumed excessive amounts of soyfoods or isoflavones whereas benefits are based on clinical and epidemiologic data. For example, rodent research shows that isoflavone-containing products stimulate the growth of existing mammary tumors in athymic ovariectomized mice implanted with estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells whereas prospective epidemiologic research involving over 11,000 breast cancer patients shows post-diagnosis isoflavone intake reduces recurrence and breast cancer-specific mortality. Also, although two case reports each noted feminizing effects in individual males, these effects occurred in response to the consumption of approximately 12 servings of soyfoods per day. In contrast, feminizing effects have not been noted in the large number of clinical studies that have evaluated the effects of isoflavone exposure on reproductive hormone levels and sperm and semen parameters. This presentation will evaluate support for both the proposed benefits of soy and concerns and identify areas where more research is needed. ------------------ Aufgenommen beim VegMed 2014 -- http://www.vegmed.de

The Soy Estrogen Connection; Should You Eat Soy?

04:55
What's the connection between soy and estrogen? Should you be concerned? Watch to learn more! You may have heard there's a connection between soy and estrogen, and even that soy contains estrogen. It doesn't. Not quite, anyway. But it does contain compounds that mimick it, and there still may be concerns if you consume a lot. Watch to learn more! Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/user/ultimatefatburner/?sub_confirmation=1 Is soy protein safe?: http://www.ultimatefatburner.com/bodybuilding/soy-protein-review.html Soy https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11431339 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11577007 Soy based infant formulas (clinical data): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15047678 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22449212 Hey everyone, Paul from Ultimate Fat Burner.com here and today we're look at the soy and its connection to estrogen and whether that's something you need to worry about. And, if you stick around to the end of the video, I'm going to give you some real practical advice on using it properly. I'll be right back in just a couple of seconds, stick around, don't go anywhere! Alright, welcome back. So let's talk about soy and estrogen. What's the deal, what's going on, is it nonsense is it not nonsense? What do you need to know. Well, soy and soy products contain 3 isoflavones called... Genistein (gen-e-steen) Daidzein (daid zeen) glycitein (gly ce teen) These isoflanoes are known as phytoestrogens, which are plant compounds which mimick the female hormone estrogen. Guys, if you ever found yourself trying on your girlfriend's clothes or watching the notebook after a big feed of tofu and soy milk, this is why. OK, sorry that was silly and I am only kidding, but it actually cuts to the chase about the concern with soy products, and that is that these estrogen mimicking compounds that can actually interfere with the normal function of hormones in the body, and as a result have a negative effect on all sorts of things, including reproductive hormone levels and sperm counts in men. In addition, animal studies show that these compounds can also cause breast cancer, and in human studies, some women who supplemented with soy protein saw an increase in the number of epethial cells in the breasts, which is important because these are the cells that are most likely to turn cancerous. To make things even more confusing some observational studies suggest women who consume soy and soy products actually have a lower risk of breast cancer. And as a result, you'll hear all sorts of things about soy and soy products; that they are essentially poison and toxic and you shouldn't eat them and bla-bidy-bla-bidy blah and on the other hand you have folks telling you there's nothing to worry about, soy is wholesome and healthy and people have been eating soy and living happily ever after for 100's of years. The truth is that the science on the dangers of soy consumption is conflicting and contradictory and there's not enough conclusive to suggest whether or not soy consumption presents dangers, and more importantly, how much is dangerous. For almost every study that you can dig up showing a negative effect, you can find another one to contradict it. I realize tht's not particlarly helpful, so let me much needed context to the discussion about soy and estrogen.... 1) Soy isn't the only food we eat that contains the phytoestrogens we've been talking about today. They're common in many legumes also in our diet. 2) While humans have certainly eaten soy for 100's of years, it's only recently that we've gained easy access to foods like soy milk and soy protein which makes it easy to consume super-high, almost concentrated levels of these phytoestrogens without consuming a single soy bean. 3) There's an old saying - It's the dose that makes the poison" In my opinuion, that certainly applies here; the occasional use of soy and soy products is not going to hurt you and may even be beneficial. However, if you drink soy milk regularly, eat tofu and supplement with a soy based protein powder on a regular basis, you're more at risk to suffer the side effects and the dangers, should they actually turn out to be an issue, and we're not 100% sure that they are yet. So what's the bottom line here? What's a practical recommendation for soy consumption? Use common sense. My personal recommendation is don't worry about the occasional use of soy products, but I would think carefully about regular, repeated use of them, especially those foods that make it really easy to consume a lot of soy constituents ... soy milk or soy protein powder.
