Symbicort Side Effects - Dangers with Better Solutions

07:41
Click on the link below for a free video guide to shopping for dietary supplements. http://utahtexans.com/ In this video I'm going to share some of the major side effects of the drug symbicort and I'm going to share a few better options. Breathing is important right? Symicort does help someone breath by reducing inflammation in the airways. It's commonly prescribed to people with asthma or lung disease. If you don't have insurance this inhaler is going to cost around $300, which is expensive. It lasts about 30 days if you take 2 puffs a day. The main ingredient in this drug is Formoterol. Researchers from Cornell and Stanford universities have looked at 19 trials with over 33 thousand patients and have concluded that the ingredient in this drug called Foroterol may be causing 4 out of 5 U.S. Asthma related deaths per year and should be taken off the market. You might be wondering how does this ingredient kill. The answer is according to the researchers is that the medication relieves asthma symptoms, however it promotes inflammation without warning. Almost like they relieve the symptoms for the short term, but make them worse overall. I'll share just 1 study and that is researchers found that 53 of 3,083 patients inhaling this ingredient were hospitalized for an asthma attack, compared with 12 of 2,008 patients who received a placebo. Let's talk about some of the most common side effects and that would be headache, throat irritation, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, back pain, stuffy nose, muscle or joint pain, or changes in your voice. Of course there are many other side effects that you could experience depending on how your body reacts to the drug. At this point you might be wondering if there are better options. I would highly encourage you to look at bee pollen for allergies. According to the “Journal of Allergy” 78% of asthma patients averaged a 75% improvement after taking bee pollen. Another great idea that is often overlooked is vitamin D, which you can get in a multivitamin. In the September issue of the “Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology” researchers reviewed nearly 60 years' worth of literature on vitamin D with asthma. They found that a vitamin D deficiency is linked to increased airway reactivity, lower lung functions, and worse asthma control. To learn more ideas click on the link below. http://utahtexans.com/

Asthma how-to: How to use an inhaler with a spacer and mouthpiece

02:24
There are many asthma treatment options depending on your child's age and preference. Metered dose inhalers, which are commonly called puffers or inhalers, spray the medicine out so that you can breathe it deep into the lungs. Inhalers deliver medicine very quickly. Inhalers are compact and light so they can be easily taken with you wherever you go. It's very important to use your inhaler the correct way to make sure the medicine gets deposited into the lungs, where it works the best. Incorrect technique can leave some of the particles from the medicine on your tongue or throat, where it won't help at all. A spacer, or holding chamber, is an attachment that should always be used with your inhaler. The spacer holds the medicine in place so you can breathe it in easier. First, remove the cap from the bottom of your inhaler. When you get your new inhaler from the pharmacy, you need to "prime" or "waste" it by spraying the medicine into the air four times. Now, fit your inhaler into the opening at the end of the spacer. Shake the inhaler well for ten seconds. Turn your head to the side and breathe out. Close your mouth around the mouthpiece of the spacer. Push down on the inhaler once. Now the medicine is inside the spacer. Right away, take a slow, deep breath. The goal is to not hear a whistling sound. If you do, this means that you're breathing in too fast. Hold your breath for a count of 10. Now, slowly breathe out. Rinse your mouth out with water or brush teeth after using controller medicines such as inhaled steroids. Many times, the correct dose of your medicine will be to inhale two puffs. If this is what is prescribed for you, then wait one minute after the first puff, and then follow all of the steps again. Remember if you have questions, call your doctor's office, asthma care team or pharmacy. Very common Treatable by a medical professional Requires a medical diagnosis Lab tests or imaging often required Chronic: can last for years or be lifelong Asthma can be minor or it can interfere with daily activities. In some cases, it may lead to a life-threatening attack. Asthma may cause difficulty breathing, chest pain, cough and wheezing. The symptoms may sometimes flare up. Asthma can usually be managed with rescue inhalers to treat symptoms (salbutamol) and controller inhalers that prevent symptoms (steroids). Severe cases may require longer-acting inhalers that keep the airways open (formoterol, salmeterol, tiotropium), as well as inhalant steroids. When asthma symptoms are in high gear and the wheezing and coughing sets in, it's the inhaler to the rescue -- the rescue inhaler, to be exact. COPD and Emphysema Medical Coding

09:20
COPD and Emphysema Medical Coding http://www.cco.us/ceu-respiratory-hemic-lymphatic-on-demand-class-yt If you're not familiar with what COPD is and emphysema, it's just common respiratory conditions. It is progressive and it will make the patient ultimately just have difficulty in breathing. Get more cpc exam tips, coding certification training and ceu credits. http://www.cco.us/cco-monthly-newsletter Alicia: COPD is actually one of the hardest, I think, ICD 9 codes to find especially for new students. COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. It's 496. If you're going to memorize a code, that's a good one to memorize because it is hard to find. Emphysema, 492.8 and asthma, 493.20. If you noticed... sorry, I spelled that wrong, didn't I? If you noticed that, all those are 49 codes. When you get into coding, they all follow a numerical pattern which, as you do them more, you'll notice that. So these are 400 codes is what we call them. COPD, you may have heard it again as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or Chronic Obstructive Asthma which means the airway swells and narrows. Chronic Bronchitis is a constant cough with mucus actually, and emphysema which is the destruction of the lungs over time. The Chronic Obstructive Asthma and chronic bronchitis, that can get better and get worse. But once you progress where the lung tissue is actually damaged then they state that it's emphysema now. So a person can have COPD that turned into emphysema. Sometimes in the documentation, you may see both. Emphysema trumps COPD and asthma. Common medications used for COPD patients, you'll see these a lot. Bronchodilators and inhalers and nebulizers. Let's see, the corticosteroids, you're going to see those a lot. The theophylline, albuterol, atrovent, combient... you notice how the names all sound kind of the same? That Serevent, I see that. Spiriva, that's a new one. You may have seen that one actually advertised on TV because it's a new one. Prednisone, a lot of patients that are... that have difficulty in breathing are put on prednisone because ultimately, it's an anti-inflammatory but it kind of dries out those tissues, as well. Often, your patients are going to be on O2 and generally, it's continuous O2. So that's one of the things you can look for in your documentation to confirm that your patient has COPD. SUBSCRIBE US | http://bit.ly/1KcnRTs A condition in which a person's airways become inflamed, narrow and swell and produce extra mucus, which makes it difficult to breathe. If you have asthma, your rescue inhaler should be among the first things you reach for when you leave the house, along with your wallet and car keys. Today, we are going to talk about the 3 common mistakes that people make when using an asthma preventer in the form of a metered dose inhaler - something like a Seretide or Flixotide inhaler. The first 3 mistakes that most people don’t consider is that they DON’T use a reliever first. Using a Ventolin or Asmol first before you use your preventer, will help open up your airways and help more of the preventer to go down. The second mistake that people make when using the preventer is to not brush their teeth afterward. So it's really important that you brush your teeth afterward because these preventers contain a low dose steroid that reduces swelling in the airways. The preventers leave the steroid in the mouth and if you don’t brush your teeth afterward, it has a chance of causing an infection in the mouth and can leave an unpleasant sensation. So it’s always best to brush your teeth afterward. And the third and final mistake when people use when using one of these Seretide or Flixotide inhalers is not using a spacer. So it's really really important to use a spacer because all the research has been done to show that 90% of your dose does not get down into your lungs. So there is really no excuse for using it without a spacer. Even adults, lots of adults have misconceptions about using a spacer. It's just best to use one! Just to recap if you’re using your preventer to help manage your asthma. The 3 major things are: One, make sure you use your reliever first to allow more of the dose to go down. Two, make sure you brush your teeth after every dose usually twice a day. And the third thing is please make sure you use of a spacer If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below and I’ll answer them. Thank you.” DISCLAIMER: REMEMBER: THIS IS GENERAL ADVICE ONLY. ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL FOR DETAILED PERSONALISED MEDICAL ADVICE. Using an Inhaler with a Spacer Mask

02:02
An inhaler is the most common way to take asthma medicine. In order to get the medicine all the way to the lungs, you need to use a spacer. If you don’t use a spacer, only about 1/3 of the medicine gets to the lungs. Visit http://www.choa.org/asthma for more information.

VENTOLIN. Cómo usar un inhalador

01:47
