Current advice says that bodybuilders should consume 25–30% of protein per total calorie intake to further their goal of maintaining and improving their body composition. This is a widely debated topic, with many arguing that 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day is ideal, some suggesting that less is sufficient, while others recommending 1.5, 2, or more.It is believed that protein needs to be consumed frequently throughout the day, especially during/after a workout, and before sleep. There is also some debate concerning the best type of protein to take. Chicken, turkey, beef, pork, fish, eggs and dairy foods are high in protein, as are some nuts, seeds, beans and lentils. Casein or whey are often used to supplement the diet with additional protein. Whey protein is the type of protein contained in many popular brands of protein supplements, and is preferred by many bodybuilders because of its high Biological Value (BV) and quick absorption rates. However, whey has a bigger effect than Casein on insulin levels. Whey triggers about double the amount of insulin release. That effect is somewhat overcome by combining Casein and whey. Bodybuilders are usually thought to require protein with a higher BV than that of soy, which is additionally avoided due to its claimed estrogenic properties. Full Meal Plan to Lose Weight (Step by Step Recipes)
This is a sample of a Full Meal Plan to help you Lose Weight and achieve your goals. They are made of simple ingredients, quick and very easily put together. The foundation of this meal plan has: • 3 ounces of lean protein • 1 complex carb • Unlimited vegetables • 1 healthy fat Each meal should be about 350 calories (or fewer) Example of Protein you can use: Chicken, Turkey, Fish (any kind), tuna, tofu, eggs, beef or pork tenderloin. Example of Complex Carbs: Brown Rice, Whole Grain Pasta, Oatmeal, Sweet Potatoes, Wholemeal Bread, Wraps, Pita Bread. Example of Healthy Fat: Nuts, Olive Oil, Seeds, Avocado, Omega-3 (from fish) In order for this plan to be Effective, you are recommended to: 1) Prepare Your Food in Bulk lasting 2 -- 3 days to make it stress free. 2) These meals are interchangeable. So you can have your snack for breakfast, breakfast for lunch etc. 3) Only use and Prepare high quality food like chicken, brown rice, sweet potatoes, vegetables or fish. So no white bread, white rice, processed food and ready meals at all. 4) Adjust the portion size and calories according to the product you use. Mine might be slightly difference from yours. So read the food label carefully. 5) You must drink 3-4L of water every day. 6) You must eat every 3 -- 4 hours throughout the day in small portion. 7) Make it a habit to plan and pack your meals the night before and store them in the fridge for the next day; this will make your mornings easier, which will help to keep you on track. 8) Print your meal plan and stick in on your fridge as a daily reminder to stay on track. 9) Keep a food dairy of what you eat and how you feel, which contributes towards your weight lost progress. 10) Exercise 5--6 times a week between 45 -- 60 mins for maximum result. A heathy diet for dinner could include vegetable dishes with a small amount of protein (but should be had in small quantity). Dr. Berg turns 50 years old on the 31st of March. Cook over medium heat until all the water is absorbed (about 5-7 minutes). Top with strawberries and peanut butter. Calories 492 Macros 67/23/10 Carbs 86g - Fat 14g - Protein 15g VEGGIE SUSHI ROLLS 2 cups cooked white rice 1/2 small avocado (50g) 1/4 English cucumber sliced 1/4 c shredded carrots 1 cup spring greens 2 sheets nori 1 tsp sesame seeds 2 tbsp coconut aminos for dipping (or soy sauce) Lay out your nori sheets and spread the rice evenly over them. Take your avocado and divide it between the two sheets. Smash it into the middle of the roll. Add your cucumber, carrots and greens and roll tightly like a burrito. Cut into sushi pieces and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Dip into coconut aminos. Place potatoes over your bowl of greens and drizzle with dressing. Top with fruit, cinnamon and walnuts. If you want to keep your dessert simple, just have a few pieces of fresh fruit if you are hungry. Where does your fruit come from and at what cost? | DW Documentary
Costa Rica is the world’s largest pineapple producer and Germany’s main supplier of the fruit. Cheap labor and pesticides mean low prices in Western Europe. While organic pineapples are now being farmed on a larger scale to increasing demand, this likewise has negative consequences for Costa Rica’s ecosystem. Tropical fruits such as pineapples, bananas and kiwis have been available in West European supermarkets for years. But the innocent appearance of these popular products is deceptive. The fruits are cheap because costs are cut in the production countries - affecting wages and health factors. Costa Rica is the world’s largest pineapple producer, and is known both for its exemplary ecological approach and for sustainable tourism. It is in this very country, however, where workers on plantations complain about a lack of rights. Pineapples are grown and harvested here in vast monoculture plantations using huge amounts of pesticides. According to studies conducted by Costa Rica’s national university, the country is not just a major tropical fruit exporter but also the world’s biggest per-hectare user of pesticides. Plantation workers have as a result been reporting rashes and headaches. At the heart of pineapple farming, to the northeast of the capital of San José, trucks regularly have to supply villages with clean drinking water because the groundwater has been contaminated with bromacil - a weed killer banned in the EU. In the north of the country huge pineapple plantations are threatening the livelihoods of traditional small farmers, while conventional banana plantations continue to grow across the southwest. Many supermarkets in Europe have recognized that they can make money with sustainability. Almost all the major chains have signed up to ecological quality seals that stand for responsible growing methods with low pesticide use. The example of Costa Rica, however, shows that such promises aren’t always strictly kept. Although there are farmers who have set up their own businesses with the new growing methods, and although the organic sector in Costa Rica is constantly growing, even organic bananas and pineapples require large areas of land for farming. Yummy Gluten Free and Casein Free Snacks -Unsweetened, unsulfured dried fruits -Raw nuts and seeds -Organic popcorn sprinkled with nutritional yeast -Almond butter on celery sticks or apple slices -Hard boiled eggs ("angel" eggs) -Sugar-free smoked salmon on organic rice cakes -Sliced raw veggies -Sesame seeds with local honey Instructions for "Angel" eggs: 1. Place eggs in pot. Cover with cold water. Add 1tsp. vinegar. 2. Cover until boiling. Turn heat off, do not uncover. 3. Let rest for 10-15 minutes or more. 4. Drain. Rinse under ice cold water. Crack shells and peel under water. 5. Cut eggs in half lengthwise. Scoop yolk out with a spoon into a bowl. Mix with mayonnaise and a small amount of mustard to taste. Mash lightly with a fork. 6. Isothiocyanates (ITCs) are the detox-regulating molecules made from broccoli's glucosinolates, and they help control the detox process at a genetic level. Broccoli may help us solve our vitamin D deficiency epidemic. When large supplemental doses of vitamin D are needed to offset deficiency, ample supplies of vitamin K and vitamin A help keep our vitamin D metabolism in balance. Broccoli has an unusually strong combination of both vitamin A (in the form of beta-carotene) and vitamin K. For people faced with the need to rebuild vitamin D stores through vitamin D supplements, broccoli may be an ideal food to include in the diet. Broccoli is a particularly rich source of a flavonoid called kaempferol. Recent research has shown the ability of kaempferol to lessen the impact of allergy-related substances on our body. Broccoli was introduced to the United States in colonial times, popularized by Italian immigrants who brought this prized vegetable with them to the New World. Three other areas of health benefits are important to mention when considering broccoli and its unique combination of nutrients. The first area is eye health. Two carotenoids found in significant concentrations in broccoli—lutein and zeaxanthin—play an especially important role in the health of the eye. In fact, no tissue in the body is more concentrated with lutein than the area in the outer portion of the retina (called the peripheral retina). Similarly, in the macula near the central portion of the retina, zeaxanthin is uniquely concentrated. Risk of problems involving the macula of the eye (for example, macular degeneration) and problems involving the lens area of the eye (for example, cataracts) have both been show to lessen with intake of foods (including broccoli) that provide significant amounts of the lutein and zeaxanthin carotenonids. A second area is skin support, including support of sun-damaged skin. Here it is the glucoraphanin found in broccoli—converted into sulforaphane by the body—that has received the most research attention. Since skin cells can carry out the process of detoxification, it may be detox-related benefits of sulforaphane that are especially important in helping to counteract sun damage. A third area of increasing research interest involves the metabolism of vitamin D. Broccoli is not a source of this vitamin, but it is an excellent source of vitamin K and also of vitamin A (in one of its precursor forms, beta-carotene). Many individuals have large vitamin D deficiencies that cannot be remedied through diet alone, and these deficiencies require sizable amounts of vitamin D to be provided through dietary supplementation. When large supplemental doses of vitamin D are needed to offset deficiency, ample supplies of vitamin K and vitamin A appear to help keep our vitamin D metabolism in the proper balance. Assuring adequate intake of vitamins K and A alongside of vitamin D supplementation may turn out to be important in achieving optimal vitamin D supplementation results and avoiding potential problems related to supplementation. Healty Eating Tips
I want to give you some healthy eating tips today. Healthy Eating should be stated "Healthful Eating", in case you care. To eat more healthfully start thinking about food as fuel. I used to eat mainly for pleasure, and I still do get pleasure out of eating, but it's no longer the point of eating. Thinking of food as fuel will get you eating foods that help your body perform optimally. Your body loves carbohydrates, and when you get them from fruits you get a whole lot of vitamins and minerals with them. Fruits are not only a great fuel source... They also taste real good. You don't have to stick to fruits alone though. Get a wide variety of plant based foods to get all your vitamins, minerals and amino acids. To make these foods great fuel, eat them as simply as possible. That doesn't mean you can't combine foods. A lot of plant foods go well together. The idea is to eat them without a bunch of things you don't need; things that potentially do more harm than good. Get used to eating your foods without a lot of condiments. Start your meal out with no salt or oil, for example, and see how you like it. Eat a few bites and fully salivate it to get all the nutrition out of it, and see how it tastes. If you need to add some salt, go ahead; Just make sure it's a salt that hasn't been refined down to sodium and chloride, and that you don't use too much. Foods do really taste good without putting a lot of extra stuff on them. Over time you'll be able to eat your foods like this more consistently. To develop more healthy eating habits, make sure your fuel source is the best. Is it organic or better. Some people don't take organic seriously. For me Organic is a Standard. I know it's generally better than the commercial things available, because organic food has to meet certain standards. Organic food cannot contain GMOs. Organic Standards don't allow harmful pesticides to be applied to organic crops. People who grow organic, generally take better care of the soil your food grows in, translating to more minerals in your foods. Organic is not the only thing that matters in terms of thinking of your food as fuel, but it definitely matters. Bottom line; Know what you are putting into your body and why, and make it the very best you can find. Awesome! Finally, no more overpriced foods that you could just buy elsewhere for nearly half the price! We will no longer be able to call Whole Foods “Whole Paycheck”. Today we’re going to talk about the merge of Amazon and Whole Foods. If you don’t know, Jeff Bezos is the founder of Amazon which originally started out as a bookstore and eventually grew to having millions of different products. Whatever product you can think of I assure you they have it. I highly recommend you learn about how Amazon started. It’s quite the story. With how affordable and efficient Amazon is, plus their purchase of a health conscious store “Whole Foods”, Jeff Bezos has to be more than just a businessman. Well, so I hope. So far based on the changes at Whole Foods it appears he may have a social conscience. Obviously it takes a bold, intelligent and somewhat selfish team to create a multi billion dollar business. Especially with the recent multi billion dollar decision to purchase Whole Foods. Yes of course, business is involved and it’s going to involve serious competition now. A great aspect to this competition is that other companies will now compete to offer more affordable organic produce! Hence Bezos possibly being a billionaire on our side. Whole Foods was originally considered a high class store gaining the nickname Whole Paycheck. I personally only knew of very wealthy people that could afford to shop there. I also knew employees that couldn’t afford to shop there, even with an employee discount. No joke. Whereas Amazon, they have items for just about every consumer at various competitive price ranges. By them purchasing Whole Foods, you immediately know they are going to open the market to a very large range of consumers by offering competitive prices. This is kind of a big deal Here's an overly ambitious thought. If Amazon can successfully compete with other grocery stores by keeping Whole Foods more affordable, they will literally be changing the health of our world. Rates of disease could potentially go down. The health of our species is determined by the environments in which we live. More people will feel financially confident in purchasing healthy organic foods and ultimately follow healthier lifestyles. The name Whole Foods has been built around the idea of healthy eating and living right into the minds of everyone. Just like how Mcdonald's is known for being a cheap processed junk food place for the family to eat. Walmart, Kroger, Meijer, Target, Aldi, Costco, etc.. They are still just places to buy any kind of food, processed and some organic. Whole Foods was intentionally marketed to sell health foods. It’s right in the name, whole-foods. People will go into the store with the intention of buying healthy organic whole foods. They will have lower temptations of purchasing junk food which doesn’t happen at other grocery stores. As an example: When you walk into Aldi, they have healthy foods on one side and processed foods on the other side. We all know if we see that bag of chips, cookies, cake or a chocolate bar 3 ft away, we’re going to grab it. Plus, processed food companies are using manipulative advertising by coloring their packaging green and saying their foods are “natural” with ingredients consumers can’t even read. Um everyone, lead is natural too but you don’t see us eating it. Ultimately these “natural” processed foods still contain lots of unhealthy ingredients that cause degenerative diseases. That’s why it’s so important that Whole Foods is lowering their prices. Thanks to Jeff Bezos and everyone involved at Amazon. Let’s hope they continue to make Whole Foods an affordable family friendly health store. If they don't, I will most certainly be making it negative videos about them :-). Guess what the conspiracy theorists are already saying about this shift of ownership. The end of organic foods is near!! Amazon buys Whole Foods in order to take over the world by owning the organic food industry! This is the end of organic foods forever!!!! Don’t forget the earth is flat!!!
