Airplane - Simple Christian Object Lesson
This is a simple paper tear object lesson that shares the basics of the gospel. One thing I like about this routine is that every time you perform it, you are teaching your audience to be able to use it, too. This is not original with me. In fact, I'm sure the basic tear is older than I am. There are a lot of variations on it. If I recall correctly, I was shown this basic routine by Doc Haley in a lecture back in the '80's. http://www.BradBrownMagic.com http://facebook.com/bradbrownmagic

MIN 220 Book of Mark Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness Main Passage: Mark 6:30-44 Supporting Passages: Matthew 14:22-23, Luke 9:10-17, John 6:5-15. Theological Principle: For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:32-33) Target Group and Needs this Lesson Can Address: The Chinese student and professors in Maryville Chinese Christian fellowship. Most of them don't know anything about Jesus before they came to America. Life Changing Teaching Point: We want all of us to learn through Mark 6:30-44 that seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all things that you need for life will be given to you as well. Lesson Objectives Knowledge Objective: Student will demonstrate knowledge of the story that Jesus feeds the five thousand by know that Jesus is the creator. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. Understanding Objective: Student will demonstrate understanding of the story that Jesus feeds the five thousand by know that we should seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all things that we need for life will be given to us as well. Appreciation Objective: Student will demonstrate appreciation/value of this exchange by share why do they come to the church. Purposeful Action Objective: Student will demonstrate desire for purposeful action/life change of why do they come to the church by confess our sins in public prayer to God. HOOK—What will you do to gain attention and focus the lesson? Method: Drama - Use one common scenarios of why a Chinese student come to the church in which the ideas of seek first His kingdom and His righteousness is the themes. There is a Chinese girl come to America for study. She comes to church with her American friend because she wants to practice her English, learn America culture and get a free ride to the Wal-mart every week. Two years later, her English is very good, she knows most everything about America culture, and she gets a new car. So she does not come to the church anymore. Because she thinks she cannot get anything from the church now. Questions: How would you describe the actions of that girl? Transition: That girl miss the most valuable thing that we may get from church: Know Jesus. How about the people at the time of Jesus? Let open our bible and open to Mark 6:30-44 to find the answer. BOOK—What will you do to help the group explore the Bible? Method: We want to read through the passage with the classes help. We are using the Chinese small group method of reading the Scripture. We will each be reading one verse but we will go through the passage twice. Then we will take a moment quietly to look at the passage for ourselves. We will then exposit on the passage pointing out areas that may be confusing but also highlighting the conversation in the bible. Questions: 1. Would you like to become that boy who bring the loaves and fish to Jesus? Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?" (John 6:8-9) 2. Who is Jesus? Did you ever make him as the king of the mundane life by your mind? After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world." Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself. (John 6:14-15) Transition: Let's now do some personal discussion about why we come to the church? LOOK—What will you do to help the group apply the teaching point to their lives? Method: Discussion of why we come to the church one by one. Questions: Why do you came to the church for the first time? Why do you want to get from the church? Why do you come to the church every week now? Transition: Is there anything make you want to change now? TOOK—What will you do to help the group take away the message and do something with it? Each student will be handed a slip of paper with their name on it. We will ask that each one writes a prayer need for their church life. We will then fold and collect them. Each student will draw a name out of the bag and agree to pray for that person's needs for the next week. We will take about 2 minutes to pray together, lifting up silently the requests of the class.

The Teacher Interview: Sample Questions & Answers
While a little long, this video offers eight questions commonly asked in the teacher interview, and how I would answer those questions. All of these are questions that I have been asked repeatedly in teacher interviews. While I did edit the video a bit, I can assure you it was to edit out the two year old calling for me in the background! :) My best advice for the teacher interview is to practice, practice, practice your answers to the common questions. The more confident you feel in the interview experience, the better you will feel and do. I have interviewed for SO MANY positions. I did not get hired for all of them, but I did learn a lot along the way. One summer I applied to over 52 positions. Yikes! When I started applying, I was sometimes up against 200 or more people for one position, and interviewing against 20 or more (if I got a call back to interview!). Good luck! AND Please let me know if there are more questions you have about the interview experience! As promised, here is that list of common interview questions that I have personally been asked at one time or another: a. Tell us about yourself b. What is your philosophy of teaching c. How do you use formative assessments to inform your teaching? d. What process do you use to lesson plan? e. How do you differentiate for students who are higher or lower? f. How do you differentiate for English Language Learners? g. What is your experience with the IEP and 504 process? h. What experience do you have collaborating with other teachers? i. Tell about a time when something went wrong in a lesson, what did you do? j. What is your favorite part of teaching? k. What do you do outside of teaching? l. How do you stay current in your field? m. What professional development experience do you have? n. How do you have a cycle of inquiry in your classroom? o. What approaches do you use to teach reading? p. What are your strengths/weaknesses as a teacher? q. How do you make accommodations for students who need it? r. What do you know about the RTI system? What experience do you have with it? s. What approaches do you use for classroom management? t. Describe a typical class period. u. What would a student of yours say about you as a teacher? v. What would a colleague say about you? w. What clubs or activities are you interested in participating in? x. Are you interested in coaching? If so, what? y. How do you integrate technology in your classroom? z. Describe a type when technology failed during a lesson, what did you do? aa. How do you increase communication between home and school? bb. Do you have any questions? i. This question seems so silly, but you need to ask at least one or two questions. ii. The purpose is to show them that you have researched the school a bit, and that you are interested. 1. Your school has a high population of English learners. What professional development do you offer teachers to support them in the classroom? 2. What is your parent involvement like?

Show that you deserve that trust by honoring the guests without getting in the way. Step 1: Make introductions Introduce yourself and start your remarks by thanking everyone for coming. Be cordial, humble, and speak for a couple minutes at the most. Give your welcome remarks genuinely, as if welcoming people into your home. Step 2: Say names correctly Refer to each special guest, having prepared by writing down their names, including how to pronounce them. Pay tribute to their successes, linking these to the event as you introduce them. Tip Double check that all your facts are correct before sharing the information. Step 3: Thanks contributors Thank those who have made the day possible, from the organizers of the event to the wait staff working the floor. Step 4: Review topics Reinforce the purpose or goal of the event. Offer a lead-in to the speech topics or events to follow. Tip You might want to tease the featured speaker with a light anecdote that gently pokes fun at them. Make sure to ask their permission first -- you want it to be funny for them as well as their future audience. Step 5: Share your hopes Share your personal hopes, ideas, or plans about the topic of the day. Step 6: End with good wishes End your speech by wishing all, and especially the guests, an interesting day. Introduce the first speaker, and get out of the way. You are their guide, not the reason they came. Did You Know? Though President Eisenhower originally welcomed Fidel Castro to power in public comments, in 1959 he snubbed the Cuban dictator, who had requested a meeting.
