Scheduling with Milestones in Project Management — Episode 16

04:27
Experienced project managers use a milestone as a chance to stop and assess the project’s overall health. At these fixed points, the project manager can assess the work completed to date, the work still in process, and at times, if the project is heading in the right direction. By examining the work completed and how long it took, the project manager can gauge project progress and see if they can still keep to the projected timeline. If there is time, the project manager can do a quick post-mortem on any issues the team encountered, and apply any lessons to moving forward. In Episode 16 you'll learn how to use milestones successfully in your projects! Top Five Best Practices for Developing Your Periodic Benefit Risk Evaluation Report (PBRER)

06:20
Click here to register for free and to view the entire webinar: http://xtalks.com/Periodic-Benefit-Risk-Evaluation-Report-PBRER.ashx?utm_source=Youtube&utm_medium=Teaser&utm_campaign=XTO799_Quintiles Speakers: Dominique Coleman, Director, Safety Aggregate Reporting and Analytics (SARA), Quintiles Carrie Messina, Safety Aggregate Reporting Manager for the SARA group, Quintiles In November 2012, the European Union (EU) mandated use of the ICH-recommended Periodic Benefit Risk Evaluation Report (PBRER) in a new PSUR – responding to the increasing need to understand and manage the post-authorization safety benefit-risk profile of a drug. Adopted in many regions, the main objectives of the PBRER are to: Present a comprehensive and critical analysis of new or emerging information on the risks of a drug; Highlight any new evidence of the potential benefits of a drug; and Allow for the determination of a drug’s holistic benefit-risk profile. Now that both regulators and the industry alike have had almost two years of experience evolving the expectations of how PBRERs should be written and assessed, biopharmaceutical companies must create streamlined processes that will allow them to develop consistent standards for meaningful benefit-risk assessments. During this webinar our presenters will provide five best practices you can use to: 1. Develop useful SOPs, work instructions, checklists and templates that will streamline processes and optimize methods of data collection and analysis for your PBRERs. 2. Overcome some of the more challenging sections of PBRER preparation. 3. Respond to PBRER feedback and requests from Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) and Regulatory Authority. 4. Leverage the modular approach, which encompasses common sections within Development Safety Update Report (DSUR) and Risk Management Plan (RMP). 5. Effectively manage multi-region submission waivers and timelines. Keywords: PBRER, EU regulation

Project Plan Template Walkthrough

33:36
My name is Bill Bowen - I am a college-level project management instructor in Ottawa, Canada. As an aid to my students' assignment to complete a project management plan, I have uploaded this walk-through of the assigned template for the project management plan, with the hope of providing some beneficial approaches, background information and instructions on how to develop each section in the template. My recommended strategy is to use the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as the basis for each section of the template. The video explores this strategy in more detail. I hope that everyone who takes the time to watch this video finds it to be useful in developing their own strategy on how to approach their project management plan. I invite you to check out my YouTube Channel for other project management related videos. © William Bowen original material

✅The best jobs no longer go to the best candidates. Times have changed. They now go to the people with the best strategies. We transformed over 5,000 careers. Join me at LIG and let me show you how yours will be the next career transformed; https://goo.gl/chwjpr Welcome to this week's episode where I make project management simple for you. To make it applicable to the majority of the audience, I am teaching Project Management Institute's (PMI) project management framework. ________________________________________________ Textbooks and frameworks are always boring. So, to make project management more interesting for you, I ran a project to demonstrate what steps to take and when. You won't regret spending 50 minutes to learn the basics of a wonderful practice called project management. You can also download all the templates I used in the session here (no need to register); https://thecareermastery.com/career-tips/project-management-simplified/ Although I strongly recommend you watch the entire session without skipping, for those of you who are just looking for snippets of information, you may find below the index of the video; 03:03 What is a project, program, and portfolio and how are they different from operations? 04:08 Project = Project Life Cycle + Project Management Process 04:43 Project Life Cycle 06:52 Process Groups 09:27 LIG, PMP certification or CAPM certification, which one is right for you? [Hint: I am biased!] 11:53 Process Groups - Initiation 13:06 Process Groups - Initiation - Project Charter 16:50 Process Groups - Initiation - Stakeholder Identification 18:17 Process Groups - Planning 20:30 Process Groups - Planning - Collecting Requirements 22:45 Process Groups - Planning - Defining the Scope 24:41 Process Groups - Planning - Scope Baseline 25:12 Process Groups - Planning - Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) 32:22 Process Groups - Planning - WBS Dictionary & Scope Creep 34:39 Process Groups - Planning - Time Management / Developing a Schedule 36:00 Process Groups - Planning - Gantt Chart 37:38 Process Groups - Planning - Fast Tracking a Project & Project Crashing 38:52 Process Groups - Planning - Cost Management 39:42 Process Groups - Planning - Budget development (for PMP or CAPM takers) 41:02 Process Groups - Executing 42:04 Process Groups - Executing - Gold Plating 43:16 Process Groups - Monitoring and Controlling 45:00 Process Groups - Monitoring and Controlling - Earned Value 47:57 Process Groups - Closing Process Group _______________________________________________________________ What is even a project? It definitely has a sexy tone to it right? Project… I just love the way it sounds. I wonder how cool it must sound in French. Proje… Well, project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique solution. Yeah that’s operations. No Well, the difference between a project and operations is fairly simple. A project ends. So, it’s temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/ or whatever outcome you wanted then you are done. Whereas in operations, it’s on-going and repetitive. You may have also heard about the terms program and portfolio. Let me just quickly explain them here. Program is multiple projects put together. Combined. And Portfolio is similarly. Multiple programs put together. So, it’s project, program, portfolio. Now before I go further, and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To run any project, you need 2 methodologies. The first one is a project life cycle and the second one is project management process. Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss the PMP certification goodbye. It’s absolutely amazing how many content creators in YouTube confuse these two. They are not interchangeable. You cannot afford to confuse a project life cycle with a project management process. Don’t worry I am going to make it very simple for you. Let’s start with Project Life Cycle. Project Life Cycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs. It’s highly customizable. Think of it like this; a human development is a project. So, your life cycle is; 1) Conceiving 2) Birth 3) Childhood 4) Teenage hood. Teenage hood. Is that a word? Teenaging? 5) Adulthood 6) And death Easy stuff right? So, now if it was an IT project. I am not an IT but it would like something like this; High-level design Detailed Design Coding Testing Installation And Turnover This is project life cycle. The term cycle is a bit confusing here. I think. But who knows. This video covers; project management project management institute pmp project management professional certification project life cycle project management PMI managing a project project management fundamentals fundamentals of project management project management for beginners project management course

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Make Better Decisions ✓

24:00
✅Join me and 5,000 others at LIG so I can show you how you can transform your career. Registrations are now open again; https://goo.gl/chwjpr Watch next: One Simple Talk That May Change Your Career and Life: https://youtu.be/R-PAfs_4un8 This week we dive deep on critical thinking and how it applies to problem-solving! Your future is nothing but the outcome of the decisions you make today. You make better decisions today, your future will be more prosperous, you make the wrong ones, then your future will be full of struggles. So, today we are going to talk about critical thinking and how it applies to problem-solving. I’ll give you a weird analogy here. Critical thinking ability is like having infrared goggles and looking at the sky at night. Without it, You look at the space, you see only three things, you see darkness, stars, and sometimes planets. But the moment You put on your infrared goggles then you get to see all these beautiful things that were invisible before. You see giant gas clouds in the galaxy, you see dust, you see all these things that were previously impossible to see. That’s what critical thinking is. It lets you identify the actual problems, the root causes, but also it helps you see the opportunities. Now, critical thinking isn’t only applicable to your work. It’s applicable to every single area of your life. But my channel is all about your career. So, that’s what’ll cover in this video. Now, we need a framework. And the framework starts with Problem Statement. The problem statement is very similar to a project charter. It includes; Goals, as in what are you trying to achieve, your success criteria, as in how will I know I succeeded or failed, your assumptions, timelines, and stakeholders involved. It’s very similar to a project charter. I am actually going to call this Problem Charter. This document is very helpful for two reasons. The second reason being a lot more important than the first. The first reason why it’s very helpful is that when you get engaged in that problem solving mode, you start uncovering a lot of other symptoms, that may be caused by completely other root causes. We are not interested in that at that moment. You will document those, but you are not going to develop solution alternatives and develop action plans for those. Unless there are dependencies. So, it helps you understand your scope, who to deal with, the timelines, it basically keeps everything under control. But to be honest, in my decade long consulting career, I noticed that the biggest help of having such a charter is all about moving through the bureaucracy. Let me explain. When you are going through problem-solving stages, you actually do a lot of work, you summon meetings, you request data from various departments, you request for expertise from consultants, so you are shaking things, you are moving things around. Now, what gives you the power to do it? What gives you the power to call all these people to a meeting room, what gives you the power to ask for certain analytics data from a completely different department? Why should they attend that meeting or give you the data you want? Because they like you and they want to help you? What if they don’t like you. Now if you are a senior employee, you are a manager, director, VP, then fine, of course, everyone will come into the meeting or give you the data you want. But if you are not that senior. Where does your power come from? It comes from that document. The problem charter. Corporate companies aren’t usually very agile. They move slowly and the employees are usually very – they are not lazy but they push back –They don’t want to stop what they are doing and join your little problem-solving brainstorm session and go through your little power point of fishbone analysis. They got their own thing to worry about. So, if you have your problem charter, only a few pages, signed off by a sponsor, someone senior, then you have the power to get the data you want and bring in experts and call for meetings. Ok, now let’s continue; I mean you developed the problem statement, you got your buy-in from someone senior, now, you are off to solve the problem. The 2nd step in your critical thinking towards a problem is identifying the root causes, right? 5 Whys is made famous by Toyota Production System. As the name suggests, you ask WHY WHY WHY until you get to a root cause. Very simple stuff. This video covers; critical thinking critical thinking skills what is critical thinking critical thinking steps deep thinking how to think critically critical thinking and problem solving importance of critical thinking what does critical thinking mean characteristics of a critical thinker how to improve critical thinking problem solving problem solving skills problem solving examples with samples . 1. How to handle unclear requirements in project management | practical tactical tips for managers

04:49
This video provides a clear, real time, practical tips and tactical tips for handling unclear requirements in real-time project for experience project managers and new project managers. Even this can be considered as an interview question for project management interview. Let's look into some tactical tips, to handle unclear requirements in a project. In a poll recently conducted in a recognised project management forum regarding the project challenge, the majority of the project managers acknowledged that unclear requirements are, without a doubt, a top challenge for their real time projects practically. Starting with unclear requirements is like, heading off on a journey without knowing your destination. The most common reason for the project managers to start the project without clear requirements is, Senior Management Pressure. They accept the ambiguous requirement specifications and proceed with project estimations. Eventually the result would be, project gets delayed, cost gets doubled, client's quality expectations are not met, and, in the end, the project manager gets the blame. What would be the best way forward to handle this situation practical? First tactical tip for handling unclear requirements for new and experience project managers is , Make assumptions visible. Yes, That should be the first tactic that I recommend. Second tactical tip for project mangers is, Log a risk. In practical, Record in your risk register that your estimates are based on unconfirmed assumptions. Third recommended tactical tip for handling unclear requirements is, Discuss when in doubt. Fourth tactical recommendation for handling unclear requirements is, Be agile and Go phased You can go for the iterative development life cycle and start with what you have, reaching out to clients for their feedback at every stage of development. Use this feedback to fine tune the requirements, thereby hashing out all uncertainties. Final tactical tip is ,put buffer on estimates. Last, but not least, have a buffer on the estimates, account for requirement changes.

CISSP Exam - Security and Risk Management - Part 1 l ARECyber LLC

04:14
Security and Risk Management The main objective of this domain is to test the candidate’s understanding of risk assessment, risk analysis, data classification and security awareness. You may find some of the points to be vague or incorrect, but for CISSP they hold good. Following are the main concepts with regard to this domain: • Understanding of CIA triad: • Confidentiality: A critical point to note about confidentiality is that it is usually granted with the principle of least privilege. • Integrity: Information should not be modified by unauthorized means. • Availability: This principle states that the services/systems should be up and running to fulfill business needs. • We all speak that security is everyone’s responsibility, which is true, but within an organization, the accountability for ensuring all the protection of all business information falls under the Information Security Officer. It is the duty of the ISO to ensure that all the security policies and guidelines have been defined to meet information security needs. • Concept of Due Care and Due Diligence:. • Wassenaar Agreement: A crucial point to remember about the Wassenaar Agreement is that for the signees it defines an international cryptography agreement. • Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Guidelines (OECD): An important point to note about these guidelines is that they fall under the privacy part and provide all the guidelines for providing privacy to individual information. • The most important aspect of a successful business continuity program is NOT • A well-defined project scope • Available resources • Timeline But “Senior Management Support. “ • The main goal of a Business Impact Analysis is to determine the impact that an unwanted event will have on organization. A BIA exercise defines the criticality of business functions, maximum tolerable downtime (MTD), and available resources to overcome a disruptive event. • Another key point to note about BIA is that the most overlooked step in a BIA exercise is the last step, which is to document results of BIA and presenting recommendations. • Concept of RTO, RPO, and MTD • Concept of Job Rotation and Separation of Duties. • Qualitative Risk Assessment & Quantitative Risk Assessment: Qualitative risk analysis will give results that are not measurable. Risk is usually seen as the product of likelihood and impact. On the other hand, quantitative risk assessment will give results that are measurable. It has a well-defined formula and surely there will be question on this in the exam. • Single Loss Expectance=Asset Value * Exposure Factor • Annualized Loss Expectancy=SLE * annualized rate of occurrence (ARO). • Risk Assignment: Risk avoidance, risk transfer, risk mitigation, risk acceptance. the key point to note about risk transfer is that not all the risk can be transferred. • Access Controls: This is a very important topic from this domain, as some controls will be given, and the question will be to find the type of controls they are. Below are the main categories of access control. • Directive Controls: • Deterrent Controls: • Preventive Controls: Understand the difference between deterrent & preventive controls: Preventive controls are not optional like deterrent controls. • Compensating Controls: • Detective Controls: • Corrective Controls: • Recovery Controls: • All these access controls can be categorized as either Administrative, physical and logical controls. • Penetration Testing Types: It is important to know the following testing types (especially names) • Internal Testing: • Blind Testing: • Double Blind Testing: • Continuous Improvement cycle: Plan-Do-Act-Check (PDCA). • Differences between the following attacks: • Social Engineering Attack • Pretexting Attack • Phishing Attack • Baiting Attack • Tailgating Attack • Understand the implied risks that happen over an acquisition. • Difference between SLA and Assurance: This draws us to the end of Module 1. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of all the topics. However, this presents the topics with high probability of appearing in the exam. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "How To Pass The CISSP" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw8sYsO153s -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Problems like these can be prevented -- or at least greatly reduced -- by spending the time at the beginning of a project to develop a properly-structured WBS that enables project teams to: * Understand the key project deliverables and their detailed components. * Cross-reference the project deliverables between the project WBS, the project schedule, and a WBS dictionary. * Understand the detailed definition of each project deliverable, as well as other information such as how it should be produced. To build a Work Breakdown Structure for your project using Microsoft Word, follow these 4 steps: * Start with the key project deliverables. * Decompose the key deliverables into their detailed components. * Assign unique WBS codes to each deliverable. * Create a WBS dictionary which defines each deliverable. If you follow these four steps to build a WBS for your project, then you should be able to: * Keep better track of critical project deliverables. * Reduce or eliminate any misconceptions about any specific project deliverables. * Feel confident about where to start and how to tackle a large or complex project. -------------------- BACKGROUND -------------------- Project Management author and trainer Tony Zink shares his insights on how to use tools and techniques to get better results on projects. The HIPAA Audits Are Coming! | Healthcare Compliance Training

06:19
The HIPAA Audits Are Coming! Here Are 12 Things The Government Will Be Looking At And Seven Things You Need to Do Right Now…http://starcomplianceservices.com Modified transcript: A few weeks ago, the National Law Review reported that “covered entities” under HIPAA (health providers, health plans or clearinghouses) are now receiving pre-audit screening surveys from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights (OCR). These surveys are part of the selection process for which organizations will be targeted for upcoming audits on their compliance with the HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Standards. Should you be concerned? There are two good reasons why health care providers should be concerned. Back in 2011 and 2012, OCR hired KPMG, one of the world’s largest audit, tax and advisory firms, to develop an audit tool and conduct onsite audits of 115 organizations. KPMG found: 1. 90% of the audited entities were not fully compliant. 2. Health care providers made up 65% of the total organizations audited. 3. Almost 80% of audited health care providers lacked complete or accurate risk assessments. These audits highlighted the fact that smaller organizations struggled with complying with HIPAA, with some organizations totally unaware of some or all of the HIPAA requirements. These new audits will differ in many aspects from the first audit. While the older audit focused on covered entities only, Phase 2 Audits will include business associates and be a combination of comprehensive onsite inspections and “desk audits,” where OCR will determine an organization’s level of HIPAA compliance based on its review of requested documents. If you receive a letter from OCR telling you that your organization has been selected for an audit, you will have only two weeks to respond to the document request. The documents must be current and on time. Late submissions will not be considered. OCR will assess HIPAA compliance solely on the submitted documents. What OCR will request from YOU 1. Recently completed comprehensive risk assessment. 2. Recent management action plan with a reasonable timeline for completion as well as documented remediation activities. 3. A complete inventory of business associates. 4. Documentation that supports the organization’s decision to not implement addressable HIPAA Security implementation standards. 5. An implemented breach notification policy that accurately reflects the Breach Notification Standards and requirements. 6. A compliant and revised Notice of Privacy Practices BEYOND the usual website privacy notice and that reflects the HIPAA Omnibus Final Rule changes. 7. Documentation that demonstrates reasonable and appropriate safeguards for protected health information (PHI) regardless of its form. 8. Documentation that demonstrates that workforce members have received HIPAA training that is necessary or appropriate to perform his/her job duties. 9. An inventory of information system assets, including mobile devices (whether corporate-owned or personal) that have access to PHI. 10. Appropriate encryption technology for systems and software that transmit electronic PHI or a risk assessment that supports the organization's choice not to use encryption. 11. A facility security plan for each physical location that stores or has access to PHI, as well as a security policy that requires a physical security plan. 12. HIPAA privacy and security policies. If OCR identifies major compliance issues, it will open an investigation which may result in settlements and financial penalties. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NOW! In order to prepare for the possibility of a HIPAA audit, you must assess your organization’s HIPAA compliance posture and include the following activities as part of that assessment: 1. Review your organization’s most recently completed comprehensive risk assessment. 2. Ensure that issues identified in your organization’s most recent risk assessment and prioritized in its management action plan have been addressed and documented. 3. Maintain a complete inventory of business associates. 4. Ensure that your organization documents its decision to not implement addressable Security implementation standards. 5. Demonstrate that your organization has tested its incident response and breach notification processes. 6. Ensure that your organization has up-to-date and recently reviewed HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification policies and procedures that reflect the latest HIPAA Omnibus Final Rule changes. 7. Engage experts to ensure your organization’s compliance. To not do the above is playing with fire.

The PRINCE2 2017 Methodology - A Full Lifecycle overview from Starting Up (SU) to Closing (CP)

01:00:21
Please note that this video was recorded close to the new version being released The differences are: - Strategy Documents - (Risk, Quality, Communications) renamed to Management Approaches - The Configuration MS now called Change Control Approach - The Benefits Review Plan - renamed to Benefits Management Approach Get the eBook, "PRINCE2 in a Nutshell", that guides you through a project through the PRINCE2 "lens". What is different about this eBook compared to others? There are the links embedded through the book that take you to videos which explain the particular topic in more detail. So if you are reading the section that takes a look at Business Options, click on the link to watch the detailed video explaining the topic. Here is a link for an overview - http://bit.ly/P2Nutshell-Chpt1 When you want to obtain the eBook the link below will take you to the website with the PayPal option and the eBook will download directly after. http://bit.ly/SPMeBooks A full 1 hour overview of PRINCE2 from Mandate to Closure. Discusses the relevance of activities, roles, docs and actions as we go. Enough to be really prepared for the course, should you wish to attend one, and certainly to understand the Why, What and How of the approach and that it works... when used properly For a full image of the new life cycle follow this link: http://bit.ly/P2-2017ProcessMap For more details on some of the outputs, (business case), techniques and actions please see some other videos on this channel. Also go to the Course Platform where you will find a series of videos on these subjects - There are some introduction videos on the channel that will give you an overview of what there is on the platform. The video looks at getting the project started with the activities and any documents recommended and take you up to the point at the end of Initiating a Project and being ready (hopefully) to kick the deliver part of the project off in earnest. Run the plan! The message is that we need to start with a broad yet formal understanding of the "Why, What and How" of the project in "Starting Up a Project" and build on the that with more detail through "Initiating a Project". At the end of "Starting Up a Project" the next step is to go to "Directing a Project" (which is where the Project Board function for direction and decision) to "Request Initiate a Project" and kicks off this Process. Note that even though the Project Executive is on board from Starting Up a Project, it is only when "Starting Up a Project" is complete and the Project Brief is ready along with the Initiating Stage Plan, does "Directing a Project" start. "Step at a time" - "Detail builds with each step" so we can keep in control and by that I mean from a "Governance" perspective, so we do NOT have a "run-away train". In "Initiating a Project" we look at Planning as this is really the key activity here. We need to understand the products (product breakdown) so then we can prioritize, estimate and then Plan. This helps us update all the project documents we started in "Starting Up a Project" in order to provide the business with the best information they need to make an "informed decision" as to whether the project is worth the investment or not. The underlying point here is to understand and agree the project "Scope"! Should we get the "Green Light" at the end of "Initiating a Project" we then move into the "Delivery" part, "Controlling a Stage" and "Managing Product Delivery". Now for the product build part, there are some separate videos that that you through "Scrum" and how the core of the "Product Deliver" approach, Iterative Development, and using "Timeboxes" (Sprints in Scrum) are used to control ID. The session also explains how to use this approach in a project as there needs to be some changes! We also look at handling Risk and Issues, with escalation and the "Exception" route. Finally, the video takes you through a recap of the previous videos and then leads into "Closing a Project", with a look a both aspect, normal and premature closure. Please note: this is not a course in itself, its a "walkthrough" to provide you with a good and reasonably detailed understanding of the approach. PRINCE2 is a guidance and a framework to guide you through the project. The full accredited course can be found on http://www.d-p-c.net/courses.html To follow this and other courses please go to http://www.thesustainablepm.thinkific.com You will see the course card on the Landing Page. All the courses are run as a "Classroom" with the details drawn on a whiteboard throughout the explanation For a full image of the new life cycle follow this link: http://bit.ly/P2-2017ProcessMap PRINCE2®, MSP®, M_o_R® and MoP® are registered trademarks of AXELOS Limited.

Establishing a Risk Management Framework for Clinical Trial Conduct & Oversight Trailer

06:11
As many organizations move to, or contemplate, a risk-based approach to trial conduct and quality management, the published regulatory agency documents and industry think tank publications fall short in providing sponsors, CROs, and clinical vendors the framework—a comprehensive, systematic, structured approach to implementing risk management. This web seminar will provide an overview of a risk management reference model for use that has been adopted by other industries and is referenced in the FDA Guidance of 2013, “Oversight of Clinical Investigations — A Risk- Based Approach to Monitoring.”

Correcting the course of capital projects

04:30
Learn more at PwC.com - http://pwc.to/163nMye Neil Broadhead, of PwC's UK Capital Projects & Infrastructure team, discusses with Richard Abadie, global Capital Projects & Infrastructure leader for PwC, how planning ahead can help capital project owners avoid time and cost overruns down the road. Many projects that have fallen behind schedule and budget can be put back on track, but without close control, stakeholders may not realise the severity of delays and cost overruns. According to PwC experience, the three key elements of the control environment are proper transparency of controls, clear accountability of responsibilities, and a meaningful audit trail of information to make sure people are performing their required roles effectively. An effective risk management process is also critical as it enables project managers to monitor risks and identify when they need to put a mitigation plan in place to actively manage them. Neil calls upon his recent experience in the Middle East to explain the PwC point of view on troubled projects.
