Significance of red wine in lowering LDL levels - Dr. Durgaprasad Reddy B

Lot of people say LDL will be lowered if you take red wine, I feel this is myth. Whenever you take alcohol your coronaries are dilated. So you have chance of getting into hypertension. Any one getting hypertension got a risk of heart attack. Those people taking red wine or any type of alcohol , alcohol is a dilator of arteries. Once arteries dilate you can get into hypertensive. And my advice is no red wine or alcohol.

Could Red Wine Really Reduce The Risk Of Heart Disease - ABC News

http://mhlnk.com/ACFD158E Get Your Pack Straight to Your Door Today! Could Red Wine and Resveratrol: Be Good For Your Heart? YES! Red wine, in moderation, has long been thought of as heart healthy. The alcohol and certain substances in red wine called antioxidants may help prevent heart disease by increasing levels of "good" cholesterol and protecting against artery damage. While the news about red wine might sound great if you enjoy a glass of red wine with your evening meal, doctors are wary of encouraging anyone to start drinking alcohol. That's because too much alcohol can have many harmful effects on your body. Still, many doctors agree that something in red wine appears to help your heart. It's possible that antioxidants, such as flavonoids or a substance called resveratrol, have heart-healthy benefits. How is red wine heart healthy? Red wine seems to have even more heart-healthy benefits than other types of alcohol, but it's possible that red wine isn't any better than beer, white wine or liquor for heart health. There's still no clear evidence that red wine is better than other forms of alcohol when it comes to possible heart-healthy benefits. Antioxidants in red wine called polyphenols may help protect the lining of blood vessels in your heart. A polyphenol called resveratrol is one substance in red wine that's gotten attention. Resveratrol in red wine Resveratrol might be a key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, reduces "bad" cholesterol and prevents blood clots. Most research on resveratrol has been done on animals, not people. Research in mice given resveratrol suggests that the antioxidant might also help protect them from obesity and diabetes, both of which are strong risk factors for heart disease. However, those findings were reported only in mice, not in people. In addition, to get the same dose of resveratrol used in the mice studies, a person would have to drink over 60 liters of red wine every day. Some research shows that resveratrol could be linked to a reduced risk of inflammation and blood clotting, both of which can lead to heart disease. More research is needed before it's known whether resveratrol was the cause for the reduced risk

3 Weird Tips on Lowering BAD LDL Cholesterol and Increase GOOD HDL Cholesterol

02:20
Do you want to lower your cholesterol? In this short video, I share three unusual ways of improving your cholesterol levels naturally. Links to all the studies and further info on improving your cholesterol naturally, so you may be able to avoid medication altogether: http://bit.ly/cholesterol-heart-attacks You're unlikely to hear the tips in this video from a doctor. Yet they can be highly effective at getting your cholesterol to a healthy level. In fact, one of them was found in a study to lower the heart disease risk for 9 out of 10 people. My name is Gareth Churchill and I’m natural health researcher for Erudite Lifestyle magazine. We report on the latest breakthroughs in alternative medicine as well as expose the bogus claims. When it comes to cholesterol, new advances are being made all the time on how to balance your cholesterol and lower your risk of heart disease naturally, and avoid spending a lifetime on pharmaceutical drugs with possible side effects. My first unusual tip is to eat FAT. That's right, I said FAT. But not any fat. I mean healthy fats that can help boost your GOOD HDL cholesterol. This includes fatty fish, olives, flax seeds and avocados. My next tip is to drink ALCOHOL. Or to be precise, one glass of red wine a day. Again, research suggests it can raise HDL cholesterol by as much as 15% and help get your cholesterol to a healthy ratio. My final tip is to try CHELATION therapy. This was first developed to remove heavy metals from the arteries of factory workers. However, doctors were amazed to discover it can help flush out cholesterol plaque as well, and has been found to lower the risk of heart disease for 9 out of 10 people. In this short video I’m only scratching the surface on how to get your cholesterol to a healthy ratio and lower your risk of a heart attack or stroke. On the Erudite Lifestyle website we explain in detail how to flush toxic cholesterol plaque from your arteries, to lower your blood pressure and improve your all round health. We also reveal why cholesterol may not be the #1 cause of heart attacks at all. And what you need to ask your doctor to check for instead. What’s more, you can get our FREE report on 7 Brain Foods for a smarter, faster and clearer mind. Sounds interesting? Then click the link below. Magical drink to reduce cholesterol in 2 weeks. With Only Half Cup A Day You Will Lower Your Cholesterol and Lose Belly Fat Like Crazy!!! With Only 3 Tablespoons A Day You Will Lower Your Cholesterol and Lose Belly Fat Like Crazy!!! Cholesterol is a fatty substance made by your body and found in certain foods. Your body needs some cholesterol in order to function properly, but having too much (high cholesterol) puts you at risk for having a heart attack or stroke. The extra cholesterol that isn’t used by your body builds up in blood vessel walls, causing blockages. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), having high cholesterol doubles your risk of heart disease. Total cholesterol = LDL + HDL + Triglycerides  LDL (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, also called "bad" cholesterol) HDL (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, also called "good" cholesterol) Triglycerides (fats carried in the blood from the food we eat. Excess calories, alcohol, or sugar in the body are converted into triglycerides and stored in fat cells throughout the body.) The good news is that lifestyle changes are effective in helping you reduce cholesterol levels. They’re also fairly straightforward and can be done at any age. Exercise: Physical activity helps you lose weight and boosts your HDL levels. Aim for 30 to 60 minutes a day of moderate cardio. Eat more fiber: Replace white breads and pastas with whole grains. Eat healthy fats: Olive oil, avocado, and nuts all have fats that won’t raise your LDL. Limit cholesterol intake: Reduce the amount of high-saturated fat foods like cheese, whole milk, and high-fat red meats. Quit smoking. It’s important to remember that everyone is different. Family history and whether or not you have other conditions, such as diabetes, plays a role in your individual risks. Talk to your doctor about your cholesterol levels and ask what he or she thinks your numbers should be. how to reduce cholesterol quickly how to lower cholesterol without medication lower cholesterol diet how to lower your cholesterol in 2 days supplements to lower cholesterol how to reduce cholesterol naturally home remedies foods to avoid with high cholesterol how to control cholesterol in indian diet how to prevent heart attack with food how to prevent heart attack naturally how to avoid heart attack while sleeping how to prevent heart attack when alone how to prevent a heart attack while it's happening how to prevent heart attack at night how to prevent heart attack from happening how to avoid heart attack symptoms how to prevent a stroke naturally foods that prevent stroke how to stop a stroke in progress how to prevent a stroke after a mini stroke how to prevent a stroke aspirin how to prevent a stroke or heart attack how to prevent a stroke from happening again stroke prevention diet To view more, click here: https://goo.gl/ONjJau SUBSCRIBE: Click here: https://goo.gl/wsOEBM Connect with me on: Email: muskaanhamad@gmail.com Muskaan Science Academy: https://goo.gl/ndG6eG Google Plus: https://goo.gl/6bNOp4 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/muskaan.hamad Blog: http://beautyandmakeuptips2016.blogspot.com/ Tumblr: https://naturalhomeremedies.tumblr.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/muskaanhamad/ Vine: Search "Muskaan Hamad" on vine! 15 Foods That Reduce Your Heart Attack Risk by 80%

13:11
Do you want to clean your blood vessels? How to decrease the risk of heart attacks in the future? Are you ready to improve your overall well-being? Here are 15 food products that can take care of your heart and prevent heart diseases. See What Happens To Your Body When You Drink A Pint Of Beer Everyday

03:25
Feel guilty about drinking a beer or two? Don’t feel guilty. Contrary to what you might expect, moderate beer consumption is actually good for you. Science has shown that beer can bring many surprising health benefits even though it’s usually perceived as unhealthy. However, remember the key to good health is moderation like a pint a day. Binge drinking on a Friday night will do way more damage and it would be unwise to justify poor habits with false science. So Here are some remarkable and surprising beer benefits that might change your perception of the drink. 1.It can help prevent kidney stones A study conducted in Finland established that moderate daily consumption of beer can reduce the risk of developing kidney stones by 40%. This health benefit is attributed to beer’s high water content (about 93%) that helps flush harmful toxins out of the body and keep the kidneys working properly. Also, compounds in hops used in brewing help slow the release of calcium from bones, which in turn prevents build up of lost calcium in the kidney in the form of stones. 2.It can help reduce risk of heart disease One eye-opening study conducted at Italy’s Fondazion di Ricerca e Cura found that people who drank a pint of beer daily had a 31% reduced chance of heart disease. This heart protecting power of beer stems largely from beer’s natural antioxidants called phenols. However, the study also showed risk of heart disease increased in people who consumed higher amounts of beer. 3.It can help minimize risk of cancer Beer contains an important antioxidant known as xanthohumol. Xanthohumol is known to have powerful anti cancer properties that help fend off cancer causing enzymes in the body. Specifically, moderate beer consumption helps prevent a certain chemical reaction that can lead to prostate cancer in men. Beer has also been shown to reduce the chances of getting breast cancer in women. 4.It can help reduce cholesterol levels If you’d like an unorthodox method for cutting your cholesterol levels, indulging in moderate beer consumption may be the way to go. The barley used in brewing of beer contains a type of soluble fiber known as beta glucans that has been shown to help in lowering cholesterol levels. 5.Reduce risk of stroke. Study discussed on Web-MD found occasional beer drinkers had a 12 percent decreased risk of ischemic stroke, compared with nondrinkers. On the flip side, heavy drinkers have a 33% increased risk of ischemic stroke. 6.Lower blood pressure. If you have a choice between beer, wine, or a cocktail, choose beer. Men's Health says a Harvard study found beer drinkers are less likely to develop high blood pressure than are wine and liquor drinkers. So now you have a reason to drink a pint everyday, remember the key to reaping these amazing health benefits of beer is moderate consumption. Overindulgence in beer and other alcoholic drinks can be disastrous to your health. 8 Reasons To Love Red Wine! Check out also the top 2-3 health risks of drinking too much wine! www.klickmo.com/redwine www.klickmo.com/longlife Any hardworking gal knows that kicking back with a girlfriend and a glass of red wine is a fabulous way to de-stress. The best part? Your red-wine habit also happens to come with some happy health benefits, such as protecting your ticker and even slimming your waistline. Check out these eight reasons why winding down with a glass of vino is a good call all around. Healthy study participants who consumed the same grape supplement found in red wine saw their LDL, or "bad cholesterol," levels decrease by 9% among healthy. Participants with high cholesterol experienced a drop of 12%. What's the big deal? Excess LDL ends up getting deposited in arterial walls and forming plaque, which causes arteries to stiffen and blood pressure to rise, ultimately leading to heart attacks, says Arthur Agatson, MD, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Miami and author of The South Beach Heart Program. On top of lowering bad cholesterol, polyphenols—the antioxidants in red wine—can help keep blood vessels flexible and reduce the risk of unwanted clotting, says John Folts, PhD, a professor of cardiovascular medicine and nutrition at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. "They're nearly as effective as aspirin," says Folts. But be careful: Chronic heavy drinking damages the heart, so, as with most things, moderation is key.

Most of us who realize that alcohol is a vice, would not even consider for a minute a strong spirit like tequila could have health benefits. Apart from ruining your health, by causing a number of diseases like obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, digestive problems, liver ailments, liver damage, kidney damage and even death, alcohol can also become addictive. Drinking minimal quantities of certain types of alcohol, like wine and brandy is known to have a number of positive health benefits. For example, red wine is known to prevent rapid cell ageing and heart ailments, while brandy is known to reduce cold and cough. Recently, a group of researchers have found that even tequila has a number of health benefits, when had in small amounts, just once a month. Tequila is a spirit which originated in Mexico and is made from the blue agave plant. Let us see what some of the health benefits of tequila are, here. 1. Aids Weight Loss As tequila can boost your metabolic rate, it can help burn body fat faster and aid weight loss, effectively. 2. Improves Digestion It is said that taking a shot of tequila, after a very heavy meal (once in a while), can stimulate the production of healthy digestive juices and aid digestion. 3. Natural Probiotic Tequila helps the production and growth of healthy gut bacteria, just like yoghurt does, thus acting as a natural probiotic that can improve your overall health. 4. Treats Osteoporosis Tequila is known to allow your body to absorb the calcium in foods in a much better way, thus strengthening your bones and reducing conditions like osteoporosis. 5. LOWER TRIGLYCERIDES , 10 Steps to Lower Triglycerides

10:34
LOWER TRIGLYCERIDES , 10 Steps to Lower Triglycerides. When Triglycerides Inch Up Maybe you've put on a few extra pounds. Now your yearly blood work comes back showing high triglycerides. These fats are an important source of energy in your body, but at high levels they can hurt your heart. Like cholesterol, triglyceride troubles can lead to clogged arteries and possibly to a heart attack or stroke. Luckily, there are many ways to lower your triglycerides. Look at How You Eat That creamy latte, grilled cheese sandwich, or scoop of ice cream before bed can all lead to high triglycerides. If you often eat more calories than you burn - like many of us do - your triglycerides may start to inch up. The worst offenders are sugary foods and foods high in saturated fat, like cheese, whole milk, and red meat. Say No to Sugar If you have high triglycerides, get your sweet tooth in check. Simple sugars, especially fructose (a sugar often found in fruit), raise triglycerides. Watch out for foods made with added sugar, including soda, baked goodies, candy, most breakfast cereals, flavored yogurt, and ice cream. Uncover Hidden Sugar Learn to spot added sugars on food labels. Words to look for include brown sugar, corn syrup, words ending in "ose" (dextrose, fructose, glucose, lactose, maltose, sucrose), fruit juice concentrates, cane syrup, cane sugar, honey, malt sugar, molasses, and raw sugar. Focus on Fiber Swap out foods made with refined white flour, and bring on the whole grains. You'll eat more fiber, which helps lower your triglycerides. For breakfast, have a bowl of steel-cut oats with berries instead of a bagel or sweet cereal. At lunchtime, try a salad loaded with veggies and garbanzo beans. Choose brown rice or quinoa at dinner instead of potatoes or pasta. Eat the Right Fat A little fat is good for you, when it's the healthy kind. Choose foods that naturally contain mono- and polyunsaturated fats: avocados, walnuts, chicken without the skin, canola oil, and olive oil. Avoid trans fats, which are found in many processed foods, French fries, crackers, cakes, chips, and stick margarine. Don't eat much saturated fat, found in red meat, ice cream, cheese, and buttery baked goods. Choose Fish Instead of Red Meat The same omega-3 fats that are good for your heart can help lower your triglycerides, too. Next time you eat out, get the fish instead of a burger or steak. Eat fish at least twice a week. Salmon, mackerel, herring, lake trout, albacore tuna, and sardines are all high in omega-3s. Eat Your Nuts and Greens Other good sources of omega-3s: Walnuts Flaxseeds Spinach Kale Brussels sprouts Salad greens Beans Do You Need an Omega-3 Supplement? Ask your doctor. Capsules can give you a concentrated amount of omega-3s, but not everyone needs them. You may be able to lower triglycerides by making healthier choices in your life. And high doses of omega-3s can cause bleeding in some people. If your doctor says it's OK, look for capsules with EPA and DHA, two powerful types of omega 3 Cut Back on Alcohol. Do you unwind with wine, beer, or a cocktail? Switch to sparkling water with a squeeze of lime juice. Or try a tangy herbal iced-tea blend that tastes great without added sugar. Excess drinking is one cause of high triglycerides. That means more than one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men. For some people, even small amounts of alcohol can raise triglycerides. Lose Weight Extra weight, particularly around your waist, raises triglycerides. One of the biggest things you can do to bring your levels down is to take it off. It doesn't have to be dramatic, either. Get Moving If you're carrying around a few extra pounds, starting regular workouts can get you in shape and lower your triglycerides at the same time. Aim for 30 minutes of exercise five days a week, and be sure to break a sweat and get your heart pumping. You can cut your triglycerides by 20% to 30%. If you're new to exercise, try a dance class, go for a swim, or take a brisk walk each day. When Habits Need a Helping Hand If lifestyle changes haven't helped enough, your doctor may suggest adding a prescription medicine. Fibrates, niacin, statins, and high-dose fish oil are a few of the options. Your doctor will look at all your blood fats -- triglycerides and all types of cholesterol -- to decide the best way to protect your heart.

How to Lower Cholesterol Naturally - Foods That Lower Cholesterol Naturally

02:40
How to Lower Cholesterol Naturally - Foods That Lower Cholesterol Naturally If you're already eating plenty of the following foods that lower cholesterol naturally, keep up the good work! But if your idea of eating well is to opt for the "buttered popcorn" instead of the "extra buttered popcorn," consider adding these healthy choices to your diet. Oats If you're looking to lower your cholesterol, the key may be simply changing your morning meal. Switching up your breakfast to contain two servings of oats can lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol by 5.3% in only 6 weeks. The key to this cholesterol buster is beta-glucan, a substance in oats that absorbs LDL, which your body then excretes. Banish bland oats with this dessert-worthy ginergersnap oatmeal recipe. Red wine Scientists are giving us yet another reason to drink to our health. It turns out that high-fiber Tempranillo red grapes, used to make red wine like Rioja, may actually significantly lower cholesterol levels. A study conducted by the department of metabolism and nutrition at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain found that when individuals consumed the same grape supplement found in red wine, their LDL levels decreased by 9%. In addition, those who had high cholesterol going into the study saw a 12% drop in LDL. So go ahead and drink a glass for that cholesterol-lowering benefit. Salmon & fatty fish Omega-3 fats are one of the natural health wonders of the world and have been shown to ward off heart disease, dementia, and many other diseases. Now these fatty acids can add yet another health benefit to their repertoire: lowering cholesterol. According to research from Loma Linda University, replacing saturated fats with omega-3s like those found in salmon, sardines, and herring can raise good cholesterol as much as 4%. (Here's everything you need to know about buying the healthiest fish possible.) Nuts If you're looking for a snack food that lowers cholesterol levels, research shows that you should get cracking! In a study published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, people who noshed on 1.5 oz of whole walnuts 6 days a week for 1 month lowered their total cholesterol by 5.4% and LDL cholesterol by 9.3%. Almonds and cashews are other good options. However, while nuts are heart healthy, they're also high in calories, so practice portion control—1.5 oz is about a shot glass and a half. Use a shot glass to measure out your portion so you can see exactly how it looks. (Here's what happens if you eat too many nuts.) Tea While tea has become well known for its cancer-fighting antioxidants, it is also a great defense against high LDL cholesterol levels. According to research conducted with the USDA, black tea has been shown to reduce blood lipids by up to 10% in only 3 weeks. These findings were concluded in a larger study of how tea may also help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. (Here's how to make the perfect cup of tea every time.) Beans Beans, beans—they really are good for your heart. Researchers at Arizona State University Polytechnic found that adding ½ cup of beans to soup lowers total cholesterol, including LDL, by up to 8%. The key to this heart-healthy food is its abundance of fiber, which has been shown to slow the rate and amount of absorption of cholesterol in certain foods. Try black, kidney, or pinto beans; each supplies about one-third of your daily fiber needs. Chocolate Yes! This powerful antioxidant helps build HDL ("good") cholesterol levels. In a 2007 study published in AJCN, participants who were given cocoa powder had a 24% increase in HDL levels over 12 weeks, compared with a 5% increase in the control group. Remember to choose the dark or bittersweet kind. Compared to milk chocolate, it has more than 3 times as many antioxidants, which prevent blood platelets from sticking together and may even keep arteries unclogged. Margarine Switching to a margarine with plant sterols, such as Promise activ or Benecol, could help lower cholesterol. Plant sterols are compounds that reduce cholesterol absorption; a study published in AJCN found that women who had a higher plant sterol–based diet were able to lower total cholesterol by 3.5%. Garlic Aside from adding zing to almost any dish, garlic makes the list of foods that lower cholesterol; it's also been found to prevent blood clots, reduce blood pressure, and protect against infections. Now research finds that it helps stop artery-clogging plaque at its earliest stage by keeping cholesterol particles from sticking to artery walls. Try for 2 to 4 fresh cloves a day. Olive oil Good news: This common cooking ingredient can help your health. Olive oil is full of heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), which lower LDL cholesterol—and have the welcome side effect of trimming belly fat. Use it to make your own salad dressings, marinate chicken and fish, or roast vegetables.

FOODS FOR A HEALTHY HEART

FOODS FOR A HEALTHY HEART 1. Red Wine: And last, but not the least, ditch your beer and whiskey and say cheers with wine. Antioxidants in red wine called polyphenols may help protect the lining of blood vessels in your heart. 2. Apples: An apple a day keeps the doctor away: a very clichéd saying but very true. An apple also makes the perfect snack for someone who is always on the go. Plus it is available in different varieties, so you might not get bored of it soon. Add a few chopped pieces of apple in your Greek salad making it healthier 3. Almonds: Have you been avoiding nuts for the oil they contain? If yes, then bring it back to your plate because this oil is actually healthy for your heart. The Vitamin E that almonds contain helps in keeping your cholesterol level under control. Like apples, almonds are also high on fibre and Vitamin content. Again a perfect 5 PM snack. Add to your heart's health by eating 4–5 soaked almonds each morning with your breakfast 4. Soy: Soy is not a very tasty option but it's really good for your heart. Soy protein can prevent you from having a stroke. It is also a great replacement for the red meat that you've been trying to cut on. This will help in reducing the intake of saturated fats. Add a few chunks of soy to your rice or stir fry it with your veggies. You can also use soy milk as a substitute for regular milk, for making milk shakes and with your morning cereal 5. Berries: Strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, mulberry, huckleberry, gooseberry and all the other berries are a pack load of vitamin C. With so many flavours you can possibly never get bored of eating berries. Apart from vitamin C they also contain calcium and beta-carotene. These fibrous fruits are perfect with breakfast oats or with yogurt. Out of all these berries blueberry has the most nutrients that will keep your heart healthy 6. Salmon: Your heart will love you for the fresh salmon you have and so will your taste buds. Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids. This will help your blood from clotting. It is suggested that you should eat fish (sea food) atleast twice a week for a healthy heart. Opt for grilled fish and avoid spicy seasoning. You can also add a dash of lime to it for an excellent flavour and add it to your green salad 7. Tomatoes: Tomatoes contain lycopene (a phytochemical) that is known to lower cholesterol, cut risk of colorectal cancer and heart disease. Studies show that men who regularly eat food rich in lycopene have lesser chances of developing prostate cancer and heart disease. You might want to start enjoying tomato sauce as it has more lycopene. Cooked tomato works much better on your body that raw ones. So start adding it to your vegetables and salads. Tomato is also known to improve memory and other signs of aging 8. Green leafy vegetables and olive oil: Green leafy vegetables and olive oil are vital for maintaining a healthy heart. One serving of leafy greens a day can be key to preventing heart disease. So add them in plenty to your daily diet! 9. Whole Grain: Starting the day with whole-grain cereal may lower the risk of heart failure in the long run, as whole grains protect against coronary heart disease. 10. Oats: Start your day with a bowl of oats! Oats are full of fibre, omega-3 fatty acids, folate, and potassium, and can help lower cholesterol levels and keep arteries clear. 11. Brown rice: May be a better choice over white because it has an ingredient that protects against high blood pressure and atherosclerosis. It is also a good source of fibre and helps lower cholesterol levels in the body.

Please Click here To Get Program : https://lowercholesterol.healyourpain247.com Lower Cholesterol - 7 Foods to Help Lower LDL . It’s no secret that certain foods can help you lower your LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, which causes a buildup of plaque in the arteries that leads to heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke. But what may surprise you is that many of these foods are delicious and easy to incorporate into your everyday meals without sacrificing flavor or fun. Let go to these 7 foods : 1/ Chocolate . Dark chocolate contains flavonoids, antioxidants that help lower LDL levels. Just make sure to eat in moderation, as chocolate is also high in saturated fat and sugar. You can also use dark, unsweetened cocoa powder in your cooking to get similar heart-healthy effects. 2/ Avocados . There’s more to avocados than just guacamole. They give you oleic acid, which helps lower the bad cholesterol in your bloodstream. Avocado oil, which has a subtle, sweet flavor, can also be used in place of other oils in cooking. 3/ Tea . Both black and green teas contain powerful antioxidants that may reduce cholesterol levels. Green tea typically contains more of these antioxidant powerhouses, as it is made from unfermented leaves and is less processed. 4/ Wine . Red wine contains resveratrol, a substance found in the red grape skin, which may prevent damage to blood vessels by reducing the risk of blood clots and lowering LDL. Drinking too much alcohol can cause a host of other health issues, however; so while a glass of red wine at dinner is fine, don’t overdo it. 5/ Nuts. Nuts are high in polyunsaturated fatty acids, so almonds, walnuts, or pistachios can help reduce your LDL levels. Try sprinkling them on your salad, or eat them right out of hand as a snack. Just be sure to choose the low-salt option, and keep it to about 1.5 ounces a day -- nuts are also high in calories . 6/ Fruit . Pears and apples have a lot of pectin, which is a type of fiber that can lower cholesterol. So do citrus fruits like oranges and lemons. Berries are also high in fiber. 7/ Vegetables . Most vegetables are high in fiber and low in calories. Eggplant and okra contain high amounts of soluble fiber. Eggplants are also high in antioxidants. But any kind of vegetables will give you fiber and nutrients that are good for you. Beside these foods , do you know one secret food can help to lower your cholesterol easily ? ChefMD® Dr. John La Puma - What Foods Will Lower High Cholesterol

02:01
Hi, I’m Dr. John La Puma. Thanks for coming to the ChefMD® Video Blog from ChefMD®.com and the ChefMD® Question of the Week which comes from Nancy C. in Louisville, Kentucky who writes: Dear Dr. La Puma, My husband just received his results from his cholesterol check. It came back really high. I’d like to know what kinds of food I can make for him to help him lower his cholesterol. He doesn’t want to be on medicine and would like to first change his diet. Please help! Nancy, I don’t blame him that’s a good idea. A lot of people don’t want to get on medicine to lower their cholesterol. The good news is you can lower your LDL with what you eat very effectively. I have in front of me – nuts. Nuts of all kinds – Brazil nuts, pecans, cashews, almonds. Let’s see. This is a marcona almond. Each one of these has been shown to lower LDL or lousy cholesterol. It is amazing. So is flax meal, so have some special margarines, Benecol and Take Control, so have all high fiber foods that are high in soluble fiber. Oats are actually just perfect – especially steel cut oats. There is even some interesting evidence for cinnamon. The foods that raise bad cholesterol, those with saturated or trans fats, full-fat cheeses, full fat meats, butter, cream, pastry. Trans- fat foods- almost anything that is deep fried unfortunately has trans-fat. And to raise your healthy cholesterol - red wine and omega 3 rich fish. Your husband can do this and many of my patients have in Santa Barbara and those who write us at www.chefmd.com. I hope to answer your question next week.
