This is a really great plant that is increasingly available in regular plant nurseries because it's just that cool. The flavor and fragrance is exquisite. Pineapple sage is a salvia (Salvia Elegans), a native plant of Mexico. Here at Fresh Bites Daily, we love all salvias and California offers us many native salvias to have fun with (and a host of hybrids that make lovely additions to the garden). The herb hillside we show in the pineapple sage video has both lavender and sage, in a growing collection of native and hybrid salvias.
