Early Warning Signs of Pancreatic Cancer

Early Warning Signs of Pancreatic Cancer Diabetes, especially if it comes on suddenly. Recently, the Mayo Clinic published startling research showing that 40 percent of pancreatic cancer patients had been diagnosed with diabetes one to two years before discovering they had a pancreatic tumor. Researchers believe the diabetes is caused by tumors that simply haven't been detected yet. The problem is, diabetes is very common, and the majority of diabetes isn't pancreatic cancer, so doctors are trying to develop screening tools to tell the difference. Right now, they say family history is an important clue. If you're diagnosed with diabetes that seems to come on suddenly and you have no family history of diabetes, bring this to your doctor's attention and ask for further screening for pancreatic cancer. Yellowing of the eyes or skin. Even a small pancreatic tumor can block the bile duct in the head of the pancreas, causing bile to build up. This causes jaundice. Itchy skin, palms, and soles of feet. A little-known side-effect of jaundice is itchy hands and feet. It's due to a skin reaction to the bilirubin, the yellowish brown liver chemical that causes jaundice. Lack of appetite. An Italian study found that six to eight months before being diagnosed with pancreatic tumors, patients reported a sudden drop in their appetite and a tendency to feel full after eating very little. Changes in taste. In the same Italian study, some of the patients surveyed said they'd suddenly lost their taste for coffee, wine, and smoking. In fact, they said, they felt "disgust" for the smell and taste of coffee and alcohol. Abdominal pain. Pancreatic cancer sufferers remember this pain as a gnawing pain, rather than a sharp cramp or ache, and it radiates toward the back. A characteristic clue: the pain goes away when you lean forward. An enlarged gall bladder. The same blockage of the bile duct that causes jaundice can also cause an enlarged gallbladder, as the bile builds up behind the duct. The good news is that an enlarged gallbladder can be seen on imaging tests, and it may even be possible for a doctor to feel it during a physical exam. Pale, floating, smelly stools. If a pancreatic tumor prevents digestive enzymes from reaching the intestine, the result is an inability to digest fatty foods. So you end up with loose, smelly "floaters" as a result of the excess fat. Doctors say this symptom, in particular, can be an early clue and is too often overlooked. Dark, tarry stools. Bleeding in the upper intestines causes this symptom. Sudden, unexplained weight loss. Weight loss is not always, as many people mistakenly believe, a sign of advanced cancer that's spread to the liver. It can also happen because a lack of pancreatic enzymes is causing fat to pass through the body undigested. New videos everyday! 10 Early Warning Signs of Pancreatic Cancer 1. Diabetes, especially if it comes on suddenly. 2. Yellowing of the eyes or skin. Even a small pancreatic tumor can block the bile duct in the head of the pancreas, causing bile to build up. This causes jaundice. 3. Itchy skin, palms, and soles of feet. A little-known side-effect of jaundice is itchy hands and feet. It's due to a skin reaction to the bilirubin, the yellowish brown liver chemical that causes jaundice. 4. Lack of appetite. An Italian study found that six to eight months before being diagnosed with pancreatic tumors, patients reported a sudden drop in their appetite and a tendency to feel full after eating very little. 5. Changes in taste. In the same Italian study, some of the patients surveyed said they'd suddenly lost their taste for coffee, wine, and smoking. In fact, they said, they felt "disgust" for the smell and taste of coffee and alcohol. 6. Abdominal pain. Pancreatic cancer sufferers remember this pain as a gnawing pain, rather than a sharp cramp or ache, and it radiates toward the back. A characteristic clue: the pain goes away when you lean forward. 7. 8. 9. Dark, tarry stools. Bleeding in the upper intestines causes this symptom. 10. Sudden, unexplained weight loss. Weight loss is not always, as many people mistakenly believe, a sign of advanced cancer that's spread to the liver. It can also happen because a lack of pancreatic enzymes is causing fat to pass through the body undigested. What do you do if you're worried about any of these symptoms? Document all symptoms, and report them to your doctor in as much detail as possible. If your doctor is convinced you have legitimate concerns (and remember, you may have to do some convincing), tests such as an ultrasound, a CT scan, and an endoscopy followed by a biopsy can be used to search for a pancreatic tumor. A blood test is now available for a biomarker called CA 19-9 that is released by pancreatic cancer cells. Unfortunately, by the time CA 19-9 reaches detectable levels, the cancer is usually no longer in the early stage, although the test is useful during treatment and for detecting recurrence. Another biomarker test, CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen), is also not sensitive enough to provide early diagnosis. While tragic early deaths like Steve Jobs' are the hard reality of pancreatic cancer, there are also people living productive lives thanks to an early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Such was the case with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who's still practicing after having a tiny pancreatic tumor surgically removed. Yes, she got "lucky," as she put it -- but she also got a CT scan, which is how the tumor was found.

What Is The Pancreatic Enzyme Test?

05:29
Do you have a digestive problem that nobody can solve? It may be your pancreas, a digestive organ that is notoriously difficult to diagnose. The PE1 test, or pancreatic enzyme (Elastase) stool test may do the trick in diagnosis. Hi there, Eric Bakker. Thanks for coming back and checking out my videos. Going to talk about Pancreatic Enzyme Testing today. What's a Pancreatic Enzyme Test? What's the relevance for it? How do you do it? Why do you need it? Let's just discuss a few of these topics. The pancreas is a very interesting digestive gland, it sits behind the stomach, and it produces many different types of enzymes. Some of those enzymes, you know proteases, lipases we've got several different types. These are all involved in different aspects of your digestion. All right the proteases well, obviously, break protein down to small components, so you really need this if you're eating lots of meat or foods containing high protein. Lipases are important, they help to break fats down, and they work with bile that's produced by the liver, stored in the gallbladder. So, lipase and bile work together to break down and emulsify fats. It's very important to have fats in your diet, we need fatty soluble vitamins as well. Now many people think that fat is bad but not all fats are bad. Many fats are, in fact, good. We've got lipases, we've got proteases and we've got amylases and these basically break down the carbohydrates into sugars. These three sort of bunches or groups of enzymes actually get fully processed in the digestive process. We can measure these through the blood but not really through the stool. We've got different enzymes that basically powers through the gut. The P-E1 enzyme is what we check, the pancreatic elastase enzyme, is the one we that check really in the stool because it goes through without really breaking down or changing. So, we can tell by the amounts you've got there whether the pancreas is producing enough enzyme or not, this is called exocrine insufficiency. The pancreas has two roles in the body. A very extremely role it plays is producing hormones like insulin, these are produced by cells in the pancreas. This is the endocrine function of the pancreas or the hormone function. The exocrine is basically the digestive processes, you know that occur with the pancreas. The pancreas produces between six to eight cups of pancreatic juice a day. That's a lot of stuff. That basically gets put into the small intestine to allow you to break down food properly. This test is very relevant for you if you've got a lot of digestive problems that you think, for example, it could be candida or parasites, or you know you could have a food allergy or something going on. This is why I often recommend a stool test, a comprehensive one because you'll get so much information that you can work with. It can often quickly pinpoint to a problem area that needs fixing. So, if the P-E1 enzyme is too low for example, we start looking at things like bloating, gas, thin stools, poor stool formation, cramping, stools that flow or greasy stools, these are all sort of things that can happen with poor pancreatic function. Many times when I talk to the patient and inquire about this, there could be a background of soda consumption, chocolate consumption, very high bread consumption, alcohol, very commonly. So, that was some information for you. Thanks for tuning in.

Well, the work that again William Donald Kelly did on enzymes and which is now you know being continued forward which even NIH approval. In some case on pancreatic cancer and getting better results and then chemo ever has is every high does protein digesting or pancreatic type. Enzymes that it whatever way is often able to digest the exterior protection that the cancer cell or tumor. Actually not the cell has put on itself when it's just a cell it can get easily. Once, it becomes a tumor starts protecting itself. The pancreas is about 6 inches long and sits across the back of the abdomen, behind the stomach. The head of the pancreas is on the right side of the abdomen and is connected to the duodenum (the first section of the small intestine) through a small tube called the pancreatic duct. Pancreatic cancer arises when cells in the pancreas, a glandular organ behind the stomach, begin to multiply out of control and form a mass. These cancerous cells have the ability to invade other parts of the body. There are a number of types of pancreatic cancer. Enzymes are macromolecular biological catalysts. Enzymes accelerate chemical reactions. The molecules upon which enzymes may act are called substrates and the enzyme converts the substrates into different molecules known as products. Enzymes are protein molecules in cells which work as catalysts. Enzymes speed up chemical reactions in the body but do not get used up in the process. Almost all biochemical reactions in living things need enzymes. With an enzyme, chemical reactions go much faster than they would without the enzyme. Pancreatic enzymes also are known as pancrelipase and pancreatin, are commercial mixtures of amylase, lipase, and protease. They are used to treat malabsorption syndrome due to pancreatic problems. Pancreatic enzymes help break down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. A normally functioning pancreas secretes about 8 cups of pancreatic juice into the duodenum, daily. This fluid contains pancreatic enzymes to help with digestion and bicarbonate to neutralize stomach acid as it enters the small intestine. Pancreatic enzyme supplements are capsules that contain a mixture of digestive enzymes. They include lipase to break down fat, protease to assist with the digestion of protein, and amylase for carbohydrates. Truly Heal has shown that taking a pancreatic enzyme supplement can improve the absorption of nutrients from the digestive system. 8 Surprising Early Warning Signs Of Pancreatic Cancer You Should Never Ignore

04:33
Sign 1: Unexpected Diabetes Diagnosis. Diabetes is a disease where the body doesn’t produce enough insulin and stops being able to regulate blood sugar. It’s a common illness that comes in many different forms, but an abrupt diagnosis as an adult might be a sign of the first stages of pancreatic cancer. Since a problem in the pancreas might cause insulin issues, you should ask your doctor to rule out pancreatic cancer if you get an unexpected diabetes diagnosis. Sign 2: Itchy Hands And Feet. “Even a small pancreatic tumor can block the bile duct,” according to Caring.com. If the duct is blocked, bile starts to build up in the body. When there’s too much bile in the blood, it starts to create compounds in the blood that can’t be broken down. These compounds accumulate in the hands and feet, which might make your palms and the soles of the feet persistently itchy. Sign 3: Yellowing Eyes. The buildup of bile in the blood stream is also called jaundice. This causes a lot of other symptoms beyond itchy palms and feet. Bile has a bright yellow pigment, and it can show up in the whites of the eyes. This is another sign that a blockage, such as a small pancreatic tumor, might be developing in the pancreas. Sign 4: Gnawing Pain In Belly. Abdominal pain is a common symptom with a lot of different causes. Pain that radiates out from the pancreas is often described as “gnawing,” a bit like a hunger pain. People who have had pancreatic cancer also report that the pain tends to go away when they lean forward. Sign 5: Strange Stools. Your poop might provide one of the earliest clues to a problem developing in the pancreas. If bile isn’t being processed properly, your bowel movements won’t be their normal brown color. Instead, they’ll look pale and clay-colored, which is a symptom you always want to bring to your doctor. Sign 6: Sudden Weight Lost. Weight loss is welcome if you’re trying to work off those last 10 pounds, but it can be an alarming red flag if you aren’t trying to drop any weight at all. If a pancreatic tumor is developing, it may prevent your body from digesting food thoroughly. That means that fat and sugar might pass right through your system without sticking, though essential nutrients also aren’t making it into your body. Sign 7: Cravings Disappear. If you have always craved chocolate or cheese, and then suddenly lose your taste for them, you should pay close attention. If your pancreas stops producing the regular digestive enzymes, it might also change your appetite. In addition to feeling nauseated, you might find that specific foods you used to crave no longer taste nearly as delicious. Sign 8: No Appetite. Pancreatic cancer doesn’t just cause cravings to disappear, it might make your whole appetite go up in smoke too. You might feel hungry, then find that you’r completely full after just a bite or two. That’s because the lack of digestive enzymes can shut down your whole system and confuse your stomach. If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important that you get in touch with your doctor right away. This is especially true if you’re experiencing multiple symptoms all at once, since every early warning sign might help your doctor find a diagnosis. Signs and Symptoms Of Pancreatic Cancer You Should Know

10:10
Descriptions of Warning symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer: It accounts for about 3 percent of all cancers in the United States, but 7 percent of cancer deaths. Pancreatic cancer begins in the tissues of your pancreas, a pear-shaped organ located behind the lower part of your stomach Pancreatic cancer is difficult to detect early and it typically spreads rapidly, affecting other parts of the body. This is why it is called a silent disease and you must get cancer pancreas treatment. Here are the top 6 early warning signs of pancreatic cancer that you must know. 1, Jaundice. 01:02 It is common for people with pancreatic cancer to experience jaundice, characterized by yellowing of the eyes or skin. Jaundice can also cause itchiness on the hands and feet, especially the palms and soles. Any size of tumor located in the head of the pancreas can lead to irregular bile (a yellowish-brown fluid released by your liver to aid digestion) flowing from the gallbladder into the small intestine. This causes excess buildup of bilirubin in the blood, one of the main causes of jaundice. 2, Abdominal and Lower Back Pain. 02:05 Abdominal as well as back pain are also common symptoms in patients with pancreatic cancer. Usually, the sharp pain is felt in the upper abdomen, which gradually radiates toward the back. Many patients also report the pain is more severe at night and that they get slight relief from the pain by bending forward. If you are experiencing persistent, mild to moderate abdominal pain, consult a doctor or pancreatic cancer clinical trials. Most cases of pancreatic cancer are diagnosed in patients visiting the emergency room complaining of severe abdominal pain. 3, Nausea and Vomiting. 03:12 Nausea followed by vomiting is another sign of pancreatic cancer. As the tumor grows, it can block some portions of the digestive tract, which hampers the overall digestion process. Along with nausea and vomiting, you may also experience heartburn and acid reflux. If these symptoms tend to worsen after eating and it is becoming difficult for you to eat anything without throwing up, consult your doctor and get best pancreatic cancer treatment. In advanced cases of pancreatic cancer, surgery may be required to bypass the blockage and improve digestion. 4, Unexplained Weight Loss. 04:07 Unexplained weight loss is another noticeable warning sign of different types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer. Weight loss often occurs when a tumor spreads to nearby organs and impairs their functioning. This affects proper digestion of nutrients and also leads to poor appetite. Also, due to lack of pancreatic enzymes aiding digestion, dietary fats start passing through the body undigested, which in turn causes weight loss. Furthermore, the cancer cells compete with healthy cells for nutrients you must find a pancreatic cancer therapy. 5, Greasy or Light-Colored Stool. 05:06 Stools of people suffering from pancreatic cancer have some distinct characteristics. The stools may become large, pale, oily, floating and smelly as the growing tumor prevents the pancreas from releasing its digestive enzymes. As the color and consistency of your stool says a lot about your health, any kind of bowel changes should be reported to your doctor. 6, Changes in Urine Color. 06:13 Along with changes in your stools, you may also notice changes in your urine color, despite drinking enough fluid throughout the day. Your urine may become darker and take on an orange, amber or brown shade. A growing pancreatic tumor can cause bile to get blocked and not released from your body in the way that it should be. Too much bilirubin in the body can get into your urine and make it dark in appearance. At times, there also may be traces of blood in your urine. Music: Royalty Free Music from Bensound

Any size of tumor located in the head of the pancreas can lead to irregular bile (a yellowish-brown fluid released by your liver to aid digestion) flowing from the gallbladder into the small intestine. This causes excess buildup of bilirubin in the blood, one of the main causes of jaundice. If you have signs of jaundice, consult your doctor as it is a common symptom of many liver and gallbladder diseases as well as a sign of pancreatic cancer. If other causes are ruled out, ask your doctor about testing for pancreatic cancer. 2. Abdominal and Lower Back Pain Abdominal as well as back pain are also common symptoms in patients with pancreatic cancer. Usually, the sharp pain is felt in the upper abdomen, which gradually radiates toward the back. Many patients also report the pain is more severe at night and that they get slight relief from the pain by bending forward. A 2001 study published in the Pancreas journal found that abdominal pain in pancreatic cancer patients can be due to the increasing size of the tumor, invasion of the intra-pancreatic nerves, invasion of the anterior pancreatic capsule and lymph node metastasis. If you are experiencing persistent, mild to moderate abdominal pain, consult a doctor. Most cases of pancreatic cancer are diagnosed in patients visiting the emergency room complaining of severe abdominal pain. In fact, the location of the pain is helpful in determining where a tumor is located. 3. Nausea and Vomiting Nausea followed by vomiting is another sign of pancreatic cancer. As the tumor grows, it can block some portions of the digestive tract, which hampers the overall digestion process. Along with nausea and vomiting, you may also experience heartburn and acid reflux. As any kind of interference with normal digestion and excretion processes can cause vomiting, all nausea and vomiting episodes are not necessarily linked with cancer. Try peppermint or ginger tea as well as limiting your water intake with meals, but drink water between meals to reduce nausea. If these symptoms tend to worsen after eating and it is becoming difficult for you to eat anything without throwing up, consult your doctor. In advanced cases of pancreatic cancer, surgery may be required to bypass the blockage and improve digestion. 4. Sudden, Unexplained Weight Loss Unexplained weight loss is another noticeable warning sign of different types of cancer, including pancreatic cancer. Furthermore, the cancer cells compete with healthy cells for nutrients. If you have started losing weight suddenly without making any changes to your diet or physical activity, consult your doctor. 5. Greasy or Light-Colored Stool Stools of people suffering from pancreatic cancer have some distinct characteristics. The stools may become large, pale, oily, floating and smelly as the growing tumor prevents the pancreas from releasing its digestive enzymes. These enzymes are needed to digest food, especially fatty food. The undigested fat ultimately ends up in your stool, making it float or look greasy. These fatty stools are difficult to flush away. Furthermore, stools turn a lighter color due to the lack of bilirubin. As the color and consistency of your stool says a lot about your health, any kind of bowel changes should be reported to your doctor. Why few survive the pancreatic cancer that killed Aretha Franklin

08:12
Thank you for watching. Have a nice day! My channel: https://goo.gl/vCXdrM ABOUT: Aretha Franklin died today of one of the rarest forms of pancreatic cancer at age 76.Medical advancements have vastly improved survival rates and time alive for cancers patients in general - but tumors of the pancreas remain some of the toughest to treat.Only 20 percent of pancreatic cancer patients survive for a year after diagnosis.Just seven percent make it five years. As other forms become more curable, pancreatic cancer is climbing the ranks of deadliest cancers, reaching number three this year, and set to soon become second only to lung cancer. The Queen of Soul had surgery, most likely for a pancreatic tumor in 2010, and went on to live for another eight years.Although hers was the less deadly form, an expert told Daily Mail Online why even a power house performer with every resource at her disposal like Franklin faces such tough odds with pancreatic cancer.Franklin had long struggled with her health, including battles with alcoholism that she confessed in her 1999 autobiography. But pancreatic cancer is one of the cruel diseases that does not seem to distinguish between rock-and-roll lifestyle or none.Who is struck by pancreatic cancer is largely unpredictable, according to Dr Eric Collisson, a leading University of San Francisco oncologist told Daily Mail Online.'In the majority of cases, we really just don't know,' he said. The fact that Franklin was African American meant she was at a slightly elevated risk for any form of pancreatic cancer, which is also associated with obesity, smoking, diabetes and age.But there are two forms of pancreatic cancer - adenocarcinoma and neuroendocrine - and Franklin had the latter.Neuroendocrine tumors account for only five percent of all pancreatic cancers. While they are less aggressive, they are also 'more heterogeneous,' said Dr Collisson. That means that it is harder to predict who will develop these tumors, and how the cancers will progress.Franklin's case falls into the range of 'what is totally typical,' Dr Collisson said. Both neuroendocrine and adenocarcinoma pancreatic caners are 'serious, but the kinetics are different' he explained. Both cancers are 'serious,' and often prove deadly because they get caught too late.'The pancreas is deep in the body, so it gives very few early warning signs,' Dr Collisson said.'There's no mammogram for it, and you don't feel your pancreas in the shower. It's so deep in the body that a cancer has very few symptoms that cause it to be discovered.' Sitting behind the liver and stomach, the pancreas is a six-inch lobe very near the center of the body cavity.'The job of the pancreas in normal people is to make enzymes that digest your food - especially fatty food - and to make insulin and glucodone, hormones which signal other parts of the body to get ready to digest and process food,' Dr Collisson explained.'So it's essential to digestion but it is not part of the digestive system.' The pancreas is a large organ behind the stomach that produces digestive enzymes. There are two main types, acute pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis. Signs and symptoms of pancreatitis include pain in the upper abdomen, nausea and vomiting. The pain often goes into the back and is usually severe. In acute pancreatitis a fever may occur and symptoms typically resolve in a few days. In chronic pancreatitis weight loss, fatty stool, and diarrhea may occur. Complications may include infection, bleeding, diabetes mellitus, or problems with other organs. The most common causes of acute pancreatitis are gallstones and heavy alcohol use. Other causes include direct trauma, certain medications, infections such as mumps, and tumors among others. Chronic pancreatitis may develop as a result of acute pancreatitis. It is most commonly due to many years of heavy alcohol use. Other causes include high levels of blood fats, high blood calcium, some medications, and certain genetic disorders such as cystic fibrosis among others. Smoking increases the risk of both acute and chronic pancreatitis.Diagnosis of acute pancreatitis is based on a threefold increase in the blood of either amylase or lipase. In chronic pancreatitis these tests may be normal. Medical imaging such as ultrasound and CT scan may also be useful. Acute pancreatitis is usually treated with intravenous fluids, pain medication, and sometimes antibiotics. Typically no eating or drinking is allowed and a tube may be placed into the stomach. A procedure known as an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) may be done to open the pancreatic duct if blocked. In those with gallstones the gallbladder is often also removed. In chronic pancreatitis, in addition to the above, temporary feeding through a nasogastric tube may be used to provide adequate nutrition. Long-term dietary changes and pancreatic enzyme replacement may be required. And occasionally surgery is done to remove parts of the pancreas. Globally, in 2015 about 8.9 million cases of pancreatitis occurred. This resulted in 132,700 deaths, up from 83,000 deaths in 1990.Acute pancreatitis occurs in about 30 per 100,000 people a year.New cases of chronic pancreatitis develop in about 8 per 100,000 people a year and currently affect about 50 per 100,000 people in the United States. It is more common in men than women. Often chronic pancreatitis starts between the ages of 30 and 40 while it is rare in children.Acute pancreatitis was first described on autopsy in 1882 while chronic pancreatitis was first described in 1946. Detecting Pancreatic Cancer Earlier

02:01
Lustgarten Foundation funded researchers at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins have designed a multi-analyte blood test that can detect the presence of pancreatic cancer as part of a panel of eight common cancers (pancreas, ovary, liver, stomach, esophagus, colorectum, lung and breast) as reported in the online edition of Science today. The test utilizes combined assays for genetic alterations and protein biomarkers and has the capacity not only to identify the presence of relatively early cancer, but also to localize the organ of origin of these cancers. “The potential this has for pancreatic cancer is unprecedented,” says Anne Marie Lennon, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Medicine, Director, Pancreatic Cyst Center of the Ludwig Center at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. “We know that in 80-85 percent of pancreatic cancer cases, it’s detected too late, leaving the patient with few options. Developing a blood screening test for pancreatic cancer has been an urgent goal, because catching the disease early will be the way we get to long-term survival.” To view the multimedia release go to: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/8213751-lustgarten-foundation-pancreatic-cancer-blood-test/

See much more honest health information at: http://www.rehealthify.com/ Rehealthify offers reliable, up-to-date health information, anytime, anywhere, for free. -- video script below -- The pancreas is a large gland behind the stomach and close to the first part of the small intestine. It secretes digestive juices into the small intestine through a tube called the pancreatic duct. The pancreas also releases the hormones insulin and glucagon into the bloodstream. Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas. It happens when digestive enzymes start digesting the pancreas itself. Pancreatitis can be acute or chronic. Either form is serious and can lead to complications. Acute pancreatitis occurs suddenly and usually goes away in a few days with treatment. It is often caused by gallstones. Common symptoms are severe pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, and vomiting. Treatment is usually a few days in the hospital for intravenous (IV) fluids, antibiotics, and medicines to relieve pain. Chronic pancreatitis does not heal or improve. It gets worse over time and leads to permanent damage. The most common cause is heavy alcohol use. Other causes include cystic fibrosis and other inherited disorders, high levels of calcium or fats in the blood, some medicines, and autoimmune conditions. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and oily stools. Treatment may also be a few days in the hospital for intravenous (IV) fluids, medicines to relieve pain, and nutritional support. After that, you may need to start taking enzymes and eat a special diet. It is also important to not smoke or drink alcohol. NIH: National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases

What is Amylase test : Normal Range and Interpretation in Pancreatitis & Other Disorders

01:49
#Amylase #Pancreatitis In depth and exclusive info please visit http://interpretyourbloodtests.com/amylase/ Amylase most commonly ordered together with lipase in the diagnosis of pancreatitis It is secreted by 1. Pancreas : pancreatic amylase 2.Salivary Glands : Salivary amylase Routine testing methods won’t be able to differentiate pancreatic and salivary component of the amylase that is tested. Hence the levels are amylase in blood tests are not specific. Infact lipase is a better test when compared to amylase in the diagnosis of pancreatitis. Normal range of amylase: 28 to 100 U/L Conditions with increased amylase levels • Pancreatic Disorders o Pancreatitis o Pancreatic trauma o Biliary tract obstruction • Abdominal Disorders with normal pancreas o Interstinal obstruction o Perforated peptic ulcer o Appendicitis o Mesenteric infarction o Peritonitis • Ruptured Tubal ectopic pregnancy • Salpingitis • Ovarian malignancy • Renal failure • Salivary gland lesions • Diabetic ketoacidosis How to interpret abnormal results ? Levels in pancreatitis needs to elevated more than 3 times the upper limit to diagnose pancreatitis. Usually it needs to be correlated with lipase levels, which is a more specific test for the diagnosis of pancreatits. How are levels in non pancreatic conditions. ? Levels of amylase are elevated in non pancreatic conditions, however they are usually less than than three times the upper range For the diagnosis of pancreatitis it should be correlated with lipase levels. Infact lipase is more specific than amylase More info : https://www.interpretyourbloodtests.com https://www.facebook.com/interpretyourbloodtests/ Music from https://www.bensound.com

Heal your Pancreas Naturally with these Foods

04:19
Heal your pancreas naturally with these foods The pancreas is really the life saver in all of us. It plays a very important role for your health and well-being. It produces your insulin. If it is damaged, you will not get insulin. Without insulin, your glucose metabolism suffers. Your body cells cannot produce energy from food. Please visit The Refreshing Point Web store for Healthy Products discussed in my videos: https://www.amazon.com/shop/therefreshingpoint The pancreas plays a crucial role in digestion. When food empties from your stomach into the small intestine, it mixes with digestive enzymes from the pancreas that neutralize stomach acid, preventing damage to the intestine. These enzymes are also essential for your body to reduce inflammation caused by trauma, injury, allergens, toxins and infections. But most importantly, the pancreas produces insulin, which reduces blood sugar levels and allows your body to store food energy for future use. Eating the right foods can heal and nourish your pancreas. Foods That Heal The Pancreas Probiotic Yogurt Research finds that eating 3 servings of low fat or fat free yogurt that contains active cultures to help ease digestion, protect the pancreas and digestive system, and reduce the overall risk of pancreatic cancer. Cabbage A regular consumption of cabbage may help protect susceptible individuals against pancreatic cancer. Cabbage is loaded with vitamin C, but it also contains vitamin B6 and folate. Spinach The pancreas needs both iron and Vitamin B to function properly, and spinach has both. A pancreas that is properly nourished will be less likely to become inflamed or to be vulnerable to the onset of cancer. Licorice Licorice root is an excellent treatment for many problems with pancreas. Traditional Chinese used licorice root for thousands of years. Research even shows that this common root is loaded with an anti-inflammatory compound that reduces pain and swelling that is associated with pancreatitis. Cherries It’s really hard to eat just a handful of cherries, which is great news since the fruit is rich in antioxidants and perillyl alcohol (or POH), a compound that’s been linked to the prevention of pancreatic cancer. Garlic This is a major help for the pancreas. Garlic reduces the amount of sugar in the blood and stimulates the pancreas to produce sufficient levels of insulin. Aim to eat one to two slightly crushed cloves of garlic each day in addition to adding some to your foods. Red Reishi Mushrooms Used in China for thousands of years to restore balance inside the body, red rishi mushrooms reduce inflammation and have similar benefits of onions and garlic for pancreatic health. If are hard to find in your local grocery store, try the Asian foods section at a specialty grocery store. Sweet Potatoes Sweet potatoes along with other orange and yellow vegetables like carrots, corn and squash contain nutrients which are beneficial for the pancreas and may help prevent cancer. Other foods that also heal the Pancreas are Blueberries, Broccoli, Red Grapes, and Tomato Vegetable Soup. Because the pancreas is very easily damaged by an unhealthy diet, eating these certain food will boost its health. HOW Pineapple Enzymes can KILL CANCER CELLS & Save Your Life? CURE CANCER with Pineapple Enzymes?

10:05
Bromelain in Pineapples Helps in Cancer Treatment. HOW Pineapple Enzymes can KILL CANCER TUMORS & Save Your Life? Bromelain in Pineapples Kills Cancer Cells Without Harming You One such compound is bromelain, an enzyme that can be extracted from pineapple stems. Research published in the journal Planta Medica found that bromelain was superior to the chemotherapy drug 5-fluorauracil in treating cancer in an animal study.1 Researchers stated: "This antitumoral effect [of bromelain] was superior to that of 5-FU [5-fluorouracil], whose survival index was approximately 263 %, relative to the untreated control." What makes this impact particularly impressive is that the bromelain worked without causing additional harm to the animals. The chemo drug 5-fluorauracil, on the other hand, has a relatively unsuccessful and dangerous track record despite being used for nearly 40 years. As written by GreenMedInfo: "As a highly toxic, fluoride-bound form of the nucleic acid uracil, a normal component of RNA, the drug is supposed to work by tricking more rapidly dividing cells -- which include both cancer and healthy intestinal, hair follicle, and immune cells -- into taking it up, thereby inhibiting (read: poisoning) RNA replication enzymes and RNA synthesis.… When a person dies following conventional cancer treatment it is all too easy to "blame the victim" and simply write that patient's cancer off as "chemo-resistant," or "exceptionally aggressive," when in fact the non-selective nature of the chemotoxic agent is what ultimately lead to their death." Selective cytotoxicity is indeed a property that is only found among natural compounds; no chemotherapy drug yet developed is capable of this effect. Aside from bromelain, other examples of natural compounds that have been found to kill cancer cells without harming healthy cells include: • Vitamin C -- Dr. Ronald Hunninghake carried out a 15-year research project called RECNAC (cancer spelled backwards). His groundbreaking research in cell cultures showed that vitamin C was selectively cytotoxic against cancer cells. • Eggplant extract: Solasodine rhamnosyl glycosides (BEC), which is a fancy name for extracts from plants of the Solanaceae family, such as eggplant, tomato, potato, Bell peppers, and tobacco, also impact only cancerous cells leaving normal cells alone. Eggplant extract cream appears to be particularly useful in treating skin cancer. Dr. Bill E. Cham, a leading researcher in this area, explains: "The mode of action of SRGs [glycoalkaloids solasodine rhamnosy glycosides (BEC)] is unlike any current antineoplastic [anti-tumor] agent. Specific receptors for the SRGs present only on cancer cells but not normal cells are the first step of events that lead to apoptosis in cancer cells only, and this may explain why during treatment the cancer cells were being eliminated and normal cells were replacing the killed cancer cells with no scar tissue being formed." • Turmeric (Curcumin Extract): Of all the natural cancer fighters out there, this spice has been the most intensely researched for exhibiting selective cytotoxicity.2 Remarkably, in a 2011 study published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, rats administered curcumin, the primary polyphenol in turmeric, saw a decrease in experimentally-induced brain tumors in 9 out of 11 treated, while noting that the curcumin did not affect the viability of brain cells "suggesting that curcumin selectively targets the transformed [cancerous] cells." How Enzymes Might Help Treat Cancer Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme (an enzyme that digests proteins). In the Planta Medica study, it was injected directly into the abdominal cavity. Getting enzymes from your digestive tract into your bloodstream isn't as easy as it would seem, as enzymes are very susceptible to denaturing and must be helped to survive the highly acidic environment in your stomach. They are often given an "enteric coating" to help them survive the journey through your digestive tract. And then, there is the matter of absorption. For nearly 100 years, medical dogma insisted that enzymes taken orally were too large to pass through the digestive tract wall. However, there is now a good deal of research that they can indeed pass through your intestine intact3 and into your bloodstream and lymphatic system, where they can deliver their services to the rest of your body... one of the mysteries of medical science. Now that we know this is possible, systemic oral enzymes have been used to treat problems ranging from sports injuries to arthritis to heart disease and cancer, particularly in European countries. But most of the research has been published in non-English language journals.

What is Lipase Test: It's Normal Range & Levels in Pancreatitis

01:50
#Lipase #Pancreatitis Lipase is secreted by pancreas. It plays a predominant role in the digestion of fats. Levels of pancreas are increased in the presence of inflammation of the pancreas. It is usually ordered in the presence of abdominal pain esp when the doctor suspects pancreatitis. Amylase & Lipase are typically ordered in the presence of pancreatitis . However Lipase is the better test out of the two as it has more sensitivity and specificity. Causes of pancreatitis 1. Alcoholism 2. Biliary tract obstruction 3. Hypertriglyceridemia 4.Pancreatic cancer Normal range is Less than 38 U/L For the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis the levels are usually increased by over three times the upper limit. However the levels does not correlate with the severity of the disease. PANCREATITIS Symptoms, Causes & Treatments

06:02
PANCREATITIS Symptoms, Causes & Treatments OVERVIEW Pancreatitis is inflammation in the pancreas. The pancreas is a long, flat gland that sits tucked behind the stomach in the upper abdomen. The pancreas produces enzymes that help digestion and hormones that help regulate the way your body processes sugar (glucose). Pancreatitis can occur as acute pancreatitis — meaning it appears suddenly and lasts for days. Or pancreatitis can occur as chronic pancreatitis, which is pancreatitis that occurs over many years. Mild cases of pancreatitis may go away without treatment, but severe cases can cause life-threatening complications. SYMPTOMS Signs and symptoms of pancreatitis may vary, depending on which type you experience. Acute pancreatitis signs and symptoms include: • Upper abdominal pain • Abdominal pain that radiates to your back • Abdominal pain that feels worse after eating • Fever • Rapid pulse • Nausea • Vomiting • Tenderness when touching the abdomen Chronic pancreatitis signs and symptoms include: • Upper abdominal pain • Losing weight without trying • Oily, smelly stools (steatorrhea) CAUSES Pancreatitis occurs when digestive enzymes become activated while still in the pancreas, irritating the cells of your pancreas and causing inflammation. With repeated bouts of acute pancreatitis, damage to the pancreas can occur and lead to chronic pancreatitis. Scar tissue may form in the pancreas, causing loss of function. A poorly functioning pancreas can cause digestion problems and diabetes. Conditions that can lead to pancreatitis include: • Alcoholism. • Gallstones. • Abdominal surgery. • Certain medications. • Cigarette smoking. • Cystic fibrosis. • Family history of pancreatitis. • High calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcemia), which may be caused by an overactive parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism). • High triglyceride levels in the blood (hypertriglyceridemia). • Infection. • Injury to the abdomen. • Pancreatic cancer. TREATMENTS Initial treatments in the hospital may include: • Fasting. You'll stop eating for a couple of days in the hospital in order to give your pancreas a chance to recover. • Once the inflammation in your pancreas is controlled, you may begin drinking clear liquids and eating bland foods. With time, you can go back to your normal diet. • If your pancreatitis persists and you still experience pain when eating, your doctor may recommend a feeding tube to help you get nutrition. • Pain medications. Pancreatitis can cause severe pain. Your health care team will give you medications to help control the pain. • Intravenous (IV) fluids. As your body devotes energy and fluids to repairing your pancreas, you may become dehydrated. For this reason, you'll receive extra fluids through a vein in your arm during your hospital stay. Once your pancreatitis is under control, your health care team can treat the underlying cause of your pancreatitis. Depending on the cause of your pancreatitis, treatment may include: • Procedures to remove bile duct obstructions. Pancreatitis caused by a narrowed or blocked bile duct may require procedures to open or widen the bile duct. • Gallbladder surgery. If gallstones caused your pancreatitis, your doctor may recommend surgery to remove your gallbladder (cholecystectomy). • Pancreas surgery. Surgery may be necessary to drain fluid from your pancreas or to remove diseased tissue. • Treatment for alcohol dependence. Drinking several drinks a day over many years can cause pancreatitis. If this is the cause of your pancreatitis, your doctor may recommend you enter a treatment program for alcohol addiction. Continuing to drink may worsen your pancreatitis and lead to serious complications. Additional treatments for chronic pancreatitis Depending on your situation, chronic pancreatitis may require additional treatments, including: • Pain management. Chronic pancreatitis can cause persistent abdominal pain. Your doctor may recommend medications to control your pain and may refer you to a pain specialist. Severe pain may be relieved with options such as endoscopic ultrasound or surgery to block nerves that send pain signals from the pancreas to the brain. • Enzymes to improve digestion. Pancreatic enzyme supplements can help your body break down and process the nutrients in the foods you eat. Pancreatic enzymes are taken with each meal. • Changes to your diet. Your doctor may refer you to a dietitian who can help you plan low-fat meals that are high in nutrients.

Problems with Amylase Digestive Enzymes

04:50
Greeting, greetings. It's Eric Bakker. Thanks for coming back. I got a long question here from somebody, a subscriber. I'm reading your Candida Crusher book now and I've searched through your YouTube channel, but cannot find answer to this problem I've had with digestive enzymes. My symptoms match many that you list with candida and I've suffered with horrible symptoms for many years. My question is when I take high quality digestive enzymes, I can take amalyase as you recommended, I had what I described as die off symptoms. One in particular was constant sneezing and congestion and worse than with symptoms. I only took a fraction of the dose as I'm sensitive to most supplements. There you go. I'm sensitive to most supplements. Are you in the Candida Crusher book, go and read about the super sensitive patient. Okay? There's three types of people. There's the normal people. Who's normal these days? There's a sensitive person, and there's the supersensitive person. After many years in the clinic I discovered there are three types. Okay? I was never taught any of this stuff at natural pathic college. I never heard any of my colleagues talk about it, but I worked out these three types. The normal, the sensitive, the super sensitive. With the normal person, they can generally take a dosage as prescribed on the package, one, two or three times a day without much problem. The sensitive patient will need to be more cautious. These are the person that they can take maybe two a day. They overstep that mark, they get a reaction. The supersensitive patient can range in that category, can range from moderately supersensitive up to the point where they can't live around people any more because colognes and perfumes and power or electrical cables in walls affect them and mobile phone affect them. These are difficult people to work with. I generally can't do much for the extreme sensitive patient. These people can't even turn open a tap because the smell of ... If there's any chlorine in the water makes them faint. These people really exist. I've had a few patients like that and they're difficult to work with. But if you're supersensitive, nevertheless, what you want to do probably is back off all supplements and work a lot more with foods. I would tend to work in your situation if you wanted enzymes I'd be working a lot more with lemon juice and citric acid. The citric acid and lemon juice and also acidic acid in the apple cider vinegar. You can start even with five drops of apple cider vinegar in a teaspoon of water, three, four times per day for example. You don't need amylase. There are different ways for you to get the pancreas working a little bit better. If the pancreas is what you want to stimulate, and you're a sensitive person, I recommend that you work more with the stomach and get the acidity on that lower, which will make the pancreas a lot more effective as a digestive organ. My question to you is, what is your pancreatic elastase one enzyme like? Do a test for PE1. Let me write it down for you. PE1. Pancreatic elastase one. Get that checked out. Your doctor should be able to do that test or through a stool lab. The PE1 should be over 500 for a healthy person. Let's just see what yours is like. Do that test and come back to me maybe through YouTube and I can post it up again. Get the PE1 checked. Maybe do a comprehensive stool analysis to see if there's any bacteria or fungal or parasites or there could be other digestive parameters not working properly for you. We need to know these things. Don't walk into a room, a dark room, without a torch trying to find something. All right? You're going to bump into the walls and probably break the blooming window. Get a torch, or get your iPhone these days with the little flashlight button on it, all right? Then click it on. Hello, I can see everything and the room. Ah, that's where it is. That's where the elephant in the room is. It's in the corner. All right? How you're going to find the elephant in your room is you're going to do a stool test. I would probably go and dig a bit deeper into this case if I were you and find out why you have these extreme reactions. There could be something in the stool. If the stool test comes back clean as a whistle and you've got very powerful reactions, I would tend to look at something else. I would look at limbic system retraining. I'll talk about that in another video. That might really hold the key. I think the second part to your question I just noticed here is do you know if this is something you've come across before and if so how to proceed without major issues? Well, I've just mentioned do the stool test. Look at the PE1 level. Let's have a look at what comes back. If everything's coming back okay, we need to look at working on a different level. Thanks for the question. I appreciate it. Don't forget to subscribe, but I think you're already a subscriber. Thank you.

Why few survive the pancreatic cancer that killed Aretha Franklin

06:12
Why few survive the pancreatic cancer that killed Aretha Franklin Aretha Franklin died today of one of the rarest forms of pancreatic cancer at age 76. Medical advancements have vastly improved survival rates and time alive for cancers patients in general - but tumors of the pancreas remain some of the toughest to treat. Only 20 percent of pancreatic cancer patients survive for a year after diagnosis. Just seven percent make it five years. As other forms become more curable, pancreatic cancer is climbing the ranks of deadliest cancers, reaching number three this year, and set to soon become second only to lung cancer. The Queen of Soul had surgery, most likely for a pancreatic tumor in 2010, and went on to live for another eight years. Although hers was the less deadly form, an expert told Daily Mail Online why even a power house performer with every resource at her disposal like Franklin faces such tough odds with pancreatic cancer. Franklin had long struggled with her health, including battles with alcoholism that she confessed in her 1999 autobiography. But pancreatic cancer is one of the cruel diseases that does not seem to distinguish between rock-and-roll lifestyle or none. Who is struck by pancreatic cancer is largely unpredictable, according to Dr Eric Collisson, a leading University of San Francisco oncologist told Daily Mail Online. 'In the majority of cases, we really just don't know,' he said. The fact that Franklin was African American meant she was at a slightly elevated risk for any form of pancreatic cancer, which is also associated with obesity, smoking, diabetes and age. But there are two forms of pancreatic cancer - adenocarcinoma and neuroendocrine - and Franklin had the latter. Neuroendocrine tumors account for only five percent of all pancreatic cancers. While they are less aggressive, they are also 'more heterogeneous,' said Dr Collisson. That means that it is harder to predict who will develop these tumors, and how the cancers will progress. Franklin's case falls into the range of 'what is totally typical,' Dr Collisson said. Both neuroendocrine and adenocarcinoma pancreatic caners are 'serious, but the kinetics are different' he explained. Both cancers are 'serious,' and often prove deadly because they get caught too late. 'The pancreas is deep in the body, so it gives very few early warning signs,' Dr Collisson said. 'There's no mammogram for it, and you don't feel your pancreas in the shower. It's so deep in the body that a cancer has very few symptoms that cause it to be discovered.' Sitting behind the liver and stomach, the pancreas is a six-inch lobe very near the center of the body cavity. 'The job of the pancreas in normal people is to make enzymes that digest your food - especially fatty food - and to make insulin and glucodone, hormones which signal other parts of the body to get ready to digest and process food,' Dr Collisson explained. 'So it's essential to digestion but it is not part of the digestive system.' This means that a pancreatic tumor won't necessarily make digestion grind to a halt. Instead, 'we usually find these tumors when they block something important in the abdomen, unless we do an abdominal CT for some other reason,' Dr Collisson said. So early detection is lacking.' Currently, there are not screening tests for pancreatic cancer, but some institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, are working to develop these. By the time doctors find these cancers, they have usually metastasized and spread to other parts of the body and become much more challenging to treat. Every year, about 55,440 people are diagnosed with the disease, and most of them do not survive more than a year. Dr Collisson said that about 80 percent of patients with adenocarcinoma, the more deadly form, already have metastases when they get diagnosed. 'Neuroendocrine tumors' like Franklin had, account for maybe one percent and 'tend to be pretty variable,' he explained. 'Some can sit around for literally decades without metastases, not causing any problems, and others start out being good actors and then transform into malevolent tumors.' Plus, chemotherapy is not very useful against these cancers. Instead, scientists are looking into other treatments that 'turn off' the cancer's effects on endocrine receptors and tamper with the body's normal functions. The latest research used immunotherapy to seemingly 'cure' lab animals of pancreatic cancer, according to the researchers' July 2018 study, but the method is far from being safe or available to humans. Drugs and the cancer itself can cause dramatic weight loss like Franklin had - dropping to under 90 lbs before her but ultimately they are really treating the symptom more than the cancers and few survive.
