Most Common Antidepressant Withdrawal Symptoms!
Here are some of the most common antidepressant withdrawal symptoms! If you have any type of anxiety disorder such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, health anxiety or hypochondria, social anxiety, phobias, depression etc etc, then you have either take antidepressants or thought about taking them in the past. First I suggest always trying to overcome depression and anxiety the natural way. These antidepressant withdrawal symptoms usually start 1-2 days after quitting and can last a few weeks. You can experience anxiety, irritability, tiredness, fatigue, brain zaps, flu like symptoms, insomnia, nightmares, headaches, and a return of depression or suicidal thoughts. Make sure you talk to your doctor before quitting any drug. Tapering off of antidepressants can reduce the withdrawal symptoms. Tips for anxiety *** So how do we overcome anxiety or beat anxiety? These are tips that you should be trying every single day to stop your anxiety! Dont skip any days and remember that there will still be bad days. Its how we handle the bad days, that determines how we progress in our mental health. Make sure you are exercising daily, eating healthy, keeping a journal, taking a multivitamin, practicing meditation in the mornings and evenings, practicing cbt, keep counseling or therapy as an option, watch positive affirmation and asmr videos, join online support groups, and most importantly do this everyday and dont give up! Antidepressants | Tapering Off | Withdrawal
Greetings from Berlin you guys! I finally made it :) So, withdrawal symptoms when quitting SSRIs include: - Anxiety - Depression and mood swings - Dizziness and balance problems, possibly vertigo - Electric shock sensations - Fatigue - Flu-like symptoms - Headache - Loss of coordination - Muscle spasms - Nausea - Nightmares - Tremors - Trouble sleeping - Vomiting ...And the list goes on. I have been struggling with brain zaps, decreased appetite and flu-like symptoms along with depersonalization and dizziness. The best recommendation I can give is to get lots of sleep, try and reduce stress as much as possible, eat healthy and drink loads of water. You might also want to reduce you physical activity or replace your usual excersize routine with a lighter one. If you feel too bad to tolerate the symptoms please contact your doctor, and also try to taper off your antidepressant gradually (your doctor will provide you with a scheme like this one: https://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/how-to-taper-off-your-antidepressant) If you find yourself having suicidal ideations, thoughts or intentions please contact a help line: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org Anyway, stay positive, healthy and happy! much love xx ___ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/a._fitz/ tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/annafitzgerald ___

Psychiatric drugs kill 500,000 people per year

Brain Zaps and Antidepressants - Why Do they Happen?
Brain zaps are part of what we call medication discontinuation syndrome. Medication discontinuation syndrome are symptoms that you can see when you suddenly stop your medication. In this case were talking about what you see when you stop the serotonin enhancing antidepressants. An easy way to remember these symptoms is with the mnemonic FINISH F - Flulike symptoms. I - insomnia. N - nausea or maybe even vomiting. I - imbalance like dizziness or even vertigo like your head is spinning. S - sensory disturbances and that would be the electric shocks that seem to be coming from your brain. H - for hyperarousal and this would be anxiety, irritability, aggression or even jerkiness. Chronic drug exposure and withdrawal relevance to depression
“Chronic drug exposure and withdrawal: relevance to depression” Paul Kenny, Ph.D. Professor and Chair, Department of Neuroscience, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Athina Markou Memorial Symposium Thursday, November 10, 2016 Atkinson Hall, UC San Diego On behalf of the UCSD Department of Psychiatry, we welcome you to the Athina Markou Memorial Symposium. Professor Markou was a uniquely gifted scientist, caring mentor, dedicated Greek, fearless adventurer, and loving friend and partner. Born in Greece, Athina came to the U.S. for graduate training, first in Cincinnati and then UCSD. At The Scripps Research Institute and then UCSD, Dr. Markou established a world-class laboratory focusing on the neurobiology of reward and motivational processes relevant to psychiatric disorders. She trained exceptional scientists, mentoring 70+ young investigators, many becoming leaders in the field. As Vice Chair for Basic Science Research in Psychiatry, she was a vibrant leader who fostered the recruitment of new basic sciences faculty, helped organize our Research Council, and established a very successful research colloquium series. Dr. Markou sought to develop new therapeutics for addiction and mood disorders. She designed ways to quantitatively measure reward and motivational processes characterizing psychostimulant dependence in rodents, providing the field with important tools. Her pioneering work on metabotropic glutamate receptors led to clinical trials of mGlu2 positive allosteric modulators in tobacco dependence. She also led a multidisciplinary team to develop GABA-B receptor modulators for treating nicotine dependence. Dr. Markou’s pioneering work was recognized by the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, via the Daniel H. Efron Research Award. Dr. Markou authored 200+ articles and reviews, which are widely cited in the literature. She was a tireless contributor to the field as editor for top psychopharmacology journals, receiving multiple awards for her dedication to the peer-review process. She took special pride in her work with the Greek Neuroscience community, and was featured by Deree College in Athens, her undergraduate alma mater, as a “success story” in Greek newspapers.

Gets off Depression Medication after 22 Years!
CLICK HERE TO GET MORE INFO: http://www.releasetechnique.com/natural-health/depression/ Does your life often seem rather pointless? Do you often wake in the morning and it's as much as you can do to muster enough energy to get up and get dressed? Do you ever feel as though your life is stuck in a "black hole" and nobody can ever bring you out of it? Are you plagued by the fear that you're becoming "invisible" to the people around you? Are you emotionally "cut off" from the world going on around you? Do you ever just wish you could just hide away and die? If so... These Are All "Red Flags" That You Are Suffering From Depression. Depression is horrible. It robs you of your self-esteem, your happiness... even your life. Often it is impossible to explain to the people that matter in your life how you are feeling (or not feeling!). Sure you can go talk with your doctor. And on the "surface" this sounds like a sensible idea. After all, the primary role of a doctor is to diagnose an illness or health issue and prescribe a course of action to make you feel better, right? Well yes, that's sort of true. Trouble is, in all but extremely rare cases your friendly doctor will prescribe you anti-depression pills that fall under a group of drugs "technically" known as benzodiazepines. Of course, your doctor will simply tell you it's an anti-depressant medication. And these pills are hugely popular. You can even buy them over the Internet without a prescription. In some countries, you can literally buy them over the counter with no prescription at all. And the reason these pills are so popular is... They Do Alleviate Depression! If you are feeling depressed, just swallow one of these little pills and,in less than 20 minutes, your depression will begin to fade. So, this innocent looking anti-depression pill is the perfect solution to your depression problems, right? Wrong! See, this "innocent" looking pill is now considered by many health-care experts to be the cause of... The Biggest And Most Dangerous Drug-Addiction Problem In The World! Like I said this pill (for most people) works. Actually, that's not entirely true. What it does extremely effectively is "mask" your depression state. Of course, it would be great if this little sucker of a pill could be used on a truly "as needed" basis. But, alas, it seems this "innocent" looking pill has gotten the better of hundreds of thousands (probably millions) of people around the globe. Here is how that is so: It's not that the pill is addictive in the typical sense; the way, say, when you overdose on heroin, cocaine... or... amphetamines. No. The problem occurs when... after a few weeks of taking this pill, you decide, "Hey, I don't want to become dependent on these anti-depressants any more. I'm going to ditch them for a while." And... That's When The Nightmare Really Begins! You see — your body very quickly (sometimes in just a few weeks) becomes dependent on those innocent looking anti-depression pills. And when that happens, as quickly as 4 to 8 hours after you decide to stop taking those pills... you will begin to experience depression, anxiety and panic like you wouldn't believe -- it will be far, far worse than it ever was before you started popping these pills. And that's when you come to realize the cold-hard truth that... You Are Now "Hooked" On This Deadly Drug! And deadly drug is no exaggeration. See, the longer you try to kick these pills "cold turkey"... the more intense your depression, anxiety and panic will become. So much so, people (just like you) have been known to commit suicide because of the "come down" after taking anti-depression pills. That's the bad news. The good news is, when you pop that free dissolving depression CD I'd like to send you into your CD player and listen to it... you are going to be guided (very gently) through an experimental process which will eliminate all depression from your life. Look: Let's say that before you listen to the CD I am going to send you; on a scale of 1 (very low)to 10 (extremely high) your depression meter is "maxed out" at 10. Here's what will happen: As you relax, listen and follow along with the experimental process explained on the CD... what you will discover will utterly stun you. Because in the short time it takes to listen to that CD... your " depression barometer" will have...

Mirtazapine Withdrawal
This video is a final update on the Mirtazapine experience. It is a guide for anyone who wants to stop this medication and to see that it does eventually end. My last dose was 3 weeks ago and its been cold turkey ever since. There have been many times where I thought the side effects would continue forever but that is not the case. I came off Mirtazapine really quickly and I haven't really experienced any of the far fetching withdrawals many people complain about. This could be because I am taking an additional anti depressant and I just don't notice the symptoms. All in all, I just want to say there is a light at the end of the tunnel. With any medication. I also talk about marijuana a bit and how it played a part in some of the paranoia I experienced. I still don't know if that was good or bad but you'll see.

6 yrs psych drug free: How I made it through the darkest times of protracted withdrawal syndrome
For more see the post on Beyond Meds: http://beyondmeds.com/2016/02/09/6years-off/ Today is my anniversary off a huge psych drug cocktail I'd been on for 20 years. Below the video I made for this occasion is a cut and paste collection of the now 6 years documented since the also six year withdrawal process. http://beyondmeds.com/2010/01/10/recap-6-drugs-6-years-2/ In the video I speak to the inner resources that kept me going. I want to add here that I also was privileged to have a safe home and 24/7 hour care when I was bedridden and unable to leave the house for anything at all. Both the home and the care were provided for me by my husband. No one else in my life, including most of my close family had a clue what we were dealing with. I have to believe if they did they would have done more. The fact is there is nothing in society to help those who love us to understand what we are going through. There is a general denial by the medical establishment that this can even happen. This is something I’ve mostly been able to forgive but I don’t necessarily feel ready to spend much time with most of my family either. My mother is an exception here…she stayed in touch with my husband throughout the whole thing and was willing to do what she could. Indeed she often helped us stay afloat financially, which was, of course, critically important to staying alive. (I couldn’t speak very well for a couple of years so communicating by phone was out) So, my husband and I came through this together. There were many times I would have preferred to be alone given how heinously isolating this experience was simply by nature of the fact that no one can even begin to fathom what we are going through… This fact was painful for both me and Paul in different ways. For more info see: The isolation and sense of abandonment many people deal with when sick with protracted withdrawal illness. http://wp.me/P5nnb-3xy Those of us who have experienced protracted psychiatric drug withdrawal syndromes will always be the only ones who can give each other that acknowledgment. And it’s likely we will continue to freak out pretty much everyone around us when it’s at it’s worst. Anyway, the fact is I would be dead without Paul’s care and so that needs to be made clear as well. He has a deep trust and faith in life too and I wouldn’t have made it without his unusual ability to maintain that in the face of what I went through. Most people would have had me institutionalized, where I certainly would have died. It is a miracle that my husband could hold this space for me. Seriously a miracle. Most folks who come off these drugs don’t become as totally disabled as I did and can still leave the house etc. Not so for me and so, yes, my husband literally kept me alive and provided the space for me to literally disintegrate so that I could come back together again as well. One other person was a visitor during those darkest times. A woman who has become my dear friend. Sent to me from a volunteer organization to give me reiki, she could stand being with me as a witness when no one else could. Mary Joy had spent time as a chaplain in hospice and so knew how to be with people in pain. She told me once that she hadn’t seen another human being in all her time as chaplain who had to go through such an ordeal. She was completely serious. Having myself worked in hospice I know this to be true as well. It wasn’t something I would ever have concluded on my own, but since she said it and it rings true (I’ve worked in hospice too), I share it here now. Do SSRI's cause sexual dysfunction?
Pre-order My New Book Today! ARE YOU OK? http://bit.ly/2s0mULy Thanks to Vlogbrothers for their sponsorship of this video!! Many of you have asked me about SSRI's or SNRI's and sexual dysfunction. I know that this is a concern for many people because sex is normal part of life for many of us. I broke this video down into a conversation about 3 main neurotransmitters that are believed to be involved in sexual dysfunction. They are: serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Each of these neurotransmitters could in some way play a role in our ability to be interested in sex, be able to have sex, or our ability to achieve an orgasm. Obviously everyone's experience with medication is going to be different, but I hope that this video helps explain why sexual dysfunction happens on some medication and what questions you should ask your doctor when talking about medication or starting a new one. xox WEBSITE http://www.katimorton.com TWITTER http://www.twitter.com/katimorton FACEBOOK http://www.facebook.com/katimorton1 TUMBLR http://www.katimorton.tumblr.com PINTEREST http://www.pinterest.com/katimorton1 HELP! Mental health update | Severe withdrawal symptoms | Nov 16
After getting so low to the point that I had starting self harming again and felt myself becoming lower and lower, I rang the doctors in a plea for help. I was signed off work as unfit for work - advised to stop my Sertraline completely and start up with my new Mirtazapine that night. That was over a week ago, I slept most of last week as I could barely keep my eyes open and if I could I didn't see the point in being awake or I was too dizzy to do anything. The drowsiness has subsided however the vertigo only seems to be getting worse to the point where its making me sick. I'm supposed to be starting back at work next week but I honestly don't think I can with the way things are going as they are, I could compromise patient safety if I'm still in this dizzy confused state with extreme low mood and anxiety. I honestly don't know how longer I can cope being like this.

Talking Mental Illness & My Decision to Toss My Anti Depressants, Effexor Venlafaxine - Cold Turkey
This is a video I did when I first attempted to quit Effexor.. it is real and not fake... pretty scary! My Horrible Nightmares - Recorded Live - Effexor Medication Withdrawal & Brain Zaps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqoV_... Info on not taking Venafaxine and the possible adverse side effects Venlafaxine is a widely used serotonin- and norepinephrine-reuptake inhibitor-type antidepressant that causes serious adverse effects in at least 5% of cases. Serious withdrawal symptoms may occur within hours of cessation or reduction of the usual dosage and may affect motor and coordination skills to such a degree that patients should be explicitly urged either to adhere to a strict medication routine or not to drive a car. Recent clinical evidence about withdrawal symptoms is presented that may indicate incidents in noradrenergic activity irrespective of dosage. Serotonin, Noradrenaline Withdrawal Venlafaxine hydrochloride (Effexor, Dobupal) is a phenylethylamine-derivative antidepressant and anxiolytic agent that acts as a serotonin- and noradrenaline-reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It is used primarily in major depressive disorder, with labeled uses including generalized anxiety disorder and social phobia. Nonlabeled uses include depressive symptom remission, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and chronic pain syndromes. Most selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) and SSNRIs are reported to cause serious adverse effects in approximately 5% of patients, according to its manufacturer.[1] Venlafaxine is no exception. Among the adverse effects are a number of withdrawal symptoms that form "discontinuance syndromes," sometimes mistakenly identified with what Sternbach in 1991 proposed as the "serotonin syndrome".[2] Venlafaxine's half-life is only 4 hours. Its primary metabolite, O-desmethylvenlafaxine, has a half-life of 10 hours. In the past 10 years, a number of clinical reports of severe venlafaxine withdrawal symptoms have been published, and for the most part these effects are duly reflected in generally available information. Widely consulted drug information services, such as Medscape DrugInfo, American Hospital Formulary Service Drug Information, and First DataBank, list the following withdrawal symptoms as "serious": agitation, anorexia, anxiety, confusion, impaired coordination, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, dysphoric mood, fasciculation, fatigue, headaches, hypomania, insomnia, nausea, nervousness, nightmares, sensory disturbances (including shock-like electrical sensations), somnolence, sweating, tremor, vertigo, and vomiting. Recent Case Histories: Withdrawal Effects Are Not Dose-Dependent Case 1: Standard Dose. Female, white, age 35, no other pathologies, diagnosed for major depressive disorder with anger attacks. Treated with extended-release venlafaxine 150 mg for 4 months with concurrent psychotherapy, with positive results: Beck's Depression Inventory score reduced from 38 to 14; functionality restored. The patient ran out of medication on a Thursday and could not get in touch with her doctor until the next Monday. On Friday, only 12 hours after the usual time of taking the medication, she felt a noticeable change in mood, dizziness, and nausea. She experienced a sensation in her head as if electrical discharges "popped" and could not concentrate to the extent that she was unable to drive her car back from where she had gone. By Friday evening (18 hours after cessation), the "popping" in her head had become worse and she vomited after dinner. Depression symptoms reappeared acutely, and she could not stop crying. At first, she did not equate these symptoms to the missed dose of venlafaxine, but thought she might have contracted the flu. However, the symptoms continued and intensified over the weekend and only reduced when, on Monday, she started again on venlafaxine. She was inadvertently given the lower dose of 75 mg, which did not quite restore her mood to the previous level, although the "electrical popping" sensation in her head stopped and the nausea was reduced. Case 2: High Dose. (Provided by J. Garcia Campayo, MD, PhD, Dept of Psychiatry, Miguel Servet Hospital, University of Zaragoza, Spain) Female, white, age 43, first diagnosis of major depressive disorder of moderate intensity; maternal history of depressive disorder. Successfully treated with 225 mg of venlafaxine (75-75-75) for 12 months with no adverse effects. The patient decided she could do without the medication and stopped taking it abruptly. Withdrawal effects appeared within a day and included headaches, dizziness, and instability, with a sense of losing balance (although she did not actually fall down), sense of sparks and electrical discharges in her head, and intense anxiety. When treatment at the original level was reinstated and progressively reduced over a period of 2 weeks, the symptoms disappeared. Seems like i missed a chunk of the story. Since being back on anti-depressants, for the second time, they haven't had much effect. They sort of just dull my emotions abit. But not just the bad emotions, but the good ones aswell. Ada v Ativan - 1988 ITV - Benzodiazepine Documentary (Xanax, Klonopin, Valium)
Benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome—often abbreviated to benzo withdrawal—is the cluster of symptoms that emerge when a person who has taken benzodiazepines, either medically or recreationally, and has developed a physical dependence undergoes dosage reduction or discontinuation. Development of physical dependence and/or addiction and the resulting withdrawal symptoms, some of which may last for years, may result from either drug-seeking behaviors or from taking the medication as prescribed. Benzodiazepine withdrawal is characterized by sleep disturbance, irritability, increased tension and anxiety, panic attacks, hand tremor, sweating, difficulty with concentration, confusion and cognitive difficulty, memory problems, dry retching and nausea, weight loss, palpitations, headache, muscular pain and stiffness, a host of perceptual changes, hallucinations, seizures, psychosis,[1] and suicide[2][3] (see "Signs and Symptoms" section below for full list). Further, these symptoms are notable for the manner in which they wax and wane and vary in severity from day to day or week by week instead of steadily decreasing in a straightforward monotonic manner.[4] It is a potentially serious condition, and is complex and often protracted in time course.[5][6] Long-term use, defined as daily use for at least three months,[7] is not desirable because of the associated increased risk of dependence,[8] dose escalation, loss of efficacy, increased risk of accidents and falls, particularly for the elderly,[9] as well as cognitive,[10] neurological, and intellectual impairments.[11] Use of short-acting hypnotics, while being effective at initiating sleep, worsen the second half of sleep due to withdrawal effects.[12] Nevertheless, long-term users of benzodiazepines should not be forced to withdraw against their will.[5] Benzodiazepine withdrawal can be severe and can provoke life-threatening withdrawal symptoms, such as seizures,[13] particularly with abrupt or overly rapid dosage reduction from high doses or long time users.[5] A severe withdrawal response can nevertheless occur despite gradual dose reduction, or from relatively low doses in short time users,[14] even after a single large dose in animal models.[15][16] A minority of individuals will experience a protracted withdrawal syndrome whose symptoms may persist at a sub-acute level for months, or years after cessation of benzodiazepines. The likelihood of developing a protracted withdrawal syndrome can be minimized by a slow, gradual reduction in dosage.[17] Chronic exposure to benzodiazepines causes neural adaptations that counteract the drug's effects, leading to tolerance and dependence.[18] Despite taking a constant therapeutic dose, long-term use of benzodiazepines may lead to the emergence of withdrawal-like symptoms, particularly between doses.[19] When the drug is discontinued or the dosage reduced, withdrawal symptoms may appear and remain until the body reverses the physiological adaptations.[20] These rebound symptoms may be identical to the symptoms for which the drug was initially taken, or may be part of discontinuation symptoms.[21] In severe cases, the withdrawal reaction may exacerbate or resemble serious psychiatric and medical conditions, such as mania, schizophrenia, and, especially at high doses, seizure disorders.[22] Failure to recognize discontinuation symptoms can lead to false evidence for the need to take benzodiazepines, which in turn leads to withdrawal failure and reinstatement of benzodiazepines, often to higher doses.[22] Awareness of the withdrawal reactions, individualized taper strategies according to withdrawal severity, the addition of alternative strategies such as reassurance and referral to benzodiazepine withdrawal support groups, all increase the success rate of withdrawal.[23][24] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine_withdrawal_syndrome https://books.google.com/books?id=t9-vA3jzMhYC&pg=PA211&lpg=PA211&dq=ada+vs+ativan&source=bl&ots=ZM5nt_T0bg&sig=tJAIfPgOu8RRQfXiL5xCqZ9mgn0&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjM1tCftJvXAhXl44MKHZx1BgUQ6AEIRjAF#v=onepage&q=ada%20vs%20ativan&f=false https://www.benzoinfo.com/

We Don't Know How Antidepressants Work - Neuroscience Talk
One in ten Americans are on antidepressants. But scientists don't even really know how they work (beyond the immediate effects). So in this little talk, I'll explain to you a few explanations for how antidepressants (reuptake-inhibitors specifically) work. I hope you guys enjoy this talk! The brain and the neuron are such fascinating things. When I was working as a journalist, I would sometimes take St. John's Wort because I was so anxious. Eventually, I had to stop because it had a bad bounce-back effect where I would get really angry after the effects wore off. That's my experience with antidepressants. Thank goodness I never tried the SSRI (aka "Third Generation" antidepressants). GLAXOSMITHKLINE Seroxat depletes serotonin and dopamine "SIR"
Put on Full Screen mode and pause and read. I was on Seroxat for 13 years. I could never get off it because I was addicted to it and the withdrawal effects are horrendous. While on it, I always had delayed orgasm but, in 2008, I became 100% sexually dysfunctional. At the same time, I became totally emotionally numb leaving me unable to feel love for anyone or anything. A doctor finally whipped me off it in 2010 and since then, I have chronic insomnia. I never in my life had these problems prior to taking Seroxat. I feel nothing for the people I once loved. I am unable to feel love for anyone. Being on Seroxat for 13 years has destroyed my brain and body and you will see just how in this video. I have no fight or flight responses and never experience rushes of adrenalin or anxiety. My adrenal glands are destroyed and there is something going on with my adrenalin etc. You can try telling this to your doctor if you feel you too have this but not everyone is on Seroxat 13 years and the cases are few. We are a minority. Try telling your family and they may not believe you. They will tell you your depression has come back or worse things. I am unable to feel love etc because my serotonin and dopamine have been depleted. I never took cocaine or illegal drugs. I was like this first and then found the information - not the other way round. No history of schizophrenia etc....was put on Seroxat at age 19 after a friend was involved in a car accident. Now off Seroxat and severely brain damaged. Since 2008, I can't experience emotions, climax or sleep. My life is destroyed.
