Antidepressant withdrawal symptoms (Lexapro)

04:35
Antidepressant withdrawal symptoms can occur when antidepressants are suddenly stopped. Make sure to always continue your medication as long as a doctor prescribes it. Just because you are feeling better doesn't mean you can stop your medication. Talk to your doctor about it before making any decisions. I am not a doctor and any symptom that I may have may be completely different for you. Contact your doctor if you have questions about withdrawal symptoms. As someone who has major depressive disorder, playing video games is a way for me to cope. I also enjoy making let's plays because it helps me work on my speaking and it pushes me out of my comfort zone to actually do something when I'm depressed. I also talk a little about my depression and medications I take, but I don't go into major details. I hope that you enjoy my videos and channel! - - - - - - - - - -

Antidepressants Make it Harder to Empathize, Harder to Climax, and Harder to Cry.

06:51
Dr. Julie Holland argues that women are designed by nature to be dynamic and sensitive – women are moody and that is a good thing. Yet millions of women are medicating away their emotions because we are out of sync with our own bodies and we are told that moodiness is a problem to be fixed. One in four women takes a psychiatric drug. If you add sleeping pills to the mix the statistics become higher. Overprescribed medications can have far-reaching consequences for women in many areas of our lives: sex, relationships, sleep, eating, focus, balance, and aging. Dr. Holland's newest book is titled Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking, the Sleep You’re Missing, the Sex You’re Not Having and What’s Really Making You Crazy. Read more at BigThink.com: http://goo.gl/O8uR Follow Big Think here: YouTube: http://goo.gl/CPTsV5 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BigThinkdotcom Twitter: https://twitter.com/bigthink Transcript: The main kind of antidepressant that is the most popularly prescribed are the SSRIs and these are medicines that increase serotonin transmission. And when you start to push on the doses of these SSRIs you start to lose some sort of quintessential feminine things. First of all it becomes much hard to climax and it becomes much, much harder to cry. But you also see decreases in empathy, in sensitivity, in passion. The simple way of thinking about an SSRI is that you have two brain cells and one is a pitcher and one is a catcher. So pitch, catch. Pitch, catch. So this nerve cell is throwing serotonin across and this one is catching it. What the medicines do is they block the recycling back into the pitcher. So, you know, I’m throwing, I’m throwing, some of this gets caught, some of it gets dropped. It just doesn’t get over there but I’ll suck it back in and try again. So if you block the recycling more is in the middle to get across. So there’s more, you know, the space between the nerve cells is called the synapse. If you block the recycling of the serotonin into the releasing cell more is available for the catching cell. So it ends up enhancing the transmission. How enhanced serotonergic transmission translates into feeling better and feeling less anxious is much more complicated. But, you know, the simplistic way to think about it is that if you have higher levels of serotonin, if your transmission is better you will be more relaxed and more happy. It’s a little easier to smile. It’s a little harder to cry. So, you know, I’ve had patients come to me and say, you know, I’ve tried antidepressants before but they always made me feel like a zombie or they didn’t make me feel like myself. Or I had a patient who said like I cut my finger and I looked down and I saw that it was bleeding and I saw that it was my blood but I didn’t really feel like connected to my finger or the blood. You know, things like that that are really, really worrisome. Or I’ve had patients say, you know, I was in this situation where I knew I should be crying and I couldn’t cry. And, you know, I felt terrible that I couldn’t express that emotion to bond with my friend or something like that. So these antidepressants do scale back a lot of expression of emotion and feeling emotion even sort of thinking emotional thoughts. If you’re terribly depressed and you need antidepressants to get out of bed and function and go to work I get it. That’s one thing. But what I’m worried about is more and more women deciding to go on antidepressants because their friends are doing it and that’s what’s, you know, more and more women who are at work are taking these SSRIs so that they cannot cry, not get flustered, keep going forward. You know I think it jives with this sort of forward momentum agenda that so many of us have and especially in the workplace. But, you know, I would say at what cost? You know it is true that SSRIs can help you get ahead and there have been really interesting animal studies where, you know, the primates who are on SSRIs ascended up the dominance hierarchy. And the ones who became dominated over got stressed out and had lower serotonin levels. So there does seem to be some component of serotonin affecting dominance hierarchies and, you know, the ability to move ahead or to lean in. So I totally get that there are advantages to being on an SSRI in the workplace. But, you’re going to miss out on knowing what’s right because you feel it or being hurt by what somebody said and showing them that you’re hurt. And so that person can learn that their behavior has emotional consequences for other people. So and it changes the whole sort of tone of the workplace. There’s going to be less accountability and less sort of calling people on their misbehavior if you’re not even feeling that anyone misbehaved. [TRANSCRIPT TRUNCATED]

6 yrs psych drug free: How I made it through the darkest times of protracted withdrawal syndrome

12:17
For more see the post on Beyond Meds: http://beyondmeds.com/2016/02/09/6years-off/ Today is my anniversary off a huge psych drug cocktail I'd been on for 20 years. Below the video I made for this occasion is a cut and paste collection of the now 6 years documented since the also six year withdrawal process. http://beyondmeds.com/2010/01/10/recap-6-drugs-6-years-2/ In the video I speak to the inner resources that kept me going. I want to add here that I also was privileged to have a safe home and 24/7 hour care when I was bedridden and unable to leave the house for anything at all. Both the home and the care were provided for me by my husband. No one else in my life, including most of my close family had a clue what we were dealing with. I have to believe if they did they would have done more. The fact is there is nothing in society to help those who love us to understand what we are going through. There is a general denial by the medical establishment that this can even happen. This is something I’ve mostly been able to forgive but I don’t necessarily feel ready to spend much time with most of my family either. My mother is an exception here…she stayed in touch with my husband throughout the whole thing and was willing to do what she could. Indeed she often helped us stay afloat financially, which was, of course, critically important to staying alive. (I couldn’t speak very well for a couple of years so communicating by phone was out) So, my husband and I came through this together. There were many times I would have preferred to be alone given how heinously isolating this experience was simply by nature of the fact that no one can even begin to fathom what we are going through… This fact was painful for both me and Paul in different ways. For more info see: The isolation and sense of abandonment many people deal with when sick with protracted withdrawal illness. http://wp.me/P5nnb-3xy Those of us who have experienced protracted psychiatric drug withdrawal syndromes will always be the only ones who can give each other that acknowledgment. And it’s likely we will continue to freak out pretty much everyone around us when it’s at it’s worst. Anyway, the fact is I would be dead without Paul’s care and so that needs to be made clear as well. He has a deep trust and faith in life too and I wouldn’t have made it without his unusual ability to maintain that in the face of what I went through. Most people would have had me institutionalized, where I certainly would have died. It is a miracle that my husband could hold this space for me. Seriously a miracle. Most folks who come off these drugs don’t become as totally disabled as I did and can still leave the house etc. Not so for me and so, yes, my husband literally kept me alive and provided the space for me to literally disintegrate so that I could come back together again as well. One other person was a visitor during those darkest times. A woman who has become my dear friend. Sent to me from a volunteer organization to give me reiki, she could stand being with me as a witness when no one else could. Mary Joy had spent time as a chaplain in hospice and so knew how to be with people in pain. She told me once that she hadn’t seen another human being in all her time as chaplain who had to go through such an ordeal. She was completely serious. Having myself worked in hospice I know this to be true as well. It wasn’t something I would ever have concluded on my own, but since she said it and it rings true (I’ve worked in hospice too), I share it here now. How SSRIs (Paxil) Really Messed Me Up

09:46
Paxil, Prozac and Zooloft are all fluoride pills. In 1998 I convinced a psychiatrist to prescribe me Paxil for Social Anxiety Disorder due to Excessive Sweating. Both of these so called diseases were merely the result of a poor diet consisting of too much meat, carbs, sugar, caffiene and alcohol. A truly raw food diet will eliminate excessive sweating and prove your self control resulting in self confidence and personal power. (Also, forgive me for saying Celbrexa. I meant Cymbalta.) http://www.paxilprogress.org http://www.ahrp.org/risks/aldred0404.php http://www.facebook/mtbikemike

Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com. http://fatnews.com/ https://twitter.com/fatnews Short-term randomized trials of older people show that antipsychotics kill one (1) out of every 100 people. Mental health update | Severe withdrawal symptoms | Nov 16

02:28
After getting so low to the point that I had starting self harming again and felt myself becoming lower and lower, I rang the doctors in a plea for help. I was signed off work as unfit for work - advised to stop my Sertraline completely and start up with my new Mirtazapine that night. That was over a week ago, I slept most of last week as I could barely keep my eyes open and if I could I didn't see the point in being awake or I was too dizzy to do anything. The drowsiness has subsided however the vertigo only seems to be getting worse to the point where its making me sick. I'm supposed to be starting back at work next week but I honestly don't think I can with the way things are going as they are, I could compromise patient safety if I'm still in this dizzy confused state with extreme low mood and anxiety. I honestly don't know how longer I can cope being like this.

Ada v Ativan - 1988 ITV - Benzodiazepine Documentary (Xanax, Klonopin, Valium)

33:10
Benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome—often abbreviated to benzo withdrawal—is the cluster of symptoms that emerge when a person who has taken benzodiazepines, either medically or recreationally, and has developed a physical dependence undergoes dosage reduction or discontinuation. Development of physical dependence and/or addiction and the resulting withdrawal symptoms, some of which may last for years, may result from either drug-seeking behaviors or from taking the medication as prescribed. Benzodiazepine withdrawal is characterized by sleep disturbance, irritability, increased tension and anxiety, panic attacks, hand tremor, sweating, difficulty with concentration, confusion and cognitive difficulty, memory problems, dry retching and nausea, weight loss, palpitations, headache, muscular pain and stiffness, a host of perceptual changes, hallucinations, seizures, psychosis,[1] and suicide[2][3] (see "Signs and Symptoms" section below for full list). Further, these symptoms are notable for the manner in which they wax and wane and vary in severity from day to day or week by week instead of steadily decreasing in a straightforward monotonic manner.[4] It is a potentially serious condition, and is complex and often protracted in time course.[5][6] Long-term use, defined as daily use for at least three months,[7] is not desirable because of the associated increased risk of dependence,[8] dose escalation, loss of efficacy, increased risk of accidents and falls, particularly for the elderly,[9] as well as cognitive,[10] neurological, and intellectual impairments.[11] Use of short-acting hypnotics, while being effective at initiating sleep, worsen the second half of sleep due to withdrawal effects.[12] Nevertheless, long-term users of benzodiazepines should not be forced to withdraw against their will.[5] Benzodiazepine withdrawal can be severe and can provoke life-threatening withdrawal symptoms, such as seizures,[13] particularly with abrupt or overly rapid dosage reduction from high doses or long time users.[5] A severe withdrawal response can nevertheless occur despite gradual dose reduction, or from relatively low doses in short time users,[14] even after a single large dose in animal models.[15][16] A minority of individuals will experience a protracted withdrawal syndrome whose symptoms may persist at a sub-acute level for months, or years after cessation of benzodiazepines. The likelihood of developing a protracted withdrawal syndrome can be minimized by a slow, gradual reduction in dosage.[17] Chronic exposure to benzodiazepines causes neural adaptations that counteract the drug's effects, leading to tolerance and dependence.[18] Despite taking a constant therapeutic dose, long-term use of benzodiazepines may lead to the emergence of withdrawal-like symptoms, particularly between doses.[19] When the drug is discontinued or the dosage reduced, withdrawal symptoms may appear and remain until the body reverses the physiological adaptations.[20] These rebound symptoms may be identical to the symptoms for which the drug was initially taken, or may be part of discontinuation symptoms.[21] In severe cases, the withdrawal reaction may exacerbate or resemble serious psychiatric and medical conditions, such as mania, schizophrenia, and, especially at high doses, seizure disorders.[22] Failure to recognize discontinuation symptoms can lead to false evidence for the need to take benzodiazepines, which in turn leads to withdrawal failure and reinstatement of benzodiazepines, often to higher doses.[22] Awareness of the withdrawal reactions, individualized taper strategies according to withdrawal severity, the addition of alternative strategies such as reassurance and referral to benzodiazepine withdrawal support groups, all increase the success rate of withdrawal.[23][24] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine_withdrawal_syndrome https://books.google.com/books?id=t9-vA3jzMhYC&pg=PA211&lpg=PA211&dq=ada+vs+ativan&source=bl&ots=ZM5nt_T0bg&sig=tJAIfPgOu8RRQfXiL5xCqZ9mgn0&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjM1tCftJvXAhXl44MKHZx1BgUQ6AEIRjAF#v=onepage&q=ada%20vs%20ativan&f=false https://www.benzoinfo.com/

How to get rid of SSRIs named Prozac! A success!

15:25
I was taking 20 mg of Prozac every day, being dependant on it for 9 months, and i was able to get off ot the drug in 5 months slowly withdrawing it, weaning off, tapering off, slowly, and each 2-3 weeks I reduced my daily dose 5%-10% (depends individually how very much you are dependant on it, and also it depends what a personality you are, what a chemical reactions in the brain you have, and also what a diet you have and also how long (months or years?!) you are on this drug. This is important, if you have taken it for years, you cannot go off each 2-3 weeks for 10%, no, you must go off each 5-6 weeks just 5% of your daily dose. So if you have taken Prozac for 3 or 5 or even 10 years, (well, if 10 years, it might be for some weaker 20% of people irreversible, and they are becoming lifetime patients, but dont be desperate and dont lose your hope, it is usually possible to get off even in this long term case, but it takes a time, a long time! If you are on it for long years, well, go off of the drug extremely slowly, each 2 months go down 5% of your dose, not more, then adapt your brain on that dose, and then, when you are already OK with the new daily dose, then live on it for 4-8 weeks (longer is better) and then go off of your daily dose another 5%,and I promise, in 1-3 years you will be ok without negative symptoms after discontinuing. Another info in another video - part II.

SSRI Antidepressants - Recovery Advice 2

13:08
Only follow this advice if you have been off of antidepressants for a couple of months!!! This is not me on the video. http://www.jimstonefreelance.com/testimony1.html If you laughed and giggled all the time, you were living your life in an emotional mode, and everything you did and thought was wired through your emotions. You were "in touch with yourself". Therfore, when Celexa attacked your emotional centers it knocked you off your feet because damage to that part of you - which had everything you did wired through it, would not go un noticed. Due to differences in preferences and life experiences, people's brains get wired differently, so a highly logical engineer or programmer would probably not have their work be affected if random antidepressant C. blew away their ability to love and laugh. Obviously you won't find this written anywhere, but it is simple common sense. What to do about it - I cannot tell you how likely you are to recover from this without knowing the dosage and how long you were on Cymbalta. I will say that Cymbalta is one of the nasty ones, one step short of Wellbutrin, which is the worst. As the "antidepressants" progressed in development, they became faster at blowing out emotional centers, the old ones like Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft typically took 9 months to destroy someone (and often failed to entirely), but the newer ones are faster and far more likely to be "effective". Your world was shattered because you lived it inside what the "antidepressant" was designed to destroy, and yet the positive side to this is that you can actually feel the damage, and if you were totally wiped out from it there would only be deadness and silence. SO, chances are you were not on it for very long and that you will be able to get over it. If you have a chance, this is how to make it happen: 1. SALT EVERYTHING. Not with fancy stuff, I mean your basic IODIZED Morton salt. Salt it as much as it tastes good, if the salt tastes icky it is too much. If it tastes good, you need it. Regulating your salt intake is as simple as that. 2. Get calcium. Lots of it. Cymbalta is nasty with this - when your brain is being overworked, which antidepressants are designed to do until parts of the brain die from overexertion, your brain DEMANDS calcium and will rob it from everywhere in your body in it's fight for survival. This is why antidepressants cause osteo porosis. Your brain knows it is more important than your bones, so it uses your bones to get what it needs to survive. Calcium builds up in the brain when people are on antidepressants, often so much that it leaves stony lesions scattered throughout the brain and predominantly in the frontal lobes. So there is no doubt you are calcium depleted, and if you do not take direct steps to address this you will remain foggy. A glass of milk will not cut it, you need calcium supplements. Coral calcium is the best. 3. Get vitamin C, which will help with absorption of calcium, and your brain needs it anyway. You will notice a big change from the first 3 within a week. Long term healing - Get lots of omega 3 oils. Eat lots of walnuts, eggs, and almonds. Avoid margarine and eat butter instead. Nice salty buttery eggs. YUM, and a prescription for recovery. Eat lots of CHICKEN. If you like spicy hot, eat it because capscasin makes the blood flow better. While eating a diet of primarily meats, nuts, eggs and fish, with veggies thrown in (especially IDAHO POTATOES, which have tons of trace minerals because of the soil they are grown in) and carbohydrates a distant second (Idaho potatoes will fill that void), AVOID: NEVER eat artificial sweeteners, gum, Cambpells soup, Lean Cuisine or any other crap. The elite have intentionally sabotaged our foods and the best way to know if something is safe is to look for a circled U on the package. This is their most common symbol for safe food, food that has not been poisoned. This is not a joke. Always look for the circled U and if it is not there, DO NOT EAT IT. SO, this knocks out - All Campbells soups, and most other canned soup. It knocks out Ramen noodles, Michelenas, and Chef Boyardee. Forget about McDonalds, Wendy's and Jack in the box. This is not a complete list - I can't name all the intentionally poisoned foods, just look for the circled U. Also a triangle around a K, but in America the circled U is most common. You can take two products, one with the circled U, and one without it, and even though the ingredients listed are exactly the same, the one without the U will send you into a fog.

GLAXOSMITHKLINE Seroxat depletes serotonin and dopamine "SIR"

05:24
Put on Full Screen mode and pause and read. I was on Seroxat for 13 years. I could never get off it because I was addicted to it and the withdrawal effects are horrendous. While on it, I always had delayed orgasm but, in 2008, I became 100% sexually dysfunctional. At the same time, I became totally emotionally numb leaving me unable to feel love for anyone or anything. A doctor finally whipped me off it in 2010 and since then, I have chronic insomnia. I never in my life had these problems prior to taking Seroxat. I feel nothing for the people I once loved. I am unable to feel love for anyone. Being on Seroxat for 13 years has destroyed my brain and body and you will see just how in this video. I have no fight or flight responses and never experience rushes of adrenalin or anxiety. My adrenal glands are destroyed and there is something going on with my adrenalin etc. You can try telling this to your doctor if you feel you too have this but not everyone is on Seroxat 13 years and the cases are few. We are a minority. Try telling your family and they may not believe you. They will tell you your depression has come back or worse things. I am unable to feel love etc because my serotonin and dopamine have been depleted. I never took cocaine or illegal drugs. I was like this first and then found the information - not the other way round. No history of schizophrenia etc....was put on Seroxat at age 19 after a friend was involved in a car accident. Now off Seroxat and severely brain damaged. Since 2008, I can't experience emotions, climax or sleep. My life is destroyed.
