Full Episode | Flights And Fights - Inside The Low Cost Airline | BBC Documentary

49:53
The inside story of the low cost airlines is a tale of big characters and big money. Ryanair's Michael O'Leary and EasyJet's Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou opened up new frontiers in the aviation industry as their airlines offered cheap flights to a vast range of popular and alternative destinations. As the cost of flying keeps increasing, how much further can these companies grow? Stelios, EasyJet's biggest shareholder, is trying to halt its expansion, while O'Leary has just placed a massive order for new planes. This documentary tells the incredible true story of how low cost flight was born, shining a light on the main players' history, their ethos, their business strategy and their outlandish publicity stunts. Europe's BEST REGIONAL airline? FLY BMI Embraer from Bristol, UK to Paris CDG France flight review

10:52
bmi regional is certainly not the largest airline in Europe but since 2012, the airline has managed to re-structure its network, identify routes meeting needs from the local business communities and expand its activities to more than 35 destinations across Europe. I really enjoyed the "all inclusive" approach of this airline so no nasty surprise when it comes to the total price Bristol is a major base for bmi regional (also known as flybmi.com since Dec 2017) with routes to Aberdeen, Brussels, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Milan (Malpensa), Munich and Paris (CDG). I believe that at the time of publishing this video is the first flight review for this airline on the BRS to CDG route. Its fleet only consists on Embraer regional jets (ERJ-135 and 145) enabling to fill a gap in a market left by the large legacy airlines and low cost carriers. Aircraft for this flight is G-RJXB bmi regional is not part of any alliance but has partnerships code share agreements (with Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines). Transfers to Bristol Airport from Bristol city centre: https://flyer.bristolairport.co.uk/ The Bristol Airport Flyer Express leaves from Bristol coach station. BMI Regional Embraer ERJ-145 | Munich to Southampton *Full Flight*

45:44
This video is property of Train_PlaneHub, "RachaelMatt" 1080p HD! Something a little different. Out of all the available flights and routes to choose, I chose this one. A nice change to get myself back on an Embraer Jet and into a brand new airport for me as well, Southampton! This was flight BM1767 operated by BMI Regional with codeshare partner Lufthansa. A great flight, wasn't full too so managed to spread out and move around a bit. Some great views during the descent and approach. Passed just south of Central London allowing for the great views of the capital. Then straight over the top of Southampton airport itself, all the way over the city and circled back round for landing on RWY02. Little bit gusty during the final approach, you can hear the engines spooling up and down quite a lot during the last few minutes of flight. Very impressed with Southampton airport. Straight off of plane, through security and on the train station platform within quite literally 2 or 3 minutes! FLIGHT DETAILS: Aircraft: Embraer Jet ERJ-145 Reg: G-RJXM Seat: 17F Flight Number: BM1767 Date: 5th October 2016 Departure Time: 17:50 Departure Runway: RWY08L Arrival Runway: RWY02 Flight Duration: 1 hour 40mins (approx.) Cruising Alt: 36,000ft (FL360) Route: MUC-SOU So yeah a pleasant change from the more common Airbus or Boeing flights I do. Like being on a little bizjet, some great views and sound too! Thanks for watching COMMENT, THUMBS UP, FAVOURITE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE!!

Your airport: your views

01:14
This was the start of the conversation about our future development. The consultation ran between 16 November 2017 and 26 January 2018 and sought opinions on our priorities and initial concepts for developing the airport. The feedback we received is now being analysed and will help inform the draft master plan, which will be published with a public consultation in Spring 2018.

Birmingham Airport 2nd runway & UK Central Proposal

05:34
Midlands Today broadcast on 7th June 2013 about Birmingham Airport's 50 year plan, which includes a new terminal called UK central and a second runway. Birmingham airport could become 'European hub' Birmingham Airport will give its recommendations to Sir Howard Davies on Monday Continue reading the main story Related Stories Regional aviation plan up in the air Airport launches new European routes Work starts on aircraft hangar Birmingham Airport has the potential to become a hub serving north-west Europe, a West Midlands MP has said. The airport will unveil details of a 50-year plan for growth when it submits recommendations to the commission examining UK airport policy next week. Proposals include another terminal, incorporating HS2, and a second runway. MP Mark Garnier said the airport could make a "global" statement, but a Solihull councillor said proposals have been drawn up by "economic dinosaurs". Managers at the airport, where work is being carried out to extend its runway, are due to submit plans to the commission headed by Sir Howard Davies on Monday.

Linking Airports to Transportation Planning

01:38:22
1-18-2013 THIS WEBCAST AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING ONLY, NOT APPLICABLE FOR AICP CM CREDITS. Presenters: Lisan Harmon, David Dietz, and Derek Kantar According to the FAA, 98% of the population of the U.S. lives within 20 miles of a NPIAS airport. But despite this geographic distribution of air service, air travel is rarely a standalone travel event and access to air transportation varies dramatically nationwide. Most air travelers rely on private automobiles as their primary mode of ground access to airports nationwide, and only 35% of commercial service airports are served by public transportation. Only 27 of our nation's busy airports are served rail service. The proposed webinar will explore the connection between aviation and other travel modes, and the challenges that airports and their communities face when integrating airports into regional transportation systems and nearby communities. We will provide background that transportation planners need to know when embarking on transportation planning or site development projects that involve direct or indirect connections with airports or federally obligated airport property. Specific topics to be covered during the seminar include: • Types of NPIAS Airports (Primary, non-primary commercial service, reliever airports, and GA Airports) • Important services provided by airports to nearby communities, and the role of surface transportation in supporting those services • Key considerations when planning transportation facilities near airports (landside and airside considerations). The webinar will describe the physical constraints associated with development near airports, such as the placement of roads and interchanges, or other surface transportation in landside areas, airspace considerations, and security considerations associated with transportation/modal connections. We will also touch upon funding incentives (and disincentives) for bringing modal service to airports. We will discuss airports and travel trends, and provide a brief intermodal forecast to identify the type of airports that are most likely to eligible for transit development.

British Airways have one of the most accessible, but least aspirational First Class products on the market. My return fare (Stockholm-London-Houston and return) cost a shade under £1000, in business class - I upgraded into First using Avios. This will be the last in a series of videos featuring BA First Class. That said, my flight was very pleasant, despite the obvious corner-cutting now endemic at British Airways. I’ve just spent the last of my Avios on a Cathay Pacific First Class ultra long haul between Hong Kong and JFK, and that will mark the end of my relationship with BA and Avios. Going forward there will be a lot more focus on non-aligned and unusual airlines. In this video though, enjoy the simple pleasure of travelling smoothly and calmly across the Atlantic, with three course meals and a flat bed. Enjoy the report. Do you have any ideas for future trip reports? Something you've never seen on YouTube before? Why not suggest it to me in the comments? Classic A320 BUZZSAW SOUND: Royal Brunei rocketing out of Brunei towards Jakarta! [AirClips]

02:07
Royal Brunei Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Brunei Darussalam, headquartered in the RB Plaza in Bandar Seri Begawan. It is wholly owned by the government of Brunei. Its hub is Brunei International Airport in Berakas, just to the north of Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. Formed in 1974 with an initial fleet of two Boeing 737-200 aircraft, serving Singapore, Hong Kong, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, Royal Brunei Airlines now operates to 16 destinations in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. Its fleet and type numbers increased dramatically in the 1990s. Royal Brunei Airlines was established on 18 November 1974 with two new Boeing 737-200s. The airline's maiden voyage was on 14 May 1975 from the newly built Brunei International Airport to Singapore. Flights to the then British colony of Hong Kong and the city of Kota Kinabalu and Kuching in East Malaysia (Malaysian Borneo) started the same day. Early route expansion included services to Manila in 1976, and Bangkok in 1977. Three years later, Royal Brunei acquired a Boeing 737-200QC – its third Boeing 737 – enabling it to reach Kuala Lumpur in 1981 and Darwin in 1983. After the independence of Brunei from the United Kingdom on 1 January in 1984, services commenced to Jakarta on 3 January, thus linking all five ASEAN capital cities at the time – Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Singapore – from Brunei. Three Boeing 757-200s were purchased in the mid-1980s to enable the airline to expand to Taipei in 1986 and Dubai in 1988. They were also used on existing high-capacity routes to Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur; after the introduction of the 757, its smaller sibling was phased out. In 1990, Royal Brunei began its first flight to Europe when services started to Frankfurt am Main via Bangkok and Dubai. Services to London Gatwick Airport commenced in 1990 via Singapore and Dubai, and changed to London Heathrow Airport in 1991, by which time services were inaugurated to Perth and to Jeddah via Dubai. On 21 June 2012, Royal Brunei Airlines announced that the company was implementing a plan to improve its operations, financial "performance" and customer service experience, Ground operations for all airports. As part of the plan, services to Auckland, Brisbane, Perth and Ho Chi Minh City were suspended effective after the last scheduled flights of October 2012. Flights to Kuching were suspended after the last scheduled flight of July 2012. The airline leased two additional Airbus A320s in 2013, together with five Boeing 787s to strengthen and revitalise its regional network and international routes respectively. The first of the five Boeing 787s, with registration number V8-DLA, was delivered on 4 October 2013. All of its Boeing 787 aircraft are powered by the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines. On 18 October 2013, the Bandar Seri Begawan - Singapore service was used as the 787's inaugural flight. Flights to London Heathrow via Dubai using the 787s started on 2 December 2013. On 6 November 2013, Royal Brunei Airlines outlined plans to offer a "100% Dreamliner service" on all of its long haul routes. The airline at that time considered Southern India for its next airline expansion. RB, which operated four Airbus A320s and two Airbus A319s as of November 2013, also planned to expand its short-haul aircraft fleet to "double digits". The airline looked at plans to purchase current-generation Boeing 737s or Airbus A320s. These short-haul aircraft might also be used on flights to Australia as part of its future expansion plan. RB resumed flights to Bali four times a week starting July 2014. Effective 17 October 2014, RB resumed flights to Ho Chi Minh City four times a week, as it looked to use the destination to connect with key regional and international markets. The Airbus A320 family consists of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger twin-engine jet airliners manufactured by Airbus. The family includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321, as well as the ACJ business jet. The A320s are also named A320ceo (current engine option) after the introduction of the A320neo (new engine option). Final assembly of the family takes place in Toulouse, France, and Hamburg, Germany. A plant in Tianjin, China, has also been producing aircraft for Chinese airlines since 2009, while a final assembly facility in Mobile, Alabama, United States, delivered its first A321 in April 2016. The aircraft family can accommodate up to 236 passengers and has a range of 3,100 to 12,000 km (1,700 to 6,500 nmi), depending on model.

Amazing Abandoned AIRPORTS in the World

10:14
Thank you for watching our videos: Please check : 1. Johnston Atoll Airport, USA Imagine trying to land a plane here! Johnston Atoll Airport is, as the name suggests, a small atoll in the Pacific Ocean, several hundred miles south of Hawaii. It was a US military base for much of the 20th century but closed in 2005. Built on a small island, it housed 400 men and had an underground hospital. Attacked by Japanese submarines in During World War II, it now lies in ruins and abandoned. Check out the world's most beautiful beaches in this gallery 2. Castellón–Costa Azahar Airport, Spain Officially declared 'open' in March 2011, no commercial flight had actually left from or landed at Castellón-Costa Azahar Airport until very recently - Ryanair now operate out of here. So while not technically abandoned, this €150 million airport near Valencia has been loved for many years and its enduring feature is a statue in honour of Carlos Fabra, the local politician who was the driving force behind its construction. He is under investigation for tax evasion and corruption. 3. Don Quijote Airport, Spain If you thought €150 million was a waste of money, how about €1.1 billion? Don Quijote Airport (or Ciudad Real Central, to give it its official name) was conceived in the 1990s as an alternative to Madrid-Barajas. Fifty minutes from Madrid on a high-speed rail connection with Seville, it was Spain's first private international airport, and Spain's last - it went bust and closed in April 2012. Find local tips on seeing the best of Madrid 4. Berlin Templehof, Germany Built in 1923, Berlin-Tempelhof closed to passengers on 31 October 2008. Until the construction of the Pentagon, it was the largest building in the world. It played a key role in the Berlin Airlift but over the years it became obsolete. Today 'Tempelhof Field' is the largest public park in the city and the airport buildings host events such as raves and fashion shows. On a budget? We've got ideas on free stuff to do in Berlin 5. Croydon Airport, UK Said to be one of three, iconic, pre-World War II airports in Europe (along with Le Bourget in Paris and Templehof in Berlin) Croydon was redolent of the romance of early aviation. Several famous figures, from Charles Lindbergh to Winston Churchill, graced its runway, which crossed a road on which traffic had to be stopped by a man waving a red flag. It is also famous for being the first airport with air traffic control. Today, the old terminal Airport House still stands, decorated by a De Havilland Heron. Find out why Croydon is the UK's next hipster hang-out 6 .RAF Binbrook, UK The UK has a number of old disused airfields just waiting to be turned into the next 'regional hub' or Heathrow's eleventh runway. RAF Binbrook, near Brookenby in Lincolnshire was used by bombers during World War II and continued to be used by the Air Force until the 1980s. Its biggest claim to fame is that it was the film set for 1990 flick Memphis Belle. More cheap pints in this UK craft beer pub guide 7. Gaza International Airport, Gaza Strip Also known as Yasser Arafat International Airport, this airport served the Gaza Strip. Opened in 1998, 700,000 passengers passed though it a year, but not for long. In December 2001 Israeli forces shelled its radar station and control tower, putting it out of action. A few weeks later, they bulldozed the runway. Discover another untouched destination, Jordan 8. Stapleton International Airport, USA Stapleton International Airport served Denver, Colorado between 1929 and 1995, when it was replaced by Denver International. In July 1997, a storm caused severe damage to its structure, so it had to get knocked down completely. All that remains today is one old control tower. Plan your all-American road trip with these route suggestions 9. Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, USA "Welcome to Earth!". So Will Smith greets an alien arrival in Independence Day. Scenes from the classic 1996 sci-fi blockbuster were filmed at the wonderfully-named Air Station Marine Corps El Toro airfield in the California desert, which looks exactly like the kind of place that an extra-terrestrial attack force would use as a rendezvous point on our planet. It closed in 1999 (not because of alien attack). Dream of Californication? Here's what not to miss in the Sunshine State 10. Galeville, Shawangunk, USA The small military airfield in upstate New York was built during World War II for use as a military academy. It had two paved runways and for some years operated as a civilian airport. It's now part of the Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge. C-17 Lands at small commuter airport by accident

C-17 Lands at small commuter airport by accident https://youtu.be/wi58Ds3Krgw TRT= 2:22 This C-17 landed at the small commuter airport (TPF - Peter O'Knight airport) just south of downtown on Davis Islands, in Tampa instead of Mac Dill AFB. Take a look at the two airports on on Google maps. The runways are lined up closely enough that this is not the first time that a military "heavy", has set up for final approach from the east before an "oh shoot" moment when they realized that there are no private homes along the runway at MacDill AFB, (who's runway is long enough to be designated an alternative for the space shuttle). When I was shooting news in Tampa, I shot the departure of a Brazilian C-130 who did the same thing. This ought to be a great story for this pilot's, great, great, grand children! Here is the link to the landing video shot by Ryan, one of the pilots trapped at the airport all day till this take off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkuqsd_tRHw&feature=youtube_gdata_player Also, they backed the tail of the C17 over the water in the channel before takeoff! Birmingham is UK’s Fastest Growing Regional Tourist Destination

02:18
Record visitor numbers see Birmingham take lead as UK’s fastest growing regional tourist destination City welcomed 37.2million visitors in 2014, the highest results on record Birmingham saw higher annual growth than other UK cities Visitor economy now worth £5.98billion Almost 5,000 new jobs created in 2014 Birmingham attracted a record 37.2million visitors last year, an increase of almost 10% and more than any other regional UK city*. The city’s visitor economy is now worth a staggering £5.98billion having grown by half a billion in just one year. This growth has resulted in the creation of nearly 5,000 local jobs and further boosted Birmingham’s drive to become a leading global tourism and business destination. The figures were released today by Marketing Birmingham’s research arm the Regional Observatory and tourism research body, Global Tourism Solutions (GTS). The STEAM report, produced annually by GTS to assess the economic impact of visitors to the UK’s major cities, revealed that since 2013, the number of people visiting Birmingham rose by 9.4% to 37.2million. Birmingham’s visitor numbers, their economic impact and the number of jobs created by the tourism sector grew at a higher rate than a range of its UK competitors including Edinburgh, Liverpool, Glasgow, Cardiff, Swansea and Aberdeen. Birmingham saw its visitor numbers rise by 9.4% and their economic impact by 12% – more than 6% ahead of the other cities on both counts. Continued investment in the city’s infrastructure, connectivity and its renaissance as a retail, cultural and ‘foodie’ hub are being viewed as key to its growing appeal. Paul Kehoe, Chairman of Marketing Birmingham, said: Birmingham is now the UK’s fastest growing tourism destination with multi-million pound investments in our infrastructure, connectivity and visitor offering combining to bring record numbers to the city. New air routes to China, major events including the city’s Christmas Markets and the Conservative Party Conference and a growing retail and independent culture offering saw millions travel to Birmingham and boost our status as a global destination. Looking ahead, this year will see the £150million Resorts World leisure destination reach completion – adding to the recent £600million New Street Station redevelopment and brand new £150million Grand Central retail complex. It is clear that Birmingham’s place as the UK’s most connected regional city with a leading retail offering is secure. Add this to our growing culture, arts, food and hospitality offering, and it becomes obvious why Birmingham is regularly on the must-visit lists of global and national visitors. Building on Birmingham’s international success, the wider Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) area attracted more than 88million visitors in 2014, resulting in an overall visitor economy worth £8.9billion. The partnership works with residents and local companies to promote the area globally to businesses, tourists and media. 22nd October 2015

Indira Gandhi International Airport is the primary international airport of the National Capital Region of Delhi, India, situated in South West Delhi,16 kilometres (9.9 mi) south west of New Delhi city centre. Royal Brunei A320neo - MIGHTY ENGINE silently gliding over BEAUTIFUL Brunei!!! [AirClips]

03:57
The Airbus A320neo family (neo for new engine option) is a development of the A320 family of narrow-body airliners produced by Airbus, the original family is renamed A320ceo, for current engine option. Launched on 1 December 2010, it made its first flight on 25 September 2014 and it was introduced by Lufthansa on 25 January 2016. Re-engined with CFM International LEAP-1A or Pratt & Whitney PW1000G engines and with large sharklets, it should be 15% more fuel efficient. Three variants are based on the previous A319, A320 and A321. Airbus has received 6,140 orders as of July 2018 and delivered 403 as of July 2018. Lufthansa is the launch operator of this standard variant. The first A320neo rolled out of the Airbus factory in Toulouse on 1 July 2014. It first flew on 25 September 2014. A joint type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency and the Federal Aviation Administration was received on 24 November 2015.

Eric A. Busenburg, vice president, Euro-American Air Freight Forwarding Co

00:48
Euro-American Air Freight Forwarding Co. Inc. is a family-owned business that specializes in coordinating arrangements to transport products domestically and abroad. Euro-American Logistics, as the company is commonly called, also transports goods, primarily in the central New England area. Adjacent to Worcester Regional Airport, the company has a shipping and distribution warehouse and is a certified food facility for nonperishable foods. The company has 17 employees in Worcester and two at its Logan International Airport office. Mr. Busenburg has been with the company for nearly 18 years. David Busenburg, Eric's father, is the company president, and the two are leading the company together as David Busenburg approaches retirement. How did you prepare yourself in order to lead Euro-American? "Good mentorship. My whole life I've been surrounded by a large family of hard-working, honest and intelligent entrepreneurs, so I've become accustomed to this mindset since I was very young. A common term used nowadays is 'intrapreneur,' which encourages working within the mindset of an owner, supporting the needs of the company and the team members no matter what your current position may actually be. So it prepares you to focus on team and direction rather than any selfish motives." What does your company do? "We're an asset-based logistics provider. So our motto is, 'We ship it, clear it, store it and deliver it.' The freight never leaves our hands and never leaves our control. We provide international and domestic shipping, air freight, ocean freight, trucking and rail, customs brokerage and warehouse distribution, and we maintain control throughout that entire process, which gives us a competitive advantage by better serving our clients by maintaining that control rather than brokering out each one of those services." How do products get from the customer to you so you can ship them? "Well there's two portions. There's exports and imports. For exports, we handle the transportation ourselves directly to the airport or pier, whether it's air or ocean. For imports, we'll arrange with our international agents for the products to be imported by air or ocean. Once here, we'll clear them through U.S. customs and then deliver the products to either our warehouse, which serves as a distribution facility, or directly to the company who is importing the product." Have you experienced and do you expect to experience any effect on your business now that Worcester Airport is transporting passengers? "The Worcester airport and JetBlue have been great with working with us. They introduced themselves. We've been in contact about freight possibilities. The JetBlue short-term plan is to focus on passenger only, and their long-term plans may include freight. So down the line we may see some freight opportunities. Overall, we think it's a great thing for Worcester to have positive attention, and if things work out and the demand occurs, perhaps an access road to the airport would be considered and if so, that would improve our transporting services." What companies do you work with and what products do you deliver? "Due to confidentiality agreements with our clients, we're not allowed to provide company names, but we work with the pharmaceutical companies, plastics manufacturers, sporting goods, wire fabricating, steel valve companies, all within the greater Central New England area." Great Airports for Great Cities - Airport Expansion for UK

04:50
Airport Expansion - Are We There Yet? Episode 1 of 3 #AreWeThereYet #BalanceAviation First broadcast: Monday 02 December 2013 Phil Williams and John Morris Live from Heathrow for the first of three special programmes investigating the state of Britain's transport network; by air, train and road. The government is currently working out the UK's aviation strategy because Britain's aviation arrangements are failing to meet the needs of passengers and the economy. The future shape of the industry is unclear, but what is certain is that we must plan for a doubling in air traffic over the next fifty years. And it is unsustainable to keep relying on a system that funnels a third of our traffic through a constrained Heathrow. Birmingham Airport believes that a one airport solution is not a national aviation strategy. It will not give the UK the resilience or flexibility it needs to respond to these trends in the long-run. Above all, we need a strategy that delivers for the economy -- not just in the South East, but across the whole of the UK. We believe that transport infrastructure acts as an economic enabler, a pathway to a virtuous cycle of growth, and each major regional economy cannot succeed without its own meaningful international gateway. We believe the UK economy is large enough to support at least four major 'national' airports -- London, Midlands, North West, Scotland -- each serving as the international connectivity dimension of that region's economic growth strategy moving forward. It is also essential that long-term policy proposals are born out of the reality of needing to make the best use of existing capacity in the short to medium-term. Given the constraints on the South East and the potentially distant timescales of a new, purpose built hub, aligning long-term aviation strategy with short-term realities is vital to the health of UK aviation and economic policy.
