You must try to enter the conversation they are having in their head about their care requirements and to do this you really need to know your ideal client very well. Let me give you an example. Say you specialise in Dementia Care. Anyone who is not looking for dementia care is of no interest to you whatsoever. Yet you would not believe the number of these homes that advertise or have web sites that say some thing like the following: Headline: XYZ Residential Care Home Text: Welcome to xzy residential home. We are a family run home who have been in business 20 years and are situated in the village of Pleasantville. Xyz is a registered home and complies with all regulations under the Care Standards Act 2000 and the inspectorate body CSCI The home is run by Mr Jollyman, the proprietor and has a full time Registered Manager. We have 25 beds, 6 with ensuite…etc., etc. You get the idea. I will come back to this type of advert/brochure/web site in future ramblings because it is so dreadful there are many lessons to be learned. But firstly can you spot the glaring omission? There is no mention that you specialise in dementia care. The whole thing should be written around the needs, wants and fears of someone looking for a specialist in dementia care. As it stands it is too general and would attract all manner of residential clients, who are of course no interest to you as a dementia care specialist. The whole idea was summed up beautifully by one of the most successful advertising experts ever Claude Hopkins. He said “Your message should single out your prospect like a bell-boy paging a man in a crowded hotel lobby” Who is your real client? In the example above, the real client is not the person with dementia who lives in your care home, but the person who makes the decision about which home the dementia sufferer lives in. This is the person your marketing should be aimed at. This is your real client. So take some time to define your ideal client in great detail. Who are they? What sex are they? What age? Where do they live? What publications do they read? Where do they get their information from? Who are they making the decision on behalf of? A great way to find answer to these questions is to look at your existing residents. Who were their decision makers? Chances are the people you need to attract will be a lot like them. Now check your own promotional material with your newly focussed eye and ask yourself the following searching questions: 1. Does it specifically state the type of clients you want to attract? 2. Does it talk to the wants, needs and fears of the real decision maker? 3. Are you getting it in front of the real decision maker so they know who you are? If not, you are wasting your money and missing valuable opportunities to fill your home with profitable clients. Please give some serious thought to this issue. Get this right and you are well on your way to never having to worry about getting clients again. However, get it wrong by aiming at the wrong people and you are making life very hard for yourself indeed. What I love about the Healthcare Industry is how business goes during the summer months. I find that we tend to become relaxed and kick back, taking it easy for a bit. Which makes sense, specially if you have kids as they are out of school. But in this week’s episode of A Drink With The Hurricane, I’m doing to say DON’T. We have vacations for a reason, this is when you take time to recharge the battery. So use your days for that purpose. If you’re working however, you should be WORKING. Now if you’re a full time Marketing Representative or a Home Care Business Owner who employs a (or multiple) Marketing Rep, how should I spend my time marketing in the field? This is where the importance and need of drop by visits comes in to play. After all, what are we trying to accomplish? We are trying to build a referring relationship with individuals who have the referrals to give. This is something that takes time, and so therefor we have see these folks again and again. How are we to accomplish this week after week, month after month? Well this is a particularly debated topic from marketing company to company. Some marketing companies feel that marketing reps should see 40-50 accounts each week. I couldn’t disagree more. You want to talk about setting someone up for failure, ask them to go to this many accounts and see what happens. If you factor in drive time, office meetings, appointments, and so on, this gives you 10-20 mins to spend in each account. It’s just not enough time to be able to develop a referring relationship with someone. The visit would be quick, essentially asking for a referral and then leaving. I’ve personally recorded interviews I’ve had with social workers, and they do NOT appreciate this at all. Here’s what I suggest you try: Meaningful Conversations – When dropping by for a visit, don’t just ask for a referral, but get to know your contacts. People refer who they Know Like and Trust. If you only ask for referrals, you’re not developing a relationship and chances are you’re not getting the referrals you’re after! Have a Face to Face visit with 1 person for every hour you spend marketing – If you are a Home Care Business Owner doing the marketing yourself for example, dedicate say 20 hours per week to direct referral marketing. With that 20 hours, you should have a meaningful conversation with a Key Contact with in a referral source 20x during that week. If you’re a full time Marketing Rep, working 40 hours, then do this 40x. Plan to visit 15-20 Accounts during the week – In order to accomplish the above tip, we need to do so by seeing multiple key contacts with in a sales account. A SNF, for example, has 7 – 10 key contacts. If you’re going to take the time to drive there, make the most of it and see 3-4 of these key contacts all in one place on one visit. This is “Blanketing The Account”. It helps combat turn over, creates accountability, and helps you to ensure referrals are sent your way. Repetition – If your accounts are well qualified (To find out about qualifying accounts, click HERE) then you need to do this again and again, week after week, month after month. Remember, it takes 8-12 visits before you start getting the referrals you’re after. That’s 2-3 months if you go weekly. The Good News, your competitors give up after 3-5. These are part of the strategies that every coaching client of ours goes through, and you should see the referral numbers they put up! It truly is a perfect example of “Less is More”. We are trying to get individuals to trust you with their patients, and so it’s going to take time. The time we spend in front of them, the better our relationship will be and before long, you’ll be receiving the referrals you’re after. Three Neglected Elements of an Injury Attorney's Marketing Campaign
In every community there are injury attorneys who spend a fortune advertising their legal services...billboards, television commercials, and much more. You're exposed to it every day. Almost all of the money spent on injury attorney advertising is spent attracting clients to call the office. But more can and should be done to attract clients. And additional emphasis should be placed on both converting those prospective clients and getting more referrals. The following are three elements of an injury attorney's marketing program that often get neglected or overlooked, but can have a major impact on the bottom line. (1) Book Author. I'll address two main reasons all injury attorneys should be a book author. First, you'll get all of the obvious benefits that book authors get: perceived expertise, you're known as the "attorney who wrote the book,; your book trains your clients on how to do business with you; you'll benefit from it for the rest of your career. Second, and just as important, is that you will use your book as your free offer (also known as your "hook" or your "freemium"). In order for your prospective clients to get your book, they must give you their name, address, phone number, and reasons they want your book, before you agree to give them your book. Of course, this process is entirely automated. Now you can use this data to determine who to pursue as your future client. (2) Short Term Follow Up. Not every prospective client that contacts you once is ready to hire you. Some are also considering hiring another attorney. So, you need to have automated texts and emails going to them frequently after they initially contact you. These communications must be valuable to them and based on the legal issue or injury that they have. This will increase your value to them. Once they hire you, your "Welcome and Wow" campaign (also automated) will make them appreciate you as their attorney and it will make them feel good about selecting you as their injury attorney. (3) Long Term Nurture Campaign. Every person you know should be part of your Long Term Nurture Campaign (LTNC). By sending out valuable life and law lessons each week, your contacts will think of you first when they have a need, or when they run into a friend or colleague who has a need that you can help them with - hence, your referral business skyrockets. Bottom line - most attorneys spend a significant amount of time, effort, and money blasting their name and number out there for the public. But few injury attorneys have the necessary automated marketing systems in place that allow them to attract more ideal clients, retain more clients, and get loads more referrals. The secret is: this stuff is easy to implement. We've built it already. Black on white is about 200% more readable than white on black, it is important that a customer knows how to find things on your website and does not need to jump through a maze of links to find what they are looking for. Music or videos auto playing when someone enters a website has been shown time and time again to increase your bounce rate (a bad thing). Your website is the online face of your company so make sure it is up to par and allow it to be a strong link between the rest of your social media profiles for the most beneficial effects on your reputation. Parliament Highlights - 12Mar2014
SINGAPORE: One new acute or community hospital on average will be ready every year until 2020. But Health Minister Gan Kim Yong, who was speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, cautioned that it is not just about building capacity but developing community and home care services as our population grows and ages. From now till the end of 2020, Singapore will have about 11,000 more acute hospitals, community hospitals and nursing home beds. Beyond 2020, there are plans for four additional acute hospitals, including an integrated hospital development in Woodlands. The integrated hospital will be progressively opened from 2022 and will comprise an acute hospital, community hospital, and a nursing home with about 1,800 beds in all. To support the infrastructure expansion, Mr Gan said efforts are being taken to beef up manpower and attract more locals to the healthcare sector. For example, more opportunities for flexible, part-time work in the community will be made available to attract more housewives and retirees. And to better recognise doctors, the ministry will complete the implementation of the new remuneration framework for senior public sector doctors in April 2014. To keep pace with the market, the base salary of senior public sector doctors will be adjusted upwards by 9 per cent from April this year. This will also apply to senior public sector dentists. The ministry is also working with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) to introduce degree upgrading pathways for diploma-trained diagnostic radiographers and radiation therapists later this year. From April 2014, the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) will be raising the maximum subsidy level for training courses offered by the AIC Learning Institute from the current 80 per cent to 90 per cent. This will enable providers to send more staff for training and further raise the quality of care provided to patients. But as healthcare needs evolve, the model of care has to change. Mr Gan said: "Increasing capacity alone cannot be sustainable in the longer term. If left unchecked, demand will keep increasing and we will run up against the physical limits of space and manpower. "A hospital-centric system is also not the best in meeting the needs of an ageing population as patient needs become more complex and require longer term care." So Singapore's healthcare clusters, otherwise known as the Regional Health Systems, are working on transforming Singapore's model of care to be less reliant on acute hospitals, and more centred on caring for patients in the community and at home. Primary care, which involves taking care of patients within the community, will also be strengthened. For example, two polyclinics in Pioneer and Punggol will be ready by 2017. There are also plans to develop a further four new polyclinics by 2020, and another six to eight more by 2030.
