10 Signs And Symptoms Of Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

04:02
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is defined as high pressure in the arteries, that are the vessels which carry blood from the heart to the body. It’s easy to tell whether an adult has high blood pressure because there’s a standard set of measurements: Normal blood pressure—systolic under 120 mmHg and diastolic under 80 mm Hg; Pre-hypertension—systolic 120-139 mmHg or diastolic 80-89 mmHg; Stage 1 hypertension—systolic 140-159 mmHg or diastolic 90-99 mmHg; Stage 2 hypertension—systolic ≥160 or diastolic ≥100 mmHg. Approximately 86 million adults (about 1 out of every 3) in the United States have hypertension. Many factors can affect blood pressure, including - smoking, leading a sedentary lifestyle, a diet with a high salt intake, being overweight or obese, long-term sleep deprivation, a diet focused on meat, dairy products, and eggs, high LDL cholesterol, alcohol abuse or chronic alcohol use, or a family history of high blood pressure. If high blood pressure remains untreated, it can cause kidney failure, heart disease, and increases the risk of stroke. High blood pressure commonly has no symptoms and is often labeled "the silent killer." However, a few people with high blood pressure may experience: #1 Vision problems - hypertension can damage the vessels supplying blood to your retina, causing retinopathy. This serious condition can lead to blurred vision, bleeding in the eye, and complete loss of vision. #2 Nausea - a sensation of unease and discomfort in the stomach with an urge to vomit. #3 Headaches - some individuals with hypertension may experience headaches, but they usually don't occur unless the pressure is notably raised. #4 Erectile Dysfunction - the inability to have and maintain an erection becomes increasingly common in men as they reach age 50. But high blood pressure damages the lining of blood vessels and causes atherosclerosis, limiting blood flow to the penis. #5 Kidney Damage - a high blood pressure can cause damage to the filters and blood vessels in the kidney, making removal of waste from the body difficult. #6 Fatigue - feeling tired all the time and experiencing difficulty with everyday activities, such as climbing stairs, shopping, walking, or carrying groceries. #7 Mental function can also change as a result of hypertension with many experiencing difficulties finding words, memory loss, and an inability to focus. #8 Heart palpitations - to "make up for" the loss in pumping capacity, the heart beats faster. #9 Chest pain which may radiate to the back, arms, neck or jaw. #10 Ringing in the ear - considering the immense amounts of blood flowing in and out of the head and this area, it is no surprise that hypertension can affect one’s hearing. Note - According to various studies, foods or beverages that may help reduce hypertension include - whole grains, legumes, flax seeds, beets, dark green leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes, potatoes, hibiscus tea, and foods high in potassium (such as pistachios, bananas, raisins, almonds, dates). Give Dr. Berg a Review: http://bit.ly/DrBergReviewGoogle VIDEOS ON INSULIN RESISTANCE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxl8h... Dr. Berg talks about the link between high blood pressure and insulin resistance. Insulin resistances, which is high insulin stiffens your arteries, disrupts the endothelial layer of your arteries, which start the hardening of the arteries as well as the cascade effect of cholesterol and calcium to accumulate in the arteries. High insulin (insulin resistance) creates inflammation in the arteries. This condition also causes sodium retention and a loss of potassium because insulin is necessary to allow this mineral in the cell. Diuretics also have a side-effect of causing insulin resistance. The treatment of hypertension is mainly medications because we are told that there is no cure, only treatment. The pathophysiology is in reality a disruption of the artery wall creating vasoconstriction, stiffness and less elasticity. The additional symptom of hypertension is headaches and a risk for stroke and heart attack. The home remedies involve actions to lower insulin - cutting out sugar, adding vegetables to get your potassium and even apple cider vinegar can help. ☝️ 3 Pressure Points That’ll Instantly Lower Your Blood Pressure Naturally

How I Lowered My Dad’s Blood Pressure by 23% In Just A Few days - NO Drugs or Diets: 👉http://drsam.co/yt/LongTermLowBP Or you can watch this video: http://drsam.co/yt/WorstFoodForBP ======================================= ☝️ 3 Pressure Points That’ll Instantly Lower Your Blood Pressure Naturally ======================================= Lowering high blood pressure is a very important topic not only for avoiding a heart attack or stroke, but simply for a longer life. And personally speaking, this is very important for me because I have a family history of high blood pressure, which has typically lead to strokes on my dad’s side of the family and heart attacks on my mom’s. The good news is that there are lots of simple ways to lower high blood pressure, naturally. And today I’m going reveal 3 simple pressure points on your body, that will instantly lower your blood pressure. Something important that I want to bring to your attention about today’s topic is that these solutions are for instant results, NOT long-term solutions … which I’ll get to at the end of today’s video. So if you’re feeling stressed or your blood pressure is rising, you can almost instantly and quickly use today’s 3 pressure points to lower your blood pressure and help avoid anything bad from happening. If nothing else, you’ll get instant relief and relaxation. Acupressure Point LI4 LI 4, which stands for “Large Intestine 4”, is an extremely useful acupressure point that is extensively used to treat chronic pain, acute stress and various types of diseases along with treatment for high blood pressure. This point is situated in the webbing between the forefinger and the thumb… right in the middle as you see here. It calms and balances blood flow throughout the body and clears stagnation. As an added benefit, it also boosts your immunity. The most effective way to apply pressure to LI 4 is to slide your thumb along the webbing until you reach the junction of the thumb and index finger bones. How to apply acupressure? Begin by moving your thumb in a small circular rubbing motion over LI 4 for a few seconds. Then you can apply gentle to moderate thumb pressure depending on how sensitive the area feels. If there is any pain, it should be a “good hurt,” not severe or uncomfortable. You can hold the point as long as you are comfortable, up to several minutes. I typically suggest about 20-30 seconds, then take a few second break and then repeat as often as you’d like. PC 6 PC 6 or Pericardium 6 is yet another important acupressure point for treating high blood pressure. It soothes and helps the heart and circulatory system in their proper functioning. This point is also known as the Inner Gate, and it is located on the inner forearm, approximately three finger-widths away from the wrist crease as you see here. This point can be stimulated by applying firm pressure to the point using your index finger or thumb. Again, apply pressure for about 20-30 seconds, then take a break and repeat as needed. G20 The G20 is below the base of your skull, in the hollows on both sides of the neck, between the two vertical neck muscles. Putting pressure here lowers your blood pressure, reduces headaches and stress by relaxing your nervous system. Use your thumbs, fingers, or knuckles to gradually apply pressure into the hollows of your skull. Close your eyes as you tilt your head back slowly. Take long, slow deep breaths as you hold for two to three minutes. Direct the pressure slowly and firmly into the center of your head. Other Acupressure Points Now, there are lots of other acupressure points -- on your feet, arms, legs, and so forth. I picked these 3 areas for lowering your blood pressure because you can do them any where, any place -- they’re easy to access. It’s just your hand, forearm/wrist and the back of your head. Easy access, you can do it yourself and you’ll get fast relief. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Please feel free to comment, like or share with your friends. How to get rid of high blood pressure & hypertension after 2 weeks!

07:27
Over time, 90 percent of people suffer from high blood pressure! It goes up as we age. A bad diet and bad habits like smoking, drinking, lack of exercise will all contribute to high your problems. Blood pressure is the force that your blood exerts on the walls of the arteries it flows through, just like water flowing through a garden hose pushing against the rubber. When people have high blood pressure—also called hypertension—it’s often because blood vessels are too rigid to expand when the heart pumps. High blood pressure can trigger heart attacks and strokes and also can damage the surrounding organs too. It will send blood to the heart, causing the veins, arteries. This will slowly open them up and rejuvenate the heart. An average healthy blood pressure is 120/80. 120 the higher number—is the pressure on blood vessel walls during a heartbeat. 80 the lower number—is the pressure between beats. The vibration techniques will help to clear any blockages that have accumulated. Once the blockages are cleared, the other organs in your body will also benefit. Try this for 2 weeks and your pressure will start to go back to normal. You can get checked by the doctor to see the results. Go before and after and let me know how you get on. Keep me updated daily with how you feel. I want you to get better.

High Blood Sugar & Insulin Will Destroy Your Eyes

Join Our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/drber... Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY Dr. Berg talks about the connection between high blood sugars and insulin and how it destroys your eyes. High blood sugars and high insulin destroys your retina (diabetic retinopathy), the macula as in diabetic macular edema) and macular degeneration. High sugar also effects the lens of the eye causing cataracts and fluids as in dry eye and glaucoma. If you are getting blurred vision, don't assume it's just "old age" and realize your blood sugars are behind so many eye and vision problems. How to Use Pressed Garlic to Reverse Vision Loss - Surprising Health Benefits Of Garlic

14:58
How to Use Pressed Garlic to Reverse Vision Loss - Surprising Health Benefits Of Garlic Did you know that the sulfur compounds in garlic are ideal for reducing high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which are both linked to vision loss? Vision Loss Vision loss is a health problem that often comes with age. Although it doesn’t occur in the same way for everyone, a high percentage of the population suffers from some type of difficulty associated with old age. The problem is that some people ignore this and only start to pay attention to it when conditions have reached the severe, almost irreversible stages. For this reason, doctors and specialists recommend that you improve your living habits, especially when it comes to what you eat. Your eyes need essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants to perform at optimal levels and prevent deterioration. That’s why you should take a good look at your eating habits and add foods that benefit your eyes directly. Eating garlic every day, for example, can prevent and even reverse macular degeneration. This is thanks to its high content of sulfur compounds and essential minerals that protect the membranes of your eyes. What is macular degeneration? Macular degeneration is a disease of the eye that’s characterized by the slow deterioration of your central and sharp vision, making it difficult to see fine details or read. It’s more common in individuals over 60 years old, although there have also been cases in younger people. It occurs when the macula, a small area on the retina, collapses or suffers from some sort of damage. This usually occurs as part of the natural aging process, but it can be accelerated by the continued practice of bad habits and the development of certain diseases. Patients with this disorder experience blurred vision, dark areas or distortion in their central vision, and occasionally permanent central vision loss. How can garlic help patients with macular degeneration and vision loss? Garlic has become popular as one of the best foods for vision care thanks to its high content of nutrients and other beneficial properties. Compounds derived from sulfur, as well as selenium and vitamins, work to reduce the symptoms of macular degeneration. Its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action protects the cells of the eye and prevents their destruction due to the effects of free radicals. In addition to that, it’s a great food for controlling high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, both of which have been associated with eye damage and vision loss. Blood pressure and its relationship with your vision Patients who have high blood pressure are more likely to have vision loss/problems than those who don’t. This is because of restrictions in blood flow, which has a negative impact on the function of your retina. This part of your eye depends on oxygen levels for good performance, so a restricted blood flow compromises your visual health. Garlic promotes proper blood flow and reduces your systolic blood pressure to stable levels. Cholesterol and eye health Too much cholesterol in your bloodstream not only triggers unhealthy reactions at the cardiovascular level, but also has to do with the buildup of fatty deposits behind the retina. These lipids can decrease your vision and over the long-term, lead to vision loss. Garlic contains sulfur and powerful antioxidants that prevent the synthesis of both bad and total cholesterol. How should you prepare garlic to care for your vision? You’ll need a kitchen utensil known as a garlic press, which is designed to crush a clove of garlic by pressing it through a series of small holes. It has a small lever that serves to press the clove into a thick paste. Of course, if you don’t have this tool you can choose other options like a cutting board or a mortar and pestle. Mode of consumption To obtain these benefits from daily garlic consumption, one or two cloves is recommended. You should always eat it raw, because when you cook garlic it loses up to 90% of its benefits. You can also combine it with a little lemon juice and olive oil. How often should you add this to your diet? Now that you know how good it can be for your vision, stop making excuses and try it on a regular basis. WHAT IS EYE STROKE Eye Stroke Symptoms Risks and Treatment

WHAT IS EYE STROKE Eye Stroke Symptoms Risks and Treatment. Sudden vision loss without pain is the most common symptom of a stroke involving your eye. An eye stroke, or anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION), is a condition in which blood flow either becomes blocked or reduced to the tissues of the front part of the optic nerve. An eye stroke can cause sudden loss of peripheral vision, distorted vision, and blind spots in your vision, and while it may be frightening, prompt medical attention can prevent or limit vision loss. Did I Have an Eye Stroke? People with eye stroke are usually given little warning. Most people with eye stroke notice a loss of vision in one eye upon waking in the morning, with no pain. Some people notice a dark area or shadow in their vision that affects the upper or lower half of their visual field. Other symptoms include loss of visual contrast and light sensitivity. Diagnosing Eye Stroke If your doctor suspects eye stroke, he or she will review your medical history and ask about cardiovascular disease and conditions you may have such as diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol. Your blood pressure will be measured, as well as your central visual acuity and visual field. Your doctor will usually dilate your eyes to examine your optic nerve and retina. Your doctor will also examine your optic nerve to check for pale color or possibly optic disc swelling. Your normal eye will be compared to the affected eye to detect changes. Your doctor will also carefully rule out artertic ION (a serious eye stroke affecting the optic nerve) and ask about symptoms such as fever, headache, scalp tenderness, jaw pain, weight loss, loss of appetite, and fatigue, so be prepared to discuss these points. Types of Occlusions Depending on the area of the eye where blood flow becomes blocked or reduced, the following occlusions may occur. Central Retinal Artery Occlusion (CRAO): This occlusion usually occurs with sudden, profound vision loss in one eye, with no pain. It occurs in the retina. Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO): Usually causing sudden, painless vision loss that can be mild or severe, this blockage occurs in the central retinal vein where it enters the eye. Branch Retinal Artery Occlusion (BRAO): This blockage is usually painless and occurs suddenly. The patient usually loses peripheral vision, and sometimes central vision as well. Underlying causes includes narrowing of the carotid artery, high blood pressure, cholesterol disorders, and/or cardiac disease. Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO): This type of blockage causes bleeding and clotting along the retinal vein It may result in decreased vision, peripheral vision loss, distorted vision, or blind spots. This type involves one eye and may be caused by high blood pressure or diabetes. What Can Cause an Eye Stroke? Eye stroke is caused by poor circulation in the blood vessels that supply the front portion of the optic nerve. The optic nerve is the cable that connects the brain to the eye and carries millions of nerve fibers and blood vessels. Although an eye stroke can occur from a total blockage of a blood vessel that feeds the optic nerve, it is more commonly caused by a lack of pressure or perfusion of the tissue. Blood pressure may change relative to the eye pressure and the normal flow of blood is reduced. If the optic nerve's nutrient and oxygen supply is cut off, nerve tissue is damaged and lost, resulting in vision loss. Are You at Risk? Eye stroke is more common in middle-aged people and the elderly. Approximately 10 percent of patients that are affected with anterior ischemic optic neuropathy are under the age of 45. Cardiovascular disease raises your risk for developing the disease. In some patients with cardiovascular disease, blood pressure falls markedly while sleeping. This low blood pressure reduces circulation through those arteries, increasing the chance of eye stroke, so reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease can overall help reduce your risk for eye stroke. Some physicians also feel that newer, more powerful anti-hypertensive medications may reduce blood pressure too low when sleeping, putting people at risk for eye stroke, so make sure to discuss with your doctor if you are on an anti-hypertensive and concerned. There may be a different option available for you. Certain optic disc shapes can also raise your risk of eye stroke. Nerve fibers that travel to the brain and down the optic nerve must enter the eye through a hole called the optic foramen. If this hole is smaller than average, the nerve fibers can become crowded. When they become crowded, the risk of developing an occlusion increases.Although the relationship is not well understood, people who have significant cardiovascular disease and also take the drug Viagra are more at risk for the disease..

BLURRY VISION; Why is yours Vision Blurry

11:45
BLURRY VISION; Why is yours Vision Blurry. Thousands of people suffer daily from blurred or diffuse vision, a disorder that has many causes and one you should not ignore. Above all if this problem is accompanied by headaches, dizziness, tiredness and nausea, it is very important that you find out why and how to prevent it. Do you often find yourself blinking, squinting, or rubbing your eyes to gain a clearer view? If you have blurry vision, you might chalk it up to age or needing new glasses. But it can be a sign of other health problems, too. Often, treatment for these conditions will clear up your blurred vision. Remember, though, that sudden changes to your eyesight aren’t normal, so if they happen, see your doctor right away. Could It Be Diabetes? The condition raises your risk for an eye disease called diabetic retinopathy. Over time, high blood sugar can damage the tiny blood vessels in your retina, the part of your eye that senses light. That can lead to swelling in a part of the retina called the macula. Along with blurry vision, diabetic eye disease may also cause: “Floating” spots in your field of vision Blindness Early treatment is the best way to ward off permanent damage. So protect your eyes from diabetes by getting them checked at least once a year. Could It Be a Stroke? One of the key signs that you’re having a stroke is a sudden, painless change in eyesight. You might have blurry vision, see double, or suddenly lose your sight. Call 911 right away if you have any of these changes and other stroke warning signs, such as: Dizziness Face drooping Loss of balance Slurred speech or other problems speaking clearly Weakness or numbness in one arm Could It Be Preeclampsia? If you’re pregnant, you shouldn’t take blurry vision lightly. It could be a sign of preeclampsia, a dangerous condition marked by very high blood pressure and protein in your urine. Preeclampsia occurs in women who have never had high blood pressure before and generally occurs late in pregnancy, generally after 20 weeks. It can have serious, life-threatening effects on you and your baby. Preeclampsia may not cause any symptoms, but blurry vision and other sight changes such as seeing flashing lights or spots could be clues that you have it. Be sure to contact your doctor if you notice these as well as other possible signs: Anxiety, shortness of breath, a racing heart, or confusion Nausea or vomiting that suddenly starts after the first trimester Pain in your belly, shoulder, or low back Sudden weight gain Swelling, especially in your face, around your eyes, or in your hands Throbbing headaches that don’t go away CONTINUED Could It Be a Migraine? A migraine is more than a horrible headache. There are a host of other symptoms that you might have with the pain, including blurry vision and sensitivity to light. You may feel these signs even before a migraine starts, and they may last until it’s over. More dramatic changes to your eyesight during a migraine are called an aura. They can include: Loss of part or all of your vision for a little while Seeing flashes of light Seeing wavy lines or spots To solve these problems, you’ll need to work with your doctor to treat your migraines and keep them from starting. Could It Be Psoriasis? You may know this condition from these symptoms: Itchy or sore patches of skin Joint pain and inflammation Thick, red, scaly patches on the skin But psoriasis can affect your eyes, too. It can cause a condition called uveitis, when inflammation leads to swelling that causes blurred vision, pain, redness, and sensitivity to light. Treatments can get rid of uveitis, but the type you need will depend on which part of your eye is affected. Could It Be Multiple Sclerosis? Blurry vision is often one of the earliest symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS). The disease causes inflammation along the nerve that connects your eyes to your brain, called the optic nerve. That causes a condition called optic neuritis, which can give you blurry sight, loss of color vision, and pain when you move your eyes. It often happens in just one eye. Besides blurry vision, MS also causes: Trouble with balance Bladder and bowel problems Dizziness Feeling very tired Numbness Stiffness Weakness Optic neuritis doesn’t necessarily mean you have MS, so talk to your doctor about what’s causing it. The problem often goes away on its own, but your doctor can give you some medications to help you heal faster. CONTINUED Could It Be a Brain Tumor? Scary, but true: A tumor in any part of your brain can make pressure build inside your skull. That can cause many symptoms, including blurred vision. Other signs of a possible brain tumor are: Drowsiness Headache that won’t go away Nausea Personality changes Seizures Vomiting If your doctor thinks you might have a brain tumor, she’ll use different tests to check how well your brain and spinal cord work, as well as imaging tests to see inside your head.

Hypertension & Hypnosis

While hypnosis doesn't replace the care of your physician for high blood pressure, it can be a complimentary practice to help you manage. This recording is best experienced with reasonably high quality headphones. Obviously don't listen or watch this while driving an automobile or operating machinery. It will require your full attention. I would suggest watching/listening to this once a day for at least three weeks. Then you can reduce it to 3 times a week. Monitor your blood pressure and at some point you may have your subconscious trained to the point where you won't need to listen any longer--unless you enjoy it, of course. It's fine to go to sleep while you listen. For more information about hypnosis go to http://glenbledsoe.com © 2014 Glen Bledsoe Hypnosis

Blood pressure is the force the circulating blood EXERTS on the walls of blood vessels. It is different in different types of vessels, but the term ”blood pressure”, when not specified otherwise, refers to ARTERIAL pressure in the SYSTEMIC circulation. When the heart contracts and pumps blood into the aorta, during systole, the aortic pressure RISES, and so does the systemic arterial pressure. The maximum pressure following an ejection is called the SYSTOLIC pressure. In between heart beats, when the ventricles refill, blood pressure FALLS to its lowest value called the DIASTOLIC pressure. THESE are the 2 numbers on a blood pressure reading. Blood pressure normally shows a daily pattern and is usually lower at night. During day-time, it fluctuates with physical activities and emotional states. Hypertension refers to a PERSISTENT HIGH blood pressure. In the US, high blood pressure used to be defined as greater than 140/90, but recent guidelines have changed these values to 130/80 to better prevent and treat the condition. Normal blood pressure is BELOW 120/80. In practice, blood pressure is considered TOO low ONLY if it produces symptoms. Hypertension does NOT cause symptoms on its own, but it slowly DAMAGES blood vessels, and in the long-term, is a MAJOR risk factor for a variety of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, aneurysm and heart attack; as well as end organ damage such as renal failure or vision loss. For this reason, hypertension is known as the “SILENT killer”. Hypertension can be classified as primary or secondary, with the former being responsible for over 90% of cases. Primary hypertension has NO apparent cause and may develop as a result of old age, obesity, high-salt diet, lack of exercise, smoking and drinking. Most commonly, the blood vessels are hardened with age or unhealthy diets, making it harder for blood to flow. Secondary hypertension, on the other hand, is caused by an underlying condition. Many conditions and factors can cause hypertension; most notable are kidney problems and endocrine disturbances. Regardless of the cause, the INcrease in blood pressure is produced by EITHER an INcrease in vascular resistance - narrower or stiffer blood vessels; OR an INcrease in cardiac output – larger volume of blood pumped out by the heart. These 2 factors are the targets of antihypertensive drugs. Treatments must start with life style changes such as healthy, low-sodium diets, physical exercise and stress management. On top of that, antihypertensive agents may be used to control hypertension. These include: - Vasodilators: these drugs DILATE blood vessels, thereby DEcreasing vascular resistance and reducing blood pressure. - Diuretics: diuretics promote sodium and water removal by the kidneys and thereby DEcrease blood volume. - Drugs that DEcrease cardiac output by decreasing heart rate or contractility, may also be used to treat hypertension.

Diabetes Retinopathy: Symptoms, Causes, Prevention and Treatments

03:08
Definition Diabetic retinopathy is a diabetes complication that affects eyes. It's caused by damage to the blood vessels of the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye (retina). At first, diabetic retinopathy may cause no symptoms or only mild vision problems. Eventually, it can cause blindness. Symptoms You might not have symptoms in the early stages of diabetic retinopathy. As the condition progresses, diabetic retinopathy symptoms may include: - Spots or dark strings floating in your vision (floaters) - Blurred vision - Fluctuating vision - Impaired color vision - Dark or empty areas in your vision - Vision loss Causes Over time, too much sugar in your blood can lead to the blockage of the tiny blood vessels that nourish the retina, cutting off its blood supply. As a result, the eye attempts to grow new blood vessels. But these new blood vessels don't develop properly and can leak easily. Risk factors Anyone who has diabetes can develop diabetic retinopathy. Risk of developing the eye condition can increase as a result of: - Duration of diabetes — the longer you have diabetes, the greater your risk of developing diabetic retinopathy - Poor control of your blood sugar level - High blood pressure - High cholesterol - Pregnancy - Tobacco use - Being black, Hispanic or Native American Prevention If you have diabetes, reduce your risk of getting diabetic retinopathy by doing the following: - Manage your diabetes - Monitor your blood sugar level - Keep your blood pressure and cholesterol under control - If you smoke or use other types of tobacco, ask your doctor to help you quit - Pay attention to vision changes - Ask your doctor about a glycosylated hemoglobin test Treatments Treatment, which depends largely on the type of diabetic retinopathy you have and how severe it is, is geared to slowing or stopping progression of the condition. 1. Early diabetic retinopathy If you have mild or moderate nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy, you may not need treatment right away. However, your eye doctor will closely monitor your eyes to determine when you might need treatment. When diabetic retinopathy is mild or moderate, good blood sugar control can usually slow the progression. 2. Advanced diabetic retinopathy If you have proliferative diabetic retinopathy or macular edema, you'll need prompt surgical treatment. Focal laser treatment This laser treatment, also known as photocoagulation, can stop or slow the leakage of blood and fluid in the eye. During the procedure, leaks from abnormal blood vessels are treated with laser burns. Scatter laser treatment This laser treatment, also known as panretinal photocoagulation, can shrink the abnormal blood vessels. During the procedure, the areas of the retina away from the macula are treated with scattered laser burns. The burns cause the abnormal new blood vessels to shrink and scar. Vitrectomy This procedure uses a tiny incision in your eye to remove blood from the middle of the eye (vitreous) as well as scar tissue that's tugging on the retina. It's done in a surgery center or hospital using local or general anesthesia.

Things Your Eyes Are Trying To Tell You About Your Health

Diabetes Very often, people have diabetes and don't know it, but an ophthalmologist would easily be able to spot damage to the retina that might indicate its presence. If your vision is becoming increasingly poor or blurry and you have a history of diabetes in your family, have a specialist check your retina for hemorrhages called diabetic retinopathy. It could be caused by diabetes. Brain Trauma Getty Images Brain Trauma If you ever notice that your pupils are different sizes, contact your doctor immediately. Different-sized pupils, or anisocoria, can be a sign of aneurysms, tumors, migraines, meningitis, and bleeding into the skull. Take note if the anisocoria is also accompanied by light sensitivity, pain, or loss of vision. Myasthenia Gravis Myasthenia Gravis Myasthenia gravis, an auto-immune disorder characterized by muscle weakness, can oftentimes manifest itself in ophthalmic symptoms. These can include ptosis, which is when the lids of both eyes become droopy, or diplopia, also known as double vision. Other facial muscles may also be affected by this disorder. Jaundice Getty Images Jaundice Liver diseases such as cirrhosis or hepatitis, as well as gallbladder or pancreas disease, can often be identified by jaundice. Jaundice is the yellowing of the skin due to the buildup of bilirubin, the byproduct of old red blood cells an unhealthy liver can't process. Jaundice can sometimes be seen occurring in the whites of the eyes, and you should call your doctor immediately if this occurs. High Blood Pressure Getty Images High Blood Pressure Ophthalmologists can detect evidence of high blood pressure by examining the retina. The pressure can cause blood vessels in the retina to kink and twist and fluid to leak out. You most likely wouldn't be aware of these issues until you took an eye exam, but you may experience headaches and vision problems. Cataracts Cataracts When the eye has a cloudy appearance, it could be a sign of cataracts, which most often appear in older people. The condition can be corrected with surgery. When cataracts arise in younger people, the cause can be a variety of factors, including diabetes and tumors. Skin Cancer Skin Cancer If you notice a sore that doesn't heal on your eyelid, you should talk to your doctor immediately. Basal cell carcinomas can lead to severe disfigurement, blindness, and even death in some cases. High Cholesterol High Cholesterol If you notice small yellow bumps around your eyes and on the lids, it may be a sign of high cholesterol. The bumps are fatty deposits called xanthelasma palpebrarum, or simply "cholesterol bumps." Most people do not develop this condition until after the age of thirty, and the condition seems to affect females slightly more often than males. Multiple Sclerosis Getty Images Multiple Sclerosis The optic nerve that transmits visual information from the retina to the brain is supposed to be pink. However, a pale optic nerve could indicate the onset of multiple sclerosis (MS) or a brain tumor or aneurysm.

💓 What’s Worse - Low or High Blood Pressure?

How I Lowered My Dad’s Blood Pressure In Just A Few days - NO Drugs or Diets. 👉👉 http://drsam.co/yt/Improve-BP 3 Pressure Points That’ll Instantly Lower Your Blood Pressure Naturally: 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYdPjTGeVI4 #bloodpressure ==================================== 💓 What’s Worse - Low or High Blood Pressure? ==================================== The other day I was asked an in important and interesting question: “Dr. Sam - I have borderline high blood pressure and my wife typically has low blood pressure, what’s worst for your health?” So, the fast answer is that in the “short run”, it’s low blood pressure. In the long run, it’s high blood pressure. But, let me quickly explain... What Do The Numbers Mean To understand blood pressure reading, it is important to understand what blood pressure is. As you already know, the heart pumps blood through the chambers of the heart, then it goes to the vessels to transport the blood throughout the body with the circulatory system. Your blood pressure measures the pumping action of the heart. The top number reading is known as the systolic blood pressure, it is the force exerted on the walls of the arteries when the heart contracts to pump oxygenated blood. The bottom reading is the diastolic blood pressure. It is the pressure reading when the heart is resting in between beats. Category Systolic BP (top) Diastolic BP (bottom) Severe Hypotension (low) 50 – 59 mmHg 33 – 39 mmHg Serious Hypotension (low) 60 – 89 mmHg 40 – 49 mmHg Borderline Hypotension (low) 90 – 109 mmHg 50 – 69 mmHg Normal Blood Pressure 110 – 119 mmHg 60 – 79 mmHg Prehypertension (high) 120 – 139 mmHg 80 – 89 mmHg Stage 1 Hypertension (high) 140 – 159 mmHg 90 – 99 mmHg Stage 2 Hypertension (high) 160 – 180 mmHg 100 – 110 mmHg Hypertensive Crisis (high) Higher than 180 mmHg Higher than 110 mmHg Signs and Symptoms of Hypotension and Hypertension Hypotension Hypertension Dizziness Lightheadedness Syncope Blurring of vision Inability to concentrate Nausea Cold, clammy skin Pallor Thirst Body weakness Rapid and shallow breathing Tachycardia Dizziness Severe Headache Nose bleeding Irregular heartbeat Chest pain Blurring of vision Fatigue or body weakness Confusion Difficulty of breathing Hematuria Nausea and vomiting Normal, Low & High Ideally, you want your blood pressure to fall within the normal range, most of the day. However, those who suffer from stress, anxiety, high cholesterol, obesity and the like, they have increased risk of having a high blood pressure and in severe cases it can lead to heart attack or stroke. On the other end, some people suffer from low blood pressure due to certain diseases or conditions, this can lead to shock or even worse – death. Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension) Low blood pressure is alarming because it can be very life threatening if prompt medical attention is not rendered. The causes range from dehydration, blood loss and some surgical disorders. It is manageable as long as the origin of the condition is determined and properly treated. BOTTOM LINE: In the short run, low BP is worse because you can go into shock and die. Or simply pass out and if it’s while driving or something similar, could result in death or bad accident. However, this is more extreme and rare. High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) Blood pressure constantly changes throughout the day depending on the level of activity, physical and emotional status. If your blood pressure is elevated and stays elevated throughout the day and continues for a few days or weeks, then it’s something to be concerned about. Something interesting to note is that the older you get, the higher the blood pressure typically becomes and this is due to a variety of lifestyle reasons (poor diet, lack of exercise, being overweight, etc.). However, the primary cause/reason for higher blood pressure as you age, is due to the negative changes in your hormones. But don’t worry, there’s hope. I discuss this in further detail at my website because I have a family history of hypertension. You can get the details by clicking the link below, in the description area at the end of this video. So don’t go there just yet... BOTTOM LINE: High blood pressure is a problem when it’s consistent and ongoing because of the pressure it puts on your organs (heart, brain, kidneys, etc.) and the end result could be a heart attack or stroke. Thus, in the long-run, high blood pressure is worse. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Please feel free to comment, like or share with your friends. Health Tips - Warning Signs Of High Blood Pressure That You Shouldn’t Ignore

06:30
High Blood Pressure Symptoms. Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11 As our blood flows through the vessels and arteries throughout our body, it creates a certain amount of pressure on them. Normal blood pressure is considered to be 140/90 and lower than that. The first number refers to the systolic blood pressure, which is the pressure of the heart when it beats. The second number is the diastolic blood pressure and it is the strain measurement of the heart when it relaxes during beats. Which factors can lead to an elevated blood pressure? Stress can definitely trigger the occurrence of high blood pressure. When we are under stress, our body produces stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol, which instantly causes blood pressure to rise. In stressful situations, our blood vessels constrict, putting more pressure on the artery walls as the blood flows through them. Genes also have a part to play. If your close relatives suffer from elevated blood pressure, the likelihood that you will be affected is bigger too. The good news is that we can control some of the risk factors by leading a healthy lifestyle and eating healthily. Nutrition also plays a major role. Diet high in saturated fats and sodium can significantly increase the risk of hypertension. It is therefore recommended that we eat an abundance of whole foods that are low in sodium and high in heart-friendly fats, vitamins, minerals and fiber. Sm0king, as well as excessive alcohol and caffeine intake, can also lead to a high blood pressure, in addition to leading a sedentary lifestyle and being overweight. The likelihood also grows with age. People who suffer from disorders of the endocrine system, diabetes, high cholesterol, and kidney problems are more commonly affected by elevated blood pressure. In some persons, hypertension can suddenly rear its ugly head in pregnancy, in which case it has to be treated instantly since it can lead to preterm delivery and other serious complications in both mother and the baby. Why is it so important to treat high blood pressure? Elevated blood pressure means that the heart and the blood vessels are under a bigger amount of strain than they should be normally. This condition increases the risk of having a heart attack and/or stroke, kidney disorders and dementia. The limbs are also affected by an increased blood pressure – the peripheral arteries in the legs suffer too. What are the warning signs to look for? The dangerous feature of hypertension is that it can go without symptoms. Some people are not even aware that they suffer from it. It is, therefore, necessary to have regular health checkups. The following symptoms, however, indicate a dangerous rise in your blood pressure and they have to be treated by a physician immediately: Blurred vision. Bleeding from the nose. A pounding sensation in the neck and in the ears. Severe headache. Blood in urine. A feeling of numbness. Heavy and difficult breathing. A feeling of lightheadedness and frequent dizziness. Bad circulation. What are the methods for treating hypertension? It is essential that you promptly consult your physician in case you notice a rise in your blood pressure. It can be controlled by a combination of medication and some lifestyle changes. Moderate exercising is considered as a natural way to control hypertension. When we exercise, the oxygen intake is increased and the blood vessels are widened, not to mention the stress relief that we obtain from being physical active. What about nutrition? When it comes to the role of nutrition, DASH diet is the recommended option not only for reducing blood pressure but for improving and maintaining health in general. The abbreviation DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. It includes the following: consuming dairy products that have a low-fat content; eating a variety of fresh produce; choosing fish, poultry, grains and nuts as a rich source of protein rather than foods that are high in cholesterol and saturated fats. 6 Warning Signs a Stroke Is Coming

07:37
What happens when you experience a stroke? Cerebral Stroke is a leading cause of serious disability in the US at the moment. Each year thousands of people suffer from it, and a lot of them are first-timers. According to The Internet Stroke Center, every year almost 800,000 people suffer from stroke, and only for 150,000 of them is it a recurrence. The most accurate way to describe it is “a heart attack for your brain.” A cerebral stroke occurs when some parts of the brain get interrupted. As a result, the body can't function normally and needs urgent medical attention to get back to its normal state. The most confusing thing about a stroke is that even though its symptoms usually develop quickly, it can still take hours or even days to notice that something's wrong. However, there are some red flags you should never ignore no matter how minor they seem at the moment. TIMESTAMPS: High blood pressure 1:29 Vision problems 2:09 Numbness on one side of the body 2:42 Dizziness or fatigue without any reason 3:10 A sudden migraine or severe headache 3:37 Stiffness in the neck or shoulder pain 4:06 Risk factors 4:45 What you should do if you have a stroke 6:06 #cerebralstroke #strokesymptoms #migraine Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - High blood pressure is never a good thing. It can lead to a whole bunch of serious problems, including a stroke, because it damages the nerves in your brain and weakens the blood vessels. - Strokes can affect your eyesight as well. It can cause double vision, blurred vision, and even a notable loss of vision in one eye. - You’ve probably heard that numbness or weakness in the face, an arm, or a leg on either side of your body is a common sign of an upcoming stroke. - A study conducted by the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan showed that vertigo and dizziness are one of the most frequent factors among patients who had a stroke. - Strong headaches and migraines never appear out of thin air. In case of a stroke, it happens simply because the blood flow to the brain is either blocked or cut off due to an interruption in the bloodstream. - A ruptured blood vessel in the brain can easily cause a stiff neck or shoulder pain. To find out whether it's actually “stroke bad” or not, try to touch your chest with your chin. - Risk factors that can get you in trouble include alcohol and drug abuse, obesity, an unhealthy diet, depression, anxiety, and a sedentary lifestyle. All these things trigger certain processes in your body that can result in a stroke one way or another. - If it happens and there’s no one around to help you, call 911 or your local emergency number. Do NOT try to drive yourself to the hospital. As you're waiting for an ambulance, don’t eat or drink anything; your system doesn't need even more work right now. How To Reduce High Blood Pressure Naturally | How To Prevent High Blood Pressure Naturally

03:44
How To Reduce Blood Pressure | How To Prevent Blood Pressure | How To Lower High Blood Pressure | Lifestyle | Diet Hey, guys! This weeks video is about high blood pressure and how you can prevent getting it with simple yet effective lifestyle changes. Healthcare professionals refer to high blood pressure as the silent killer and for a good reason! High blood pressure increases risks of many diseases and shortens your life significantly. WHAT IS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: Blood pressure is measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg) and is given as two figures: Systolic pressure – The pressure when your heart pushes blood out. Diastolic pressure – The pressure when your heart rests between beats. As a general guide: High blood pressure is considered to be 140/90mmHg or higher (or an average of 135/85mmHg at home) Ideal blood pressure is considered to be between 90/60mmHg and 120/80mmHg Low blood pressure is considered to be 90/60mmHg or lower. A blood pressure reading between 120/80mmHg and 140/90mmHg could mean you're at risk of developing high blood pressure if you don't take steps to keep your blood pressure under control. HOW TO PREVENT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE: High blood pressure can often be prevented or reduced by eating healthily, maintaining a healthy weight, taking regular exercise, drinking alcohol in moderation and not smoking. SALT & DIET: Cut down on the amount of salt in your food and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. The NHS Eatwell Guide highlights the different types of food that make up our diet, and shows the proportions we should eat them in to have a well-balanced and healthy diet. Salt raises your blood pressure. The more salt you eat, the higher your blood pressure. Aim to eat less than 6g (0.2oz) of salt a day, which is about a teaspoonful. Eating a low-fat diet that includes lots of fibre – such as wholegrain rice, bread and pasta – and plenty of fruit and vegetables also helps lower blood pressure. Aim to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables every day. Eatwell guide link: https://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Goodfood/Pages/the-eatwell-guide.aspx ALCOHOL INTAKE: Regularly drinking alcohol above recommended limits can raise your blood pressure over time. Staying within these recommended levels is the best way to reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure: Men and women are advised not to regularly drink more than 14 units a week. Spread your drinking over three days or more if you drink as much as 14 units a week. Find out how many units are in your favourite drink and get tips on cutting down: https://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/alcohol/Pages/alcohol-units.aspx GET ACTIVE & LOSE WEIGHT: Being active and taking regular exercise lowers blood pressure by keeping your heart and blood vessels in good condition. Regular exercise can also help you lose weight, which will also help lower your blood pressure. Adults should do at least 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) of moderate-intensity aerobic activity such as cycling or fast walking every week. CUT DOWN CAFFEINE: Drinking more than four cups of coffee a day may increase your blood pressure. If you're a big fan of coffee, tea or other caffeine-rich drinks, such as cola and some energy drinks, consider cutting down. STOP SMOKING: Smoking doesn't directly cause high blood pressure, but it puts you at much higher risk of a heart attack and stroke. Smoking, like high blood pressure, will cause your arteries to narrow. If you smoke and have high blood pressure, your arteries will narrow much more quickly, and your risk of heart or lung disease in the future is dramatically increased. SLEEP: Long-term sleep deprivation is associated with a rise in blood pressure and an increased risk of hypertension. It's a good idea to try to get at least six hours of sleep a night if you can.
