Scripture and Liturgy - with Dr. Scott Hahn
Dr. Hahn discusses how his study of typology and the interconnectedness of the Old and New testaments pointed him, at every turn, toward the historic Catholic Church. He shows the place of tradition in Christian life and how scripture is fundamentally connected to liturgy. He concludes with a discussion of the sacramentality of marriage and the powerful daily liturgy we are called to in the domestic church. (This talk was originally given in 2003 at the CHNetwork's "Deep in History" conference) About the Deep in History Talks from the CHNetwork: Why should we go deep in history? As generations before us have learned, history is the laboratory for thinking about the issues that matter most to us as human beings. By placing ourselves back into another time, we are able to look at our own time with more objectivity; we see its strengths and weaknesses. For Christians, there is the additional truth that ours is a historical faith. Christianity is rooted in the historical facts of Jesus's life. The Church which is his body has lived, grown, and matured in space and time. The surest way to know Jesus and his Church is through the study of history, both biblical and post-biblical. We hope these resources take you deep into the history of Christ's Church and thereby deeper into Christ. Please visit: http://DeepinHistory.com http://CHNetwork.org

The Meaning of Advent
http://www.thereligionteacher.com What is the meaning of Advent? The meaning of the word Advent is "to come" or "coming." So you could say that the definition of Advent, meaning coming, is the liturgical season in which we prepare for the coming of Jesus into the world. We spend the four weeks of Advent in preparation for the coming of Jesus into the world. We celebrate and prepare for two comings: the coming of Jesus into the world at Christmas (the Nativity) and the Second Coming when the Son of Man will return riding on the clouds.

He currently runs the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and is also the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese. He is known nationally for his videos and social and digital presence. Speaking on the meaning of the Mass, Fr. Mike reminds the men, "The heart of religion is worship; and the heart of worship is sacrifice." "Even if [you] don't feel anything (at Mass), it doesn't matter. Why? Motivation to Go to Catholic Mass
You may have heard priests or devout Catholics say something like, “If only people knew what was happening at Mass, they’d be more willing to go.” That may be true, but in this video, Fr. Mike also gets to the more practical—and painfully direct—heart of the matter. He points out that the heart of worship is sacrifice, and ultimately it’s not about how engaged or entertained we are. Mass isn’t about us; it’s about God and what he asks of us. DREAM - MEMORIZE GOD'S WORD, Persecution is Coming
www.IChooseMyEternityNow.wordpress.com Transcript of Dream on Apr 2-3, 2018: (link here soon) Luke 21:12 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. If you are interested to give your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ, and to ask Him to forgive you for your sins and to ask Him to be your Saviour and assign your eternal soul to Him; then you can pray a prayer something like this: Adults or anyone can pray: Dear Jesus Christ, the Son of God: I have much sin in my life and I need You as my Saviour. I am a sinner in need of forgiveness. I am sorry that I have gone against Your Word for my life. Please forgive me for all of my sins. I'm so sorry for my sins against You. I believe You shed Your blood, died on the Cross, rose from the dead on the 3rd day, to pay the full penalty of my sins and to give me eternal life in Heaven with You. Help me to live for You now and to become all You want me to be, in You. Help me to have You at the center of my life from now on and to develop a close and personal relationship with You. I turn from my sinful and selfish lifestyle and strive to please You now instead and have You at the center of my life. I receive Your Holy Spirit into my heart and life right now as a seal that I belong to You now. I pray I'm counted worthy to be included in the Rapture to start my eternity with You then. Help me to share your love with others, so they too can come to know You as their Saviour. Thank you for everything You've done for me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Children and Teens can pray: Dear Jesus Christ, The Son of God: I know I do wrong things. Please forgive me for my sins. I am sorry for the sins - for doing wrong things against You and Your Word. I believe You shed Your blood, died for me on the Cross, rose from the dead on the 3rd day, and paid for my sins in full. Please come into my heart today so that I can go to Heaven when You call for me to go, to live my eternal life with You. I love You Jesus. Thank you for dying for me and for washing my soul clean with Your Blood. I receive Your Holy Spirit into my heart today, as a seal that I belong to You now. I pray I'm counted worthy to escape God's wrath and to go to Heaven in the Rapture to be with You. Thank you for everything You've done for me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Younger children can pray: Dear Jesus Christ, The Son of God: I believe You are the truth. I believe You died for me, so that I can go to Heaven to live with You forever. Thank you for washing me clean with Your Blood and saving me. I believe You love me and that You are God. I receive You today into my heart. Please take me to Heaven with You at the Rapture. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. John Wauck, a Chicago native, is a priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei. He studied Renaissance History and Literature at Harvard University and holds a doctorate in Philosophy from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome), where he currently teaches a course on literature and the communication of the faith. He also teaches the philosophy of art in Catholic University of America's Rome program. Before moving to Italy in 1995, he wrote speeches for the Attorney General of the United States and the Governor of Pennsylvania. He has participated in several documentary films and worked as an on-set consultant on one major motion picture. Our program is based on the three core statements about sacred art in the Catechism of the Catholic Church: Catechism of the Catholic Church 2502 Sacred art is true and beautiful when its form corresponds to its particular vocation: evoking and glorifying, in faith and adoration, the transcendent mystery of God - the surpassing invisible beauty of truth and love visible in Christ, who "reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature," in whom "the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily." This spiritual beauty of God is reflected in the most holy Virgin Mother of God, the angels, and saints. Genuine sacred art draws man to adoration, to prayer, and to the love of God, Creator and Savior, the Holy One and Sanctifier. 2503 For this reason bishops, personally or through delegates, should see to the promotion of sacred art, old and new, in all its forms and, with the same religious care, remove from the liturgy and from places of worship everything which is not in conformity with the truth of faith and the authentic beauty of sacred art. 2513 The fine arts, but above all sacred art, "of their nature are directed toward expressing in some way the infinite beauty of God in works made by human hands. Their dedication to the increase of God's praise and of his glory is more complete, the more exclusively they are devoted to turning men's minds devoutly toward God" (SC 122). Spiritual Content Due to the sacred nature of the art that we teach, it is our belief that, if we are to be consistent with our mission, an important part of our program should be a daily plan of liturgical and devotional prayer. "Genuine sacred art," which, in the words of the Catechism, 'draws man to adoration, to prayer, and to the love of God', can only spring from minds and hearts that are truly centered on God. SAS Daily Timetable: Spiritual activities in red are encouraged as core to the formation of a sacred artist. During the Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer periods we will be covering recommended prayerful texts for the formation of sacred artists. The idea is to punctuate the day with prayerful and contemplative moments to help us to keep our focus on the source of all Beauty, Truth and Goodness which is Christ fully present in the Blessed Eucharist. Each week there will be an English-speaking priest available for confession and spiritual direction if desired. http://www.donymacmanusstudios.com/spiritual_content.html

What is CATECHISM? What does CATECHISM mean? CATECHISM meaning, definition & explanation
What is CATECHISM? What does CATECHISM mean? CATECHISM meaning, definition & explanation. A catechism is a summary or exposition of doctrine and serves as a learning introduction to the Sacraments traditionally used in catechesis, or Christian religious teaching of children and adult converts. Catechisms are doctrinal manuals - often in the form of questions followed by answers to be memorised - a format that has been used in non-religious or secular contexts as well. The term catechumen refers to the designated recipient of the catechetical work or instruction. In the Catholic Church, catachumens are those who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. Traditionally, they would be placed separately during Holy Mass from those who baptized, and would be dismissed from the liturgical assembly before the Profession of Faith (Creed) and General Intercessions (Prayers of the Faithful). Early catecheticals emerged from Graeco-Roman mystery religions, especially the late cult of Mithras meant to educate their members into the secretive teachings, which competed with the Christian Church as an underground religion in the 1st to 4th centuries CE and allegedly shared its many ritual practices. Today, they are characteristic of Western Christianity but are also present in Eastern Christianity.

The Holy Spirit | Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen | Catholic Podcast
According to Roman Catholic theology the primary work of the Holy Ghost is through the Church. According to the Encyclical of Pope Leo XIII Divinum illud munus: "...the indwelling and miraculous power of the Holy Ghost; and the extent and efficiency of His action, both in the whole body of the Church and in the individual souls of its members, through the glorious abundance of His divine graces. Through the Church's sacraments, Christ communicates His Holy and sanctifying Spirit to the faithful." Around the 6th century, the word Filioque was added to the Nicene Creed, defining as a doctrinal teaching that the Holy Ghost "proceedeth from the Father and the Son". The holy Council of Florence in 1438 proclaims: "The Holy Ghost is eternally from Father and Son; He has his nature and subsistence at once (simul) from the Father and the Son. He proceeds eternally from both as from one principle and through one spiration. . . . And, since the Father has through generation given to the only-begotten Son everything that belongs to the Father, except being Father, the Son has also eternally from the Father, from whom he is eternally born, that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Son." In the Church, the Western tradition professes the consubstantial communion between the Father and the Son, by saying that the Spirit proceeds in eternity from the Father and the Son (filioque). It says this, "legitimately and with good reason",[6] for the eternal order of the divine persons in their consubstantial communion implies that the Father, as "the principle without principle",[6][7] is the first origin of the Spirit, but also that as Father of the only Son, he is, with the Son, the single principle from which the Holy Spirit proceeds." Since the Council of Florence, greater theological discussion between the Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Church, has developed a greater sense of agreement on the matter. Both the East and West have agreed that the same essential meaning can be expressed in the belief that the Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son and from the Father through the Son. Although certain disagreements do continue beyond the Filioque clause on the matters of God's nature, the co-equality of the Trinity, the Eastern belief in a "Monarchy of the Father", and relational Subordinationism. While the Eastern Catholic churches are required to believe the doctrinal teaching contained in the Filioque, they are not all required to insert it in the Creed when it is recited during the Divine Liturgy, so as to use the liturgical text as it was in antiquity.

The Ultimate Lenten Activity for Families | The Lent Weekly Print Pack
Here's the Ultimate Lent Activity for Families - no daily booklet or Lent Activity Calendar required. All you need is this little box and for your family to gather once a week. We know how busy life gets and our intentions before the Liturgical Seasons are so high (for example - I bet we all rocked the First Sunday of Advent, even the first week ... but by the time Christmas rolled around we were dragging our feet to the Liturgical finish line). My bookmarks always end up stuck in week 2 of any daily or weekly reflection books. Now - with Lent being much more penitential than Advent (and 2 weeks longer too!!) we wanted to create a super simple, absolutely doable way to re-engage our hearts into the Liturgical rhythm of Lent every week. Enter: Lent Weekly Print Pack! The Lent Weekly Print Pack comes with 8 - 4x6 decorative Surprise (!!!) Prints with a meditation for the week to display using your mini-easel. The Prints are designed using the Gospel from the First Sunday of Lent through Easter Sunday (8 weeks). This is a phrase, word, prayer or bible verse is designed to catch your eye, remind you of the theme of the week and inspire you in your Lenten fast. Each Print also comes with a Challenge of the week to help your family dive more deeply into the Pillars of Lent [Prayer - Fasting - Almsgiving]. This challenge is not to replace your personal fasting but rather, it's something to do together as a family to prepare for Easter. Enter into Lent with one simple surprise envelope each week. Open it up and see what Christ has in store for you! https://www.frameablefaith.com/produ…/lent-weekly-print-pack
