Makita® has released a powerful and portable clean-up and dust extraction solution with the new 18V X2 LXT® Lithium-Ion (36V) Brushless Cordless 1/2 Gallon HEPA Filter Backpack Vacuum (XCV05Z, Tool Only).
The XCV05Z is powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries, giving users the extended run-time of 36V but without leaving the 18V battery platform. The cordless backpack design and efficient HEPA filtration system makes it ideal for cleaning crews, as well as for contractors when used as part of a dust extraction system (tool connecting adapters sold separately).
Powerful and Portable
“For cleaning crews on airlines and in schools, hotels, offices, or any other jan-san application, this is a powerful and portable solution that eliminates long and hazardous extension cords that trail a corded backpack vacuum,” said Carlos Quintana, Senior Product Manager, Cordless Products, Makita USA. “It’s also a great dust extraction tool for contractors, bridging the gap between low-capacity on-board dust extraction systems and larger-capacity but less portable wheeled-canister job site vacuums. For applications like overhead concrete drilling from a scissor lift, the XCV05Z is a portable vacuum system with no extension cord, fewer obstructions and greater ease-of-use”.
Makita 18V X2 tools allow contractors to use two 18V batteries to take on the most demanding applications, delivering the watt-hours and amp-hours of a 36V battery – but without having to manage multiple battery platforms or investing in larger, heavier higher-voltage batteries. The 18V LXT® batteries used in the XCV05Z are the same 18V batteries a contractor can use on their Makita drill, impact driver, and over 125 other Makita cordless tools.
World’s Largest Cordless Tool Line-Up
The XCV05Z is part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion series. With over 125 tools it is the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. As part of the expanding 18V LXT® Series, Makita offers eleven 18V X2 LXT® (36V) tools powered by two 18V batteries including the new XCV05Z as well as a 2.1 gallon vacuum, recipro saw, dual slide compound miter saw, rotary hammer, circular saw, hedge trimmer, string trimmer, chain saw and two blowers.
Efficient BL™ Brushless Motor
The XCV05Z delivers up to 90 minutes of continuous operation on low setting and 60 minutes on the high setting when using two 18V LXT® 5.0Ah batteries (BL1850B, sold separately). The efficient BL™ Brushless Motor generates 53 CFM of suction power and 28.5” of static water lift. The HEPA filter combined with the filter bag captures large, small and micro-dust particulates, and the half-gallon dust collection container is easily removed for dust disposal.
Performance and Ease-of-Use
The XCV05Z has a flexible 39” hose, with a telescoping extension wand that provides 20” to 34” of additional reach. The push button power selection controller has high and low settings and attaches to the waist belt of the harness, with an L.E.D. light for improved visibility. The vacuum has a compact design and weighs only 9.4 lbs. (with empty dust bag and two 18V 5.0Ah batteries, batteries sold separately). The padded shoulder straps and waist belt have multiple adjustments for a comfortable fit.
Star Protection Computer Controls™
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita 18V LXT® tools features Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the XCV05Z can be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside, including 18V Lithium-Ion 2.0Ah, 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah, and 5.0Ah batteries, as well as the upcoming 18V 6.0Ah battery (available August 2016).
