You will only use these until about two or three weeks after you get home then order some stockings at 30-40mm for the next 4-6weeks and then go to 40-50mm. This will also make going to the toilet a lot more difficult. Until you can get the fluid in your body down (ask doc to use lasix for that) you will be in great pain and pretty immobile and severely constipated and unable to pee. Legs seem to have a mind of their own. Who hasn’t been ready to slip off to dream world when suddenly your legs begin to contract and cramp? Strangely, they don’t seem to cramp during the day. These nocturnal cramps are common and can prevent a good night’s sleep. They can also generate pain in the feet, calves and thighs. Cramps last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Occasionally, they last for days. In today’s video, we’ll explore ways to prevent leg cramps. The 3 major causes of leg cramps are: - Lack of exercise - Dehydration - Poor blood flow Let’s look at a few ways to prevent leg cramps: Magnesium deficiency Magnesium is an all-purpose mineral and works wonders in alleviating leg cramps. To add magnesium to your diet, eat plenty of dark leafy greens, bananas and dates. Other magnesium-rich foods include pumpkin seeds, yogurt, and dark chocolate. Another way to add magnesium is to use its oil form. Simply massage on your legs before turning in for the night. Make Your Own Magnesium Oil Ingredients ½ cup Magnesium Chloride Flakes; ½ cup distilled water; Directions Pour water into a pan and bring to a boil; Add magnesium flakes; Stir continuously until they are dissolved; Remove from heat and cool; Pour mixture into a spray bottle; Apply 5 – 10 sprays to each leg one hour prior to bedtime. Get Your Daily Dose of Vitamin D If you are eating healthy and drinking enough water and still have leg cramps, you may have a Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is what prompts the body to properly absorb calcium. Without enough vitamin D, the calcium isn’t able to balance fluids in your body. One source of vitamin D is exposure to the sun. Another way is to eat seafood. Still one more way is to simply take a supplement. Stretching Exercises Performing a few slow and easy stretches can stimulate blood flow, which will then transport oxygen and vital nutrients throughout your muscles and body. Here’s an easy stretch: Find a small ledge/incline (think – vehicle gas pedal); Rest the ball of your foot on it and allow your heel to touch the floor; Slowly shift your weight forward (pressing the pedal); Hold this position for 2 seconds; Return to starting position and rest for 10 seconds; Repeat 6-8 times on each foot. This exercise should allow you to feel a good stretch. It can stretch calves, which is where most cramps originate. A note of caution; keep the incline low. Perhaps just stack one book on top of another. Otherwise, you will put too much pressure on your calves. Need Instant Relief from Cramps? Try this simple exercise: First, extend your cramped leg straight out in front of you and flex your ankles Point toes up, toward your knee Grab your toes for a good stretch Stand up straight and take a few slow steps to increase blood flow Massage your calves with your fingers, in a circular motion. Electrolyte Imbalance If you aren’t drinking enough water, you may have an electrolyte imbalance. Here’s an easy recipe to make your own effective electrolyte beverage. Ingredients 1 quart of water; 6 tsps sugar (or ¼ cup organic honey); ¼ to ½ tsp unionized sea salt; Juice from one lemon; 2 limes; Add a few cubes of ice and enjoy this drink daily. The most common cause of ACL ruptures: •Traumatic force being applied during twisting motion. •Side stepping or landing from a jump. Patient complains of: •Immediate pain •Knee giving way •Swelling Aspiration of the knee •If aspiration of the knee joint shows evidence of blood within the joint there is 75-80% chance of ACL and meniscal injury. Lachamn’s test- ACL knee exam •Knee is flexed at 30 degrees. •ACL tear of the knee is identified by pulling on the tibia and examining the frontward motion of the lower leg in comparison to the upper leg. Radiological exam – ACL •MRI of the knee joint shows bone lesions or bruising associated with tears of the ACL. Injury is found in the typical location; middle of the femoral condyle and posterior part of the tibia laterally. Posterior cruciate ligament tear (PCL) •Common cause of injury is a bent knee hitting a dashboard in a car accident. Tibial Sag Test –PCL knee exam Quadriceps active test-PCL knee exam •The examiner stabilizes the leg of the patient and then the patient is asked to actively contract the quadriceps muscle. •The tibia is seen actively reduced from the posterior subluxed position. Lachman’s test-PCL knee exam •Knee is bent 20-30 degrees. •The posterior drawer test is carried out while the patient is in a supine position and the knee is flexed to 90 degrees. •The amount of translation of the tibia relative to the femur is observed. The dial test is performed while the patient is in the supine or prone position and both knees are in 90 and 30 degrees of flexion. More than 10 degrees of external rotation indicates significant injury. Common meniscal tears Symptoms include •Knee pain •Pain with straightening the knee •Swelling •Locking •Weakness

This prank, though... we take it all the way, with the EXPLODING GUTS prank. Normally when a bodybuilder or weightlifter strains too hard his only danger is a hernia, but in the most epic weight lifting accident ever, this guy attempts to break the world record for clean and jerk (though, his form isn't very good) and things go horribly wrong. Instead of a broken world record for weightlifting he gets a broken stomach and mangled body, when his guts burst out of his abdomen. The hard part about these special effects pranks (sfx pranks) is that they are very hard to make look real. We had to do make it really look like real guts and real gore were bursting out of his stomach. Kind of like the chest burster scene in alien. We used CO2 cannisters and a camel pack bladder, hidden inside of a weightbelt, and triggered by wireless remote to make this prank look real. Look at the audience reactions and you'll see that people really believed a man's guts were exploding. Careful, it's gross, but at least it wasn't the weightlifter prolapsed rectum video that went around a while back. I will also show you what it may mean about your general health and what you can do about it Let’s get straight into it No 1. Sudden Hair loss on the feet and toes What this might mean is you have Serious circulation problems You may think not having hair on your toes is a good thing especially during sandal season, but having hair on your toes is actually a good thing. Get it checked out Sudden baldness can be a sign that your feet aren’t getting enough blood flow to sustain hair growth. Expect your doctor to check for a pulse in your feet, which is an indication that your heart may not be able to pump enough blood to your feet. 2. You feel Frequent foot cramping What this may mean is your suffering from either Dehydration or nutritional deficiencies Randomly occurring cramps are extremely common in the feet so don’t get too worried. They can be as serious as circulation and nerve issues, or as harmless as a nutritional deficiency. If you’re exercising, be sure to drink plenty of water, since dehydration often leads to muscle cramping. You might also try upping your intake of potassium, magnesium, and calcium (with your doctor’s go-ahead, of course), since their deficiencies make cramps more common. Or you may like to try For relief, soaking your feet in a warm foot bath and stretching your toes toward your nose, not pointing down. If the cramps don’t let up, see your doctor who can test for circulation issues or nerve damage. 3. A sore that won’t heal What this may mean – well its probably a sore that’s taking time to heal but it could also mean Diabetes or skin cancer Stubborn sores are red flags for diabetes. Uncontrolled glucose levels in the blood can lead to nerve damage all the way down to your feet, which means any cuts, sores, or scrapes can come and go without you ever feeling it. If infection sets in you could be in trouble. A non-healing wound can also be a sign of skin cancer. Melanoma can pop up anywhere on your body—even in between your toes—so be sure to include your feet in your regular skin checks. (Brush up on your mole-detecting skills here.) 4. constantly cold feet What this may mean: Hypothyroidism Hypothyroidism is the most common cause of feet that just can’t get warm. And if you’re over 40, you could be living with a sluggish thyroid without even knowing it. Unfortunately, cold feet are the least of your problems—hypothyroidism can also cause hair loss, fatigue, unexplained weight gain, and depression. Get your feet feeling toasty again by heading to your doctor for a simple blood test, and you’ll start warming up shortly after starting the daily medication. 5. A Sudden enlarged big toe What it might mean: Gout or other inflammatory issue if you The sudden onset of a red, hot, swollen, or painful joint then get immediate medical attention,”. Bunions are actually a sign of a flawed foot structure that’s often inherited and aggravated by inappropriate shoes. 7. Heel pain especially in the morning What it might mean: Plantar fasciitis You can’t mistake it—that sharp pain in the bottom of the heel when you get out of bed or stand up from a chair. It’s a strain of the ligament that supports the arch of the foot. whether you did it by wearing too-tight shoes, walking in flip-flops, or wearing worn-out workout trainers, the longer you let it go, the longer it takes to heal. Your podiatrist will probably tell you to ease up on walking at first, rethink your footwear, and adopt a good stretching routine. 8. Flaky, itchy, or peeling skin What this may mean: a Fungal infection Even if you’re never donned an athletic jersey in your life, you could still be walking around with athlete’s foot—which is basically a fungal infection. It causes itchiness and peeling, and can be treated by applying anti-fungal cream and keeping your feet as cool and dry as possible during the day.

My heart was functioned at 100%, no enlargement, blockages, etc. However they discovered I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve. You suppose to have a tricuspid valve. Next they are going to do a CatScan to see if there is calcification of my aorta. There is probably leakage so the reason for the edema. Overall I'm happy to know what is going on.

Peripheral Artery Disease Treatment by world renown surgeon Dr. Julio Rodriguez Lopez of Western Vascular Institute Arizona. Performed in Western Vascular Institute's In-Office Cath Lab. Peripheral vascular disease PVD / Peripheral Arterial Disease – is a chronic disease where plaque gradually builds up in the arteries leading to limited blood flow or entirely block the flow of blood also called an occlusion. This Plaque that builds up in your arteries and veins is a waxy fatty substance caused by high levels of cholesterol and worsened by smoking. The plaque builds up on the arterial or vessel wall as it passes through the vessels along with the blood and can lead to the hardening or atherosclerosis of the arteries and eventual occlusion. Peripheral arterial disease is a very common disease affecting 1 in 20 Americans over the age of 50. Symptoms: Fatigue or cramping of the muscles in the calf, hip, thigh, or buttock muscles. Discomfort after walking even with rest. Pain in toes while resting, & open wound on toes or feet. Risk Factors: Age over 50 yrs. young Overweight, history of stroke or heart disease. Other risk factors include diabetes, family history of high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or PAD/PVD, smoking & not enough exercise. Causes: Smoking, high cholesterol, genetic factors including heredity, diabetes, obesity. Diagnosis: Your vascular surgeon will perform a physical examination and will most likely perform the following tests: a. Ankle Brachial Index or ABI test for a blood pressure comparison of the upper and lower peripheral system. b. A duplex ultrasound and doppler ultrasound will be performed to evaluate the flow of blood through the vessels and identify any occlusions or narrowed areas. c. Angiography- a contrast medium or dye is injected into the blood vessel under x-ray imaging to allow the doctor to see how the blood flows through the arteries and veins and locate blockages in the flow of blood. Treatment: Conservative treatment Our Surgeons will usually recommend a patient to begin medication management and lifestyle changes. These changes include increasing exercise, quitting smoking, controlling blood pressure, controlling diabetes and controlling cholesterol. In addition to exercise the patient is encourage to eat a healthy diet and try to lose weight to decrease the pressure on the peripheral arteries. Minimally Invasive surgical treatment If conservative management is unsuccessful the surgeons will proceed to a more aggressive management of the disease process. Our surgeons will generally suggest performing a balloon angioplasty and stent placement if the blockages are not managed by conservative means. An additional tool the surgeons have to remove the blockage and improve blood flow is a laser atherectomy device. This device allows the surgeons to vaporize the plaque blockage inside of the vessel by using a high energy light (laser). Invasive surgical treatment If minimally invasive treatment is not recommended or if it is unsuccessful invasive surgical techniques are used. Surgical bypass is a open surgical procedure where the affected vessel segment is removed and a natural or synthetic graft is placed to reroute the flow of blood. This procedure does not treat the overall disease process, rather it is used as a means of blockage/occlusion removal.
