Making My Kitchen Island - With LOTS of Storage!
Here's a different design- https://youtu.be/4RMXEjGS1Fw Building your own furniture is great, not only do you get to enjoy something you made, but you also get to completely customize it to your every need. With this project I did just that, I used common materials that where readily available and inexpensive, sized it to fit my kitchen perfectly and built in a ton of storage which created a much more functional kitchen. The entire island can be made from materials from you local hardware store. While a lot of tools and materials where used to build mine, other tools and techniques can be substituted to make the project suit your skill level and available equipment. While I use a soft wood and paint the base in the end, you can use any wood you'd like and finish the base with paint, stain or any finish you prefer. This was an especially satisfying project for me, being the largest project I've built in the new shop and most involved video I'm made so far. I hope you all enjoy the video. Let me know if you have any questions and if you don't mind, share the video on your social media! It was a lot of work and I'd like it to be available to as many people as possible. Thanks again. MODULAR 5 in ONE MULTI workbench turns a bedroom into a workshop WITHIN MINUTES
We are living in an apartment based on two floors. There is neither a basement nor a garage or a free room where I can do my woodworking. Two years ago I finished turning our attic into a living zone with a big open space living room a kitchen and a small office. We moved up stairs and all the rooms of the lower floor have been turned into bed rooms. The last free room left, its the room where I build the tinywoodworkshop by the way, is now turning into a dream-sleeping room for my younger son. I knew from the beginning if I am not able to come out with some great idea of, how to continue making stuff without having a dedicated workspace, my DIY career will be over. I desperately needed a soluten, I knew that this solution has to become something - mobile which I can move around inside our apartment, - it has to be very compact, kind of a folding solution, because there is not much space left for storage - it has to be modular, and extendable, because I need as much functionality as possible - it has to be clean, because I will have to use it inside the bedroom. So I've ended up with this tinywoodworkshop. - It is mobile, so i can take it wherever i want, - it is compact once it is folded up it does not need much space any more. - it is multifunctional and extendable, which means I can use it as a table saw, as a router table, an upside down mounted jig saw with a super flexible blade guide which works a bit like a band saw. I can use is as a sanding station and with a circular saw based simple jig I am even able to joint lumber. - its clean, a modular dust collection above and below the table top help to keep the working-zone super clean. I did not know, if the concept of an all-in one workstation with an integrated dust collection will ever work out inside a bed room, until I tried it out. The project, a screw-less hammock stand, was the first project I made with the tinywoodworkshop. The day before I got my second shop vac. Splitting up one shop vac is not enough. But when I made the first cuts with the table saw, I knew, that I have found my way to continue making stuff. How I made the tinywoodworkshop? The build happend inside the last free room of our apartment, which I am turning now into a bed room for my younger son. In the beginning I had a very rough concept in mind of what I wanted to build. I knew that I wanted to work with various machines. The best solution which came into my mind was, having them mounted on insert plates and cutting an opening for these plates. Once I was finished with the table top I wrapped my head around the folding mechanism and the concept, of having a mobile cart, where the folding table-top is mounted on. Then I started to think about the dust collection underneath and above the table-top. This was the hardest part. I knew very well the mess which is created by a table saw, being used without a dust collection. I think two cuts without a dust collection inside the bed room would be enough and you gonna find dust even inside your wardrobe between your clothes. Underneath the table I created a box which can be taken completely apart and above the table top there are various types of hoods. The final step was building all the supports and accessories. I developed my own solution for cross cutting which I call the "crosscut push bar", and I found a quite flexible way to replace feather boards, I am calling it the "bench super flex flat bar". All the accessories and insert plates with the machines are stored on a shelf unit. The shelf unit finds its place on the mobile cart with the folding table top. At the end the tinywoodworkshop is a compact unit which can easily be stored inside our old kitchen room. I am currently going through a learning curve with this equipment - learning by doing. This is the first prototype and there are certainly still a lot of improvements to be done. One of the main concepts of the tinywoodworkshop is, having an extendable workshop, so I will extend the feature set of it. Down the line I will take care of this and I will share this amazing journey here on YouTube. This Video is dedicated to all the amazing and ambitious people out there who like to make stuff. There is always a way, NEVER STOP THINKING! Reference-Links of the Tool used in the Video https://www.mymicrobalance.com/en https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mymicrobalance.app

Easy CNC Equipment Moving with DIY Machine Skates
Home shop machinists often run into the problem of trying to move heavy equipment around in their garage. Professionals do this with forklifts and machinery skates. In this video, I demonstrate some shop-made machine skates being used to maneuver a 5500lb lathe around. The skates are easily made and can transform a heavy machine from being an immovable object to something that one person can push around! I've learned the hard way - pushing things around on round bars, prying with 6' levers, soaping the concrete, and renting forklifts. When it comes to arranging equipment _inside_ a shop, this is now my favorite way to do it. It should go without saying, but moving big equipment can kill you if you don't use your head and think things through. Be safe and enjoy! A lot of people have asked which bearings to use and where to get parts. I tried to find the best deal on amazon for the parts I used. What You Need for Your Fabrication or Welding Shop - Kevin Caron
From http://www.kevincaron.com - Artist Kevin Caron shares what you need to get started with your own welding or fabrication shop .... Caron runs through the must-have items for your own shop or art studio: 1) A METAL WORK TABLE. A metal table is best, but some people use a wooden table with a metal surface on it. Caron prefers a metal table that is easier to make level and even, and that won't warp. Still, one colleague uses a stump with a 1/2" piece of steel plate on it. The stump is hollowed a bit so he can take off the metal and use the stump for shaping. That's the sort of ingenuity you can use while creating your shop. 2) A WELDER. Caron shows two options, a MIG welder and an arc welder. For the MIG welder, he shows Longevity's MigWeld 140, which runs on 110, uses solid core with inert gas for cleaner welds, or it also runs flux core, which uses no gas and can be used outdoors. The MIG is great for thinner metal and is easier to learn. This model starts about $325. The Lincoln arc welder, or "buzz box" or "tombstone welder," is another option. You can pick one up at a big box store for $500 - 600. It's better for welding thicker metal and welding outside in the wind. It does require 220 amp service, though. 3) A HELMET. You need a welding helmet with a dark shade, a 9, 10 or 11, depending upon your eyes, where you are welding and what you're welding with. There are auto-darkening and fixed shade helmets, too. 4) GLOVES. Caron recommends having two types: some MIG or stick (arc) welding gloves, which are thick, well-insulated and have gauntlets; and a pair of lighter gloves for when you're cutting, grinding, etc. The work gloves protect your hands, but you have some tactile feel, unlike the welding gloves, which are like wearing oven mitts. 5) A MEASURING DEVICE. A tape measure, yard stick, the span of your hand if you know its width, a piece of string - something you can measure with. 6) SOME SORT OF MARKER. Caron shows a soapstone marker, which you can get at a welding supply store, at Harbor Freight or at Home Depot in their welding department. You can also use a magic marker, a Sharpie, a pencil or a pen (although pens don't last long), even a scribe that lets you make a good sharp line. 7) A LEVEL. You need something to make things square and straight. The one he shows has magnets that let you attach it to the metal, but there are all sorts of sizes, shapes and types. 8) CLAMPS. Caron shows vice grips for smaller work and Bessey clamps, with their deeper throats. He says he's even used woodworking clamps at times. There are many, many different types and styles of clamps. 9) A HAMMER. You'll need a decent sized hammer, a 16-ounce or so. You need a ball peen hammer, not a carpenter's hammer, not a claw hammer. Get one with a flat pounding surface. Once you're done welding, there's always a little clean up to do, so you'll need .... 10) A 4-1/2" ANGLE GRINDER. You can use soft pads, which come in various grits and styles and last a long time. You can also use the grinder for .... 11) A CUT-OFF TOOL. Just take your grinding pad off of your angle grinder and put on a cut-off wheel so you have a tool you can cut with. You can also use a hacksaw for cutting. 12) SOME PLACE TO SHAPE THINGS. You may not want to run out and buy an anvil right away, but, as Caron points out, you probably have something around you can use, such as a stump, a bumper, even a trailer ball hitch. These items will get you started. Then, as you continue to work, you'll better understand what your space will hold, what you want to be doing, what your budget will allow. Caron says, "Have fun, and let me know how it's going." See more how-to videos and see and hear Kevin's work at http://www.kevincaron.com

But, I know that not everybody has the thousands of dollars it takes to buy a quality bench from a woodworking store. I also know most woodworkers want to build their own anyway. Many friends of mine are woodworkers and most of them are saving up the $2000.00+ that it takes to buy the 8/4 maple to build their own. Whether Roubo style or another. So I thought that I would present an alternative. This isn’t a new idea. Many YouTube woodworkers have done this before me. But, I thought that I would like to add my take on it. I went to my local home improvement “Big Box” store. I selected construction grade lumber. At my store they had a choice of a product they called whitewood, or Douglas Fir. The latter was kiln dried, and a much higher density and harder lumber so I chose that. Where you live will dictate what you buy. Many parts of the country will have southern yellow pine, which is a great choice for this. I took quite some time to sort through the bunk of lumber to ensure that I got straight pieces and pieces with as few knots as possible. I chose all 2x6’s, and I ended up with a workbench that was nearly 500 pounds. Very strong, very solid! Please follow along in the video to see what was built!

$150 bike camper: DIY micro mobile home (downloadable plans)
Paul Elkins fell for micro-camping in 2002 when he toured the country in his cabover “stealth camper”. Sure he could make something more affordable, this year he began building a nomadic micro-shelter based on the Airstream design. [Downloadable plans: http://www.elkinsdiy.com/plans/ ] Using 4 recycled fluted-plastic campaign signs from a recent election, a $20 secondhand bike, 6 pine boards ($1 at Home Depot), screws, Duct tape and zip ties, he built his latest micro mobile shelter for only $150. Calling it a “micro Airstream bike camper”, it’s a 60-pound “home away from home”, complete with butane stove, bread-pan sink, counter, food storage shelving, clothes-storage bins, LED lighting, bed, windows, pee jug, bubble insulation, stereo with MP3 player, and a skylight made out of a 1 gallon plastic tub. How To Build a Level Shed, tiny houses, barn foundation, platform by Jon Peters
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Art-Home-by-Jon-Peters/312021729836 Website: http://jonpeters.com/ I'm building a new storage shed for my lawn mower and gardening tools. I've noticed that most sheds tend to rot from the bottom up and are often home to ground hogs and skunks. Because of these issues I'm taking a little more time and effort to prevent that from happening to this shed by building a solid base and level foundation. Hope you find this video helpful

How to Make Simple Plywood Dolly // Woodworking
I wanted to prototype a simple way to move plywood sheets easily! Everyone knows that moving around a full sheet of 3/4" plywood is awkward and cumbersome, but what if I could quickly make something to help with that problem? In the past, I've moved big pieces of furniture and equipment by using an old skateboard as a makeshift dolly. This method isn't really stable or easy to steer so I thought I'd make a device that is meant to help one person move big sheets of plywood. I thought the new plywood dolly would use the same basic idea; a small, wheeled plate that could firmly hold a sheet of plywood vertically while I pushed it around. I began my design process with a problem statement, "plywood is heavy and doesn't turn very well when using the skateboard as a dolly." Nailing down this core irritation will help direct the decision-making process once we started drawing out ideas. Each iteration has to address the problem statement or it shouldn't be considered as an option. The design had to be easy to use for 1 person, maneuverable, and simple to make; these are our design criteria. Because the concept behind this project was to quickly prototype a functional solution to the plywood problem, I didn't want to spend a lot of time 3d modeling an articulated part and over-analyzing the mechanics. I rummaged through my wood scraps and found a piece of oak that was just big enough for some casters that I had laying around and I used some left-over oak strips to act as the side walls. I drew out a really basic cam shape, a tadpole-type shape but with a hole for an axel offset from the center point of rotation. This allows the rounded head of the clamp to engage more and more as the lever is turned. The shape was cut out on the scrollsaw and then transferred that outline to another piece of oak that was then cut in the same way. I drilled the offset holes in the cams using the drill press and used my wood taps to create some threads in the side walls that would accept a 1/4-20 bolt to secure the cams to the base. We added 3 swiveling casters to the bottom for added maneuverability and it was all done. Although not one of the initial design criteria, we wanted the dolly to be able to hold two sheets of plywood. The side walls were spaced far enough apart to hold two sheets and the cam clamps were designed to be able to hold either a single our double sheets. When we tested the prototype, we placed the dolly under the front edge of a 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" plywood and I easily clamped it in place using my foot. I was able to move the whole around my shop wayyyy easier than I could by myself, it was great! While the dolly worked really well, I did note some things that could be improved upon. First, the dolly doesn't need two cams, one came can push the plywood up against the flat side wall all by itself. Second, I would add another caster which would held it not tip as much when you're putting it on. Lastly, I would make another one. Lifting the back edge of a full sheet is still pretty heavy, and adding another dolly to the back may really help. I hope you found some value in this simple problem-solving project. You may not need to move large sheet goods around your space, or maybe you're way stronger than me and this isn't an issue, but I hope you got something from this systematic approach to looking at a problem and addressing it in a way that saves time and effort in the long run. If you liked this simple shop accessory, check out more of my videos where I improve my workspace one little piece at a time. MUSIC: http://share.epidemicsound.com/iltms

Why you should make useless things | Simone Giertz
In this joyful, heartfelt talk featuring demos of her wonderfully wacky creations, Simone Giertz shares her craft: making useless robots. Her inventions -- designed to chop vegetables, cut hair, apply lipstick and more -- rarely (if ever) succeed, and that's the point. "The true beauty of making useless things [is] this acknowledgment that you don't always know what the best answer is," Giertz says. "It turns off that voice in your head that tells you that you know exactly how the world works. Maybe a toothbrush helmet isn't the answer, but at least you're asking the question." Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet's last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order. Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, and facing impossible odds, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to ignite a global resistance, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all. Key Features: • XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM's mobile headquarters. New open-ended gameplay lets you decide where to guide your strike team, how to grow popular support, and when to combat enemy counter-operations. • RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan. • TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point. • A NEW BREED OF ENEMY: A diverse cast of enemies from powerful new alien species to the ADVENT, enforcers of the alien regime, offer a distinct tactical challenge. • RESEARCH, DEVELOP AND UPGRADE: Configure and build rooms on the Avenger to give XCOM new capabilities on the battlefield. Use your Scientists and Engineers to research, develop and upgrade weapons and armor to fit your preferred tactics. • EACH MISSION IS A UNIQUE CHALLENGE: Go on missions around the world, from wildlands to the heart of the alien-controlled megacities, to the depths of alien installations. There are virtually infinite combinations of maps, missions and goals. • CREATE CUSTOM MODS: Community-focused tools allow you to create your own campaign, tactical gameplay, aliens, classes, strategy game features, and share within the Steam Workshop. • ENGAGE IN HEAD-TO-HEAD MULTIPLAYER: Mix-and-match squads of humans and aliens and battle head-to-head on randomly-generated maps.

How to Make a Desk with Hidden Wireless Charging
I partnered with Minwax and Lincoln Electric to build a desk with hidden wireless charging. I used woodworking and metalworking on this project with a walnut top and a tube steel welded base. This modern industrial computer desk has a nice simple desk feel but with tons of character including a copper metal bowtie inlay. #wirelesscharging BLOG: http://fixthisbuildthat.com/how-to-make-a-desk-hidden-wireless-charging ➤Thank you to Minwax: https://amzn.to/2vrATfk and Lincoln Electric: http://amzn.to/2pqJjS6 for sponsoring this video! ➤Tools/Supplies Used (affiliate): Minwax Polyurethane - https://amzn.to/2vrATfk Lincoln 210MP Welder - http://amzn.to/2pqJjS6 ISOtunes Bluetooth Earbuds - https://amzn.to/2Ioq0UI Wireless Charging Pad - https://amzn.to/2K1ZdJU Miter Saw Stand - https://fixthisbuildthat.com/mitersawstand Flip Top Tool Stand - https://fixthisbuildthat.com/fliptop 2:1 Clear Epoxy - https://amzn.to/2uVjUCv RIDGID 18V Router - https://amzn.to/2KDooHW RIDGID 18V Grinder - http://bit.ly/RIDGIDGEN5Xgrinder Circular Saw Track - http://amzn.to/2wHywsi Copper Bowtie - http://instagram.com/blackbirdmachinist/ ➤SUBSCRIBE to my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/c/fixthisbuildthat?sub_confirmation=1 ➤Join the Builder Club on Patreon and get Free Build Plans! https://www.patreon.com/fixthisbuildthat ➤FOLLOW ME on Social Media: Instagram - http://www.instagram.com/fixthisbuildthat Facebook - http://www.fb.com/ibuildthat Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/fixthisbuildtht Pinterest - http://www.pinterest.com/fixthisbuildtht

HHO Generator - Water to Fuel Converter
For this project let's build a sexy looking generator that uses electricity to convert water into an extremely powerful fuel! Here's how to build an Oxy-Hydrogen generator from scratch. You can get them here: http://bit.ly/HHOParts Everything you need to know should be in the video, but the plans have templates for the stainless steel plates, a parts list with SKU numbers, pictures, instructions, and expanded view diagrams of the systems, including an alternate "all ABS" option. This is not a "free energy" device, "over unity" device, or a claim to be the solution to the worlds energy crisis. This is a project I did to experiment with the electrolysis of water, and the resulting gasses collected. Music By: Kevin Macleod (Breakdown) http://incompetech.com/ Project Inspired By: "Smack's Booster": http://www.free-energy-info.co.uk/Smack.pdf Project History & More Info: The generator requires electricity to electrolyze H2O (water) into gas. The resulting mixed gas is sometimes referred to as Oxy-Hydrogen gas, which is 2 parts Hydrogen (H2) and 1 part Oxygen (O2). I typically hook this up to my car battery while the vehicle is running, so the alternator takes most of the load. On 12 volts I get about 1.5 liters/minute, but when I want to make the gas faster, I hook 2 car batteries in series for 24 volts, and this exponentially increases the gas production to over 5 liters per minute. Current draw seems to be around 20-50 amps depending on whether you use 12-24 volts. High current draws mean the electrolyte heats up, and if left too long the plastic can warp or melt causing structural failure. Some people ask why the plates aren't all electrically connected. The plates that aren't connected are called "floater" plates, or "neutral" plates. There is too much information to post about them here, so do a google search, or check out websites like http://www.hho4free.com/neutral_plates.htm for an in depth explanation of the theory. I used KOH as my electrolyte because research suggested it was the best. I haven't experimented with other electrolytes, but have heard that salt, sodium hydroxide, vinegar, etc could work, but will dirty and may corrode the plates. Potassium Hydroxide keeps the system clean, however, it is caustic, so be careful if you choose to use it. You can probably get away with about 2-4 teaspoons of KOH per 6 liters of water. This system produces an extremely powerful OxyHydrogen gas. When the gas is used, it simply turns back into water, and that's good for the environment. However I believe it takes more electric energy to produce the gas than is obtained from the gas. This device merely converts the energy from one form to another, with given losses. As long as you have enough electricity, the amount of water already in this system is enough to produce thousands and thousands of liters of fuel. Some people say this is the fuel of the future. Either way, it's a very powerful gas! If you need more information, or want to purchase build plans for this design, you can get them here: http://bit.ly/HHOParts

A simple guide to electronic components.
By request:- A basic guide to identifying components and their functions for those who are new to electronics. This is a work in progress, and I welcome feedback from you guys on whether I should break it down into more manageable chunks. I've kept the maths to a minimum, since it can be off-putting to someone just getting started in electronics. The idea of this video is to slot in some more of the jigsaw pieces involved in learning electronics, when you start to recognise components, but aren't quite sure what they are or what they do. It's tricky to squeeze even the basics into a single video, and I've just realised how long this one is (and why it took all night to upload). If you enjoy my videos you can support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and components at https://www.patreon.com/bigclive

Inventory management for small business. A simple how to tutorial
Inventory management for small business is often an after thought. Find out why this critical step can save you some serious money and how you can implement the latest technologies for almost without a massive budget. This step by step guide shows you how we manage 1000's of SKU's everyday without any errors. For more information visit http://www.davidhay.org/qr-codes-quick-easy-inventory-tracking/ Let’s get this out of the way: the subject I’m going to cover today is a polarizing one. Like with all topics, some people will be on the bandwagon, on the fence, or dragging their feet kicking and screaming; this particular subject attracts discussions of the kicking and screaming variety. I’m talking about QR codes. There are many who think that the QR code is dead, and they wouldn’t be wrong. We could write an entire blog post about why QR codes suck, but they’re still the fastest way to transmit large amounts of information. That’s what makes it such a great platform on which to base your asset management and inventory tracking. ======================== Subscribe to my channel https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=DavidHaydotOrg ======================== I offer professional consulting services starting at $80 per hour.
