Muscular System - Thompson Outline: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fynlKXMAV8NVv0XXSOr7i42wda1uC1hj_RdPrnaY_ME/edit?usp=sharing This video was put on as a test for one of my classes that I don't teach anymore. I have no plans of redoing it or doing any more chapters for those who keep asking. There are 2 or 3 mistakes. Rectus abdominus originates on the pubis and inserts at the costal angle. Orbicularis oris is around the mouth and orbicularis oculi is around the eye. Brachioradialis originates on the distal humerus and inserts on the ulnar tuberosity (really fascia between ulna and radius). I've heard both protagonist and agonist for the opposite of the antagonist. I assume they are both correct.

View full lesson: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/how-the-heart-actually-pumps-blood-edmond-hui For most of history, scientists weren't quite sure why our hearts were beating or even what purpose they served. Eventually, we realized that these thumping organs serve the vital task of pumping clean blood throughout the body. But how? Edmond Hui investigates how it all works by taking a closer look at the heart's highly efficient ventricle system. Lesson by Edmond Hui, animation by Anton Bogaty.

See More Videos @ http://www.cteskills.com The muscular system is made up of over 600 muscles. While we won’t be covering all 600 plus individual muscles in this overview video, we will be discussing the … - Main functions of the muscular system - 5 major properties of the muscular system - 5 types of muscle movements withing the muscular system - 3 types of muscles within the muscular system - and how all of this works together to make up the muscular system. Now there is much more to discuss about the muscular system but that’s as far as we will go in this introductory video. After watching this video you should at least have a basic understanding of what makes up the muscular system, its properties and functions. For a more in depth study of the muscular system, look for future CTE videos where we will cover topics such as the 14 major muscle groups, as well as topics such as common diseases and conditions specific to the muscular system. The primary purpose for the Muscular system is to provide movement for the body. The muscles receive their ability to move the body through the nervous system. Today Hank explains the skeletal system and why astronauts Scott Kelly and Mikhail Kornienko are out in space studying it. He talks about the anatomy of the skeletal system, including the flat, short, and irregular bones, and their individual arrangements of compact and spongy bone. He'll also cover the microanatomy of bones, particularly the osteons and their inner lamella. And finally he will introduce the process of bone remodeling, which is carried out by crews of osteocytes, osteoblasts, and osteoclasts. How to Fix Your Posture in 4 Moves! (PERMANENTLY)

09:19
Fix your posture in 90 days - http://athleanx.com/x/my-workouts Subscribe to this channel here - http://bit.ly/2b0coMW If you have poor posture, you not only are aware of it but likely would welcome an easy way to fix it. In this video, I’m showing you a 4 step plan that can attack the most common posture flaws to give you a nice, tall, upright posture sooner than you think. I’m going to show you how to hit correct rounded shoulders, a hunched back, crooked neck, forward head and tilted pelvis. When you apply the easy drills shown here you will start to feel better almost instantly and work towards permanently fixing your bad posture. The four biggest problem areas for those with bad posture is the neck, shoulders, mid back and pelvis. Specifically, if you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk or behind the wheel you will wind up getting slumping shoulders and a rounded back. To counteract the head being pulled downward, you wind up tilting your head up so you can look straight ahead. This has the effect of overarching your neck and weakening the deep neck flexors. Finally, when the upper spine curves forward, the pelvis winds up curling under. This posterior pelvic tilt is something that adaptively tightens the hamstrings and weakens the lower back. If you want to fix your posture you have to hit each of these areas with individualized attention. We have actually addressed each of these in depth with the following videos: How to Fix Rounded Shoulders - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLwTC-lAJws How to Fix Anterior Pelvic Tilt - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-CrEi0ymMg How to Fix Posterior Pelvic Tilt - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1sfPfsESDQ How to Fix a Rounded Upper Back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-GDuhjOAU8 That said, there is something that you can do for each of these areas that will help you to correct the postural problems without having to spend a long time each day. These are efficient and effective but do need your consistency in order to make a lasting impact on the correction. The funny thing about posture is that we often spend a lifetime doing the things that ruin our posture in the first place, yet expect that we will be able to fix it in an hour. While not an hour, these posture correction exercises will have an immediate impact on the way you feel. You should feel as if you have more mobility in the tightened areas and that your body begins to move more free and easy. From here, with a bit of consistency you will be able to make permanent changes in your posture that will have you feeling stronger and looking much better than you do now. An important note on posture and working out, that I referenced earlier, is that it is not a good idea to lift weights when your body is severely out of alignment. All you are doing is strengthening poor posture and dysfunction. Lifting weights in the presence of dysfunction is quickly going to lead to not only other compensations elsewhere in the kinetic chain but likely wind up in injury. It is much smarter to fix the issues with your posture first and then strengthen your body to reinforce the new perfect posture. For a complete program that helps you to correct your posture at the same time that you are actually building new muscle and getting ripped, head to http://athleanx.com and get the ATHLEAN-X Training System. Use the same exact workout routine used by Jesse to not only add muscle to his frame but dramatically improve how he looks when standing. In the last video, we learned how to simplify the human body into simple 3D shapes and draw a manikin figure. So if you missed the previous lessons, you can click below to watch them now... Lesson 1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvrocH4noms Lesson 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVBAPGBlnls Lesson 3 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phWtQ2odZh0 Lesson 4 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lp6gc4gjjY Lesson 5 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFyiM-Z3NZc In today's lesson, we're going to cover how to add anatomical detail to our manikin to make it look realistic. Knowing proper anatomy when drawing the figure is extremely important and if you ask any expert, they'll tell you that it is one of the most critical things you have to learn. But unfortunately, anatomy is often neglected by many artists. Now I don't want to overwhelm you with all the anatomical details of the entire figure, so in this video, we are just going to focus on drawing the arm. This will keep everything more manageable and give you an introduction to anatomy drawing. So in the next clip, my co-instructor Michael will walk you through how to layer muscles onto a simple manikin arm and make it look real. Let's go over to the table and get started... [PLEASE REFER TO THE ABOVE VIDEO FOR STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS] Alright, so that's how you draw the muscles of the arm. Now be sure to take out a piece of paper and follow along with this exercise to draw your own arm. Because in tomorrow's lesson, we're going to cover how to add shading to that drawing to make it look three dimensional. I know shading can be a big difficulty for a lot of people and tomorrow we are going to cover some very cool shading techniques, so be sure to tune in for that one.

William Davis - Germs, Muscle, and Pac-Man: Exciting New Concepts in...

01:12:29
Management of the human microbiome is proving to be a powerful tool for health. But it is a critical factor for health that most healthcare providers and doctors do not get involved in. This makes new and exciting strategies to manage the individual microbiome a personal effort, one that people can manage without their doctors with potentially powerful results. Applied properly, management of the individual’s microbiome can increase skin thickness, accelerate healing, increase bone density, increase testosterone in males, and increase the hormone oxytocin, a phenomenon with a host of important health benefits that I shall discuss. I shall further discuss how and why increased muscle is crucial for youth preservation and health and how some new concepts in cognitive exercise can decrease potential for cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s dementia, while even yielding improvements in abilities such as safe driving and reaction time. William Davis, MD is cardiologist and author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight and Find Your Path Back to Health, Wheat Belly Total Health: The Ultimate Grain-Free Health and Weight-Loss Life Plan, and two cookbooks, the Wheat Belly Cookbook and the Wheat Belly 30-Minutes (Or Less!) Cookbook, also NY Times bestsellers and, most recently, the Wheat Belly 10-Day Grain Detox. His books have sold over 4 million books in the North American market and are published in over 40 countries. Major national media appearances include the Dr. Oz Show, CBS This Morning, National Public Radio, and Live with Kelly (Ripa), featured on Bill O’Reilly and the Colbert Report, and in print media including the covers of First for Women and Woman’s World magazines, the New York Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Atlantic, and Women’s Health. Dr. Davis has built a substantial online presence on his Wheat Belly Blog (www. wheatbellyblog.com) with more than 28 million views since launch in September, 2011. There are also substantial followings on social media, including 300,000 followers on Facebook. More than a book, more than social media, the Wheat Belly phenomenon has proven to be a movement, growing over time and creating an audience eager for food solu-tions that are healthy, delicious, convenient and consistent with the Wheat Belly message. Most recently, Dr. Davis’ new book, Undoctored: Why Health Care Has Failed You and How You Can Become Smarter Than Your Doctor has been released. This new book takes the lessons learned through the worldwide Wheat Belly experience and adds new concepts including how to harness the emerging power of crowd-sourced wisdom and new technological health tools. We are living in the dawn of an age when the health consumer can accomplish an astounding amount in regaining health on their own—without the doctor or healthcare system. Dr. Davis is a graduate of the St. Louis University School of Medicine, with training in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease at the Ohio State University Hospitals, advanced training in angioplasty at the Case Western Reserve University Hospitals where he also served as Di-rector of the Cardiovascular Fellowship and Assistant Professor of Medicine. He now focuses on preventive care and providing self-empowering strategies to the public through his books and projects.

How to Fix Anterior Pelvic Tilt (SIT HAPPENS!)

07:16
Build without the imbalances - http://athleanx.com/x/fix-imbalances Subscribe to this channel here - http://bit.ly/2b0coMW Anterior pelvic tilt is by far one of the most common dysfunctions one can have. In this video, I’m going to show you how to reverse the effects of chronic sitting by addressing what muscles are causing anterior pelvic tilt and how to strengthen the areas that are weak. With a step by step attack plan, you are going to be able to fix this muscle and joint imbalance once and for all. To start, it is important to define what anterior pelvic tilt really is. It is the resultant posture of tightness and weakness in certain muscle groups of the core and pelvis that causes your pelvis to tilt anteriorly and downward. This can be seen pretty easily from the side in somebody that has it. You will notice an exaggerated curvature in the lower back and possibly even a protruding stomach. The belly is not protruding because of it being overweight (although it might be) but rather because the muscles of the abs are not strong enough to counteract the downward pull of the pelvis. Realizing that our bodies work in a cross pattern muscularly, you will quickly see that the two areas of tightness are the lower back on the posterior side and the hip flexors or iliopsoas on the anterior or front side. The muscles of the hip flexors can become easily shortened because of the fact that they are in this state for prolonged periods of time from sitting. Whether you sit at work all day or just spend a long time in front of the computer or even driving, your hip flexors will have a tendency to adaptively shorten. This causes a resultant weakness in the muscles on the opposite side of the joint, the glutes and hamstrings. When this happens you actually get a worsening of the problem since you don’t have the muscular strength to counteract the anterior and downward pull of the pelvis by the hip flexors. As a compensation to the glutes being weak, the lower back attempts to kick in and help out. It provides extra extension not provided by the glutes and in doing so, compromises its strength and integrity. When combined with the pull of the iliopsoas on the lumber vertebrae, you get an overly active and tight low back. This not only can cause pain but further exacerbates the problem. Along with this static positioning of the pelvis you get a disuse stretch weakness on the abdominals. In order to counteract this cascade of problems you need to stretch the hip flexors, strengthen the abs with exercises that don’t over activate the hip flexors, and strengthen the glutes and hamstrings. One thing you do not want to do is stretch your hamstrings. While it is normal to instinctively try and stretch whatever muscles are tight, this would be a mistake here. The hamstring tightness is not causing the anterior pelvic tilt, it is a result of the anterior pelvic tilt. Stretching them will only make the problem worse. A bad workout program will make this problem worse as well. If you want to avoid the breakdown that comes from following bad exercises or bad workouts then it’s time you follow a program created by a physical therapist trusted by today’s top professional athletes. You can get this in the ATHLEAN-X Training System available at http://athleanx.com For more videos on how to fix muscular imbalances like the anterior pelvic tilt, be sure to subscribe to our channel here on youtube at http://youtube.com/user/jdcav24

Ultimate Full-Body Dumbbell Workout | Andy Speer

Got a pair of dumbbells? Then you can do this circuit! Build muscle, gain strength, and get ripped with Andy Speer's ultimate dumbbell circuit workout. Just don't let go until the end! ► Shop Bodybuilding Signature Supplements: https://bbcom.me/2pGXyCd ► Premium Fitness Plans: https://bbcom.me/2pJeKH6 ► Get the Full Workout: https://bbcom.me/2pGwByw You don't need a gym filled with equipment to build serious muscle, strength, and conditioning. All you need is two dumbbells and a plan! I put together four complexes, each using nothing more than a pair of dumbbells and your body. Each complex will challenge you in a unique way. Complexes are great because they force you to complete a high-volume workout in a short amount of time. The key is to hang on to the weight until you've completed all the movements. No rest until you've finished a round! Once you've completed the warm-up, grab a set of dumbbells, and get your mind and some weights ready. The first time you do the routine, just work through each complex as best as you can, and don't worry if it feels a bit awkward or the weights you have aren't ideal. If you have more than one pair of dumbbells available, you'll probably want increase or decrease the weight depending on the complex. In general, use as much weight as you can, but don't go so heavy you can't move well. Rest 2-3 minutes between complexes, and be ready to work. | The Ultimate Full-Body Workout | Warm-Up: Perform 1 Round 1. Dumbbell Halo: 10 reps in both directions 2. Interview with ISIS: RT talks to detained fighters in Iraq (EXCLUSIVE)

06:00

Try this workout for back that will give you lats that block out the sun. Athlete and men's physique IFBB Pro Jake Alvarez shows you how to build them with his killer back workout. ► Shop Bodybuilding Signature Supplements: http://bbcom.me/2pgSwvS ► Premium Fitness Plans: http://bbcom.me/2pfsw4l The thought of strong, chiseled bodies immediately conjures certain features: a barreled chest, for one, but also a back that can deflect artillery fire from a tank—because, you know, that's how you test its fortitude. What's more, a broad back makes the rest of your body look that much better. With your lats flared out like a cobra snake, for example, your waist will appear to shrink in comparison, even if it's the same circumference it's always been. The question, of course, is how to build such a prodigious back. Folks, welcome to Jake Alvarez's back-attack workout. Class is in session. In the video, Jake demonstrates five back exercises. Before beginning each set of a new exercise, Jake typically does a single warm-up set of higher reps to prime his body for the upcoming movement. It would be wise for you to do the same! Be sure to watch the full video for tips and cues for each exercise. That way, you'll reap the full benefits of his epic back workout. | Bodybuilding.com Signature Supplements & Clothing | ► Signature 100% Whey Protein: http://bbcom.me/2pfsv0h ► Signature Amino Plus Energy: http://bbcom.me/2pedmMw ► Signature BCAA: http://bbcom.me/2GwcNFr ► Signature Creatine Monohydrate: http://bbcom.me/2Gu04mo ► Signature Fish Oil: http://bbcom.me/2pdqgug ► Signature Green Tea: http://bbcom.me/2peXWYj ► Signature Joint Support: http://bbcom.me/2pblOMI ► Signature L-Carnitine: http://bbcom.me/2Gu02Li ► Signature Micronized Glutamine: http://bbcom.me/2petptE ► Signature Multivitamin: http://bbcom.me/2pdUcq1 ► Signature Pre Workout: http://bbcom.me/2pf106Z ► Signature Test Booster: http://bbcom.me/2GxM5wc ► Signature Vitamin D3: http://bbcom.me/2petoWC ► Signature ZMA: http://bbcom.me/2phkec3 ► Bodybuilding.com Clothing: http://bbcom.me/2pgSxQs ============================================= | Bodybuilding.com | ► Supplement Store: http://bbcom.me/2Gv5L3C ► Sales & Specials: http://bbcom.me/2GzD9GA ► Fitness Articles: http://bbcom.me/2GwcPgx ► Premium Fitness Plans: http://bbcom.me/2pfsw4l ============================================= | Follow Us | ► Twitch: http://bit.ly/2q1dttE ► YouTube: http://bit.ly/1RSJFa4 ► Facebook: http://on.fb.me/1lomhpr ► Instagram: http://bit.ly/1LzBxab ► Twitter: http://bit.ly/1RSJQlL ► Google+: http://bit.ly/1NRe8qu ► Pinterest: http://bit.ly/1OOZgY4 ► Spotify: http://spoti.fi/1NRebm0 We are Bodybuilding.com. 10 Strongest Kids In The World | Bruce Lee Kid | Interesting Facts ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/gYLyzW For copyright matters please contact us at: miniminter1992.29@gmail.com It’s easy to assume that being taller and bigger than a kid makes us stronger than them. Some kids, however, are pure muscle packed into tiny beings. From China to New Jersey, children all over the world are finding their passion and wowing the world with their physical strength. Whether it’s to stay away from video games or simply to stand out in a crowd, these remarkable kids have found the inspiration, focus and ability to smash through world records and push themselves to the limits of what their bodies can do. Here is out list of Strongest Kids In The World. Yang Jinlong This young boy from Chuzhou in China’s Anhui province was pulling cars with ropes and carrying cement sacks of 100kg by age 7. He quickly became a celebrity in China and around the world with the performance of strength such as pulling a van with a rope tied around this waist, lifting his father on his shoulders, or carrying heavy sacks of rice or cement powder. Ryusei Imai 6-year-old Ryusei Imai went viral on the Internet last year with his spot-on mimicking of Bruce Lee’s “Game of Death” nunchaku scene. The tiny fan of Bruce Lee went on to perform on television shows to showcase his unique capabilities at his young age. Eli Etherton You usually don’t expect kids to perform at bodybuilder events but that’s what Eli Etherton did. Having incredible muscle strength this 9-year-old boy competes in the big boys league. Although not known for many World Guinness records Eli shows incredible strength for a 9-year old. Claudio Stroe Like his brother Giuliano, Claudio has been awarded praise for lifting over 4 times his body weight something even most bodybuilders have a hard time doing. Claudio has been working out and practicing fitness training since the age of 2. Giuliano Stroe This Romanian brother of Claudio Stroe is power hero. Training since the age of 2 this boy has earned multiple championships and broken records. Giuliano is a Guinness world record holder in multiple categories such as most push-ups without feet touching the floor, longest timed human flag and fastest 10-minute hand walk with weights on his feet. Richard Sandrak Although not a kid anymore, Richard’s remarkable childhood accomplishments earned him spot on our list of top 10 strongest kids in the world. Born in Ukraine in 1982, Richard quickly took up stretches and martial arts upon moving with his family to the United States. Andrey Kostash This Ukranian boy has been training since the age of 5. He broke a world record by doing 4000 push-ups in 2 hours. He was reportedly unhappy with this number, as he did not achieve his personal best of… 6000! Liam Hoekstra Diagnosed with a rare medical condition called Muscle Hypertrophy as an infant, Liam had a 40% muscle body mass at age 3. C.J. Cummings At only age 14 C.J. was lifting over 100kg. Now 15, he has broken the world record in clean and jerk lift with 175kg, however because the competition was not global, he did not earn an official title. Jake Schellenschlagger Training since the age of 11, this teenage bodybuilder has earned the world champion title for squat lifting and can now deadlift over 181kg. His father, a bodybuilder himself, reportedly refused to have his son play video games all day and encouraged young Jake to take up fitness instead. Four short years later, Jake is a sponsored fitness celebrity with numerous championship titles in his name. CJ Senter This 12-year-old fitness guru has incredible strength and talent. Known as The Workout Kid for his enthusiasm and passion for fitness and healthy living, CJ already has a significant media presence for his involvement in getting kids and teens fit and healthy. Kyle Kane Kyle started kickboxing at the age of 4 and by the time he was 9 was a black belt. When talking about his love of weight lifting, he said “’I just want to be as muscly as I can be. Dylan and Jessica Best Dylan and Jessica, along with their father Nick and mother Callie, appeared on the TLC show The Strongest Family In The World. Probably a pretty good precursor to landing a spot on this list. In the documentary, it is claimed that the family trains up to 240 hours per week. Varya Akulova When Varya Akulova was born, it was clear that her parents had big plans for her. Her father Yuri and mom Larysa were both professional weightlifters that met each other when working in a traveling circus. Yuri started training Varya when she was 4 days old, saying in an interview “I was determined right from the start that our tiny Varya would become the strongest girl in the entire world…. Were Greeks That MASSIVE? - 3 Lessons From Ancient Training

Were Greeks That MASSIVE? - 3 Lessons From Ancient Training Or were they using photoshop? Download the Free E-Book 'A Guide For Thriving On A Vegan Diet': http://www.qualitygains.com/ Subscribe for more Gains: http://bit.ly/subscribeytQG Our beauty standards can be traced far back to Greece. At least men's beauty standards. Aphrodite looked like big foot in a gollum posture. But considering men, the body of the statues were rocking a sixpack and had perfect symmetry. Such as the world famous art of the discus thrower. Look at that calm, stoic face – no signs of struggle, while the arm veins are popping. Look at these androgenic shoulder muscles and ab symmetry. Very similar to what you see on men's health covers nowadays. But where did artists get those body looks from ? Where people actually able to achieve such god-like body back then ? Or where greeks using photoshop? Here's three lessons from the history of weight training. Men's beauty standards stayed mostly the same, because muscles have always been beneficial, in the face of evolution. Men have more muscles and less body fat than women, and therefore compete on a physical level. While the hardest form of competing is physical fighting, a less damaging form is basically showing off. You see this in the animal kingdom and you basically see this in modern day primates. Before a fight you make yourself big, you want to show dominance over your opponent without getting hurt. If your male opponent is seeing you as a threat, aka you being able to inflict damage on his organism, he is less likely to go on a fight with you. The psychological aspect is huge, in fighting. Lesson 1: Muscles were beneficial in the face of evolution. Yes, in my experience it was a huge plus for girls (although they don't really like to tell you that) and men respect you more. Due to sexual and natural selection, men were always interested in acquiring muscles. The first documented case of progressive weight training was in Ancient Greece, where Milo of Croton lifted a calf every single day. until it was a bull. Another Greek, the physician Galen, described strenght training exercises using the halters. Were originally, people simply trained with stones, they then used halters, which where similar to dumbbells. And here's the biggest downside of ancient weight training, the halters, ancient dumbbells, where only weighing between 2 and 9 kilograms. This makes long-term progression impossible, as you usually max out the 9 kilograms in the first year of progressive weight training. If you don't have progression over the first year it will impossible for you to build a greek god body. As your body mainly builds muscles on a certain rep range, which is between 6-12. Lesson 2: Repetitions can be changed now and then, but focus on increasing the weight and keeping the reps steady. Now you may say : But QG, ancient men were much tougher than we are to this day. Greek children started work when they were 3 years old. The people that were rowing in the ships were expected to do that for 12 hours at a time – while eating a less than optimal diet. And you're right, times back then were tough. But these cases are similar to an ultraendurance runner nowadays, look at them they're not walking titans. They're sticks, as their body is optimized for cardiovascular feats, not for maximum strength. Or look at children in Africa or Aborigines, they live a super tough live and they're malnourished. Are they freaking muscular ? No ! Because their body is adapted for survival as the greeks were, not for hypertrophy as you have to be when you want to have a greek god body. It's true that being tough and having muscles often go together, as training needs discipline, willpower and grit. Lesson 3: Toughness and muscularity are two separate things. I'm sure weight training made you feel great and gave you some sort of muscles, but for real muscle growth you need progression of the weights at a certain range of repetition, which happens to be roughly between 6-12. For this progression you needed a great variety of dumbbells, which the gyms didn't have, or you needed to load the bar with more plates, shots of lead or use exercise machines. Which only really was possible in the last 100 to 200 years. Greek sculptures are therefore ore idealistic, they give us an idea of how the perfect body would look like, but they're never similar to reality. They're a product of the imagination of greek and roman sculptors. What we do with photoshop or steroids nowadays, our ancestors have done with extra bronze or marble hundreds of years ago.
