Not knowing the mineral ratios of zinc to copper in your body can prove deadly. Estrogen and testosterone are the main sex hormones in females and males, but there are many other hormones in our body which control its functions. In order to maintain your health at higher level, you should know how hormones work. For instance, there are hormones that control hunger and weight loss and they are called insulin, lepton and cortical. You can boost the hormones associated with controlling hunger and losing weight by developing certain habits. Many people relate insulin to diabetes which is due to it determining if the blood sugar is used for immediate energy or stored fat. What you consume and how you consume it directly affects the insulin levels. Great amount of insulin is produced due to the consumption of too many carbs, and as a result, the cells are not able to absorb it and the liver converts it to fat. If you want to control your insulin levels, you should eat small meals that include high fiber grains, vegetables and lean meats every 2-3 hours. On the other hand, you should avoid or even eliminate white pasta, highly processed foods, bread and white sugar. Cortical which is known as the stress hormone affects the blood sugar. It also regulates the metabolism, and controls salt and water balance. For instance, when you are under some kind of stress, the cortisol encourages the body to store fat around the vital organs. As a result, this process releases dangerous fatty acids into the blood and then raises both cholesterol and insulin levels. Make sure to take a walk during your lunch break, in order to control levels of cortiosol, but also cut down caffeine, eat slowly and sleep minimum 7 hours. Leptin is yet another hormone which is also known as the hunger hormone and it is directly linked to body fat and obesity. It is released from fat cells. It is very powerful since it can affect the time of your body that requires to feel satiated on the long term. In order to keep it under control, you will need to avoid the consumption of sugary and processed foods, be more physically active and get full night rest. How your meals should look like?. You should eat small meals every 2-3 hours and they should consist of healthy fats, veggies and lean proteins. Beside healthy meals, you should also sleep 7-9 hours per night and stay away from processed and sugary foods. Lead a healthy life by controlling your weight and hunger hormones.

Here are 10 signs that you have estrogen dominance: 1. Weight Gain Putting on more than a few extra pounds can be an indication of too much estrogen. It causes bloating and makes it even harder to lose the weight. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, your estrogen can’t suffer rapid changes. 2. Heavy Menstruation When your estrogen levels rise, it can have the unwanted side effect of giving you a heavier period than normal. So, if that happens, you might want to consider having your estrogen level checked. 3. ► 8 Signs That You Have Too Much Estrogen In many cases, having too much of something in your body is bound to cause some sort of issue. Take estrogen for example: according to WebMD, too much estrogen can cause weight gain. In fact, they also add that many overweight women tend to have high estrogen levels. For those who may not be familiar with what estrogen is, it’s an entire class of related hormones which includes estradiol, estriol and estrone, according to WebMD. Estrogen levels tend to rise at certain times. The main time is during puberty, which is when a girl’s body is beginning to change. Another reason estrogen may rise is because of weight gain, which coincidently, is one of the symptoms of high estrogen levels. Below you will find the signs that you have too much estrogen. Abdominal Weight Gain: According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, the fat tissue produces excess estrogen, mainly in the abdominal area, which can cause abdominal weight gain. As the fatty tissue produces estrogen, estrogen produces more fatty tissue, and if you have too much estrogen, this will cause weight gain in the area that has too much of it. Swollen or Tender Breasts: When you are pregnant, estrogen causes the breast ducts to enlarge. Also, progesterone, which is produced mainly in the ovaries following ovulation each month, can cause the breasts to feel sore, according to Healthline. They add that if you notice that your breasts are sore or swollen and you are not ovulating or pregnant, it could be a cause of too much estrogen. Thyroid Dysfunction: According to Outsmart Disease, many women who are in their 30’s will experience symptoms that are attributed to conditions such as thyroid disease because of too much estrogen. This occurs because when there is too much estrogen, the thyroid binding protein called thyroid binding globulin increases. When this occurs, the T4 and T3 thyroid hormones become low because they become attached to the thyroid globulin. This will prevent the thyroid hormones from entering the cells and can result in hyperthyroid symptoms. Irregular Periods: According to the Women’s Health Network, when a woman has an irregular period, which is when it comes too early or too late, she could experience weight gain, which is a sign of a hormonal imbalance which can also be caused by too much estrogen. As I mentioned earlier, fat tissues make estrogen; so the more you have, the more estrogen production. Fibrocystic Breasts: A woman’s breast changes occur in response to the hormones that are made by the ovaries. If a woman has fibrocystic breasts, it could be caused by high estrogen and low progesterone levels, according to Healthline. Women will experience breast tissue changes; they will become lumpy and rope-like. They will also be painful and tender to touch. Mood Swings: A hormonal imbalance can cause mood swings; which in this case would be too much estrogen. This occurs because it affects the chemistry of the brain, according to Healthline. Women who are pregnant or going through menopause can experience mood swings. Memory Problems: As I mentioned earlier, one of the signs of high estrogen is thyroid issues, which can result in hyperthyroidism. According to Healthline, hyperthyroidism can cause memory issues. This occurs because the body is unable to produce the hormone that is essential for energy metabolism. Headache: It is very common for women to experience headaches that are linked to hormonal fluctuations, according to Healthline. Calcium D-Glucarate: Is Estrogen Dominance keeping you from Losing Weight? What is Estrogen dominance? Isn’t estrogen a naturally occurring hormone? Why should I be concerned about it. Estrogen is a naturally occurring hormone and has many beneficial functions, however there are several things that can get it out of balance and the result in too much estrogen in your body. It is this lack of balance that can cause estrogen dominance. Over abundance of estrogen levels has been shown to be associated with, weight gain, difficulty losing weight, increased allergies, PMS symptoms, endometriosis, autoimmune diseases such as lupus, chronic elevated estrogen exposure, endometrial cancer, and breast cancer. While these may be extreme cases of estrogen dominance, if ED is suspected, corrective actions should be taken to ensure that hormone levels are brought back into balance. It is important to understand that estrogen dominance refers to increased levels of estrogen in relation to other hormones. Hormones are meant to balance one another, think of air conditioning and heat, too much of one will throw the system out of balance. Personal hygiene products may also have estrogenic promotion properties, such as shampoos or skin care products with estrogen or xenoestrogens. Some forms of birth control are estrogen based and can increase your estrogen levels. Estrogen dominance often accompanies Adrenal Fatigue because a body under stress activates the Neuroendometobolic (NEM) Stress Response automatically. Numerous organ systems and hormones are involved, including the adrenal glands and the liver. This can cause the liver and the gut to become overly stressed and hamper your ability to detoxify your body and eliminate estrogen. Which will, among other things, make it difficult for you to lose weight. How does Calcium D-Glucarate get Rid of Excess Estrogen In the normal functioning of the body, hormones (estrogen) often travel to the liver and are tagged for excretion. The neutralized hormone is secreted in bile, which travels out by way of solid waste, and must pass through the intestine. If your body is out of balance an enzyme, beta-glucarondidase, becomes too abundant. When beta-glucarondidase encounters a neutralized hormone, it breaks the bond to reactive this hormone and the hormone is then reabsorbed through the wall of the intestine. Although they’re identified with a specific gender, both hormones are found in women and men. Women have more estrogen and men have more testosterone It's also the hormone that can be the most troublesome in the fat department At normal levels, estrogen actually helps keep you lean by increasing the production of insulin, a hormone that manages blood sugar. When estrogen gets thrown off, though, it turns you into a weight-gain machine. Xenoestrogens are fat-soluble and non-biodegradable in nature. Unfortunately, accumulating estrogen is not hard. We are constantly exposed to estrogen-like compounds since the major sources of these Xenoestrogens are pesticides, detergents, petroleum products, plastic products, cosmetics, etc. (1) Fat Gain The "thickening" of women's bodies and the "softening" of men's bodies are often related to excess estrogen. When in excess, estrogen promotes the growth of estrogen sensitive tissues, leading to an increased size of adipose (fat) tissues in the waist, belly and other estrogen sensitive fat tissues In men, fat accumulation is typically in the belly and chest; for women, in the belly, lower butt, upper thighs and sometimes in the back of the arms. In some cases, excess estrogen causes feminization of men's bodies with conditions such as genecomastia. Estrogen sensitive fat tissues are also called "stubborn fat" due to their high resistance to fat burning. Generally, not even diet or exercise can help remove this estrogen sensitive tenacious fat. Excess estrogen works in a vicious cycle. Estrogen promotes fat gain, and the enlarged fat tissue produces more estrogen within its cells, which then promotes more fat gain, and so on. Cortisol Back in the bad old hunter-gatherer days, the human species got a lot of use out of the hormone cortisol. That's the stress hormone activated during the fight-or-flight response, causing our blood pressure to rise and heart rate to increase. But in the modern world, there's little need to either fight or flee. Yet the cortisol release remains functional in the species, only now it's activated in response to the stressors of modern society (e.g., bad traffic, malfunctioning machinery, domestic discord) rather than natural perils or challenges to survival. Fat Gain Repeated elevation of cortisol can lead to weight gain in 3 ways: 1) One way is via visceral fat storage. Cortisol can mobilize triglycerides from storage and relocate them to visceral fat cells (those under the muscle, deep in the abdomen). Cortisol also aids adipocytes’ development into mature fat cells. The biochemical process at the cellular level has to do with enzyme control (11-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase), which converts cortisone to cortisol in adipose tissue. Solutions Vitamin C Vitamin C is probably the best and most cost-effective supplement that you can take to balance high cortisol levels naturally. Multiple studies have found out that vitamin C supplementation after exercise rapidly clears cortisol and that when vitamin C is administered before a stressful situation it blunts the stress induced rise in cortisol. Both hormones decrease but the ratio of estrogen is still much higher than progesterone leaving someone in the state of estrogen dominance. The estrogen dominance will trigger another hormone, Corticotrophin Releasing Hormone (CRH) which basically a hormone that communicates to the pituitary. Cortisol is the main hormone that creates the problem. He also talks about the excess cortisol being very catabolic. I want to create this video on the mechanism on why menopause can make someone fat. So let’s start with the ovaries, the ovaries makes several hormones two being estrogen and progesterone. Now when you go through menopause at age 52, sometimes its earlier, sometimes it’s later you basically stop releasing eggs. An average women releases 400 eggs and after that last one, it’s done so we go through this menopause and they are going through retirement. Even though both of these hormones decrease the ratio of estrogen is still much higher than progesterone leaving someone in the state of estrogen dominance. The estrogen dominance will trigger another hormone, up in the brain hypothalamus, Corticotrophin Releasing Hormone (CRH) which basically a hormone that communicates to the pituitary another hormone called ACTH which then talks to the adrenals. You think about it like this, you have the owner of the football team, that’s the hypothalamus, and you have the coach which is the pituitary then you have the quarter back which is the adrenals. So basically you just have the three levels of communication. You don’t really need to know that, all you need to know is that when you have higher amounts of estrogen and even when you take birth control pills or are doing hormone replacement therapy, or exposed to too much estrogen in the environment, you are gonna trigger more cortisol and cortisol is the main hormone that creates the problem. And by the way, your own fat if you have too much of it can also make cortisol. Excess cortisol is very catabolic which means it breaks down muscle tissue, it is very destructive to your muscles. It is gonna break down the muscle tissue and gonna turn that into glucose or sugar which then converted through insulin to fat. This is why women that goes through menopause ends up with a lot of atrophy (loss of muscle and fat) and in their mind they think that these are all just excess fat when in fact it is a combination of loss of muscle and fat. So when they do a program a lot of times they get so frustrated when they stop losing weight that’s because what looks like fat is really atrophy. Menopause encourages weight gain, and it can start as early as your 30's. In this video, Dr. Becky explains how changes in your hormones encourage weight gain in your lower body when you’re in your thirties and forties. And, how those same hormones cause weight gain in the belly in your fifties and beyond. Hormones and Weight Gain Progesterone is a hormone that is primarily produced by your ovaries after ovulation. Estrogen is produced by your ovaries all month long, but can also be produced by your fat cells. You can enter early perimenopause in your 30’s. In this stage, it’s not unusual to skip ovulation a few times a year. The missed ovulation means there is less progesterone produced, which leads to a condition called estrogen dominance. A symptom of estrogen dominance is weight gain in the hips and thighs. Menopause and Belly Fat As you age, your period becomes increasingly irregular, and then stops when you reach menopause. At and beyond menopause, both estrogen and progesterone are low. Your body tries to get more estrogen from your fat cells by encouraging fat production. Grab a pen, pad, and something to drink especially if you are a woman that cannot lose A POUND OF WEIGHT! If you are concerned you're gaining weight for no reason, this is an important video for weight gain and weight loss due to hormones. Few years we were exposed to mold. It affected me with my hormones. Neurological problems, panic attacks, anxiety, feeling crazy, thyroid out the window and severe hormone problems. Adrenals out the window too, adrenal fatigue. With a lot of research and my own practitioner experience with a MS in Nutrition, BS Environmental Science, and AS in Massage Therapy. I knew there were something going on, one doesn't lose weight and feel crazy for no reason. One of my physicians gave me a mega dose of bioidentical progesterone at 200 mg / day. I gained a pound a week! All progesterone turned into estrogen and weight gain was so bad I gained 30 pounds of fat. Weight gain not due eating. I eat vegetables, proteins, complex carbohydrates that are all low glycemic. The weight gain was NOT due to diet. No sugar, no sugar drinks. The scale every week was going up a pound. I surrendered myself to the 30 pounds because I was sleeping better, not feeling as crazy, and stopped tremoring. 6 months went by and I found a different physician. He explained to me that ALL of the progesterone was turning into estrogen. Estrogen affects blood sugar by increasing insulin and also lowers thyroid function. Sugar increases in the blood and FAT STORES in the belly. It was tough!!! The dose of progesterone was lowered and was paired with chrysin. My progesterone and testosterone was low and estrogen was high. I stopped gaining weight immediately after the lower dose w/ progesterone and chrysin. Every few months I tried to lose weight and I'd feel crazy due to hormones releasing during weight loss. Sleep problems, anxiety, and feeling crazy. Then I started estrogen detoxification for 1.5 years SLOWLY every day, EVERY DAY and being mindful about diet no eating anything possibly estrogenic. No soy or pomegranates. No ginger, cinnamon, turmeric for me either. Lots of spice can act estrogenic affect too. I would keep detoxing then I would try to lose the bioidentical hormone weight gain and I would feel crazy again. The weight I gained for no logical reason! It took 2 years of detoxing estrogen before I could lose any weight. I would test the waters. January 1st 2018 I said ENOUGH of the weight. I remembered when I easily maintained weight and I did that. Breakfast NOON Lunch 4 pm Dinner 8 pm Snack 12 am (because of hypoglycemia) No snacking in between meals. No drinks with calories. Body will use the fuel from previous meals and will help balance leptin levels. This intermittant fasting thing started working really well and SLASHED calories to 1100-1200 a day. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1100 to 1200 calories on the 12-4-4-4 meal times with low glycemic (55 and under) foods. Friday, Saturday, Sunday normal calories and still low glycemic foods. Sometimes I do 12-4-4-4 and sometimes I snack. Not super ridgid. My BioIdentical Hormone Weight Gain & How I Lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks 1. Intermittent fasting 2. Calorie slashing 3. Glycemic Index under 55 Log all foods in the glycemic index to watch the GI and calories. Daily glycemic average is between 35-45. Very important to keep insulin levels low to lose weight.
