25 years of INTERREG - DG REGIO Senior Management Roadshow
During September and October 2015, eleven senior managers from DG REGIO visited one border region each in Europe. This 'Senior Management Roadshow' was created in order to raise awareness around the public consultation on overcoming obstacles in border regions, launched by Commissioner Creţu in Vienna on 21 September 2015, as well as to celebrate 25 years of Interreg achievements. Each visit was tailored to fit regional specificities, but all of them contained three main elements: a press point, project visits and a roundtable with stakeholders. The following borders were visited: France-Belgium, Sweden-Denmark, Italy-Slovenia, Poland-Germany, Czech Republic-Germany, Greece-Bulgaria, Slovakia-Hungary, Romania-Bulgaria, Ireland-UK (Northern Ireland), Portugal-Spain and Estonia-Latvia. * WHAT YOU CAN DO 1. Contact Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Colin Campbell and tell him to set the buffalo free, pull out of the Interagency Bison Management Plan, stop harassing and killing wildlife and work towards habitat-based solutions for America's last wild buffalo! colin_campbell@nps.gov 307-344-2003 2. Contact your Members of Congress and urge them to intervene with the Park on your behalf and to support federal funding to protect America's last wild buffalo and their habitat. Ask them to support the re-direction of funds wasted on the Interagency Bison Management Plan towards habitat-based solutions that honor the wild integrity of our national heritage. Write Your Representative & Write Your Senators 3. Contact Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer and THANK HIM for the 90-day stay of execution, tell him he did the right thing. Please also remind him that wild buffalo must be allowed to access habitat in Montana. Brucellosis is not the issue, but habitat for wild buffalo is the solution. Remind him that until Montana embraces and respects wild, free-roaming bison, the state will continue to be globally shamed by these actions against America's last wild buffalo! Remind him that tourism sustains Montana. governor@mt.gov 406-444-3111 4. Sign BFC's Petition to National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis urging him to abandon the failed Interagency Bison Management Plan. Sign it now. 5. Write Letters to the Editor to newspapers in your region to help raise awareness and bring an end to the unjust treatment of America's last wild buffalo. Write on for the buffalo here! 6. Vote for wild buffalo and all wildlife with your money by Boycotting beef. 7. Volunteer with BFC by joining us on the front lines! volunteer@buffalofieldcampaign.org 406-646-0070 8. Theory Based Impact Evaluation (TBIE)
Module 7: Methods of impact evaluation (IE) Module description: One single evaluation approach seldom fully captures the complexities of the impact of programmes. Consequently, it is challenging to find creative ways of combining different evaluation tools and techniques. In the module Methods of Impact Evaluation’ we will provide various materials and videos of theory-based and counterfactual impact evaluation approaches, all of which could be feasible for INTERREG programmes. For more information please check • the Interact website: http://www.interact-eu.net/library?field_fields_of_expertise_tid=16 • Q&A Approaches, ToR and methods for impact evaluation: http://www.interact-eu.net/library?field_fields_of_expertise_tid=16#791 • Q&A Evaluation 2014-2020, 1st version, January 2016, http://www.interact-eu.net/library?field_fields_of_expertise_tid=16#557 • ‘Addressing attribution of cause and effect in small n impact evaluations: towards an integrated framework’ Howard White and Daniela Phillips, International Imitative for Impact. Theory-based Impact evaluation (TBIE) ‘A theory-based impact evaluation focuses on programme theories; i.e., the assumptions of policy makers and stakeholders on the preconditions, mechanism and context for an intervention to work. Theory-based impact evaluations test these assumptions against observed results, following the different steps of the intervention logic and examining other influencing factors. They are thus able to explain why and how results have been achieved, and to appraise the contribution of the programme and of other factors’ (DG Regio). In this video we will highlight a few impact evaluation approaches (Theory of Change Approach, Realist Evaluation, Process Tracing, and Contribution Analysis) which might be feasible for Interreg programmes. For Interreg programmes with less experience in impact evaluation, the ‘Theory of Change Approach’ might be of more interest. This video was shot at the Interact Event Impact Evaluations: Methods and Terms of References on 21 June 2016 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands For more information please check • the Interact website: http://www.interact-eu.net/library?field_fields_of_expertise_tid=16 • Q&A Approaches, ToR and methods for impact evaluation: http://www.interact-eu.net/library?field_fields_of_expertise_tid=16#791 • Q&A Evaluation 2014-2020, 1st version, January 2016, http://www.interact-eu.net/library?field_fields_of_expertise_tid=16#557 • ‘Addressing attribution of cause and effect in small n impact evaluations: towards an integrated framework’ Howard White and Daniela Phillips, International Imitative for Impact. Top 3 reputation management tools for small business | Adsoup Roundup EP#5
https://Brand24.com https://Google.com/alerts https://Mention.com https://Adsoup.com According to research 1 out of every three consumers who receive a response an online complaint end up reposting a positive review. Also, 34% end up deleting their negative review altogether, which means managing your reputation online is pretty important. So here are three tools you can use to manage that reputation. Brand24 is a social media monitoring & analytics tool that helps you track & engage online conversations about your business. It regularly scours the web, either blog posts, social media chats or even YouTube comments, for mentions of your website or business name & then shows them to you in its dashboard. It does this in Real-time with its premium package or 12-hour updates in its basic package Another cool feature is that it will understand the sentiment of the conversations around your business, so you know if it’s positive or negative chatter online. As far as its sentiment analysis works, the company claims to give a 75% accuracy rating. This is about average for the majority of social media monitoring software packages available. A plus is that the company’s sentiment algorithms include emojis and slang. This is not something you will find on all tools like this There are limited ways to respond to social media messages in this tool, which may be a deal breaker for some. However, there's an API, which allows you to connect to something that does. Brand24 has 3 pricing plans ranging from 49 US a month to 400 US a month, but for most small business, the 49 dollar package will be more than enough. Google Alerts will suit those looking for a good “set and forget” tool, & while many complain about its lack of development and support, it is still a free tool. All you do is enter a keyword or 10, then set how you want to receive notifications when it finds mentions, & that’s the extent of its complexity. Alerts can be set-up about anything making this tool useful for individuals, SME's & corporates. A drawback is that Google will only alert you if new articles, pages or posts make it into their top ten of “Google News Results” “for your query”, “the top twenty Google WEB Search results” or the “Top ten google blog search results.” This means that if the top results remain static for a while, you won’t receive a notification, & it's likely you will only receive a fraction of the actual mentions regarding keywords or phrases being monitored. For users of this service, to get the most out of it, there are a few parameters need to be set such as How often alerts are received; this can be “As it happens, at most once a day, or at most once a week”. Results can be obtained from a particular region & in different languages, & it is possible to activate an option allowing the user to select the source of this information such as Blogs, News, or the Web. I would suggest looking into Google's search modifiers to receive maximum benefit from this free so tool, & while it’s not being supported or developed it's been around for a long time, & I can’t see anything saying that Google will close it down anytime soon. Let’s move on to our final social media monitoring tool. While it is not free, it is certainly worth a mention! Mention claims to be able to monitor your customers, campaigns, brand, competitors, products & industry anywhere online. Setting-up and installation of the tools are quick & easy while its functionality allows easy monitoring of your own brand or business, or competitors. Some users do say, however, that while this is a dynamic monitoring tool the ability to access historical data & how granular you can get on its results are limited. Mention claim to monitor over 1 billion sources say, from social media to blogs & unlike Brand 24, they do have more capacity to allow you to directly respond to users that are talking about your brand as it happens. Their pricing ranges from 29 us a month to 99 a month, & they have an enterprise version that is "price on application", their 29$ version is rather limited though with only 2 basic alerts, but you can get discounts on higher packages by paying annually. One key feature of their custom plan is the influencers dashboard, this tool, allows you to find digital influencers in your target demographic that you can reach out to, to get them to promote your product. That, however, is in their Price on application package, & I personally hate that, but they have a lot more features for.. however much they will charge, I will say it's going to be at least 3-400 a month. So that was 3 top tools to manage your reputation online, for more lists or news about Asia tech and startups, please subscribe to the channel or page. Please like & share this video, or if you have any questions or tools you want me to look into, please comment below.

Now down to work Harry and Meghan plan to launch themselves on international stage
Now down to work Harry and Meghan plan to launch themselves on international stage Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to launch themselves on the international stage with a major tour Down Under later this year. A high-profile trip to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga in October is being discussed at the highest level and aides are promising that the second half of this year will be ‘incredibly busy’ with official visits. The couple have already announced that they are delaying their honeymoon to return to work the week after their nuptials It is anticipated that Miss Markle – now the Duchess of Sussex – will join the Queen at the Chelsea Flower Show for the first time and make an appearance at one of her annual garden parties in the coming weeks. The royals will also undertake a couple of short overseas visits before the start of the summer, including a two-day visit to Dublin. Prince Harry, 33, is yet to visit Ireland but Miss Markle, 36, spent time in the country as an ambassador for the One Young World summit in 2014. But the couple plan to really showcase their work as a new royal ‘power couple’ later in the year, starting with a visit to Australia, where Harry’s inspirational Invictus Games for injured servicemen and women is being held in Sydney this October. They will then travel onto New Zealand, a country the prince fell in love with a number of years ago, followed by Fiji and Tonga. Their visits to Australia and New Zealand are particularly important as both are countries where Harry’s grandmother, the Queen, is still head of state. And with his father, Prince Charles, having been recently nominated at the next head of the Commonwealth, it is hoped that Harry and Miss Markle will boost the popularity of the royals there. Both Fiji and Tonga, in the South Pacific, are also members of the Commonwealth and the prince has long wanted to visit them. He met with the Fijian Prime Minister during March’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London. A spokesman for the couple said recently of their plans: 'They are already planning for all the work that’s happening in the second half of the year which is going to be incredibly busy.’ The only major barrier to the October trip will be if the couple, who have made no secret of their desire to start a family, find themselves expecting. Not only is long distance travel exceptionally gruelling in the early stages of pregnancy but Zika is an issue in the region and pregnant women are advised not to travel there. The Mail also understands that in recent months Meghan has been schooled in royal etiquette and traditions by royal household and diplomatic staff. This includes how to greet dignitaries – and expect to be greeted – once she becomes a member of the royal family, how to behave on royal engagements and the intricacies of palace life. ‘She is a very intelligent, elegant woman with enormous life experience, who has conducted herself impeccably. But there are a lot of pitfalls in public life, particularly as a member of the Royal Family, and she has been learning about what we call ‘the traditions’.’

Managing Water Resources in the Caribbean
Water resource management in the Caribbean is faced with various challenges. One of these challenges is the availability of relevant information. How can we start formulating plans for future management without developing a comprehensive understanding of the water resources that we have right now? This video highlights one of the major challenges to water resource management in the world today; knowledge. There is generally limited information regarding the available resources and therefore the necessary interventions that can improve access and supply of this resource. Establishing a baseline for the amount available, amount lost to leakage, the major challenges to management and consumers' willingness to pay can help us to better manage water resources in the Caribbean region. International Conference on Watershed Management: Debate on Water Governance (1)
This video was shot at the International Conference on Watershed Management, convened by the Mekong River Commission, during March 9-11, 2011 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The theme of the conference was ""From Local Watershed Management to Integrated River Basin Management at National and Transboundary Levels". The debate was part of the session on Governance that was co-organized by CPWF, IUCN and World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF). This debate is on the topic of governance, i.e. functional governance and institutional frameworks for integrated watershed and river basin management. In this session, the assumption that local informal and local formal institutions are necessary and sufficient in managing watersheds in the Mekong region is debated. Please note, this was a debate in which people took viewpoints and positions, which are not necessarily their own, as a means to bring out ideas and issues that would strengthen the discussion. Therefore the opinions addressed in this film do not necessarily reflect those of the organizers or the speakers themselves. To learn more about water management in the Mekong region, please visit http://www.mpowernetwork.org/ and http://www.mekong.waterandfood.org.

Birriliburu Rangers back on country in West Australian desert (extended)
In April 2013, Birriliburu in Western Australia was declared an Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) under a Federal Government program, enabling Traditional Owners to manage their land as a reserve. Since that time, Bush Heritage has been fostering a partnership with the Martu people through their organisation Mungarlu Ngurrankatja Rirraunkaja (MNR) and program managers from Central Desert Land & Community. Employing Traditional Owners from Wiluna and other communities, the Indigenous Ranger Program enables Martu people to manage their country and protect its outstanding conservation values. The program brings together traditional knowledge and science; providing an opportunity for cross-cultural exchange and better social, economic and environmental outcomes for the people and their land. The Birriliburu IPA is vast; at 6.6 million hectares, it’s nearly the size of Tasmania. Given this size, strategic management areas have been identified around significant conservation, cultural and heritage assets. Katjarra (Carnarvon Range), in the south-western pocket of Birriliburu, is one such area – where Birriliburu rangers are leading fire management, threatened species, feral animal and bush tucker work. How to green the world's deserts and reverse climate change | Allan Savory
"Desertification is a fancy word for land that is turning to desert," begins Allan Savory in this quietly powerful talk. And terrifyingly, it's happening to about two-thirds of the world's grasslands, accelerating climate change and causing traditional grazing societies to descend into social chaos. Savory has devoted his life to stopping it. He now believes -- and his work so far shows -- that a surprising factor can protect grasslands and even reclaim degraded land that was once desert. Issues With Your Manager? Not Anymore! Decode Your Manager✓
Join me and 5,000 others at LIG so I can show you how you can transform your career. Registrations are now open again; https://goo.gl/Z95zVB Watch next: One Simple Talk That May Change Your Career and Life: https://youtu.be/R-PAfs_4un8 We’ve all been there; dealing with difficult, mean, demanding, micromanaging managers… The art of managing up. In this episode, I’ll first start with the type of common leadership types, then teach you how you can decode your manager and use it to your advantage. As always, I’ll share with you a story from my past and hopefully keep things very grounded for you. If you can just be patient for the first few minutes, the fun part will start. Welcome to this week’s video. We are going to talk about a critical factor in your career if you want to be successful, or in some cases just purely survive. This critical skill you need to develop is called managing your manager or managing your boss. First we are going to quickly go over the textbook Organizational Behaviour, the type of leaders and how you can manage them. Then, I will talk about particular tips to maximize your success and finally, we are going to talk about the outliers. The types that don’t necessarily fit in typical organizational behavior context but are extremely common to see. And as always, I am going to keep things very grounded, practical for you. I will share with you many examples from my own work history and show you how I dealt with various different managers I worked with in my 15-year career. I am very confident it’ll be another eye-opening video for you. Let’s start with textbook stuff. So, there are 4 major types of leadership styles; First is Dictatorial or Authoritarian Managers. Second is Laissez Faire Manager this means, the manager leaves his team do their own thing. These kind of managers are very hands-off. The third is the opposite of Laissez Faire. This 3rd group is called Control Freaks; these are the ones that seek unconditional commitment from their teams. They micromanage every action and decision. And lastly Fourth is Consultative Managers or as some call them democratic managers. Consultative managers typically ask for their team’s input for every single thing. This is from a typical organizational behavior textbook on leadership types. What I don’t agree with this is that in my 15-year career, 8 years in management consulting with 100s of clients, I have never seen a manager or a leader who fits in any of these categories 100% of the time. No manager or a leader is going to be 100% Dictatorial or 100% Consultative. In practice, managers are more like a mix of these 4 leadership styles; right? We are not homogenous beings nor our characters. ______________________________________________________________ Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported— CC BY 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Music by Nicolai Heidlas; Cosmo Discover Wings Queen of The Skies Paint it DJ Regard

TEDxNITCalicut - Gopinath Parayil tells about the Pain and Palliative Care initiative at Calicut
Gopinath Parayil (Gopi) 38, from Tirur in Malappuram district studied computers, business management and disaster management. However, he attributes his tipping point as a social entrepreneur to his experience of volunteering at the Pain and Palliative Care Society starting in 1993 in Kozhikode, Kerala. Gopi set up Nila Foundation in 2004 out of the passion for the region he comes from and a concern for a unique river (Bharatapuzha) civilization that was under threat. While exploring a sustainable financial support for the foundation and initiatives surrounding creating meaningful connection for local people with the river, he came up with the idea of The Blue Yonder (TBY), a pioneering travel company designed on the premises of Sustainable and Responsible practices. Ever since, his company has been breaking every single norm that is associated with a conventional tour operator business. TBY, one of the most innovative responsible travel companies in the country has successfully linked tourism to work in conservation, cultural and natural heritage preservation, livelihood generation and community health care among others. 2009 December Outlook Business magazine featured Gopi amongst the 50 Social Entrepreneurs in India who enrich the nation. TBY has won multiple international awards and recognitions for their responsible tourism initiatives including Condé Nast Traveler World Savers Awards 2007, World Travel Market First Choice Responsible Tourism Award 2006 and was featured among the '8 great trips that give back to communities' by Condé Nast Traveler magazine in 2009. 2011, ITB Berlin, world's largest Travel show in Germany has chosen The Blue Yonder as it's official sustainable tourism partner. The collective experience of building a responsible tourism initiative through The Blue Yonder and being part of Palliative Care movement in Kerala from the scratch led him to believe that many socio-economic issues can be addressed and resolved by ordinary people if their energies are channelized in the right direction. It was this thought that led to the conception of niiti consulting. An MBA from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and MSc in Disaster Management from Cranfield University, Gopi studied computer management from Pune University. He is currently involved in setting up a 24X7 TV channel focusing on sustainable living in India.
