The company Sonnenkraft GmbH (subsidiary of the VKR Group) our office developed the house of the future, which should set the standard for the year 2020. In addition to the previously known house type of Passive House, a new, further developed building concept, which is based not only on energy saving but above all on solar energy production, will point the way into the future.
From this question we have developed three main theses for living in the future:
1. The place of habitation must be adapted to the user
(that is, variably adapting to fast-changing lifestyles, providing the highest level of comfort while maintaining low maintenance, balancing the calming posture with the increasingly hectic outside world and providing a sense of well-being).
2. Integration of building technology / control and building construction
(that is, a natural combination of technology and architecture to a homogeneous whole and a high degree of flexibility of the "shell" to easily update new techniques, coupled with intelligent building control).
3. High energy efficiency - ecologically sustainable
(That is, the building is supposed to generate the energy that is consumed by itself - the house as its own "power plant", use of building biology materials with low primary energy input and high sustainability).
For the model project it was necessary to unite the different "layers" into a harmonious whole. In close cooperation with the Department of Architecture of the University of Applied Sciences Regensburg (Br. Prof. Dr. Lenzen) and the Fraunhofer Institute ISE from Freiburg, our various building designs were examined energetically and architecturally. The generated building shape - similar to a crystal - follows the course of the sun and, even on areas that are not optimally aligned, allows optimal active use of solar energy. The angles of inclination of the wall and roof surfaces are ideally adapted to the respective orientation and type of use (solar thermal or photovoltaic). The structure is constructed as a modern, highly insulated timber frame construction with FJI beam construction.
The open main living-living-cooking-dining rooms are fully glazed to the south and connected to the outdoor area without thresholds via large sliding doors. The interior & exterior space merge. In addition to the vertical slats, the cantilevered OG body offers an automatic summer sun protection. The internal development is carried out from a central, through-connected distribution area with open staircase, which separates the individual rooms on the first floor into a children's and parents' area. In the rooms of the upper floor, the polygonal crystalline building form can be experienced spatially.
Supporting the theme of the crystal, roof and wall are covered with the same materiality. Solar thermal, photovoltaic surfaces and anthracite-colored, glued cement-bonded fiber panels alternate with each other. The entire building is barrier-free. In case of a change in use, the EC can be separated as a separate housing unit, or the lightweight inner walls can be easily moved.
