He’s been a nationally-recognized leader in the fight back against the opioid crisis, authoring legislation signed into law which provides additional resources for our law enforcement to secure the border and stop the flow of deadly drugs into our communities. Congress Won't Have to take public option in national healthcare plan
Five House Republicans hope to add to Democrats' healthcare reform bill an amendment that would automatically enroll members of Congress in the public option program. The effort, spearheaded by Reps. John Fleming (La.), Joe Wilson (S.C.), Wally Herger (Calif.), Phil Gingrey (Ga.) and Steve Scalise (La.), would bar lawmakers from participating in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, which they currently use for health insurance. Instead, members would have to rely on the Health Insurance Exchange and the public option plan House Democrats are proposing in their latest healthcare reform effort. If Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi [D-Calif.] and her Democratic counterparts truly believe that their government insurance option is the best way forward for healthcare in the United States, then they should be fully supportive of amending the bill to ensure that every single member of Congress, both in the House and Senate, is enrolled in it," explained Rep. Gingrey, who is leading the new campaign. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/66331-gop-members-offer-amendment-to-force-congress-to-participate-in-public-plan

Congress is Back, and Healthcare Should Be on the To-do List
Congress is back in session, and it has a full month ahead. They have to deal with hurricanes, raise the debt limit, fund the government, keep us out of war, AND they want to talk about cutting taxes, too. With all this going on, it's going to be hard to get anything done around healthcare, but there's lots that needs to be done. Is Congress Getting Special Healthcare Treatment?
Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with TN Mornings at 5 am and News at 9 pm.Washington, DC--Kristine Frazao ReportingYou could call it perks for politicians. As part of the Affordable Care Act, they too get their coverage through the new healthcare exchanges. But the velvet rope that most Americans have been forced to stand behind, waiting and waiting. It's all detailed in a new report by the New York Times showing that members of congress have their own hotline to call for help, a special website just for them and choose from high level gold plans which are 75% subsidized by taxpayers.David Williams is the president of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance and says it's yet another example of the growing gap between Washington and the rest of the country. David Williams says, people are frustrated because they see a congress that's living large, that's enjoying perks and benefits and people outside the beltway are cutting back. We showed the article to several people vacationing in the nation's capitol and asked them to respond . Mary Spencer says, what do you think about the fact that congress has a lot easier time signing up for this health plan it's probably not the best plan considering we're all equal people Hanna Kane says , they're serving our country and helping make decisions for sometimes the whole world and a lot of times the country so i think they deserve better healthcare Reporter Kristine Frazao says , the insurance companies think they deserve better healthcare as well, as they've taken it upon themselves to set up some of those perks. and there are many critics who say this should be cause for concern. David Williams says when you have an insurance company make it easier for members of congress to get their healthcare to log on, it's a form of lobbying saying we're good people, don't over-regulate us, we're here to help you. It's help many others still haven't gotten.

Congress OKs Final Changes to Healthcare Overhaul
Congress has approved a package of final changes to the landmark healthcare overhaul. The House of Representatives put the finishing touches on the bill Thursday night after the Senate approved the package on a 56-43 vote. The reconciliation package does not include a public insurance option, though backers of the plan said they will work to see it implemented in follow-up legislation.

The real reason American health care is so expensive
Hint: single-payer won’t fix America’s health care spending. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Americans don't drive up the price by consuming more health care. They don't visit the doctor more than other developed countries: http://international.commonwealthfund.org/stats/annual_physician_visits/ But the price we pay for that visit - for a procedure - it costs way more: http://static1.squarespace.com/static/518a3cfee4b0a77d03a62c98/t/57d3ca9529687f1a257e9e26/1473497751062/2015+Comparative+Price+Report+09.09.16.pdf The price you pay for the same procedure, at the same hospital, may vary enormously depending on what kind of health insurance you have in the US. That's because of bargaining power. Government programs, like Medicare and Medicaid, can ask for a lower price from health service providers because they have the numbers: the hospital has to comply or else risk losing the business of millions of Americans. There are dozens of private health insurance providers in the United States and they each need to bargain for prices with hospitals and doctors. The numbers of people private insurances represent are much less than the government programs. That means a higher price when you go to the doctor or fill a prescription. Uninsured individuals have the least bargaining power. Without any insurance, you will pay the highest price. The Republican health care bill makes no sense
The bill doesn’t know what problem it’s trying to solve. For more Vox analysis: http://www.vox.com/2017/1/5/14179258/obamacare-repeal-republican-votes-trump You can read the bill here: http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/06/politics/house-republicans-obamacare-repeal-replace-text/ https://waysandmeans.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/03.06.17-AmericanHealthCareAct_Summary.pdf Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Republicans in the House have finally released a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare: the American Health Care Act. The GOP healthcare bill keeps some of the most popular parts of Obamacare, like letting young adults stay on their parents' health insurance until age 26 and requiring insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions. But the Republican bill gets rid of the key element that made Obamacare work: the individual mandate. Now that people aren't required to have insurance, healthy people could leave insurance pools en masse, leaving sick people who are more expensive to cover. Hypocrisy is a minor sin in politics, but still, it is remarkable how much of it there is to be found in this legislation. A core Republican complaint when Obamacare was passed was that the law delayed many of its provisions in order to reduce public outcry and manipulate the CBO’s score. The GOP bill is similarly aggressive with such tricks, delaying changes to the Medicaid expansion until 2020 and pushing Obamacare’s tax on expensive insurance plans out until 2025. Because Republicans aren’t even trying to win Democratic votes, they’re stuck designing a bill that can wiggle through the budget reconciliation process (another thing they complained about Democrats doing). That means they can’t make major changes to insurance markets like repealing Obamacare’s essential benefit standards or allowing insurance to be sold across state lines. That last part is particularly striking, given that it was one of President Trump’s five demands in his speech last week. I’ve always been skeptical about the savings Republicans could wrest by changing those regulations, but now they can’t get those savings at all — which means sacrificing a key part of their theory of cost control. This bill has a lot of problems, and more will come clear as experts study its language, the Congressional Budget Office release its estimates, and industry players make themselves heard. But the biggest problem this bill has is that it’s not clear why it exists. What does it make better? What is it even trying to achieve? Democrats wanted to cover more people and reduce long-term costs, and they had an argument for how their bill did both. As far as I can tell, Republicans have neither. At best, you can say this bill makes every obvious health care metric a bit worse, but at least it cuts taxes on rich people? Is that really a winning argument in American politics? In reality, what I think we’re seeing here is Republicans trying desperately to come up with something that would allow them to repeal and replace Obamacare. This is a compromise of a compromise of a compromise aimed at fulfilling that promise. But “repeal and replace” is a political slogan, not a policy goal. This is a lot of political pain to endure for a bill that won’t improve many peoples’ lives, but will badly hurt millions. What happens when you treat health care like a soap opera
Cable news treated a major health care vote like an episode of House of Cards. That kind of coverage might make for entertaining television, but it badly warps the way viewers at home understand what's at stake in the fight over health care. Follow Strikethrough on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/CarlosMazaVox/ In the coverage of the Republican effort to repeal and replace Obamacare, cable news networks have largely fixated on the drama of trying to get the Republican’s bill through Congress: the vote whipping, the partisan infighting, and Trump’s efforts to make a “deal” with the more conservative members of his party. Treating the debate over health care like an episode of House of Cards might make for good television, but it fails to accomplish the basic goal of good political journalism: to explain why this stuff matters to people outside of DC. And if the angry town halls across the country reveal anything, it’s that you don’t need the drama of congressional politics to make people care about what’s happening to their health care. Dear Congress: Scrap the Current Healthcare Bill and Try Again
Over the last 24 hours since the GOP introduced legislation to replace and repeal Obama care the plan has been reviewed, debunked, trashed and ripped to shreds by lawmakers, critics and constituents on both sides of the party. Many are calling for lawmakers to go back to the drawing board and try again, clearing the possibility for more embarrassment for the Republican party. The overall sentiment of the bill is that it grossly fails to meet the basic promises made to conservative voters who have stood by their party leaders since ACA's inception with the hope that new GOP leadership of 2017 would truly repeal the Affordable Care Act. http://www.redstate.com/joesquire/2017/03/08/dear-congress-scrap-current-healthcare-bill-try/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Vote It using http://wochit.com

SOUNDBITE: (English) Barack Obama, President of the United States: "I am not the first President to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last." 5. Cutaway of applause in chamber 6. Wide of chamber 7. SOUNDBITE: (English) Barack Obama, President of the United States: "It has now been nearly a century since Theodore Roosevelt first called for health care reform. And ever since, nearly every President and Congress, whether Democrat or Republican, has attempted to meet this challenge in some way. A bill for comprehensive health reform was first introduced by John Dingell Senior in 1943. Sixty-five years later, his son continues to introduce that same bill at the beginning of each session." 7. Close up of Senator John Dingell 8. Wide of people applauding Dingell 9. Wide of Obama at podium 10. SOUNDBITE: (English) Barack Obama, President of the United States: "We are the only Democracy, the only advanced Democracy on earth, the only wealthy nation that allows such hardship for millions of its people. There are now more than 30 (m) million American citizens who cannot get coverage. In just a two year period one in every three Americans goes without healthcare coverage at some point and every day 14,000 Americans loose their coverage, in other words it can happen to anyone." 11. Cutaway of applause 12. SOUNDBITE: (English) Barack Obama, President of the United States: "But what we have also seen in these last months is the same partisan spectacle that only hardens the disdain many Americans have towards their own government. Instead of honest debate, we have seen scare tactics. Some have dug into unyielding ideological camps that offer no hope of compromise. Too many have used this as an opportunity to score short-term political points, even if it robs the country of our opportunity to solve a long-term challenge. And out of this blizzard of charges and counter-charges, confusion has reigned. Well the time for bickering is over. The time for games has passed. Now is the season for action." 13. Cutaway of chamber 14. SOUNDBITE: (English) Barack Obama, President of the United States: "And while there remains some significant details to be ironed out, I believe a broad consensus exists for the aspects of the plan I just outlined, consumer protections for those with insurance, an exchange that allows individuals and small businesses to purchase affordable coverage and a requirement that people who can afford insurance, get insurance and I have no doubt these reforms will greatly benefit Americans from all walks of life and as well as the economy as a whole." 15. Wide of Obama being applauded 16. SOUNDBITE: (English) Barack Obama, President of the United States: "I understand how difficult this healthcare debate has been, I know many in this country are deeply skeptical that government is looking out for them. I understand the politically safe move would be to kick the can further down the road, to defer reform one more year, or one more election, or one more term, but that is not what this moment calls for, that is not what we came here to do. We did not come to fear the future, we came here to shape it, I still believe we can act, even when its hard." 17. Wide of Obama at end of speech 18. Trump will END them! Trump DOUBLES DOWN on Healthcare Threat! Issues Second Warning in 3 Days About Ending Congressional Healthcare Loopholes- “Why should Congress not be paying what public pays?” In his second threatening Tweet in 3 days, President Trump just threatened Congress. He is willing to hit them where it hurts, and they deserve it. Saturday, the President tweeted: If ObamaCare is hurting people, & it is, why shouldn’t it hurt the insurance companies & why should Congress not be paying what public pays? On Saturday, the President tweeted: “If a new HealthCare Bill is not approved quickly, BAILOUTS for Insurance Companies and BAILOUTS for Members of Congress will end very soon!” It turns out that members of Congress are not subject to Obamacare like the rest of us, and if they don’t get off their asses and pass a new HealthCare Bill soon, President Trump is going to eliminate the loophole that allows Congress to be exempt from Obamacare. Can we hear a “HECK YES”?!?! That is perfect! Anyone who doubts that the President will actually follow through and do it, must have had their head in the sand for the past six months. The Wall Street Journal reports: Mr. Trump’s statement came less than two days after the collapse in the Senate of Republicans’ effort to overturn the Affordable Care Act. For months, Mr. Trump has threatened to stop reimbursements to insurance companies—a part of the ACA—but his administration has always paid them in the end, including amid significant uncertainty in June and at a crucial moment in GOP negotiations just a week ago in July. The next set of payments, which total millions of dollars for insurers that have lowered deductibles and other out-of-pocket costs for the poorest enrollees in coverage under the law also known as Obamacare, is due in three weeks. Mr. Trump’s Saturday tweet came on the heels of several others expressing his disappointment that GOP senators had so far failed to come together around a single piece of legislation that would fulfill a shared campaign pledge of repealing the ACA and enacting their own set of proposals in its place. What is really insane is the way Congress has been getting away with this to begin with. This is a perfect example of another shady deal from the Obama administration. Here’s how the trickery works now: The Independent Journal Review writes: In the FEHBP, under Section 8901(6) of Title V, the health plans must be “group” plans. So, no problem: OPM certified the DC SHOP exchange, reserved for firms with fewer than fifty employees, as the health insurance exchange for Congress. All Congress had to do was to somehow turn itself into a small business, with fewer than fifty employees. And, incredibly, that is exactly what unnamed congressional bureaucrats did: They submitted paperwork identifying each chamber of Congress as a small business, employing forty-five people apiece.

9 Million Children Could Lose Healthcare As Congress Lets Funding For Program Expire
As the media was distracted by Trump’s horrific behavior towards Puerto Rico this past weekend, Congress allowed the funding for CHIP to expire, jeopardizing the healthcare coverage of 9 million American children. This could end up being a death sentence for many of these children who have no other means of getting coverage, but as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains, Republicans don’t care because those children aren’t funding their campaigns.   Link – https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2017/10/01/9-million-kids-get-health-insurance-under-chip-congress-just-let-it-expire/?utm_term=.e55172500e67 Ring of Fire needs your help! While the corporate media was distracted by all of Donald Trump's tweets and stupidity and anger towards Puerto Rico over this past weekend, Congress was able to do something that many of us didn't think they were actually gonna follow through it. They allowed funding to expire for the CHIP program, which provides health insurance for nine million children here in the United States. By allowing that funding to expire, that means that this program will no longer be receiving federal funding, which means that in most states those children will automatically be without health insurance. Now, the federal government pays for most of the CHIP program. Some of the money for it comes at the state level and some states actually do have a little bit of money leftover at the moment to keep the program going for just a little while. Maybe not all nine million children in the United States are gonna be without health insurance, but the majority of people who got their insurance through CHIP will be. This program provided routine well visits for children, immunizations, prescriptions, glasses, dental care, lab and X-ray services, all kinds of things for children who otherwise would not have any other means of healthcare here in the United States and the Republicans and Congress, because they're so damn lazy and incompetent, couldn't be bothered to extend this program. Why? Most likely because they want to try to tie it to some kind of Obamacare repeal and if the Democrats won't go along with that, then they're gonna hold this nine million children as some sort of political hostage, so that they can get what they want and kick 32 million people off of their health insurance plans. That is what the Republicans want. There is no reason why any of these children should be without health insurance. There's no reason why anyone in this country should be without health insurance. But that is exactly what the Republicans want. Why? Because if they can do that, they're gonna somehow twist it to say to look how democratic party's fail. "The Democrats did this even though we were 100% responsible for it". There is enough dumb people in this country to actually believe it. Republicans are heartless, soulless monsters, ladies and gentlemen. Because wouldn't you have to be to let nine million children in this country suddenly lose their health insurance, because you've got some kind of political ax to grind with the opposition party. But that is exactly what we're dealing with, with Republicans in the United States today.

Fox Chicago: Previews Preckwinkle ACA Press Conf; Congress #WhatsYourPlan for Healthcare
Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle, Dr. Jay Shannon, CEO of Cook County Health and Hospitals System, Join Hospital Workers to Call On Congress Not to Take Away Healthcare from Millions of Americans As Congress Returns Home for Recess Advocates Ask “What’s Your Plan” to House Republicans and Trump Administration as Efforts to Repeal the Affordable Care Act Move Forward Repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, will take away healthcare for more than 30-million Americans and cause an estimated 1,150,000 Illinoisans to lose health insurance coverage. In addition, gutting the ACA will cost at least 114,000 job losses just in Illinois by 2019 with further economic damage to the state to come. Such a nightmare scenario would unleash chaos for working families unable to get affordable health insurance and risk collapsing Cook County’s and Illinois’ safety net hospital system, forcing hospitals and clinics to close, cost thousands of jobs, and burden taxpayers with enormous unforeseen financial repercussions and spiraling health insurance premiums. As members of Congress return to their home districts during recess, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Dr. Jay Shannon, CEO of the Cook County Health and Hospitals System, will join healthcare workers from SEIU Local 73 and SEIU Healthcare Illinois to hold a joint press conference and rally outside Stroger Hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 21st at 11:30am. They will offer a strong plea to all members of Congress not to repeal the ACA and ask “what’s your plan” for the ACA’S replacement. Advocates say repealing affordable healthcare without a better replacement plan is both irresponsible and grossly immoral as people’s lives are at stake. WHEN: Tuesday, February 21st, 2017; Press Conference to start at 11:30am. (Healthcare workers, patients, community leaders to gather outside at 11:15am) WHERE: Outside the Fantus Clinic, near the ER at Stroger Hospital of Cook County Address to John H. Rand Paul Answers Tough Questions on His Healthcare Plan | Obamacare Repeal
Senator Rand Paul joined the House Freedom Caucus in answering questions about his plan to repeal and replace Obamacare. Check out Rand Paul's website here▼ http://www.paul.senate.gov/ Like Rand Paul on Facebook▼ http://www.facebook.com/RandPaul Follow Rand Paul on Twitter▼ http://twitter.com/RandPaul Follow Rand Paul on Instagram▼ http://instagram.com/drrandpaul/ A Short Bio on Rand Paul Senator Rand Paul, M.D. is one of the nation’s leading advocates for liberty. Elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010, Dr. Paul has proven to be an outspoken champion for constitutional liberties and fiscal responsibility. As a fierce advocate against government overreach, Rand has fought tirelessly to return government to its limited, constitutional scope. A devoted husband and father, Dr. Paul and his family live in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where Rand owned his own ophthalmology practice and performed eye surgery for 18 years. As a hard-working and dedicated physician--not a career politician--Rand Paul came to Washington to shake things up and to make a difference. Dr. Paul has been married for 24 years to Kelley Ashby Paul of Russellville, Kentucky, and together, they have three sons: William, 21; Duncan, 18; and Robert, 15. He regularly volunteered to coach teams for each of his three sons in Little League baseball, soccer, and basketball. Rand and Kelley are both devout Christians and are active in their local church. Rand is the third of five children born to Carol and Ron Paul. He grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and attended Baylor University. He graduated from Duke Medical School in 1988. Dr. Paul completed a general surgery internship at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Duke University Medical Center. Upon completion of his training in 1993, Rand and Kelley moved to Bowling Green to start their family and begin his ophthalmology practice. In 1995, Rand founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic, an organization that provides eye exams and surgery to needy families and individuals. Rand is a former president and 17-year member of Lions Clubs International, which is dedicated to preserving sight by providing eyeglasses and surgery to the less fortunate around the world. In recognition of his outstanding and sustained efforts to provide vision care to Kentuckians in need, Lions Clubs International has awarded Rand many of its highest commendations. A large part of Rand's daily work as an ophthalmologist was dedicated to preserving the vision of our seniors. In 2002, The Twilight Wish Foundation recognized Rand for Outstanding Service and Commitment to Seniors. During his free time, Dr. Paul performs pro-bono eye surgeries for patients across Kentucky. Additionally, he provides free eye surgery to children from around the world through his participation in the Children of the Americas Program. Most recently, he traveled to Guatemala on a medical mission trip with the University of Utah's Moran Eye Center. During the week over 200 patients, many of them blind with cataracts had their vision restored by Dr. Paul. Dr. Paul's entrance into politics is indicative of his life’s work as a surgeon: a desire to diagnose problems and provide practical solutions, whether it be in Bowling Green, Kentucky or Washington, D.C. Randal Howard "Rand" Paul (born January 7, 1963) is an American physician and politician from Kentucky. In office since 2011, Paul currently serves in the United States Senate as a member of the Republican Party. He is also a trained ophthalmologist and is the middle son of former U.S. Representative and physician Ron Paul of Texas. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Paul attended Baylor University and is a graduate of the Duke University School of Medicine. Paul began practicing ophthalmology in 1993 in Bowling Green, Kentucky and established his own clinic in December 2007. Paul has been considered a supporter of the Tea Party movement, and a vocal critic of the Federal Reserve System. He has opposed NSA mass surveillance of Americans and supports reduced government spending and taxation. He describes himself as "100% pro-life" and has cosponsored legislation for the equal protection of the right to life from conception. Paul officially announced his candidacy for the 2016 U.S. presidential election on April 7, 2015.

Obama urges Congress to be cautious on healthcare overhaul
With the US Republicans' replacement for Obamacare due before the Senate, the architect of the law being repealed has said he hopes Congress will look beyond party lines. Accepting an award in Boston, the former president spoke days after the House of Representatives narrowly passed a bill seeking to overturn the law that enabled 20 million more Americans to get health insurance. "I hope that current members of Congress recall that it actually doesn't take a lot of courage to aid those who are… READ MORE : http://www.euronews.com/2017/05/08/obama-urges-congress-to-be-cautious-on-healthcare-overhaul What are the top stories today? Cannabis Congress: Republicans and Democrat talk about Medical Marijuana on House Floor
I'll say it again: cannabis is THE issue of 2018 and 2020, and here are twenty minutes that adds to the evidence. Prepare yourself. You are about to witness an actual bipartisan group of Representatives in the House discuss the benefits of medical marijuana and allowing states to make their own decisions on cannabis. Congressman Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) started the cannabis conversation and went after U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions directly for his stance on marijuana and actions to hinder research. Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) seemed almost giddy that the issue he has been working on for decades is actually making progress in this Congress and seems confident that with Trump backing up his campaign promises to Se. Gardner, there is a chance cannabis prohibitions on basic business operations like banking can be resolved. Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) took to the floor to announce his new legislation with the backing of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) that would allow the research on cannabis that they so desperately claim they need. There is no doubt in my mind that cannabis is the number one issue for the upcoming elections. It is an issue that crosses all party lines and demographics. Trump's disdain for Sessions may be just the the energy we need for him to distract from his problems and Make America Green Again! Congress to pass schip healthcare bill children bush veto
Congress is trying to pass a new healthcare bill for children, but President Bush already plans to veto it. Last week's vote was only 13 votes short of the total number of supporting votes needed to override President Bush's veto in the House. The bill had passed in the Senate with more than the two-thirds majority needed to override a presidential veto. Can you help run ads in Representatives' districts that voted against children's healthcare? It is time to tell these Representatives to support American children or we will no longer support them.

HealthCare Myth: Congress did not exempt themselves
Linda Douglass of the White House Office of Health Reform answers a question from outside the recent town hall in New Hampshire on why Congress voted to exempt themselves from reform. This is a myth: there is no exemption and there has not been any such vote. To the contrary, reform gives all Americans access to an insurance exchange much like the one Congress has enjoyed, and just like Congress, Americans will be free to make their own choices. Healthcare Spending Hits $3.5 Trillion PER YEAR, Over $10k Per US Citizen
Americans are spending more and more money on healthcare each year, and that number just continues to climb. At this rate, we can’t afford to NOT have Medicare for All as a country, as it would actually save us money in the long run. Americans understand the issue, its just our politicians who don’t seem to understand this is the only way forward. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.   Link – https://www.commondreams.org/views/2018/12/07/35-trillion-healthcare-each-year-and-were-still-uninsured-underinsured-and-unhappy Support us by becoming a monthly patron on Patreon, and help keep progressive media alive!: https://www.patreon.com/TheRingofFire Spread the word! With all that we're spending, we can no longer afford to not have a Medicare for All system here in the United States. A new report, and you can actually find a link to it in the description of this video says that if we were to enact Medicare for All and we put every United States citizen on this, Medicare for All plan wages for workers would actually increase by about nine percent. Expenses for corporations would decrease by eight percent, so corporations have to spend less money so that eight percent in savings suddenly becomes eight percent in profit. That they could either spend giving their work as a raise, which they won't, or more likely they could give it to their CEO, but how they can do that because everybody would have health insurance wages would increase by nine percent according to this study because we wouldn't be paying those massive premiums for healthcare. We would still be paying premiums, but they would not be as high. We are at a point, a pivotal point in the United States in our history where we cannot afford to stay the way we are. We have to evolve, we have to adapt and we have to change and we have to do it pretty damn quick. Not just on the issue of healthcare but on issues like climate change as well, but on the issue of health healthcare, this is something we could fix in a heartbeat. We just refuse to do it and the problem is the public wants us to do it. They want Medicare for All by an overwhelming majority left, right center. Everyone, majority of everyone wants this done. It's our elected officials that aren't doing it. Now we have some great incoming Democrats to the House of Representatives in January, people that are going to shake things up and they're going to push for policies like this alongside existing people like Senator Bernie Sanders, a representative Ro Khanna, people who are already pushing for this. We will have more voices for it, but that still may not be enough. I haven't seen anyone, not a single person on the republican side of the aisle in DC and elected official saying, we should go this route and if we don't have that, then this can never become reality. They need to look at the numbers. Even the Republican funded studies show that Medicare for All would save us money, but now we're talking about nickel and diming it. Average workers get a raise. Corporations get a cut. They don't have to pay as much money. I mean, good God. We're looking at a system where literally everyone wins, except of course the insurance companies and they throw a lot of money around Washington DC, so to the drug companies and that's the problem. As long as that money exists, as long as their lobbyists are out there talking to these members of Congress every day, we're not going to see change and this is a change that would benefit every single person in this country. We would all have better healthcare and we would all save money corporations to. And yet we can't have it because Republicans in DC and plenty of Democrats as well want to keep their options open and make sure that that money from the insurance industry, from big Pharma, from these hospital corporations, they want to make sure that that money keeps flowing in so we get screwed. But they get a few extra dollars for their reelection campaign.
