Why Vitamin E is an important part of your dog's diet

00:45
In this video, Dr. Justin Shmalberg explains the importance of vitamin E in a fresh dog food diet. Vitamin E is placed in dog food diets for multiple reasons. The first reason is because it is a required natural antioxidant that protects the inside of the cell against oxidative damage through any normal processes that occur within the body. The second thing Vitamin E can be used for in a dog food diet is as a natural preservative. There are actually multiple types of Vitamin E, that are all called tocopherols. The Alpha Tocopherol is the one that actually works within the dog's body, and the others help protect the food from oxidative damage. Most specifically, Vitamin E helps prevent the fats in a home made dog food diet from going bad. NomNomNow fresh dog food never uses artificial preservatives. We use entirely natural and healthy, restaurant-quality ingredients to make sure that your dog receives the nutrition they deserve. This includes our balanced NomNomNutrient Mix, made of essential vitamins and minerals like Vitamin E, plus healthy fats like fish oils that deliver Omega-3s and promote a healthy coat, skin, and eyes. Vitamin B and cancer: Study links more vitamin B to men more likely to get lung cancer - TomoNews

07:52
COLUMBUS, OHIO — Men who take high doses of vitamin B supplements have a higher risk for lung cancer and the association is greatest among male smokers, according to a new study. The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, found male smokers taking the highest levels of vitamin B6 — around 11 times the recommended daily amount — had a 30 percent higher chance of getting lung cancer. Male smokers taking the highest levels of vitamin B12 — around 23 times the recommended daily amount — showed a 40 percent higher chance of getting lung cancer. Around 77,000 men and women from Washington state, aged 50 to 76, took part in the study over 10-year periods. The study found no increased risk of lung cancer in women, or with vitamin B9, also known as folate[c]. The researchers, from Ohio State University and the National Taiwan University, said most Americans get enough vitamin B in their diets, so there was no need to take supplements, the Independent reported. The researchers also said there was no need to take high doses of vitamin B, and the best way to prevent lung cancer was to quit smoking. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. How to Give a Dog an Injection At Home (The Easy Way)

08:05
It's likely that you'll need to know how to give a dog an injection at some time or another. There are many reasons why, so it's a skill that you better learn. In this video, I'm showing you how to give your dog an injection at home without any hassle. This is a simple and easy way to give your dog a shot without traumatizing him. Read the full written instructions here: http://topdogtips.com/how-to-give-a-dog-an-injection It's cheaper to learn how to give your dog a subcutaneous (under the skin) injection than it is to bring him to the vet every time he needs one. "Let your dog get used to the syringe. Fill it with a dose of the medication or vaccine and let him sniff it. Be careful not to let him poke himself with the needle. You may not be able to smell the liquid, but you better believe your dog can! Allowing him some time to get used to the odor will remove one more variable from the equation." Puppy's first peanut butter treat

02:01
She also likes to steal her friends treats https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk0abLyMcPc I am getting a fair bit of flack all over for giving my dog peanut butter. It seems many people read the click bait worthy headlines about peanut butter being unsafe without actually reading the articles. Xylitol is bad for dogs. Xylitol is in almost no peanut butters (five specific ones IN THE WORLD have been found with it so far). Xylitol is not in THIS peanut butter. Some good reading on peanut butter and dogs: "1. Peanut butter. A favorite treat of many canines. Not only is it a good source of protein, but it also contains heart healthy fats, vitamin B, niacin, and vitamin E. Stuff peanut butter into a Kong to keep your dog busy for hours. Choose raw, unsalted peanut butter." https://www.cesarsway.com/dog-care/nutrition/dog-approved-people-food "Peanut butter can help your dog’s body to operate with a high level of efficiency. It contains a balanced level of protein and carbohydrates including healthy fats, which pumps up the dog’s system with a boost of energy and stamina. Active dogs just love it. It’s great for humans and dogs alike. Take advantage of it’s omega fatty acid. Yes, this is found in peanut butter and it promotes health while reducing bad cholesterol in dogs." http://canigivemydog.com/peanut-butter "Peanut butter can be added to your regular dog food as a food supplement, because it contains Vitamin E (as mentioned above) and vitamin H (Biotin, another B vitamin). Vitamin H helps a lot in keeping your dog’s coat shiny, healthy and also helps your dog’s skin to stay healthy, just as it does in humans. It can also help in strengthening of the nails. On the other hand, Vitamin E can help your dog’s immune system, to help him fight against diseases, illnesses and sickness. As you can see, peanut butter actually has many good nutritional effects for your canine friend." http://www.dogingtonpost.com/peanut-butter-for-dogs-safe/ To use this video in a commercial player or in a broadcast please contact licensing@storyful.com

After all, we’re all about making our furry sidekicks happy! Especially for the greedy guts who literally live for food (talking to your, Harls my boy). But more than that, we want them to be healthy, too! Every ingredient used in this recipe has been chosen consciously and carefully for a dog’s well-being. Which is why I’m happy to list the benefits below for your viewing! NOTE: If your dog is a stranger to any of these ingredients, introduce them slowly to your dog’s diet. This is often the case with most food – even when changing from one commercial kibble to another. Also, please give your doggy the cupcake’s sparingly! No-in-one-go is all I’m saying. ************************* THE INGREDIENT DEETS: ➜ FLOUR Although flour isn’t a natural food for your dog, unless your dog has a known sensitivity to flour, it is a source of carbohydrates which are a main source of energy and essential for the metabolism of nutrients. But which flour to use? Whole grains or non-grains are ideal. Whole grains because “whole grain” literally means “the whole grain”… ergo, you get all the original nutrients from the grain. In this recipe I used plain wholemeal flour for the added nutrients over white flour. One word of warning though, according to a study on wheat impact on doggy poop, it has been advised to STAY AWAY from Barley if your dog lives indoors – we’re talking about possibly inducing “the runs” here, people. And “the runs” means dehydration :( There are also some non-grain option out there. Check out my sources for more info: ➜ EGG Full of nutrients and protein, eggs are great for your dog! I’m talking one or two a week (I give Harley one boiled egg a week). But of course, given the egg in this recipe, he can go without this week! I don’t think he’ll mind the cupcake substitute ;) ➜ LIVER PATE Liver offers high nutritional value – it is another great source of protein, vitamin A, and do-gooder fatty acids! One word of warning though, pay attention to the amount of Vitamin A you are giving your dog in your selection of ingredients. Too much vitamin A can have bad effects, such as digestive issues. And like with everything, you are what you eat! So be conscious of the portion sizes you give, as well. ➜ BABY CARROTS Low calorie and high in fiber, vitamin A, and potassium! Don’t go nuts, though. Remember, everything in moderation! ➜ PEANUT BUTTER This is an excellent source of protein for your pup! It is also good for their big, lovable heart! With healthy fats, vitamin B, vitamin E, along with something I can’t pronounce… Niacin? Frankly, sounds made up. Make sure you purchase raw and unsalted peanut butter. And NO “lite” or “sugar free” options – these are toxic to your dogs as they contain artificial sweeteners. Baaaad stuff! ➜ VEGETABLE OIL Great for your dog’s shiny coat! And flavoursome, too. You can also use olive oil for its added benefits. ➜ GREEK YOGURT It has half the sugar and salt than regular yoghurt, and it’s an excellent option for dogs who are lactose intolerant! It is high in calcium and protein PLUS it helps to boost immunity and aid digestion. ************************* You can also follow us here! ➜ FACEBOOK : https://www.facebook.com/harleyandsteph/ ➜ INSTAGRAM : https://www.instagram.com/harleyandsteph/ ************************* SOURCES: Murray, S., Fahey, G., Merchen, N., Sunvold, G., & Reinhart, G. Dogs Health issues - check this - http://www.HowsMyPet.com The Ultimate Pet Organizer software Does Your Dog's Diet Need To Include Supplements? A healthy, balanced diet is essential for a long and happy life with your pet. How do you know if your dog's diet needs supplements? What types of supplements should you add to your dog's diet? In most cases, your dog's diet will not need to be supplemented. Assuming you feed your pet a diet formulated by a reputable dog food company, your dog's food is specially designed for a healthy balance to ensure excellent health for your pet. Occasionally, some low-quality dog foods will increase the need for extra supplementation. Your vet may recommend that you give your dog's diet a little boost. Consider supplementing your dog's diet with a hard boiled egg a couple of days per week. This simple step will add extra amounts of vitamins A and D to your dog's diet. Such vitamins help to maintain good bone structure and healthy eyes. If you have decided to personalize your dog's diet by customizing a raw diet, cooking at home for your pet, or just want to make sure your dog's diet is at its best, you will want to know about the benefits of other supplements. Your dog's diet can be supplemented with whole grains, green vegetables, and nuts. These items will increase your dog's intake of vitamin B. Other ways to supplement your dog's diet to increase the amount of vitamin B include beans, yeast, and liver. Your dog needs vitamin B in a healthy, balanced diet to support healthy skin and muscles and ensure the dogs health. To ward off immune system deficiencies, supplement your dog's diet with additional vitamin E. Good sources of vitamin E can be found in wheat germ, bran, and vegetable oil. Vitamin K can be another important nutrient in your dog's diet. Liver, fish, leafy greens, and seeds can provide vitamin K to your dog's diet. This vitamin will help to enhance your dog's blood clotting abilities. Glucosamine can be a great supplement in your dog's diet. Glucosamine has been proven to improve joint health and ward off arthritis in your pet. Supplementing your dog's diet can be risky if not done correctly. You may think you are providing your pet excellent vitamins and low calories by tossing your dog a few grapes or raisins. Some dogs have been known to die from renal failure due to consuming such fruit. Always seek advice from a professional before supplementing or changing your dog's diet in any way just to be on the safe side. Calcium supplements can be dangerous to a dogs health when used excessively in your dog's diet. Although calcium is good in moderation to form strong, healthy bones, too much calcium can create trouble. Large breed pups given too much calcium may grow large bones, but these bones lack the strength they need. Always talk to your vet about the supplements you are considering. Your vet can advise you on the appropriate amounts of each supplement to add to your dog's diet. Both you and your vet care for your pet and want what is best for your dog. My dog survived distemper.

01:36
If you're viewing this now, then you're searching for a distemper cure. Unfortunately, there is none. I searched here on youtube as well and found one that may work, but it was too expensive. What worked for my dog Lucky was force feeding him supplements and antibiotics. Instructions below: What you need: 10 cc syringe or larger Small bowl Antibiotic: Coamoxiclav twice a day for the first 2 days (IV or Capsule) Cefalexin 3 times a day, 250mg/5ml If you're wondering why the switch... the drugstore was out, so switched to Cefalexin instead. Supplement Ingredients: Soy milk or any non-dairy milk 2 grams of Vitamin B Complex 2 grams of Vitamin C 8 capsules of Herbs Plus Food Supplements 5 Tablespoons of Sugar Note: Herbs Plus contains lots of iron, protein, and calcium. You can google the ingredients: moringa, garlic, bitter gourd/ampalaya, and lemongrass. You can use any supplements with this combination, I just Herbs Plus because I had access to it and have been taking it for my own maintenance for years now. I used the sugar to make the taste more bearable, and apparently the sugar helps with trying to regain his appetite. (I tasted it, and it was still awful. You've been warned.) Instructions: 1. Crush the vitamin tablets however you choose. I put the tabs in a folded bond paper and rolled a glass bottle over it. Place contents in a bowl. 2. Open the Herbs Plus capsules and empty in the same bowl along with the crushed tablets. 3. Pour in just enough soy milk to create a creamy texture, but more on the watery side. 4. Throw out the needle properly and suck in a full dose of the concoction. Make sure not to inject straight to your dog's throat or else it may go to his lungs. Inject somewhere on the side. 5. Do this 3 times a day until he gets better, then you can just start cutting the dose and getting conventional vet approved vitamins. But just in case, I haven't stopped giving him my concoction. I'll probably taper down after 6 months. That's pretty much it. Just keep doing this. And good luck trying not to cry while doing this as your dog deteriorates. Lucky was literally unresponsive and heaving loudly at the 3rd day of finding out he had distemper. We absolutely thought he was a goner. We never gave up, and you shouldn't as well. In the Philippines, you can go to Healthy Options or GNC to get the vitamins or even the mall. Kirkland brand is fine. Herbs Plus is only available in Leyte province and you can order from the new Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/herbismanufacturing Good luck!

The study, published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, found male smokers taking the highest levels of vitamin B6 around 11 times the recommended daily amount had a 30 percent higher chance of getting lung cancer. Male smokers taking the highest levels of vitamin B12 around 23 times the recommended daily amount showed a 40 percent higher chance of getting lung cancer. How to Find The Best Dog Multivitamin

01:58
Visit http://www.bestdogsupplementreviews.com/multivitamin.html Do you take a day-to-day multivitamin? You may question if your pet dog can take advantage of one also. Some estimations say that around one third of pets get supplements. Much like in human beings, vitamins aid a dog's body to operate correctly, managing every little thing from digestion to muscle growth. They're critical to preserving your pet dog's wellness, and a shortage of a specific vitamin could cause health issue, which could sometimes have significant and lasting results. Related: Understanding your dog's nutritional requirements Yet right here's the good news: most dogs are probably getting exactly what they require from their dog food. Many pet dog food makers who use first class active ingredients create their food to be well-balanced, giving the correct amount of exactly what your pet requires. Supplementing can really be damaging. Why? Due to the fact that while not having enough of a vitamin can be a concern, having way too much of a vitamin could cause problems, too. There are 2 main sorts of vitamins: water soluble and also fat soluble. Excess water soluble vitamins, such as Vitamin C as well as Vitamin B1, are merely gotten rid of in peeing, so they commonly do not trigger resilient health issues. However fat soluble vitamins are saved in the liver and also cellulite, so way too much of these can trigger severe issues. Pets, particularly large-breed pups, could endure from skeletal issues due to also much calcium. An excess of vitamin A can cause dehydration, joint pain, or damages to capillary. And also high levels of vitamin D can cause a loss of appetite, bone damages, as well as muscular tissue atrophy. Skin & Coat DOG supplement *water dish* (NOT for dalmatians)

01:56
This is the easy mix up we do for supplementing our dogs. This supplement is targeting their skin/coats specifically since it contains brewers yeast in it. (Brewer’s yeast contains chromium, selenium, protein, and a number of B-complex vitamins). Added bonus is it helps keep fleas and ticks away as well! :) This is NOT to be used with Dalmatians OR other dogs that are known storm dormers!!

There are two reasons for this. First, the liver of the cat has a limited ability to make taurine, as the rate-limiting enzymes required for converting methionine and cysteine to taurine are only minimally active in the feline liver. Second, cats lose taurine in the secretion of bile acids (whereas other mammals also use glycine in the conjugation and secretion of bile acids, freeing up taurine for other uses). Found in the nervous system (including the retina) and muscles (especially the heart), taurine is one of the most abundant amino acids in the body (and is the most abundant free amino acid in the heart). It is thought to help regulate heartbeat, maintain cell membranes, and affect the release of neurotransmitters in the brain. Taurine also protects the heart from calcium overload and assists in calcium uptake by the heart cells during periods of hypoxia (reduced oxygen levels). As mentioned above, dogs do not have a dietary requirement for taurine, since they can make it out of vitamin B and the amino acids methionine and cysteine. Cats cannot do this; as true carnivores, they require dietary taurine. http://www.petcarenaturally.com/book_health_bible.php Essential, or indispensable amino acids are a group of amino acids that cannot be synthesized in the body and are thus required to be taken in through diet. This is a well known nutritional defect that is known to affect the health of cats when they are lacking taurine in their diet, but does not affect dogs in the same way, as dogs are able to synthesize taurine in their bodies. This is why taurine is usually not added to dog foods but is added to cat foods.
