How To Apply Eye Ointment | Uses Of Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment For Eyes
Before we get into how to administer eye ointment, let's first talk about how to apply eye drops in general. Begin by tilting your head back while standing, sitting, or lying down (whichever is most comfortable for you). Use your index finger of the hand not holding the eye drop bottle and gently pull down on the skin of the lower eyelid. Look up, and apply one drop to the small pocket you've made. Close your eyes and let the drop absorb before repeating on the other side. Applying eye drops is a bit easier than ointment, so let's dive into that next. Eye ointment will come in a very small tube, and you'll want to hold that tube in your dominant hand. Using the same technique as above, make a small pocket in your lower eyelid by pulling your eyelid down with your opposite hand. For ointments, it is easiest to look in a mirror as you squeeze the tube and apply a small strip (usually 1/16") into the pocket you've made. Close your eyes, moving your eyes around to disperse the ointment across your eye. Then, repeat on the other side if needed! Do take note that ointments will blur your vision for some time, so know that this is a very common side effect. Click here to learn more: https://eyelovethesun.com/pages/how-to-apply-eye-ointment

Tests on dogs in hope of prolonging human lifespan
The quest for immortality is one of man's eternal goals. Short of that, a team of scientists in the US are planning tests on pet dogs to see whether a drug commonly in organ transplants could help extend their lifespan. Developed as an anti-rejection drug for patients who have just undergone kidney transplants, rapamycin has recently been shown to extend the lives of mice by more than 10%. State forces Erythromycin to be put in eyes of newborn babies
Erlanger has a new policy requiring nurses to squeeze Erythromycin into the eyes of every newborn baby. The ointment is usually applied after birth to protect against blindness if the mother has an STD. Doctors say there are no side effects and Georgia and Tennessee law have required it for decades. But some parents refuse because they don’t have STDs and they say it’s unnatural. Now Erlanger says there will be no exceptions, even if it means calling security. The hospital says the change protects doctors and nurses from lawsuits and penalties. But Senator Bo Watson says he’s open to seeing if the law needs to be updated.

Advice for Treating Common Motility Disorders
What are some common motility disorders in veterinary patients? Albert Jergens, DVM, MS, PhD, DACVIM (SAIM), professor at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, explains what practitioners need to know. "Probably the most common motility disturbance that we all appreciate is megaesophagus or esophageal abnormalities with regards to motility disturbances and the small and large intestine. I think we should assume that they occur with any type of inflammation or infiltrative disease, so things like inflammatory bowel disease, masses, infiltrating tumors like lymphoma adenocarcinoma, even systemic mycoses like histoplasmosis, again infiltrating to the GI tract. I think we should assume that with that degree of inflammation in host response, that motility disturbances occur. The problem that we have is documenting that. And so we don't currently have good tools for assessing motility. The gold standard would be nuclear scintigraphy, but that's not practical in a clinical situation. So, just consider a promotility therapy if your primary therapy isn't working. For instance, say you have a dog with inflammatory bowel disease involving the small intestine. Maybe that animal is not responding quite as robustly to your anti-inflammatory therapy, perhaps it's worth the trial in a promotility agent. Also remember that promotility drugs work very specifically. So, we have few excellent promotility drugs that work from the stomach all the way down to the colon. Drugs such as metoclopramide may only work in the stomach, we have other prokinetic agents that work in the small intestine-ranitidine, erythromycin, cisapride would be one. The colon we don't have much out there at all. Probably your best choice would be cisapride." View related videos and articles on our website: http://www.AmericanVeterinarian.com.

5 Antibiotics Declared Safe At All Stages of Pregnancy.... ►►https://youtu.be/fCziSMPMjdM Once that plus sign appears on your pregnancy test, you know your body is in for a lot of changes. But what you probably didn't know is that those changes can mean more infections -- and more antibiotics. The most recent National Birth Defects Prevention Study of more than 13,000 pregnant women found that about 30 percent of women undergo at least one course of antibiotic treatment between the three months prior to conception and the end of their pregnancies, most commonly during the fourth month of pregnancy. Select antibiotic use has the potential to cause congenital abnormalities in newborns. So do you take the antibiotic and get better, or skip it and risk birth defects? Don't worry -- according to the study, it's not that black-and-white and there are safe options available. Here, we provide tips on keeping both you and your baby healthy.

Top 5 Oral Antibiotics for Acne Treatment. Are they safe and effective ?
http://www.cysticacnehelp.com/antibiotics-for-acne/ Antibiotics are the most commonly used method for treating acne. There are different antibiotics used to treat acne. They all work in more or less the same way. Acne antibiotics can either be used orally or applied on the skin. Although they can help reduce and clear acne breakouts, these antibiotics have their associated side effect. Oral antibiotics for acne There are different types of oral antibiotics prescribed for the treatment of acne. The most common of these include the following. Tetracycline is one of the commonly prescribed acne treatments. For effectiveness, the patient has to take the medication on an empty stomach. Taking the medication with meals reduces its effectiveness. It has a derivative, minocycline which is commonly prescribed for treatment of pustular acne. Doxycycline is an acne treatment antibiotic commonly prescribed for patients whose acne conditions don't respond to treatment with tetracycline or minocycline. It should be taken with food. Two other antibiotics for acne: Erythromycin and Clindamycin Possible side effects of oral antibiotics for acne Nausea and vomiting Candida vaginal yeast infection in women Interaction with birth control pills lessening their effectiveness Increased skin sensitivity to the sun Allergic reactions to the medication Many acne sufferers have found the antibiotics to be quite effective in combating acne breakouts. However, effectiveness comes down to the type of antibiotics for acne used and the individual's condition. A study showed that the acne causing bacteria is becoming resistant to some of the antibiotics making them less effective for treatment. Finding the most effective antibiotics for acne to treat your breakouts can be a costly affair. The problem is that not all antibiotics available guarantee great results. If you want effective acne treatment methods which guarantee results despite your acne condition, I have compiled a short report detailing 5 easy steps to get rid of acne. The five steps involved in the report don't have any side effects and are cost effective. How To Use Eye Ointment | How To Apply Ointment To The Eyes | How To Administer An Eye Ointment
How To Use Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment Properly | How To Apply Ointment To The Eyes Instructions | How To Administer An Eye Ointment Hey guys! This weeks video is all about how to use an eye ointments, I get asked how to use them by patients, probably on a daily basis when I'm in the pharmacy. Many patients find eye ointments tricky to use, it's thick and tends to curl like a little snake when it comes out of the tube. Don't be alarmed that your eye ointment doesn't look like mine in the video, the technique used is correct for all eye ointments. So here's my short guide, learn to use an eye ointment like a pro in just 2 minutes! As always please make sure to like, share and tag friends who use eye ointments or drops as they may learn something new. USING AN EYE OINTMENT 1- Wash your hands well before you use the eye ointment. 2- Sit or stand in front of a mirror. 3- Remove the cap from the tube. 4- Tilt your head back a little and pull the lower lid of your eye out to form a pocket. 5- Hold the tube upside down near to your eye. 6- Apply enough pressure to the tube to release a thin line of ointment along the inside of the lower eyelid. Try not to touch your eye as you do this. 7- Give the tube a little twist at the end to cut the ointment from the tube. 8- Close your eye for 30 seconds to 1 minute then blink a few times to spread the ointment around the inside of your eye. 9- Your vision may become a little blurred after you use an eye ointment. If you blink several times after you apply your eye ointment your vision should clear. Try not to rub your eyes. 10- Repeat the process in your other eye if directed by your healthcare professional. 11- When you have finished, remember to replace the cap on the tube in order to prevent the ointment from becoming contaminated. Try not to touch the top of the tube. SOME POINTS ABOUT EYE OINTMENTS Eye ointments are free from germs (sterile) before the bottle top is opened. Once it is opened: •Keep the tube closed in a cool, dark place (unless otherwise advised). • Do not let the top of the tube touch your eye, fingers, or any other surface. This is to keep it free from germs such as bacteria. • Do not let anyone else use your eye ointment and do not use anyone else's eye ointment yourself. • Throw out the tube (and get a new one if required) after the recommended time. This is often four weeks after first opening the tube - always check information leaflet for exact time frame. • Never keep opened tubes to use later. There is a risk that the ointment may become infected if it is kept and used for longer than advised. You may wish to write the date that you opened the tube on the label so you will know when it is time to throw it out. • Do not wear contact lenses whilst using eye ointments unless otherwise advised. (Some drugs and preservatives in eye ointments can accumulate in soft contact lenses and may cause harm.) USING OTHER EYE OINTMENTS OR DROPS If you need to use two eye ointments, you should apply one of the eye ointments as per the instructions above; then, wait about half an hour before you apply the second eye ointment. This is in order to allow enough time for the first eye ointment to be absorbed. If you have been prescribed an eye drop as well as an eye ointment you should normally apply the eye drop first. Wait five minutes and then apply your eye ointment Want to see more videos about everything health and pharmacy? Let me know in the comments below. How to treat Cherry Eye in dogs
A few months ago my dog got a thing that I found out from google searching was called "Cherry Eye". At first all that I could find was countless people talking about having their dogs operated on. Then one lady said that a gentle massage with lubricate could fix this. So I tried it and it worked within seconds! Today this happened again so I thought i'd film the easy process incase anyone else came across this problem with a dog. I'm not sure if eventually she will need an operation or not but this seems to work so easily that we will play it by ear. Anyway, the lubricated eye drops I used were Refresh which have no preservatives and come in hand single dose little tubes. Good because with other eye drops after opening you have to throw them after 28 days.

Applying eye ointment to a cat's eye. Also valid for dogs and rabbits.
Treating conjunctivitis in a dog, cat or rabbit means giving eye ointment. It's not easy but everyone can learn. TRANSCRIPT: So putting eye medication into an eye. It's quite difficult. The best way to do it is not to put it directly on the eye but put it into a fold by pulling the lower eyelid down. Now this eye here we can pull the fold down but the best way is to put one finger above the eye to tension the upper eyelid a bit and then pull down and you make that nice little, you probably see that little red fold there, and holding the nozzle sideways we're going to squirt a blob across ways into that fold. So finger on the top, thumb pull down the fold until it rolls out and then blob like that into that fold, not directly on the eye. And then you rub the lower eyelid so it goes across the surface. He's been very good about that And he's done. The trick also is notice I used the nozzle sideways so I didn't poke directly on the eye if he jumps forward it won't hurt him if it's held sideways, but remember the trick: Perhaps I can't do it again. I think he's a bit tired of it now. Pull up the upper eyelid Roll down the lower eyelid and put it on that fold you just created there. Thank you.

Antibiotics during Pregnancy and Risk of Spontaneous Abortion
Use of certain antibiotics early in pregnancy is associated with an increased risk for spontaneous abortion, the authors of a new study report. Macrolides (except erythromycin), quinolones, tetracyclines, sulfonamides, and metronidazole all were associated with a greater risk, compared with penicillins, cephalosporins, or no antibiotic exposure at all. After adjustment for possible confounding factors, the increased risk associated with a particular antibiotic, compared with no antibiotics, was shown. No increased risk was associated with nitrofurantoin, erythromycin, penicillins, or cephalosporins. The women who miscarried were more likely to be older, to be living alone and to have multiple health issues and infections, all of which were taken into account when calculating the increased risk for women taking antibiotics. Despite the care taken with the calculations, researchers noted that the infections themselves could contribute to pregnancy loss and therefore explain some of the increased risk.

Cherry Eye in a Dog
Cherry eye occurs in cockers, bulldogs, and other "bug eyed" purebred dogs. This swelling of the tear gland can look really bad, but in reality is not critical. You can use Benadryl, aspirin, and a warm compress to help soothe the eye and shrink the swelling. If the swelling does not go down, you should get the eye checked out by a vet. They may prescribe an eye ointment with steroid and antibiotics. Surgery may be needed if the swelling persists.

3 Powerful Home Remedies for Tonsillitis That Work Fast!
When you have a sore throat it might not be because you’re having sinus issues or battling allergies. The same is true with halitosis. The cause of bad breath isn’t always due to something that you might have eaten. Both of these symptoms could be caused by a little-known but aggravating problem: tonsil stones. Also known as tonsilloliths, these stones form when debris gets trapped in the small pockets on either side of the throat. Over time, this debris hardens and becomes calcified. People who have chronic infections or inflammation in their tonsils are more susceptible to tonsil stones. In rare cases, they become quite large and painful, but in most cases they never reach this stage and can be removed with natural remedies. Before we look into some of these solutions, keep in mind that prevention is always the best medicine. Therefore, to ensure that your tonsils stay clear of debris make sure that you have a diet rich in probiotics. This will provide your body with good bacteria and the defenses necessary to fight off the harmful bacteria, that allow these deposits to form. Proper hygiene, including gargling and drinking lots of water, helps keep the throat area properly flushed, and free from the particles that get lodged and eventually form the tonsil stones. It’s always recommended to brush your teeth two to three times a day which also kills harmful bacteria. With these measures, if you’re unsuccessful in preventing tonsil stones, and begin noticing an acute pain in your ear, or if you have difficulty swallowing accompanied by unusually bad breath, try some of these natural remedies to remove these small white stones in your throat. 1. Utensils 2. Gargling 3. Eating certain foods Remember to consult a medical professional if your symptoms worsen, or if none of these natural cures solve the problem. ---------------------------------------- ▶ Subscribe to the channel - https://goo.gl/3tB19z ▶ Natural Cures en español - https://goo.gl/QcoLf2 ▶ नेचर क्योर्स - Natural Cures (Hindi) - https://goo.gl/okYDFd ▶ Mindfully Yours - https://goo.gl/qXiBjy Disclaimer: The materials and the information contained on Natural Cures channel are provided for general and educational purposes only and do not constitute any legal, medical or other professional advice on any subject matter. These videos are designed to be an accurate source of practical information for parents and carers giving medicines at home to their child. The videos were filmed at Edge Hill University's 'Better at Home' suite.

We Are Losing Our Fish Medications | Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria
We Are Losing Our Fish Medications | Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria As of December 1st we will no longer be able to access antibiotics for fish keeping purposes by walking into the pet stores or even ordering online. The only way we will have access to them is by going into a veterinarian for a prescription. Finding a vet that deals with aquatic pets in Canada is going to be a challenge. It is very unlikely that your local small vet handles fish related diseases, you may have to road trip it to a larger city and that may be 5 or 6 hours away. Home visits would be very costly as well. Many of us are not willing or able to afford a grand or more on a fish that might or might not make it. Most people don't have that kind of expendable income. Erythromycin and Neomycin are the big ones here or at least the ones we are mostly familiar with. We are obviously familiar with Penicillin but we dont use it for fishkeeping. These 2 are in a few of our medications. Erythromycin packs from api, neoplex and kanaplex from Seachem just to name a few. So why is this happening why are we loosing antibiotics? This is largely due to antibiotic overuse from all types of different industries and applications. Antibiotic are used to treat bacterial infections in humans and animals. The problem is they are being used hastily, before we are certain they will work or for issues that are resolvable on their own. As of 2015, it was reported that over 700,000 people per year died worldwide due to infections that could not be treated with antibiotics. Some bacteria have become so resistant that out of all of the treatments we have available maybe one or two might work, if any at all. This is alarming and is something that is only going to get worse in the future. Ted talk by Maryn McKenna Another issue with the overuse of antibiotics is that it produces an abundance of waste. When antibiotics are taken or used, they are also excreted back into our environment through human, animal waste and runoff. Us fish keepers only make up a small portion of the antibiotics being dumped down the drain but we all play a part though. Waste from large-scale farms, aquaculture and wastewater from hospitals are the huge waste producers here. The more antibiotics drugs end up in the environment the higher the chance is that a bacteria develops a resistance. Not only that, most water treatment facilities are unable to remove these drugs from our drinking water. Even though it is only found in trace amounts, do we really want that in our tap water and tanks? So here are a few things we can do to lessen our impact as fish keepers. One thing that needs to stop is this practice of dosing antibiotics as a preventative measure. This has become really popular over the last few years and it's a practice that needs to stop. We need to treat these drugs as a last resort, not a first plan of attack. Quarantine tanks should be used as that, a place where observation and monitoring takes place. Antibiotics are not vaccines, they will not prevent future problems. By exposing bacteria to antibiotics you are giving the opportunity to the bacteria to build up a resistance. This means the fish being treated are less likely to see results from treatments of infections in the future. Another step we can take is only treating a fish ONLY when you know for sure what the disease or infection is. This may take a lot of time and research before hand, but considering the potential consequences it's essential. Throwing a cocktail at our fish is really not the best way to go about it. It is really hard on your fish, expensive and we don't know the long term effects. Ask a few people before you go out and buy or dose meds if you are unsure.. One thing I have noticed is that everybody is an expert or thinks they are. Don't just get one persons advice before you start treating a tank. Ask around to a few people who seem to have a good understanding. Don't risk your fish on one so called expert. Ted talk by Maryn McKenna https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3oDpCb7VqI&t=276s

What Is a "Flesh-Eating" MRSA Bacterial Infection? Part 2
http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/ http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/ellagica.html http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/products.html What Is Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA)? MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacteria. This organism is known for causing skin infections in addition to many other types of infections. There are other designations in the scientific literature for these bacteria according to where the bacteria are acquired by patients, such as community-acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA or CMRSA), hospital-acquired or health-care-acquired MRSA (HA-MRSA or HMRSA), or epidemic MRSA (EMRSA). Statistical data suggest that as many as 19,000 people per year die from MRSA in the U.S.; current data suggest this number has declined by about 25%-35% in recent years, in part, because of prevention practices at hospitals and home care. Although S. aureus has been causing infections (Staph infections) probably as long as the human race has existed, MRSA has a relatively short history. MRSA was first noted in 1961, about two years after the antibiotic methicillin was initially used to treat S. aureus and other infectious bacteria. The resistance to methicillin was due to a penicillin-binding protein coded for by a mobile genetic element termed the methicillin-resistant gene (mecA). In recent years, the gene has continued to evolve so that many MRSA strains are currently resistant to several different antibiotics such as penicillin, oxacillin, and amoxicillin (Amoxil, Dispermox, Trimox). HA-MRSA are often also resistant to tetracycline (Sumycin), erythromycin (E-Mycin, Eryc, Ery-Tab, PCE, Pediazole, Ilosone), and clindamycin (Cleocin). http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/blog/ http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/Liver-GallBladder-Chemical-Detoxification.html
