Angioedema. Swollen face, swollen lips. Never had this before.
Put this video up hoping it will help others to become aware what the symptoms of angioedema are and that it could happen to anyone. As we age our bodies break down and medications which someone may have taken for years without a problem, could be a problem later on down the road. I was really frightened and had no idea what was causing this to happen. I wore a mask on my way to the hospital so as not to have others stare at my swelling. So this is happening right now, March 1, 2012. Great way to start the month. Woke up at 4 am with my left bottom corner lip a little swollen, took a Claritin. Then woke up again with intense swelling and took a bendryl. Then finally called the doctor and met with him at noon because the swelling just grew more, I didn't even think it was possible. The doctor says my swelling is called angioedema and my body is reacting to an ACE inhibitor medication. The ACE inhibitor is found in drugs used to control high blood pressure, which I take Lysinopril. I was then injected with Kenalog 40mg, which is a type of steroid to counteract with the histamine in my body. I was also injected with Dephendramine 25mg, which is a type of Benadryl. He injected a small dosage of Dephendramine since I drove myself to the hospital. Next steps are I am to take Benadryl every 4-6 hours. If the swelling doesn't go down by tomorrow, doctor says I have to go to ER and have large amounts of a different type of steroid put into me along with other meds. As of right now the swelling is considered severe. So far swelling has not gone down. I told the doctor it is really odd I am having this reaction since I have had this medication for 6 years, I don't take it everyday, yet I never have reacted like this before. He said as we age our bodies break down and right now my body cannot handle the medication. Going back to sleep and praying it will go down. I'm thinking the swelling should decrease once the lysinopril leaves my body. UPDATE as of March 4, 2012. I have healed and it took 4 days to heal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow me on: http://www.etsy.com/people/LuckyYogi Twitter @ http://twitter.com/#!/TheLuckyYogi Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/TheLuckyYogi YouTube @ http://www.youtube.com/user/LuckyYogi

It expands the measure of liquid spilling through the dividers of the veins into tissues. The expansion in bradykinin is regularly managed by another protein. This protein is called C1 esterase inhibitor. Individuals with HAE don't have enough C1 esterase inhibitor to control this procedure. Extreme liquid at that point aggregates in the body's tissues. Can white discharge after emergency pill mean Pregnancy? -Dr. Teena S Thomas
White discharge is not specific for any condition for that matter and hence for that reason the presence of white discharge post an emergency pill, doesn’t signify anything at all. It can be the pre period discharge or it can be a pregnancy related discharge, it can be an infectious discharge or a hormonal discharge. So it doesn’t signify anything and the second thing is that the emergency contraceptive pill should be strictly taken as an emergency. It is not a daily pill. So that has to be kept in mind. So it is very important for me to specify that when I answer this question. Second part of the question was how fast you expect a period after some emergency contraceptive pill. Post emergency contraceptive pill, we expect maximum of 14 to 15 days, that is around 2 weeks where they expect the period to have come. So if there has been no period after 2 weeks, to 15 -20 days of emergency contraceptive pill to go ahead with the urine pregnancy test.

Natural Remedies for Having Healthy Kids w/ Dr. Jolene Brighten
9:53 Postpartum Depression: Although almost 20% of women experience postpartum depression, historically, it has been seen as something of which to be ashamed. Fathers experience the same bonding mechanism with infants and they too can experience postpartum depression. 11:45 Possible Adaptive Benefit of Postpartum Cognitive Changes: It is often called Mommy Brain. In the last trimester, a mother’s brain shrinks maybe as much as 8%. Mom’s brain returns to normal size about 6 months after delivery. Dr. Brighten says that it is a very smart thing for the body to do. With this cognitive change, mom becomes extremely focused on baby. In primal days, mom needed to be hyper-focused and have a heightened stress response, to protect baby from predators and other threats. Today, we are still primal creatures. A new mother’s daily life of work, errands and a home lacking the support of a large extended family, no longer resembles the life for which she was designed. We live in an artificial, stress filled environment. Today’s stress raises havoc with cortisol levels, impacting neurotransmitters, causing a rise in inflammation. For a new mother, this has even more impact. 16:07 Postpartum Hyper-Sensitivity: In the postpartum period, the amygdala, a primal portion of the brain which houses fight/flight responses, enlarges. In addition, a woman’s hormones, and thus their emotions, fluctuate wildly. It is similar to the hormonal effects of instant menopause. 17:53 Maybe It Doesn’t Need Fixing: Often, the best course of action is to take no action, to be supportive and let it run its course. Maybe postpartum emotions need to run and we need to get out of the way. Let moms know that it is normal and there is nothing wrong with them. 19:47 Postpartum Planning: Dr. Brighten works with patients while they are still pregnant, using information from their history, family history, and their mother’s birthing experience. She gives them a plan for the first 6 weeks postpartum. Much of it is about body care, rest and nutrition. After 3 to 6 weeks moms return and Dr. Brighten runs labs to track, among other things, anemia and thyroid symptoms. 22:31 Emotions are Like the Rooms of Your House: You should be able to in and out of the rooms of your house with ease. If you get stuck in one of those rooms, that is a problem. Having a variety of emotions is normal. Being stuck in any one of them, may be time to look at intervention. 24:08 The Post-Baby Body: Nearly all women have body image issues. It is challenging to remember that she grew a human being inside her. That is extraordinary, and it comes with changes to the body. The baby bump was cute. Postpartum fat is not. Women feel out of proportion. Nature says that women need these fat reserves for feeding baby during a potential famine. A woman’s caloric need for breastfeeding increases by 500 to 700 calories per day. Most women find themselves starving and unable to get enough energy. Not every woman loses weight from breastfeeding. Everyone’s body is different. 26:01 You Really Need to Rest! Dr. Brighten cautions her patients to rest. Postpartum, the uterus is still heavy and the hormone relaxin is still present. Relaxin is a hormone that causes ligaments and tendons to relax and spread so the infant can pass through the birth canal. These ligaments also hold the uterus. If there is too much movement and pressure, uterine prolapse can begin. It may not become a problem for decades, so there is no immediate indicator that you need to sit down and rest. Abdominal training, without adequate rest and healing can cause damage to the abdominal muscles. When training can resume, depends on mom’s birthing experience. 27:51 Healing Benefits of Walking: The cross body action of walking helps to integrate and increase the communication between the right and left lobes of the brain. That and getting outside, breathing fresh air and being in nature, all help with stress reduction. 28:11 Losing Baby Weight: Dr. Brighten says that we should focus less on how a mother’s body looks and focus on what her body has done and is doing. The advice is that women should not try to lose weight or start a rigorous exercise program until one year postpartum.

Do Diet Pills Really Kill People?
http://tipshowtoloseweight.info/venussystem/ Diet pills marketers will promise you anything and everything if you just buy one bottle. You can lose 3 pounds a day or maybe 20 or even 30 pounds a week. But can they deliver what they promise? And is it safe? Most prescription diet pills suppress the appetite, which causes you to consume fewer calories. On the surface, this seems like the ultimate solution for losing weight. However, as you reduce your caloric intake, your metabolism also slows down. As your metabolism slows down, you lose less and less weight. This is why it is common for people to lose only a certain amount of weight while taking diet pills alone. As fat blockers like Orlistat (Xenical) remove excess fats via the intestines, they may cause a wide range of unwanted symptoms. One of the dangers of diet pills that inhibit the absorption of fats is the problem of gastrointestinal side effects, such as oily spotting, flatus with discharge, fecal urgency, fatty/oily stool, oily evacuation, increased defecation, and fecal incontinence. Other gastrointestinal diet pill side effects may include: abdominal pain, nausea, infectious diarrhea, and rectal pain. Diet pills that inhibit the absorption of fats can also cause a deficiency in vitamins A, D, E, K, and Beta-carotenes. Also, rare side effects have been hypersensitivity with symptoms of pruritus, rash, urticaria, angioedema, and anaphylaxis. Sounds bad? You bet it does. Sibutramine (Meridia) and other similar appetite suppressants stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, which can raise blood pressure

While most people will develop urticaria at least once in their lifetime, it usually will go away in a day's time, and it will not be considered severe. When it persists it develops into Chronic Urticaria which can be caused by more than one factor, not mostly allergies as most people think. Here are the 5 most popular causes of chronic urticaria: 1. Idiopathic Causes What this means is that the exact causes of the condition are unknown and generally when dealing with chronic urticaria the causes are idiopathic and thus undetermined, this "cause" being at the top of the list. 2. Medicine/Drugs The 2nd most encountered cause of this condition is manmade drugs which can be anything from antibiotics, aspirin and different vaccines to contraceptive or diet pills. Also, if chronic urticaria patents are also users of cocaine or inject themselves with heroin they might very well develop a condition known as bronchospasm which is a condition that causes difficult breathing which can range from mild to severe. 3. Allergic Reactions This is probably the most known cause of chronic urticaria to the general public, as most patients believe they developed the condition because something they ate or took. They usually stop eating that certain food and when the urticaria persists they are left with no idea of its causes. It is important to note that urticaria that is indeed caused by something you ate or medicine you took will almost always manifest itself in minutes to a few hours after consuming the respective product meaning it will be fast acting. 4. Stress Believe it or not this is another common cause of chronic urticaria. Stress from work, home or school can definitely cause acute or chronic hives, but it is not only limited to mental stress, as the same goes with physical stress. If your body is extremely solicited on a regular basis you may very well develop the condition. 5. Metabolic Diseases Liver or kidney disease can also cause this condition, along with a high or low thyroid function but also autoimmune diseases (the condition in which the immune system attacks the skin). These are the five most common causes for urticaria. If you are interested in finding information regarding curing this condition by using natural proven methods, follow the link below.
