Lung cancer, also known as carcinoma of the lung or pulmonary carcinoma, is a malignant lung tumor characterized by uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung. If left untreated, this growth can spread beyond the lung by process of metastasis into nearby tissue or other parts of the body. The vast majority (80–90%) of cases of lung cancer are due to long-term exposure to tobacco smoke. About 10–15% of cases occur in people who have never smoked. These cases are often caused by a combination of genetic factors and exposure to radon gas, asbestos, or other forms of air pollution, including second-hand smoke. Worldwide, lung cancer is the most common cancer among men in terms of both incidence and mortality, and among women has the third highest incidence, and is second after breast cancer in mortality. Learn the signs of lung cancer to catch the disease early and ensure a positive outcome. Below are some early signs of lung cancer according to healthline.com. No Warning Lung cancer may not produce any noticeable symptoms in the early stages. In approximately 40 percent of people diagnosed with lung cancer, the diagnosis is made after the disease has advanced. In one third of those diagnosed, the cancer has reached stage 3. Cough That Won’t Quit Be on alert for a new cough that lingers. While a cough associated with a cold or respiratory infection will go away in a week or two, a persistent cough that lingers can be a possible sign of lung cancer. Don’t be tempted to dismiss a stubborn cough, whether it is dry or mucus-producing, as “just a cough.” Change in a Cough Pay attention to any changes in a chronic cough, particularly if you are a smoker. If you are coughing more often, your cough has a deeper or hoarse sound, or you are coughing up blood or more mucus than usual, it’s time to make a doctor’s appointment. Breathing Changes Shortness of breath or becoming easily winded are also possible symptoms of lung cancer. This symptom can occur if lung cancer blocks or narrows an airway, or if fluid from a lung tumor builds up in the chest. Make a point of noticing when you feel winded or short of breath. If this symptom occurs after climbing the stairs to your house, bringing in groceries, or performing another task you could previously do without finding it hard to breathe, don’t ignore it. Pain in the Chest Area Lung cancer may produce pain in the chest, shoulder, or back area. This aching feeling may not be associated with coughing. Tell your doctor if you notice any type of chest pain, whether it is sharp, dull, constant, or comes and goes. You should also note whether it is confined to a specific area or is occurring throughout your chest. When lung cancer causes chest pain, the discomfort may result from enlarged lymph nodes or metastasis to the chest wall, pleura (lining around the lungs), or the ribs. Wheezing When airways become constricted, blocked, or inflamed, the lungs produce a wheezing or whistling sound when you breathe. Wheezing can be associated with multiple causes, some of which are benign and easily treatable. However, wheezing is also a lung cancer symptom, which is why it merits your doctor’s attention. If wheezing continues, don’t assume it’s asthma or allergies. Have your doctor confirm what’s causing it. Raspy, Hoarse Voice If you hear a significant change in your voice, or if someone else points out that your voice sounds deeper, hoarse, or raspier, get checked out by your doctor. Hoarseness can be caused by a simple cold, but this symptom becomes worrisome when it hangs on for more than two weeks. Hoarseness related to lung cancer can occur when the tumor affects the nerve that controls the larynx, or voice box. Drop in Weight An unexplained weight loss of 10 pounds or more may be associated with lung cancer or another type of cancer. When cancer is present, this weight drop may result from cancer cells using energy in the body. It could also result from shifts in the way the body uses food energy. Don’t write off a change in your weight if you haven’t been trying to shed pounds—it may be a clue to a change in your health. Bone Pain Lung cancer that has spread to the bones may produce pain in the back or in other areas of the body. This pain may worsen at night while resting on the back. Additionally, lung cancer is sometimes associated with shoulder, arm, or neck pain, although this is less common. Be attentive to your aches and pains, and discuss them with your doctor. Headache Headaches may be a sign that lung cancer has spread to the brain. However, not all headaches in people with lung cancer are associated with brain metastases. Sometimes, a lung tumor may create pressure on the superior vena cava, which is the large vein that moves blood from the upper body to the heart. This pressure can also trigger headaches. Talk with your doctor if your body shows these symptoms.

The 5 Kidney Symptoms You Are Most Likely to Ignore!
If a function of a particular organ in your body has problems, you will experience some health problems. For example, if kidneys fail to properly eliminate waste products from the blood, do you know what will happen to your body? Read this article and you will learn what the signs of kidney damage are, and the things you can do to improve kidneys’ function in a natural way. Pain in your lower back. If you are dealing with kidney damage and unhealthy kidneys, pain in the lower back is the most common sign. At first, you will feel pain only on the one side, but after some period the pain will be felt on both sides as well. Moreover, if you are sleeping on only one side, usually it is the side where the kidney has more issues. Also, when you wake up in the morning or in the middle of the night to go to urine, it may not come easily and your lower back hurts on one or both sides. Do not ignore these symptoms because they are early signs of kidney damage. Rashes, dryness, and itching. Rashes, itching and dryness can be caused by the wastes accumulation in the blood when the kidneys are not able to remove wastes from the bloodstream. Take this symptom very seriously because it indicates kidneys problems. Treating it with topical creams won’t solve the actual problem. Urinary function changes. When the kidneys are unable to make urine, the urinary patterns will change. This is what can happen: Foamy or bubbly urine. Getting up in the night frequently to urinate. Pale urine when urinating more often. Dark colored urine when urinating less often. Difficulty while urinating or feeling pressure while doing that. Blood in the urine. These are signs of damaged kidneys and when you notice change in color, the greater the damage to kidneys is. Swelling in different parts of the body. Kidneys are body organs that remove wastes and extra fluid from the body. Surplus fluid will accumulate if the kidneys fail to remove it from the body. This leads to swelling in the face, legs, hands, ankles, and feet. Check it with your doctor immediately if you are experiencing any swelling because it means your kidneys are even more damaged. Fatigue and weakness. Kidneys produce the hormone erythropoietin. It aids in making red blood cells that carry oxygen. Anemia occurs if red blood cells reduce in the body. Also, when the oxygen delivery to cells is reduced, fatigue and general weakness happen. Kidney damage causes. The heavy metal cadmium in most cases is the biggest thing that leads to kidney damage. Cadmium gets in the environment through the burning of oil and coal and incineration of municipal waste. This metal can be found in phosphate fertilizers that pollutes the food supply. Also, smokers directly inhale cadmium into the lungs. How to improve the function of kidneys? Diet and lifestyle can help you improve the function of your kidneys. Quit smoking and avoid products that have big amounts of cadmium. Stay hydrated and do plenty of exercises. Try to consume cranberry juice each day.

V-Gel® - Cat Sizing (J1351)
V-gel is the first true veterinary species specific supraglottic airway device. Its core technology was first proven to work in the human anesthesia and resuscitation airway management sector, specifically the 'i-gel' airway device (www.i-gel.com) which is delivering significant patient and user benefits on a global scale. Docsinnovent are innovation leaders in airway management devices. Its founders led the 'i-gel' product and manufacturing technology development program all the way to market realization. After an extensive new research and development program Docsinnovent bring the same benefits experienced in humans into the veterinary anesthesia and resuscitation sector with the first-ever species-specific veterinary supraglottic airway devices for cats and rabbits. The V-gel name is derived from 'v' for 'veterinary' and 'gel' to highlight that it uses a very soft gel-like material that contributes with anatomically shaped features to give a trauma-free high quality pressure seal around the airway and esophageal structures. V-gel is an internationally patented, radical innovation for veterinary anesthesia which delivers significant benefits. The benefits of V-gel - Anatomical matching features combined with a soft gel-like material to give a high quality pressure seal that avoids laryngeal and tracheal trauma, which means safer anesthetics and superb comfortable patient recoveries. - Fast, easy, safe and stress-free device insertions. - No post-operative coughing or gagging. - Low airway breathing resistance due to the large airway channel within the device. - High quality pressure seal restricting leakage of volatile anesthetic agents, thus improving health and safety in anesthesia and overcoming patient sensitization to smell - a common problem in rabbits. - Super soft contoured tip for a highly effective upper oesophagus seal to prevent potential aspiration of reflux fluid. - Integral gas sampling port to reduce re-breathing dead-space and making high quality monitoring easier. - Integral bit block to stop patient damaging device and occluding the airway. - Materials validated for autoclave sterilization to eliminate cross-infection.

What Causes Coughing - Brought To You By Home-Remedies.Com!!!
What Causes Coughing? There are a number of causes of coughs. They are mainly categorized into two, that is, acute and chronic coughs. If you are experiencing cough for less than three weeks, then that is acute cough. Chronic coughs are the ones that present for more than three weeks. In most cases, chronic coughs appear to be more serious than acute coughs which disappear even without going for treatments. However, not all acute coughs can disappear without treating them, only the minor ones like environmental allergies. Acute coughs are divided into infectious and non-infectious causes. Aside from that, the other category of coughs, that is, chronic cough can be categorized into environmental irritants and the conditions which are within the lungs. The following are causes of coughs, both acute and chronic. • Any environmental substance that irritates the air passages or the lungs is capable of producing a chronic cough with continued exposure. Cigarette smoke is the most common cause of chronic cough. Other cough-producing irritants include dusts, pollens, pet dander, particulate matter, industrial chemicals and pollution, cigar and pipe smoke, and low environmental humidity. • In addition to disease processes within the lung and air passages, diseases elsewhere within the chest cavity may also be responsible for chronic cough. Conditions within the chest known to cause chronic cough include cancer, unusual growth of a lymph node, and an abnormal enlargement of the aorta, the main blood vessel leaving the heart. • Within the lungs both common and uncommon conditions cause chronic cough. Common causes include asthma, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis. Less common causes of lung-induced chronic cough include cancer, sarcoidosis , diseases of the lung tissue, and congestive heart failure with chronic fluid build-up in the lungs. • The passages that connect the lungs to the external environment are known as the upper respiratory tract. Chronic sinus infections, chronic postnasal drip, diseases of the external ear, infections of the throat, and use of an inhibitor medication for high blood pressure have all been implicated in chronic cough. • An often-overlooked cause of the chronic cough is gastro esophageal reflux (GERD). GERD occurs when acid from the stomach travels up the esophagus. This abnormal condition can cause irritation of the esophagus and larynx resulting in the reflex production of a cough. An 8-year-old Pomeranian coughs and coughs at night - congestive heart failure
Wednesday, Apr 6, 2016 I asked the resident from Punggol, North Singapore why he came from a distance to Toa Payoh Vets as most pet owners simply go to the nearest vet clinic down the road. He is a retiree and a taxi driver now competing with Grab Taxi and Uber. He said that he had sent a pet owner to my Surgery some time ago and had asked the owner about Toa Payoh Vets. With a good feedback he came today. His dog had been coughing often at night (nocturnal cough) and one year ago, another vet had told him "water got into his dog's lungs" after an X-ray and so he was given medication for the dog. Recently the dog was coughing loudly at night. "Go and drink water" his wife said to the dog, but the coughing did not stop. So he consulted me. The dog had congestive cardiac failure and with heart disease medication and no strenuous exercise, will live comfortably at least 2 more years. He was happy with the explanation as it takes time and effort to explain to him what caused the coughing. Delayed treatment will lead to heart failure and death.

Dog Heart Attack - Chihuahua with congestive heart failure
YOU MAY FIND THIS VIDEO DISTURBING. This is my dog Bluey the Chihuahua. She has heart problems that started after New Years. She's 11 years old and in this video, she passes out from lack of oxygen after going up the steps by herself. Her heart valves aren't working and she's on 4 medications. She won't ever be "okay" again and I've had to make some changes to accommodate her weakened state. I created this video to show people what it looked like for Bluey's illness. This video is about reality. It's about pain. It's about the anguish I go through each time I look at her not knowing when she's going to pass on from this world. Since writing several blog posts and videos about her illness, other people with dogs have contacted me to share their stories of their dogs. I hope this video helps you understand your dog's health. http://butyoureagirl.com/7180/bluey-the-dog-is-dying-from-congestive-heart-failure/ http://butyoureagirl.com/8636/remembering-bluey-the-dog-photo-tribute/ Update: Bluey passed away April 23rd, 2011. Her heart valves became progressively worse and she passed away peacefully at home. Rest in Peace Bluey. You were a bright and shining light in my life. A great companion. Thank you for being a part of it while you were here. Love, Adria Richards

Sinusitis, also known as sinus infection or rhinosinusitis, is a very common condition where the paranasal sinuses are inflamed, causing congested nose, headache and facial pain. Paranasal sinuses are air cavities in the bones of the skull. There are four pairs of sinuses located on either side of the head. They are the maxillary, frontal, ethmoid, and sphenoid sinuses. The sinuses are lined with respiratory epithelium producing mucus. The mucus drains into the nasal cavity through small openings. Impaired sinus drainage has been associated with inflammation of sinuses. When a sinus is blocked, fluid builds up, making it a favorable environment for bacteria or viruses grow and cause infection. A typical sinusitis symptom is described as a dull pain or constant pressure commonly localized to the affected sinus. The pain may worsen when the person bends over or while lying down. Symptoms often start on one side of the head and spread to the other side. Acute sinusitis may be also be accompanied by thick nasal discharge of yellow greenish color. Sinusitis can be caused by: - Allergy(allergic rhinitis): allergens such as pollen, pet dander… may trigger inflammatory response of the mucosa of the nose and sinuses, resulting in excess mucus production, nasal congestion, sneezing and itching. - Infection: infection usually occurs as a complication of a common cold. Impaired sinus drainage due to inflammation of nasal mucosa during a cold often leads to infection of the sinus itself. Cold-like symptoms plus headache, facial pain or pressure are common complaints. - Other conditions that cause blockage of sinus drainage. These include: structural abnormalities such as deviated nasal septum; formation of nasal polyps. Treatments vary depending on the cause of sinusitis: - For allergy: intranasal corticosteroids are commonly used. - For viral infection: symptom relief medications such as nasal spray for irrigation and decongestion; other conservative treatment for common cold such as rest and drinking plenty of fluid. - For bacterial infection: antibiotics may be prescribed. - For recurrent or chronic sinusitis due to structural abnormalities or nasal polyps, nasal surgery may be recommended to clear up the drainage canal.

Canine heart failure (pulmonary hypertension)
I am adding this photo so that other dog owners will know what to look for and bring their dog to the vet ASAP. She had labored breathing at times and a hacking cough like in this video. My dog had symptoms for close to a year and they got worse over time, but no one diagnosed her until it was too late. She was diagnosed about a week before she died with Pulmonary Hypertension. She was almost 15 years old.

What are the causes of COUGH?
LIKE | COMMENT | SHARE | SUBSCRIBE For more info visit http://www.DiseasesAndTreatment.com/ ====================================== Cough An action the body takes to get rid of substances that are irritating to the air passages, which carry the air a person breathes in from the nose and mouth to the lungs. A cough occurs when cells along the air passages get irritated and trigger a chain of events. An irritant stimulates nerves that send a message to your brain. The brain then tells muscles in your chest and abdomen to push air out of your lungs to force out the irritant. Coughs can be divided into infectious (caused by an infection) and noninfectious causes. Frequent coughing usually indicates the presence of a disease. Prolonged, vigorous coughing is exhausting and can cause sleeplessness, headaches, urinary incontinence and even broken ribs. A cough is considered "acute" if it lasts less than three weeks. It is considered "chronic" if it lasts longer than eight weeks (four weeks in children). Common causes of cough include: Allergies occur when your immune system reacts to a foreign substance — such as pollen, bee venom or pet dander — or a food that doesn't cause a reaction in most people. Asthma is a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and produce extra mucus. This can make breathing difficult and trigger coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. Bronchitis is an inflammation of the lining of your bronchial tubes, which carry air to and from your lungs. People who have bronchitis often cough up thickened mucus, which can be discolored. Bronchitis may be either acute or chronic. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). This backwash (acid reflux) can irritate the lining of your esophagus. The common cold is a viral infection of your nose and throat (upper respiratory tract). It's usually harmless, although it might not feel that way. Many types of viruses can cause a common cold. Influenza is a viral infection that attacks your respiratory system — your nose, throat and lungs. Influenza is commonly called the flu, but it's not the same as stomach "flu" viruses that cause diarrhea and vomiting. Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. The air sacs may fill with fluid or pus (purulent material), causing cough with phlegm or pus, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing. A variety of organisms, including bacteria, viruses and fungi, can cause pneumonia. (sputum) production and wheezing. Croup is a common respiratory problem in young children. It tends to occur in the fall and winter. Its main symptom is a harsh, barking cough. Croup causes swelling and narrowing in the voice box, windpipe, and breathing tubes that lead to the lungs. This can make it hard for your child to breathe. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine. Long-term issues include difficulty breathing and coughing up mucus as a result of frequent lung infections. Emphysema is a long-term, progressive disease of the lungs that primarily causes shortness of breath due to over-inflation of the alveoli (air sacs in the lung). In people with emphysema, the lung tissue involved in exchange of gases (oxygen and carbon dioxide) is impaired or destroyed. Heart failure (HF), often referred to as congestive heart failure (CHF), is when the heart is unable to pump sufficiently to maintain blood flow to meet the body's needs. Signs and symptoms commonly include shortness of breath, excessive tiredness, and leg swelling. Laryngitis is an inflammation of your voice box (larynx) from overuse, irritation or infection. Lung cancer is cancer that starts in the lungs. This can spread beyond the lung by the process of metastasis into nearby tissue or other parts of the body. The most common symptoms are coughing (including coughing up blood), weight loss, shortness of breath, and chest pains. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease usually caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Tuberculosis generally affects the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body. Most infections do not have symptoms, in which case it is known as latent tuberculosis. ======================================

Stop it... Please Stop It. Think about the words you speak or type, words really do hurt. In 2014 I found out I need a double lung transplant https://www.youcaring.com/junegaul-749914 https://www.paypal.me/JuneGaulF https://teespring.com/get-june-gauls-fundraiser https://www.gearbubble.com/gbstore/junegaulfundraiser https://www.facebook.com/junegaulsfundraiser/ I have Lupus, Hashimoto's disease, gastroparesis, pulmonary hypertension, to top things off I have COPD (chronic bronchitis/asthma/emphysema). I went into adult respiratory distress 6 months after getting my ceramics studio in 2004. I spent a week in the hospital and came out on oxygen, I was told uncontrolled asthma. In the middle of 2010, the 911 calls started because I couldn't breathe. Dec 2012, I crashed and made it through without being intubated, just a year old Annie my toy fox terrier saved my life by calling out for help. My lungs are 'shot' due to ceramic/porcelain dust and fumes from the kilns that caused emphysema, scaring and lupus. In 2014, I was told I need a double lung transplant, we don't know how long I have. We do the best we can to adapt, climbing over the hurdles we face and getting on with life. I'm not a Vlogger like many, I am finally learning how to edit videos, I don't carry my cell phone ready to hit record but I'll add to each playlist as best I can.

Lecture barotrauma by Dr Marc Mueller
Ear barotrauma is discomfort and possible damage in the ear due to pressure differences between the inside and outside of the eardrum. Causes, incidence, and risk factors The air pressure in the middle ear is usually the same as the air pressure outside of the body. The eustachian tube is a connection between the middle ear and the back of the nose and upper throat. Swallowing or yawning opens the eustachian tube and allows air to flow into or out of the middle ear, keeping the air pressure on both sides of the eardrum equal. If the eustachian tube is blocked, the air pressure in the middle ear is different than the pressure on the outside of the eardrum. This causes barotrauma. Many people experience barotrauma at some time. Barotrauma commonly occurs with altitude changes, such as flying, scuba diving, or driving in the mountains. If you have a congested nose from allergies, colds, or an upper respiratory infection, you are more likely to develop barotrauma.

How to Read a Chest X Ray|Analyzing the Image|how to read a tb skin test
How to Read a Chest X Ray|Analyzing the Image|how to read a tb skin test Start with a general overview. Before you go on to focus on the specific details, it's good practice to take an overview. The major things that you might have skipped over may change the baseline normals you adopt as reference points. Beginning with this overview may also sensitize to look for particular things. Technicians often use what is called the ABCDE method: check the airway (A), bones (B), cardiac silhouette (C), diaphragm (D) and lung fields and everything else (E). 2 Check if there are any instruments such as tubes, IV lines, EKG leads, pacemaker, surgical clips, or drains. 3 Check the airway. Check to see if the airway is patent and midline.[11] For example, in a tension pneumothorax, the airway is deviated away from the affected side. Look for the carina, where the trachea bifurcates (divides) into the right and left main stem bronchi. 4 Check the bones. Look for any fractures, lesions, or defects. Note the overall size, shape, and contour of each bone, density or mineralization (osteopenic bones look thin and less opaque), cortical thickness in comparison to medullary cavity, trabecular pattern, presence of any erosions, fractures, lytic or blastic areas. Look for lucent and sclerotic lesions. A lucent bone lesion is an area of bone with a decreased density (appearing darker); it may appear punched out compared to surrounding bone.[12] A sclerotic bone lesion is an area of bone with an increased density (appearing whiter).[13] At joints, look for joint spaces narrowing, widening, calcification in the cartilages, air in the joint space, and abnormal fat pads. 5 Look for the cardiac silhouette sign. The silhouette sign is basically the elimination of the silhouette or loss of lung/soft tissue interface, that occurs after a mass or flood in the lung.[14] Look at the size of the cardiac silhouette (white space representing the heart, situated between the lungs). A normal cardiac silhouette occupies less than half the chest width. Look for water-bottle-shaped heart on PA plain film, suggestive of pericardial effusion. Get an ultrasound or chest Computed Tomography (CT) to confirm 6 Check the diaphragm. Look for a flat or raised diaphragm. A flattened diaphragm may indicate emphysema. A raised diaphragm may indicate area of airspace consolidation (as in pneumonia) making the lower lung field indistinguishable in tissue density compared to the abdomen.[16] The right diaphragm is normally higher than the left, due to the presence of the liver below the right diaphragm.[17] Also look at the costophrenic angle (which should be sharp) for any blunting, which may indicate effusion (as fluid settles down) subscribe to more videos FOLLOW ME SOCIAL PROFILES: YouTube: https://goo.gl/yEbKyd Google+: https://goo.gl/T1fvmo FaceBook: https://goo.gl/nXwenV Twitter: https://goo.gl/yMmnDl Pintrest: https://goo.gl/KHEQjl Linkedin: https://goo.gl/262zkC 6.How to Practice Mindfulness of Death Meditation|buddhist death rituals 49 days https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBeZN1utJcY …………………………………………………………………………………………………. 7.How to Practice Compassion Meditation|simple meditation techniques https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-Mu7bt3T8A ………………………………………………………………………………………………. 8.How to Sleep in Zen Relaxation|zen sleep music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzgLrgUAQ-U ………………………………………………………………………………………………… 9.How to Increase Your Capacity to Channel Reiki Energy|reiki share https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KnNS8sPQ5c …………………………………………………………………………………… 10.focused attention meditation |meditation process for beginners https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPryrzBRy0o
