Arthritis is a painful and deforming condition of the body joints. The joints of the body such as the finger joints, elbow joints, the shoulder joints, the hip, the knee and the feet, all these joints may be affected in arthritis. Arthritis is primarily of three types. Inflammatory arthritis such as Rheumatoid arthritis affects usually the smaller joints. It can cause pain, inflammation and swelling, ultimately leading to deformity. On the other hand, degenerative arthritis such as osteoarthritis, usually affects the knees, the weight bearing areas of the body. This is a painful condition that may make the person bed-ridden out of pain and fear. The third type of arthritis is called gouty arthritis, primarily affects the toes. It affects the joints of the big toe, and is due to the deposit of urate, that is Uric acid crystal. Yoga can help the arthritic patient in many ways. It improves the tolerance of pain. Some people feel that even a thorn prick is like a knife stabbing them, whereas others can tolerate severe pain as if it is just a thorn pick. This lies in the mind. Yoga helps tolerate pain better. If you can tolerate pain better, your life's quality is definitely improved. Yoga improves the movements at all the joints, the flexibility, the mobility, the turn ability, ability to turn. This again improves the condition of the arthritic patient. Home Remedies For Arthritis - Drinking boiled water with dry ginger once a day , During meals eating 1 to 2 tea spoons of Coconut Oil (Please consult your medical advisor before) , Before taking shower / bath, massage the painful part / joint with Castor Oil, Before going to bed, drink 2 spoons of Castor oil + 1 spoon Honey + ¼ cup warm water.

Salabasana - Lie down on your stomach, Keep your hands below your thighs and Raise your right leg. Slowly bring the leg down and take your left leg up. Slowly bring that leg down and later raise both your legs. Repeat this regularly. Benefits - Reduces weight and make muscles strong. Bhujangasana - Lie on the floor upside down. Keep your legs together with your toes stretched backwards. Keep the palms near your chest and bend your head and the back upwards in a coverage position. At the same time curl your legs and bring it near your bent head. Benefits - Strengthens back muscles and makes spine stronger. Sarvangasana - Lie flat on your back and inhale deeply while raising your legs and spine until the toes point to the ceiling. The body rests on the shoulders and the back of the neck. Pawanmuktasana - Lie on the ground, Bend the right knee and bring the thigh to the chest. Interlock your fingers on your leg just below your knee. Keep your left leg straight on the ground. Hold your breath and raise your head and shoulder off the ground and try to touch the right knee with your nose. Exhale slowly and come back to the normal position. Benefits - Improves digestive system and makes your spine flexible and strong. Dhanurasana - Lie flat on your stomach, Bend your knees and fold your legs upwards. 👍  8 Hand EXERCISES to Ease ARTHRITIS Pain

With the increased use of the hand, arthritis pain increases as well. For instance, if you’re working in the kitchen or typing on a keyboard you’ll witness sharp pain.Many people also lose the power in their hands.Over time this weakness can make it difficult to perform the regular everyday tasks like opening toothpaste. What makes this disease especially unpleasant is the fact that when it hits the joints of the hands because it results in numbness and pain. We strongly feel that natural home treatments are the way to go. There are several specially designed hand exercises that can improve the hand’s flexibility, extend their range of motion and ease arthritis pain. They’re very simple and noninvasive. Soaking your hands in warm water or dipping them in warm paraffin wax is a great way to reduce pain before you perform the exercises. You can even try performing some of the exercises with your hands submerged in warm water or while you’re in a heated pool. This way you’re gently exercising your joints and muscles. The buoyancy of the water supports and lessens stress on the joints, enabling you to move your hands more easily. Water can also act as resistance to help build muscle strength. Make A Fist A really easy exercise you can do just about anywhere. It’s best to use it when you’re feeling stiffness in this area.This exercise is fairly easy to do. Start by keeping your right hand straight. Then, turn your hand into a fist and place your thumb out of the fist. Note that you shouldn’t be squeezing your hand – be relaxed. Open your hand slowly until each of your fingers is straight. Perform 10 reps. After that, repeat the procedure with your left hand. Thumb Bend Start by holding your hand straight up and bendingyour thumb in the direction of the palm. Stretch it as much as you can and try to reach the pinky finger with the thumb. If you can’t do it, don’t stress yourself out. Just stretch it as much as you can. Stay in that position for a couple of seconds and place the thumb in its initial position in the end. 10 repetitions with both hands will be enough. Finger Bands Using the same position as the first exercise, straighten your left hand. Try gently bending your thumb in the direction of your palm. Remain in this position for a few seconds.Bring your thumb in the initial position. Then, bend your index finger in the same direction, wait for a few seconds before straightening it. Repeat this with every finger. Once you’re finished with your left hand, do the same thing with your right hand. Make An O Start by straightening your left hand. Then, direct all your fingers inward so they can touch, making an “O”. Remain in this position for several seconds, before straightening your fingers. Do at least three reps, using both hands. This exercise is perfect in the moments your fingers and hand feel stiff or achy. Table Bend Start with your left hand, putting your pinky close to the table. Point your thumb up and bend the rest of your fingers making an L formation.Stay in this position for a couple of seconds, before straightening your fingers. Do 10 reps with both hands. Finger Lift Start by putting left hand on a table with its palm down,keeping it flattened. Try lifting each finger off the table carefully starting with your thumb. Keep the finger in the same position for two seconds, before lowering it down. Perform the same procedure with every finger from the left and right hand. Fan And Fist Start by holding your hand in a neutral position, keeping your knuckles straight.Gradually and carefully spread your fingers as much as you can (something like a fan when it’s opening up). Then, try making a fist. Remain in each of these positions for about five seconds. Do the exercise two times a day with both hands. Wrist Stretch Using your wrists, you can eliminate the stiffness and ease the pain. Keep your right arm out, with your palm facing down. Then, press it gently with the left hand until you feel that your arm and wrist are stretched.Stay in that position for a couple of seconds. Do 10 reps with both hands. Arthritis is a painful and deforming condition of the body joints. Bend both knees and sit cross legged. Waist, back and neck should be in a straight line. Keep your hands on your knees in gyana mudra (Fix the index finger with tip of thumb keeping other three fingers straight). Breathe rhythmically.. Tala Asana Begin in sama sthiti asana with your hands in front of your chest in namaskara mudra. Step your legs apart, with the distance between your feet slightly narrower than shoulder-width. Make sure that the inner borders of your feet are parallel and that your weight is equally distributed between both feet. Inhale and raise your arms in a wide arc, into a parallel position above your head, with the palms open and facing forward. Feel the whole body stretch as much as possible from the legs through the trunk and arms, keeping hands and fingers straight, but relaxed. Stand as fully extended as possible within this position without tension or rigidness. The shoulders should feel relaxed with the arms fully extended but not tense. Now apply asvini mudra by holding a continual contraction of the muscles of the anus and the entire anal zone. Close your eyes and breathe deeply and slowly. Mehru Asana - Sit on your heels with the knees wide apart. Bring the hands and forearms together, palms upwards.Leaning forward, place the hands flat on the floor with the fingers pointed in towards the body. Elbows are bent slightly while the sides of the hands and the elbows are joined together. Press your elbows into the midriff area Keep your belly firm and drop your head to the floor. Straighten the knee and stretch one leg straight back and bring the other leg out beside it. The upper part of the feet should be on the floor. Keep your buttocks firm and your shoulders rounded slightly downwards. Raise the head up and gaze forward. Shift the weight forward with the buttocks, keeping the legs firm and strong. As the weight shifts, the feet should come off the ground. The body should be aligned on the hands and parallel to the floor. Rest in this position for 10 seconds and steadily increase the time to one minute. Release your feet and head to the floor. Knee Arthritis Stretches & Exercises - Ask Doctor Jo

These knee arthritis stretches and exercises are simple to do and should provide some relief from knee arthritis pain. They are also great for keeping your knees nice and fit. Read Doctor Jo's full blog post about this at http://www.askdoctorjo.com/content/knee-arthritis-stretches-exercises The first stretch is for your calf muscles. Start off with your legs out in front of you. Keep the leg you want to stretch out in front of you. Take a stretch strap, dog leash, belt, or towel and wrap it around the ball of your foot. Relax your foot, and pull the strap towards you stretching your calf muscle. You should feel the stretch under your leg. Hold the stretch for 30 seconds, and do three of them. The next stretch is for the hamstrings. Keep your leg that you want to stretch out in front of you. Try to keep your back straight and just bend at your hips. Keep your leg straight and pull your toes towards you to get an extra stretch. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds, and repeat three times. The last stretch is for your quad muscles. This time you will lie on your stomach to stretch. Wrap the strap or dog leash around your ankle, and then lie on your stomach. Bring the strap up and around your shoulder so you are comfortable. Then pull the strap towards you bringing the lower leg towards your bottom. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds doing three of them. Now we will move on to the exercises. The first exercise is going to be a quad set. Put your leg straight out in front of you again. You can use a towel roll underneath your knee as a target. Activate your quad muscle by squeezing it and pull your toes toward you at the same time. This will push your knee into the ground. Try to hold this for 5-10 seconds and do 10 of them. Next you will do a short arc quad (SAQ). For this, you will use a foam roll or a rolled up beach towel. You want something big so you have a good bend in your knee. Prop your leg over the roll with your knee on the roll. Try to keep your knee on the roll the whole time, and then lift your foot in the air until your leg is straight. If you pull your toes towards you at the end, this will help activate all the muscles in the leg. Try not to go fast because then you are only using momentum. Go slow and controlled with your movements. Start of with 10 of these. If you get to 20-25 and it is easy, then you can add ankle weights. For the next exercise, you will sit in a chair. This one is called a long arc quad (LAQ). This is similar to the SAQ where you want to go slow and controlled, and then bring your leg up straight out in front of you. Slowly come back down. Start of with 10 of these. If you get to 20-25 and it is easy, then you can add ankle weights. Now you are going to stand up for the last exercises. For the hamstring exercise standing up, you want to keep the top part of your leg as straight as possible in line with your body. It might try to come forward if your muscles are tight, but try to keep it down. Slowly bring your foot back behind you, like you are trying to kick your bottom. Make sure you are going slow and controlled with these. Start of with 10 of these. If you get to 20-25 and it is easy, then you can add ankle weights. The last one is for calf strengthening. With your feet about shoulder width apart, and holding onto something for balance if you need to, come up on your toes bringing your heels off the ground, and slowly come back down. If that becomes easy, you can do this one foot at a time. Start off with ten and work your way up to 20-25.
