No cussin' - no politics - no religion - no spitting! https://www.facebook.com/ObsoleteOddity Oddie's Historical Feature - Episode 17 This Historical Features details the the story of the Papin Sisters – their upbringing – the murders - and their trial & final years. Christine & Léa Papin grew up in Le Mans, France. After a tragic upbringing, things appeared to be going in the right direction for them; they had a good job as head servant/cook & chambermaid in a the house of a wealthy middle class family. By all accounts, they were fed & treated well & had a comfortable heated room on the third floor of the large house of Monsieur Lancelin & his family. Then one day, the girls snapped...leaving a horific trail in their wake. No one could quite believe that these two kind & demure young women, could be capable of such shocking & grisly murders. Many thanks to one of my sweet viewer's 'Melissa Sutton' for suggesting I research this case. Check out Oddie's Historical Feature playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list... Instead, he saw that it was returned to its owner, an honorable act that's now paying off. Dave Tally, a recovering drug addict, came across the lost backpack earlier this month in a light rail station in Tempe. He opened it up, trying to find some sort of identification or baggage tag. Inside, there were no clues about its rightful owner, but Tally did find an envelope stuffed with $3,300 in cash, as well as a laptop computer. Painted Babies At 17 (Beauty Pageant Contestants Then And Now Documentary) - Real Stories

59:04
Check out our new website for more incredible documentaries: HD and ad-free. https://goo.gl/LwMcmY In 1995, the award winning documentary Painted Babies sent shock waves around the world as it lifted the lid on child beauty pageants: a world of stolen childhoods fuelled by parental ambition. Twelve years on, acclaimed British documentary maker Jane Treays revisits her original subjects – Asia Mansure and Brooke Breedwell – who are now 17, and charts how their lives have changed. By cutting back to their lives as inarticulate and compliant five-year-olds, a fascinating portrait emerges of pageant life, ambition, class and culture. Want to watch more full-length Documentaries? The History of the Television documentary

44:57
An exploration of the world's most popular entertainment, from the boy genius who invented it to the RCA General who made it a reality. Television became available in crude experimental forms in the late 1920s, but it would still be several years before the new technology was marketed to consumers. After World War II, an improved form of black-and-white TV broadcasting became popular in the United States and Britain, and television sets became commonplace in homes, businesses, and institutions. During the 1950s, television was the primary medium for influencing public opinion. In the mid-1960s, color broadcasting was introduced in the US and most other developed countries. The availability of multiple types of storage media such as Betamax, VHS tape, local disks, DVDs, flash drives, high-definition Blu-ray Discs, and digital video recorders have enabled viewers to watch prerecorded material—such as movies— at home on their own time schedule. For many reasons, the storage of television and video programming now occurs on the cloud. At the end of the first decade of the 2000s, digital television transmissions greatly increased in popularity. Another development was the move from standard-definition television (SDTV) (576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution and 480i) to high-definition television (HDTV), which provides a resolution that is substantially higher. HDTV may be transmitted in various formats: 1080p, 1080i and 720p. Since 2010, with the invention of smart television, Internet television has increased the availability of television programs and movies via the Internet through streaming video services such as Netflix, Amazon Video, iPlayer, Hulu, Roku and Chromecast.
