Watch a few guys build a nice new entrance to an existing home. All the techniques and methods that were used during this project will be covered in detail during the House Building Series. First, the porch was fun to design and build because of the materials, style and the fact that it used several different crafts. Second, Jeff and Debbie were among some of the best clients that I have ever worked for. They wanted it nice, they were good at making design choices with out changing their minds over and over, they were not shy about asking questions or objecting if I was not meeting the terms of the contract and they were not shy about expressing appreciation for good work. They bent over backwards to give me full access to the project and understood the delays caused by weather. A 4' level will not do everything for you, but it will certainly do a LOT. It's the most versatile level, and the one I use the most often. I have used it for many years, Nate has used it for many years, and it has proven to be an excellent and extremely high quality tool. I believe it cost around $50 or so.
