Phone charger injuries: Nebraska teen’s charger-in-foot injury goes viral - TomoNews

05:04
PAPILLION, NEBRASKA — An 18 year-old girl’s viral pictures of her nasty charger-in-foot injury are teaching kids everywhere why they should always clean their rooms. Julia Pechar, 18, was watching Netflix last Tuesday inside her seriously messy bedroom when she got up to get some popcorn, and when she did, she stepped on the charger. According to the Omaha World-Herald, the high-school student then took the photos of her foot and her room. She called on her mom Mary, who pulled the charger out. The tweet accompanying the photos reads: “When your room is this messy, you have to accept the consequences of not being able to see where you step”. The photos have been retweeted some 13,000 times and have been featured in news around the globe. Pechar was treated with a tetanus shot and is on antibiotics following the injury, reported the Omaha World-Herald. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Yellowstone volcano eruption: How NASA plans to protect Earth from a supervolcanic end - TomoNews

01:59
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, U.S.A — NASA plans to stop the Yellowstone caldera from erupting by pumping it full of water and siphoning geothermal energy from it. According to the BBC, the space agency has developed a plan to drill underneath Yellowstone and pump it's magma chamber full of water, extracting the heat. Cooling the magma rock would occur at a rate of 1 meter per year, meaning it could take thousands of years to eliminate the risk of eruption. The cost of NASA's plan is estimated to be US$3.5 billion, the BBC reports. The space agency expects the clean energy derived from heat extraction would offset this via lower power costs and the creation of geothermal plants in the area. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Switched at birth: DNA test results reveal 28yo man in China not related to his parents - TomoNews

06:45
CHINA — A mother in China is struggling to cope with DNA test results that have revealed the child she has raised for 28 years is not her flesh and blood. The woman, surnamed Zhang, claims as the boy grew up, many of her friends would often comment about how oddly handsome he looked compared to his father, saying he was "too good looking." In an interview with Kan Kan News, Zhang admits the boy "has big eyes and a high nose bridge" and that "his father is not very good looking." The ugly-dad complex continued to bother Zhang's husband to no end, so much so she claims it eventually led to the couple's divorce in 2004. Unable to let things go, in 2011, the man convinced them all to take a DNA test, and sure enough, the boy was not theirs, biologically speaking. Unable to accept the news, the family members took another DNA test in 2016, and the results came back the same. Zhang is now suing for 1.3 million yuan and hopes to find out what happened to her real child, while helping Wang Ye track down his real parents. In a statement released this week, the hospital says it has launched an investigation, and will accept responsibility for the mistake if it is proven that it was at fault. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Tree man disease: Bangladesh man receives 16 surgeries to restore hands to normal - TomoNews

05:35
DHAKA, BANGLADESH — It may have taken a year and an insane number of surgeries, but this Bangladeshi man couldn’t be happier to finally have his hands and feet back. CNN reports that Abul Bajander suffers from epidermodysplasia verruciformis, a rare disease that began causing lesions to appear on his skin at age 10. The lesions worsened over time, eventually encompassing both his hands and making it difficult for him to make a living as a rickshaw driver. Bark-like growths had also started sprouting from his hands and feet, making it impossible to do anything except scratch his neck. The 27-year-old has been dubbed “Tree Man” by international media, and is one of only four people in the world to ever be diagnosed with the disease. Doctors in Dhaka offered to treat him free of charge, and moved him and his family to the hospital last February to begin the first of many groundbreaking surgeries. Sixteen operations later, doctors have removed eleven pounds of growth and restored tree man’s hands. He’ll still need a few more surgeries for beautification, but he now can at least eat, write, and hold his 3-year-old daughter on his own. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TomoNews is your best source for real news. Military technology 2017: DARPA testing robot warship that can hunt enemy submarines - TomoNews

05:53
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA — The U.S. military is currently testing an autonomous sea vessel with the ability to track enemy submarines. The Sea Hunter is being trialled by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). It’s designed primarily to hunt submarines equipped with quiet electric-diesel engines. The 40-meter-long vessel can travel at 31 miles per hour and has no armaments. Its design resembles a Polynesian outrigger canoe. This helps it navigate the ocean and handle challenging 6-meter-high waves. According to the Department of Defence, advanced software and hardware allow it to operate autonomously around other vessels and remain at sea for months at a time. Testing is expected to finish in 2018. If it is successful, it will be handed over to the U.S. Navy. ------------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your best source for real news. Future motorcycles: Honda self-balancing Riding Assist tech keeps bike balanced - TomoNews

04:02
LAS VEGAS — Honda has unveiled a well-balanced piece of motorcycle tech designed to help riders stay in the saddle at low speeds. The Riding Assist concept bike has an adjustable front fork that assumes a wider angle to increase stability and its own motor attached to the front wheel, TechCrunch reported. As anyone who’s ever tried to maneuver a big bike out of a parking lot at low speed knows, keeping balance at 2 or 3 miles an hour is one of the trickiest aspects of riding. The bike was revealed earlier this week at tech tradeshow CES 2017 in Las Vegas. Although there’s no plans to bring it to market soon, the concept bike shows how Honda’s investment in robotics can have spin-off benefits for its vehicles. The technology behind the Riding Assist bike was honed in the development of both Honda’s humanoid Asimo robot and UNI-CUB scooter, according to TechCrunch. Personal robots like Asimo are likely still a decade away from being ready to be sold to consumers. However, the legacy technology from the development of Asimo and the UNI-CUB could help bring real improvements to Honda’s vehicles much sooner than that. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Subway Jared beaten: Inmate who beat up Jared Fogle explains why he did it - TomoNews

06:09
LITTLETON, COLORADO — Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle got the pulp punched out of him by another prisoner, as he serves a 15-year sentence for sexually abusing minors and storing a trove of child pornography on his computer. Now, that man has come forward with his explanation of why he attacked Fogle. In a letter obtained by TMZ, Steve Nigg, 61, reveals that Fogle was looked at “like a God” by the other child molesters at the penitentiary. As a result, Fogle apparently carried himself as if he was royalty, and hired personal bodyguards to protect him on the grounds. But when Nigg cornered him in the yard on January 29, 2016, one of Fogle’s bodyguards stepped aside to let Nigg pulverize him. The incident report states Jared suffered a bloody nose, scratches to the neck, and redness and swelling to his face. Nigg walked away with a small cut on his hand and an abrasion on his left knee from the concrete, but it also robbed him of the good credit he’d built up for a chance at early release. He says he spent many months in solitary confinement, and lost privileges such as commissary and email access. Still, he admits he has no regrets, and claims he did it for Fogle’s victims and their families. Following the assault, Nigg was moved to a prison far away in Oklahoma, because he reportedly told prison officials if given the chance, he’d attack Fogle again for his hatred toward child molesters. Nigg previously served 13 years of a 15-year sentence for robbing a motel clerk, a convenience store and a gas station at gunpoint. After being released in 1990, he was put back behind bars in 2011 for being in possession of a firearm with three previous convictions of a violent felony. By most accounts from those who knew him after his first sentence was completed, Nigg was a decent man who was actively involved in his community, even teaching kids martial arts, and voluntarily dressing up like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for annual holidays. ------------------------------------------------------- For news that's fun and never boring, visit our channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomoNewsUS Subscribe to stay updated on all the top stories: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt-WqkTyKK1_70U4bb4k4lQ?sub_confirmation=1 Visit our website for all the latest, uncensored videos: http://us.tomonews.net Check out our Android app: http://bit.ly/1rddhCj Check out our iOS app: http://bit.ly/1gO3z1f Stay connected with us here: Facebook http://www.facebook.com/TomoNewsUS Twitter @tomonewsus http://www.twitter.com/TomoNewsUS Google+ http://plus.google.com/+TomoNewsUS/ Instagram @tomonewsus http://instagram.com/tomonewsus -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Eyeball tattoo: Model might get eye removed after eyeball tattoo goes horribly wrong - TomoNews

05:54
ONTARIO, CANADA — A Canadian model could be losing one of her eyes after a botched procedure left it swollen and purple. The Washington Post reports that months ago, Catt Gallinger had her sclera stained by a tattoo artist who was also her then-boyfriend. The artist was horribly inexperienced. He didn't mix the ink with saline, and used a large needle instead of a small one. The injection went too deep into the eye, delivering too much undiluted purple ink in one go, and resulting in an infection. Gallinger felt intense pain shortly afterward, and began leaking purple ink from her eye. She was prescribed antibiotic eye drops, which only helped spread the infection. Soon, a clump formed around her cornea and her eyes swelled shut. Doctors were supposed to operate on the 24-year-old so they could cut out the lump, then do an amniotic tissue graft to replace lost tissue. But when Gallinger attempted to go in for surgery without sedation in November, she suffered the worst panic attack of her life. The missed operation has put her at a higher risk of eye loss, and though sedated surgery is still a possibility, she claims she's now considering eye removal. Gallinger has been open about her ordeal, and hopes it will serve as a cautionary tale to anyone wanting to get similarly risky procedures done. The Ontario government has since added a ban on cosmetic eye tattoos to avoid more cases like Gallinger's. Ambulance drone: Texas company argodesign unveils done that can be used as an ambulance - TomoNews

04:28
AUSTIN, TEXAS — A Texas-based design firm has illustrated plans for an ambulance drone that can help transporting patients faster and more efficiently than regular ambulances or helicopters. The concept of ambulance drone was submitted by argodesign to Co.Design’s Body Week, which features innovative technologies mainly concerning health and related subjects. The ambulance drone is modelled after a standard quadcopter, which is roughly the size of a compact car. The drone can follow a GPS location, be remotely controlled by a pilot, or a combination of both. It can travel on autopilot, while a pilot can control the drone remotely in case of difficult takeoffs and landings. One single pilot can also control a whole fleet of ambulance drones remotely. The drone is able to travel above traffic or other obstacles on the ground, so that it can arrive at its location faster than regular ambulances. Given its relatively small size, the drone could land almost anywhere. "I wouldn’t be surprised to get emails, to hear lots of the aeronautics companies saying, ‘we are working on something like this,’" Mark Rolston, the founder of argodesign told Co.Design. "It makes perfect sense. We may have underestimated the wingspan challenge for lift, but in a greater scheme of things, that’s a trivial part of the idea." -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Alien life found on Titan by NASA? Studies indicate there maybe life on Saturn's moon - TomoNews

04:07
SPACE — New research suggests that Saturn's moon Titan may contain the key elements of life. Using data from NASA's Cassini satellite, one study found that the Titan's upper atmosphere is home to carbon chain anions, reported the Smithsonian Mag. These serve as a stepping stone to more labyrinthine molecules that can develop life, reported Mic. Separately another study in found vinyl cyanide in Titan's atmosphere. Scientists speculate that this forms the the outer wall of a cell and protects the biochemistry that takes place within, reported Universe Today. Titan's atmosphere is some of the most complex observed by astronomers and these studies further bolster the idea the moon maybe home to organic life. The studies were published was published last month in The Astrophysical Journal Letters and Science Advances. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Eclipse eye damage: Woman gets crescent-shaped eye burn after staring at solar eclipse - TomoNews

07:21
NEW YORK CITY — A woman found out first hand how a solar eclipse fries your eyes, after coming away from the Great American Eclipse with a crescent-shaped eye burn. CNN reports that on August 21, Nia Payne had gone to her boyfriend's workplace at Staten Island to see the eclipse. She peeked at the sun with her naked eye for a few seconds before borrowing glasses from a woman nearby. The 26-year-old didn't know what eclipse glasses were supposed to look like, but claims the sun still seemed bright through the pair she had on. Hours later, she noticed her vision getting blurry, and she began seeing a weird dark spot. She lost partial vision in her left eye the next day. Doctors examining her eyes were shocked to find that the damaged area in the left retina was crescent-shaped, making it look exactly like the eclipse. They suspect that the glasses she used were either defective or fake, which allowed solar radiation to penetrate through and cause retinal damage. The condition, known as solar retinopathy, is permanent and is currently untreatable. Instead, Payne has had to retrain her vision to cope, but she'll probably have a permanent crescent-shaped void in her sight for the rest of her life. HIV vaccine: Experimental new vaccine targets protective HIV sugar-protein shield - TomoNews

06:22
COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND — University of Maryland and Duke University researchers have designed a new vaccine that was able to stimulate an immune response against HIV's protective shield. According to the study published in the journal Cell Chemical Biology, HIV virus cells are covered with a protective protein called GP120, which itself is covered by a sugar shield to help bolster its defenses. Some infected individuals who can keep the virus at bay without medication often have have antibodies that attack the protein. There has been little success in creating a similar vaccine, because the sugars found in the shield resemble sugars in the human body. It's also difficult to engineer antibodies that can be effective against the multiple strains of HIV, which frequently mutate. Using a synthetic chemistry method, scientists have now designed a vaccine combining a gp120 fragment and a sugar molecule, and tested it on HIV-infected rabbits. The vaccine prompted the rabbits' immune systems to produce antibodies that physically bound to gp120 found in four dominant HIV strains. It takes roughly two years to build immunity against HIV, so despite sticking to the virus, the antibodies weren't able to prevent further infection. But the vaccine's ability to induce a strong immune response in a short amount of time is encouraging, and researchers believe further studies can produce a vaccine that can ultimately neutralize the deadly virus. ------------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your best source for real news. WWII bomb: Unexploded bomb that could destroy an entire block defused in Frankfurt - TomoNews

06:06
FRANKFURT, GERMANY — Explosives experts in Frankfurt on Sunday defused a massive bomb — a remnant of the last World War more than 70 years ago. CNN reports that the 1.4 ton HC 4000 bomb was found buried at a construction site close to Goethe University's Frankfurt campus on Tuesday. The discovery prompted authorities to cordon off a 1.5-kilometer radius danger zone around the explosive. Over 60,000 people were evacuated from the area, which was home to hospitals, retirement homes, and the Bundesbank, Germany's central bank. Dubbed 'Blockbuster', the British World War II-era bomb could reportedly generate an explosion capable of flattening an entire block. Of the estimated 1.5 million tons of munitions dropped on Germany by Allied forces, some 15% failed to explode and ended up getting buried, according to the New York Times. Experts say over 2,000 tons of unexploded weaponry are found in the country each year. Despite having a dedicated bomb-disposal unit, Germany's unexploded bombs remain a problem. The aging munitions could become more brittle and unstable, and are reportedly being spotted in harder-to-reach areas, reports the BBC. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. NASA’s New Horizons space ship only 2 years away from its next target after Pluto flyby - TomoNews

07:27
SPACE — NASA’s New Horizons mission is just two years away from its next target, a small Kuiper Belt object that orbits nearly a billion miles beyond Pluto. New Horizons is scheduled to fly by 2014 MU69 on Jan. 1, 2019, making it the most distant object humans have ever explored. 2014 MU69 measures between 25 km to 45 km across. Scientists are not sure how bright the object is. Its albedo reading, the measure of how much light reflects from a surface, may be 0.04 or slightly brighter. By comparison, Pluto has an albedo reading between 0.49 to 0.66, while Mars has a reading of 0.15. New Horizons is currently speeding at a velocity of 14.32 km per second relative to the sun. It is almost halfway between Pluto and its next target, a Kuiper Belt object called 2014 MU69. New Horizons was designed to fly well past Pluto. It carries extra hydrazine fuel for a Kuiper Belt object flyby and its communications system is designed to work from far beyond Pluto. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TomoNews is your best source for real news. Vertical farming: Plenty receives $200 million investment from tech giants - TomoNews

07:46
SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco startup Plenty specialized in vertical farming has secured $200 million from investors including Japanese media corporation SoftBank, the parent company of Google, Alphabet and Amazon. Plenty grows their plants vertically on the sides of a tall tower. Lights are also arranged vertically to give the plants maximum amount of exposure. The vertical farm can grow up to 350 times more produce than conventional farm in the same amount of space, using less water too, Fast Company reported. According to the BBC, the firm is planning on building indoor vertical farms with the size up to five acres, which is roughly the size of big supermarkets like Walmart. The facilities will be built next to large cities in order to reduce the amount of delivery time. "We believe that Plenty's team will remake the current food system to improve people's quality of life," Masayoshi Son, chief executive of Softbank Group said in a statement. Plenty was founded in 2013. It now has 100 employees in San Francisco and Wyoming. The firm plans to supply its vertically grown food to market this fall. The firm is not the first nor the only firm specializing in vertical farming. Other firms such as Aerofarms, Bowery and Betterlife Growers are all promoting this innovative farming technology. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Shark begs for help: incredible footage shows shark with hook in its body nudge divers - TomoNews

05:12
JUPITER, FLORIDA — A video circulating online appears to show a shark swimming over to a group of divers, nudging them for help to remove a hook from its body. On March 22, diver Josh Eccles was going for dip in the Atlantic Ocean when a lemon shark swam up to him and gave him a nudge. These powerful sharks aren’t known to be a large threat to humans, but sharks can be unpredictable. Eccles decided to take a closer look at the shark, and when he did, he found a relatively large rusty hook lodged in the shark’s body. The creature obviously in pain, Eccles managed to get a grip on the hook, and gently pulled it out of the shark’s belly. Freed from the foreign object, the shark swam away peacefully. In the seconds that followed, the shark circled back over to the divers, allowing them a chance to check on it, while also appearing to swim around them, and even with them. Many commenting online believe it may have been a show of gratitude. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. HIV cure? New molecule can 'kick and kill' dormant HIV cells hiding in the body - TomoNews

06:14
LOS ANGELES — Researchers may have finally found a way to eliminate the HIV reservoirs that often remain hidden in the body. Science Daily reports that HIV spreads by taking over a cell's DNA and using it to make copies of itself. Most AIDS treatments are engineered to block this replication cycle, effectively stopping the spread of the virus. But though these drugs allow patients to live longer, they do not rid the body of the virus, which hides in reservoirs and re-emerges once treatment stops. A new 'kick and kill' approach aims to get rid of these reservoirs by using a synthetic molecule called SUW133 to wake up the dormant virus, which will then be eliminated by antiretroviral therapy. The technique was developed by researchers from UCLA, Stanford, and the National Institutes of Health, and is detailed in a study published in PLOS Pathogens. When tested on HIV-infected mice that had been given antiretroviral drugs, 25 percent of the once-dormant virus cells died within 24 hours of being reactivated. With further development, researchers believe the technique could lower the viral reservoir enough for infected patients to stop antiretroviral treatment. The molecule will also need to be tested on larger animals before it can go to human trials. ------------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your best source for real news. Dad accidentally runs over daughter, 12, with powerboat in accident on Newfound Lake - TomoNews

04:35
NEWFOUND LAKE, NEW HAMPSHIRE — A Colorado family is in mourning this week after their 12-year-old girl was killed while water-skiing. On Monday morning, Zoe Anderson was ski-ing while her father Sherwood was driving a powerboat in Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, reported the local newspaper The Union Leader, citing police. Zoe had fallen into the water. Putting the boat in neutral, Sherwood circled round to give her another go but became distracted when wind blew his hat off. It’s here the boat struck Zoe. Even though the boat was moving at a slow pace when it hit Zoe, she suffered major wounds to her torso. Her parents and sister were able to get her onto the boat and to a nearby dock but despite efforts to revive her she died at the scene. The family were visiting the area from their home Highland Ranch, Colorado, reported USA Today. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Spacecraft graveyard: Point Nemo is the spot in the Pacific where satellites retire - TomoNews

04:23
POINT NEMO — Nations around the world bring down old spacecraft when possible in the most remote place on Earth called Point Nemo, Business Insider reported. Smaller satellites burn up in the atmosphere upon reentry, but larger pieces can reach Earth's surface. The spacecraft graveyard is around 1,450 nautical miles away from any land. It lies in the South Pacific in a no-man's land between Australia, New Zealand and South America, according to the BBC. This oceanic pole of inaccessibility covers an area around 580 square miles (1,500 sq km) and is home to more than 260 dead spacecraft, mostly Russian, the BBC reported. China lost control of its Tiangong-1 space station in March 2016, which is now expected to crash into the Earth by early 2018. Since the Chinese are not in control of the spacecraft, they are currently unsure where pieces of the station will make contact. Experts won't be able to make predictions until days before Tiangong-1 is expected to break up in the atmosphere. ------------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your best source for real news. Robot heart: Soft robotic sleeve helps simulate heart beating to push blood through - TomoNews

04:29
CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS — Harvard researchers have developed a soft robotic sleeve that can replicate normal heart muscle movements in order to support failing hearts. The human heart twists as it beats, in a motion similar to wringing and wringing of a towel. In order to mimic this rotational motion, scientists created two sets of silicone robotic sleeves. The first one expands and contracts concentrically while the second one expands and contracts helically. The device is designed to slide over the heart like a sleeve. When inflated with pressurised air, the device can help to boost the amount of blood being pumped. “Soft robotic devices are ideally suited to interact with soft tissue and give assistance that can help with augmentation of function, and potentially even healing and recovery,” Elle T. Roche, first author of the study told Harvard Magazine. According to the Harvard Magazine, about 2.8 million Americans with heart failure suffer from a condition where the heart does not fully contract. However, the robotic sleeve is still at an early stage of development and longer-term animal studies need to be conducted before it could be used in humans ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TomoNews is your best source for real news. Amusement park death: girl thrown from spinning ride at Chinese amusement park - TomoNews

04:59
CHONGQING, CHINA — A 14-year-old girl in south west China has died after an amusement park ride suddenly spun out of control and sent her flying. A 10-second video clip of the accident filmed by a bystander has since gone viral. The horrific turn of events took place shortly after 2pm on February 3 at Zhaohua Park in Fengdu County. The cause of exactly went wrong on the ride, A Journey in Space, has yet to be determined. As it appears on video, multiple passengers were strapped in by safety harnesses. There may have been a malfunction with the girl’s harness, or maybe it wasn’t locked in properly, because somehow it came loose and left her hanging on for dear life. As the ride swung, she somehow managed to cling on to something for at least two full rotations. In the end, the force of the ride was too much for her, and she slipped off, slamming straight into a metal fence before collapsing to the ground. Attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful, and the girl was pronounced dead at the hospital. An investigation into the tragic incident is currently underway. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Loyal dog: dog protects injured dog stuck on train tracks for two days in snowy weather - TomoNews

06:50
UZHHOROD — An injured dog that was stranded on snowy train tracks near Uzhhorod in Ukraine was watched over by her loyal friend for two days until help arrived. Local resident Denis Malafeev found the two dogs, named Lucy and Panda, on Dec. 26. To protect Lucy, who was injured and could not move, Panda became defensive when they were approached by the human rescuers. Malafeev said on Facebook that Panda took care of Lucy by curling up next to her, with both of them pressing themselves against the tracks when trains passed over them. Panda reportedly never abandoned Lucy during their two days on the train tracks. The dogs were later taken to a animal protection center, where Lucy received medical attention. Thankfully, according to Malafeev, she only sustained bruises and hematomas. So it’s not clear why the dogs stayed on the tracks. The animal protection center returned the dogs to their owners after tracking them down. In a recent Facebook update, Malafeev noted that not all people would do what Panda did for Lucy. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. SpaceX Dragon 2 and Boeing CST-100 Starliner pushing 'new space race' for NASA - TomoNews

06:54
WASHINGTON — NASA says it may soon be able to launch astronauts from U.S. soil to the International Space Station. Important project milestones are coming up for NASA's two commercial crew partners: Boeing and SpaceX, according to AP. Several flight tests, including manned missions, are slated for 2018. Boeing is working on the CST-100 Starliner. The spacecraft is designed to send up to seven astronauts to the space station. Three Starliners are currently in production, with one planned to carry astronauts next year. SpaceX, which has flown cargo missions to the space station with its Dragon spacecraft, plans to use the Dragon 2 to send astronauts to space. The Dragon 2 is the latest version of SpaceX's Dragon capsule model, which can carry seven astronauts. Boeing and SpaceX must show that both of their systems are ready to start regular flights to the space station in order to meet NASA's requirements. SpaceX has its first test flight set for February, while Boeing's launch is planned for June. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Kangaroo attack: Jogger gets 35 stitches from vicious mauling by 2m-tall crazy kangaroo - TomoNews

05:54
TEMPLESTOWE, AUSTRALIA — A personal trainer in Melbourne had to have emergency surgery after being brutally mauled by a large male kangaroo. The Manningham Leader reports that Debbie Urquhart was jogging through a bush track in Templestowe Saturday morning and didn’t see the towering threat that was coming her way. A fully grown 2-meter-tall male kangaroo suddenly jumped at her and knocked her down. It kicked and clawed at her ferociously, shredding her clothes and ripping through her flesh. The 54-year-old played dead to try and get the roo to stop attacking, and soon the big boy backed off. Urquhart got back up and walked half a kilometer back home while bleeding from her injuries. She was rushed to the hospital by husband Robert and ended up getting more than 35 stitches. A kangaroo expert told the ABC that this particular kangaroo’s show of aggression was rare, as unprovoked attacks rarely occur. And while the harrowing encounter hasn’t slowed Urquhart down, she says she probably won’t be going near the tracks anytime soon. ------------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your best source for real news. WANSEA, UNITED KINGDOM — A high school student in Wales took part in the internet craze known as the “salt and ice challenge,” and a photograph of his damaged hand is making the rounds on social media. The salt and ice challenge involves placing salt somewhere on the body, and then using an ice cube to press down on the area for as long as possible. Doing this creates a burning sensation in the area, as the salt and the ice combined become significantly colder than the ice on its own, at -18°F (-28°C). Once the participant finally gives up, initially they may feel an immediate numbing sensation in the affected area, meaning they’ve likely experienced nerve damage resulting from second- or third-degree burns, similar to frostbite. The teen’s mother published the photograph of the skin burn to warn other parents of the dangers of this salt and ice challenge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TomoNews is your best source for real news. Card skimming: How to spot ATM skimmers and avoid losing all your money - TomoNews

06:27
DES PLAINES — Police in Des Plaines, Illinois recently reported that a Walgreens ATM was fitted with devices meant to steal people's banking information. These skimming devices have been spotted at ATMS and even in gas pumps across the U.S. But how to avoid them? According to the FBI, ATM skimmers are card readers fitted over the machine's card slot that copy personal data from the card's magnetic strip. The user's PIN is recorded using either a pinhole camera hidden on the ATM, or captured by a fake keypad placed over the real one. PC Mag reports that the first step to spotting a skimmer is to check for signs of tampering. Be wary of differences between machines that are side by side — for example if one has a flashing indicator and the other does not. Push and pull at any protruding parts to see if they are securely attached and have only one piece. Skimmers can only read the magnetic strip if the card is inserted in a single, straight motion, so experts suggest wiggling the card as it goes in to foil the skimmer. When using credit cards, avoid transactions that necessitate swiping the magstrip. Instead, use EMV chip readers and NFC or tap to pay, which are more secure and harder to hack. If you do realize your card has been skimmed, or notice any suspicious activity on your account, alert your bank. You can still get your money back as long as the theft is reported immediately. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Tiger pregnant woman: zoo tiger takes interest in woman’s baby bump, internet “Awws” - TomoNews

07:04
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA — A video showing a pregnant woman sharing a cute interaction with a female tiger at the Potawatomi Zoo has gone viral online, but the nature of the moment has sparked debate among Facebook users. In the video, separated by a wall of glass, Morgana the tiger notices mother-to-be Natasha Handshoe’s baby bump, and appears to try to snuggle against her belly. Natasha and her cousin, Brittany, seem to think the tiger is having a connection with the baby — some level of universal appreciation across species for maternity, or the recognition of life in its most vulnerable state. After the video began making the rounds online, the Potawatomi Zoo shared it as well to capitalize on the growing attention. The zoo posted the video along with the caption: “This is why the Zoo is here — to help make connections to nature!” Some Facebook users thought the video was beautiful, while many more poked fun at the pregnant woman, suggesting that were there no glass separating them, the tiger would have eaten her and her unborn child for lunch. Since originally being posted on June 17, the video has since racked up 778,000 Facebook views. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Voyager 1 and 2 2017: NASA's probes beyond the solar system & in the Heliosphere - TomoNews

06:23
SPACE — Forty years after their 1977 launch, NASA's Voyager-1 and Voyager-2 probes are still providing unique insights about space. NASA's Voyager-2 is currently in a region of space known as the Heliosheath. This forms part of the Heliosphere, a giant multi-tiered magnetic bubble originating from the sun in which our solar system resides. The Heliosheath is a turbulent region of space is wrought with 700 kilometer per hour solarwinds. It's past the termination shock, an outer limit of our solar system where these winds are impacted by interstellar winds. Outside the Heliosheath is the Heliopause, an area that balances both winds, sending them back down to the tail of the Heliosphere. Beyond the Heliopause is interstellar space, the space between stars. This is where Voyager-1 is currently located. Both probes are expected to run out of power by 2020. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Burglary gone wrong: Home intruder gets an unpleasant and deadly shower surprise - TomoNews

05:45
BELFAIR, WASHINGTON — A homeowner was arrested on Saturday for sending an intruder to a dirtnap who was taking a shower in one of his homes. The homeowner, Bruce Fanning, has now been charged with a second-degree no no, Komo News reported. The man, now deceased, was identified as Nathaniel Joseph Rosa, 31, of Bothell by the Mason County coroner’s office. The homeowner owns two properties on the same street. One house that he says he he lives in and the other which he reportedly uses to run an internet-based business, according to Komo News. The house where he runs the business is where the incident took place, Mason County sheriff’s deputies said. According to police, the homeowner said he went over to the house around 8 a.m. and discovered that his front door had been kicked in. He later discovered Rosa in the shower and they exchanged some words. The homeowner then went back to house that he lives in to retrieve his firearm. He came back to introduce Rosa — who was still sans clothes — to the 2nd Amendment. The homeowner then called 911 and said that he had put a burglar down. Authorities don’t believe the homeowner gave Rosa any warnings before discharging his weapon. Police said the homeowner is cooperating with detectives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Amazon airship: Amazon patents unmanned airship to launch its delivery drones - TomoNews

07:21
ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA — Amazon has filed a patent for a self-driving airship that can store inventory and be used as a base to launch delivery drones. Amazon’s airborne fulfillment centers would hover at an altitude of 45,000 feet and be the focal point of a network of unmanned aerial vehicles. The patent for the airship was filed in 2014 but only came to light last week, when it was uncovered by Zoe Leavitt, an analyst at technology research company CB Insights, Reuters reported. The self-driving airships would carry a cargo of Amazon products and unmanned drones to deliver goods to customers. The drones could navigate horizontally to their destination and would use little to no power, according to the patent. The airships would be replenished by smaller, unmanned service vehicles, which could carry workers, drones, fuel, and inventory. One potential use of the airships could be at big events, such as concerts or football games, where they could be used to deliver souvenirs, or food. Amazon has successfully tested deliveries by drone in the UK and is waiting for federal approval to roll out the service in the United States, USA Today reported. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Hillary Clinton wanted to dump Taiwan: WikiLeaks emails show HRC wanted to ditch Taiwan - TomoNews

01:55
WASHINGTON — An alleged email by Hillary Clinton shows that the former secretary of state was willing to discuss an op-ed piece in the New York Times that called for Washington to ditch Taiwan in exchange for China writing off U.S. debt. According to the document released by WikiLeaks, back in 2011, Clinton adviser Jake Sullivan sent the New York Times editorial titled “To Save Our Economy, Ditch Taiwan” by Paul V. Kane to Hillary. Clinton replied, “I saw it and thought it was so clever. Let’s discuss.” Kane suggested the U.S. negotiate to have China write off $1.14 trillion in American debt in exchange for ending U.S. military assistance and arms sales to Taiwan. In Kane’s opinion this would cut American debt, help the economy and keep the U.S. and China from going to war over Taiwan. It’s clear from reading Kane’s piece that he is clueless about Taiwan, as well as how China’s economy would be affected by such a massive write off. The WikiLeaks emails did not show whether Clinton actually discussed the article. ------------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your best source for real news. Death by caffeine: South Carolina teen died of cardiac arrest from too much caffeine - TomoNews

07:35
CHAPIN, SOUTH CAROLINA — A South Carolina teen is dead after a deadly combo of caffeinated drinks triggered a fatal issue in his normally healthy heart. NBC reports that Davis Allen Cripe collapsed in class on April 26, and died just an hour later. The 16-year-old had multiple caffeinated drinks that day, including a large diet Mountain dew, a cafe latte, and an energy drink, all of which he drank within two hours. An autopsy revealed that he died from a caffeine-induced cardiac event, which was probable arrhythmia, otherwise known as abnormal heart rhythm. According to the Mayo Clinic, a healthy adult can safely consume as much as 400 milligrams of caffeine daily, equivalent to either four cups of coffee, 10 colas, or three to five energy drinks. But for teens aged 13 to 18, the recommended daily intake is only 100 milligrams — that’s a cup of coffee, three colas, or one energy drink. Caffeine prompts the release of the stress hormone norepinephrine, too much of which can cause rapid or irregular heart rate. Not enough blood is pumped into the body as a result, thus damaging or shutting down the brain and other organs. People who have died from caffeine overdoses also experienced seizures, with some reportedly choking on their own vomit. Caffeine does have certain good benefits, and the vast majority consume it with no negative effects. But experts warn that it should be taken in moderation, especially for kids and adolescents. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Cell regeneration: Nanochip can regrow organs, heal injuries with just one touch - TomoNews

08:31
COLUMBUS, OHIO — Researchers at Ohio State University have developed new technology that allows the body to generate any type of cell to help heal injuries. According to a university press release, the technique, called tissue nanotransfection or TNT, uses a fingernail-sized nanochip which is placed over a patient's skin or tissue. A droplet containing genetic material is placed on top of the chip, and then zapped with an electrical current. The DNA is delivered through channels created by the current, and it reprograms skin cells to turn into specific cell types that can then be used in other parts of the body. When tested on a mouse with a damaged leg, researchers found vascular cells converted from skin cells formed new blood vessels that allowed the leg to heal in two weeks. The non-invasive technology was also able to generate nerve cells in the legs of brain-damaged mice. Once the cells were harvested, they were injected into the brain to help with stroke recovery. The nanochip also tested effectively in pigs and is expected to be approved for human trials within a year. The team's research has been published in the journal Nature Nanotechnology. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Hyperloop One test: World’s first full-size hyperloop test in Las Vegas - TomoNews

03:53
LAS VEGAS — Hyperloop One announced last week that it plans to execute a full test within the next three months at Apex Industrial Park in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The test run will cover 500 linear meters, said Nick Earle, the company’s senior vice president of global field operations. “It will levitate, catch the right speed and slow down,” Earle said. “Then what we’ll do, is over the next few months extend that into a few kilometers,” he said. In May 2016, the company successfully tested its levitating electromagnetic motor on an open air sled, reaching speeds of 116 mph, according to Wired. Earle also told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the company is planning to have a full Hyperloop system ready to transport freight by 2020. The hyperloop is based on the idea by Elon Musk of levitating pods that would travel in near-vacuum tubes at speeds of over 700 mph, powered by an electric propulsion system, according to Wired. According to Musk’s calculations, a hyperloop trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles would take only 36 minutes, Wired reported. ------------------------------------------------------- For news that's fun and never boring, visit our channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomoNewsUS Subscribe to stay updated on all the top stories: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt-WqkTyKK1_70U4bb4k4lQ?sub_confirmation=1 Visit our website for all the latest, uncensored videos: http://us.tomonews.net Check out our Android app: http://bit.ly/1rddhCj Check out our iOS app: http://bit.ly/1gO3z1f Stay connected with us here: Facebook http://www.facebook.com/TomoNewsUS Twitter @tomonewsus http://www.twitter.com/TomoNewsUS Google+ http://plus.google.com/+TomoNewsUS/ Instagram @tomonewsus http://instagram.com/tomonewsus -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Drone beats ambulance in delivering defibrillators to people suffering heart attacks - TomoNews

05:53
TROLLHATTAN, SWEDEN — Swedish researchers have tested using drones to deliver automated external defibrillators to those suffering cardiac arrest. In many cases, patients are too far away from hospitals to seek immediate treatment, and drones could be a faster way to help them. Researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden attached an AED to an eight-rotor drone. The drone has autopilot and GPS functions and is painted a fluorescent color similar to ambulances to help people visually locate it. The trial was conducted in Norrtälje, a rural area near Stockholm. The drone was able to deliver the AED in just over 5 minutes, whereas the median dispatch time for an emergency ambulance was 22 minutes, the New Scientist reported. According to the American Heart Association, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests take place in the U.S. each year but only about 10 percent of patients survive. Their chances of survival reduces by 10 percent every minute without CPR and defibrillation, according to the New Scientists. “If we can decrease the time in cardiac arrest from collapse to defibrillation by a few minutes, hundreds of lives would be saved each year,” Jacob Hollenberg Hollenberg at Karolinska Institute told the New Scientist. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. British model Chloe Ayling kidnapped to be sold for prostitution, gets released - TomoNews

02:38
MILAN — A 20-year-old English woman who was drugged and held captive for six days and nearly put up for auction in the sex trade has been freed by her kidnappers Chloe Ayling, who has 161,000 followers on Instagram, had travelled to Milan for a photoshoot arranged by her agent on July 10. Ayling was to meet the photographer behind the shoot the next day, but when she arrived at the specified apartment, she was jumped by two men, and drugged. Belongings left scattered on the floor of the apartment suggest she was stripped of her clothing. Ayling was then stuffed in a suitcase, locked in the trunk of a car, and driven 120 miles to a farmhouse in Turin. Authorities believe her mouth was taped, and her wrists and ankles were tied. When Ayling finally awoke, she claims she found herself alone in a room and handcuffed to a wooden dresser, wearing only a pink jumpsuit and socks. According to The New York Times, Milan police believe her captors may have been planning to sell her on the dark web to the highest bidder. At the same time, they were reportedly demanding a ransom of $300,000 from her agent for her safe return, which was not paid. After being held captive for six days, in an unexpected twist, Ayling was driven to the British consulate in Milan, and dropped off outside. Her captor also left her with a note, detailing that she'd been spared from a life of human trafficking by members of the Black Death group, a nefarious underground network of men rumored to kidnap women and sell them as sex slaves. It is unknown whether the group is indeed real. Either way, the note claims Ayling was the beneficiary of a mistake made in targeting her, in that it was found out she is a mother to a small boy, which supposedly one of the Black Death group's firm restrictions on women they abduct for "business transactions." The following day, police picked up Lukasz Herba, 30, whom they suspect was Ayling's sole kidnapper. On his person, authorities found a pamphlet detailing the terms of the Black Death group. He has been jailed for the investigation of a suspected kidnapping for extortion purposes. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Hyperloop One Colorado: Rocky Mountain Hyperloop route selected for Hyperloop project - TomoNews

06:30
DENVER — Hyperloop One announced Colorado would be one of the 10 finalists in its global competition to identify the best potential Hyperloop routes. The Colorado Department of Transportation is working with the Hyperloop company to carry out a feasibility study for the proposed route between Cheyenne, Denver and Pueblo, Techcrunch reported. The feasibility study could cost up to $1 million and take years to complete, CBS 4 reported. The proposed route would stretch 360 miles and link 10 urban centers around the state, with the potential to connect over 4,800,000 people, according to Techcrunch. A Hyperloop trip from Denver to Pueblo would take 15 minutes, while Denver to Fort Collins would only take 9 minutes. Denver to Vail would also be 9 minutes. Three other U.S. routes were chosen by Hyperloop as finalists: Chicago-Columbus-Pittsburgh, Miami-Orlando and Dallas-Laredo-Houston. Hyperloop One plans for its first functional prototypes to be running as early as 2020. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Daring robbery: Rare gold coin worth millions stolen from Berlin’s Bode Museum - TomoNews

07:58
BERLIN — The world’s second-largest gold coin was stolen from a museum in Germany on Monday by thieves who used some pretty old fashioned methods to get the job done. The “Big Maple Leaf” coin is one of five pure gold commemorative coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2007 and is worth an estimated $4 million. It was stolen from the Bode Museum in Berlin in the early hours by at least two thieves, who used a ladder to enter the building through a rear window, the Guardian reported. The 100-kilogram coin was displayed in a bulletproof glass cabinet. The thieves smashed their way in with a heavy tool, possibly a sledgehammer. The thieves left the museum the same way they came in, and then pushed the coin in a wheelbarrow down railway tracks toward a nearby park. Investigators believe the coin was damaged when the thieves then rappelled down from the railway tracks and made their escape in a getaway car. Police suspect the thieves had inside information because they somehow managed to evade all of the museum’s security guards and alarms. The museum is refusing to reveal just what security it had in place, and the cops fear the coin has already been melted down and sold. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. North Korea escape failure? Ghost ship with remains of 8 people found on Japanese coast - TomoNews

05:24
OGA, JAPAN — Eight bodies were found inside a ship found on a Japanese beach this week. The vessel was discovered in the Sea of Japan close to Oga on the Japanese coast. The Japanese Coast Guard believes it may have come from North Korea. A 68-year-old local resident alerted Japanese authorities to the ship on Monday morning, Kyodo News reported. She reportedly saw it drifting some 300 meters from shore. The coast guard found eight bodies inside the ship, as well as a cigarette packet bearing hangul writing. This leads police to suspect it is North Korean in origin, the Japanese Times reported, citing Kyodo News. The Japan Times reports parts of the bodies were skeletonized, suggesting that the ship was at sea for an extensive amount of time before being found. ------------------------------------------------------------- TomoNews is your best source for real news. Planet 10: Unseen object may have warped Kuiper Belt objects, lurking behind Pluto - TomoNews

08:01
TUCSON, ARIZONA — U.S. scientists have found evidence to support the existence of the unseen Planet 10, which is much closer than the previously reported Planet Nine, a planet that has not yet been fully proven to exist. The Kuiper Belt is a disc-shaped region that contains icy bodies, space rocks and dwarf planets such as Pluto. It is understood that Kuiper Belt objects orbit the sun with an orbital tilt, while those at least some 50 astronomical units away from the sun should not. However, it has been discovered by scientists at University of Arizona’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory that a group of Kuiper Belt objects located between 50 to 80 AU from the sun are tilted away from the invariable plane by eight degrees, suggesting a large object with sufficient gravitational influence is causing the warp. “There is a range of uncertainties for the measured warp, but there is not more than 1 or 2 percent chance that this warp is merely a statistical fluke of the limited observational sample of KBOs," Renu Malhotra, a Regents’ Professor of Planetary Sciences at LPL explains in a press release. The scientists believe the warp is most likely caused by an unseen object, which is possibly as massive as Mars and is orbiting roughly 60 AU from the sun on an orbit tilted by eight degrees to the average plane of the known planets. Planet Nine, the hypothetical planet discovered in 2016, is predicted to be the equivalent of about 10 Earth masses and located between 500 to 700 AU. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Tattoo ink toxic: Study finds tattoo ink may leave particles that affect lymph nodes - TomoNews

06:47
ATLANTA — Tattoo ink may leave microscopic particles that can circulate in the immune system and end up in the lymph nodes, a new study finds. Scientists wanted to determine the effect tattoos had within the body, particularly the lymph nodes, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The study, published in Scientific Reports, examined lymph nodes and skin samples from deceased donors: four with tattoos and two with no tattoos, according to Smithsonian Magazine. Using X-ray fluorescence to identify ink particles and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy to detect biomolecular changes in surrounding tissue, scientists found traces in the subjects with tattooes and none in the lymph nodes of the non-tattooed subjects. They discovered stained lymph nodes in two of the subjects, one with blue ink and one with green. Researchers found elevated levels of metals including aluminum, chromium, iron, nickel and copper in the nodes and skin. The study concluded contamination could lead to chronic enlargement of the lymph nodes and long-term exposure to toxic compounds. The scientists say the next step will be to study what particular health effects ink particles may cause. ------------------------------------------------------------- Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans. Fatal bridge collapse: people fall to their deaths as rope snaps on bridge in Colombia - TomoNews

04:29
VILLAVICENCIO, COLOMBIA — A rickety suspension bridge at a nature reserve near Villavicencio in Colombia collapsed while more than two dozen people were crossing on Monday. Villavicencio is south-east of the capital, Bogota. Hilton Gutierrez of the mayor's office in Villavicencio said that the collapse was due to excess weight, as roughly 30 people were on the bridge when a rope snapped, causing the bridge to give way to one side, according to the BBC. The bridge hangs about 10 meters high. Several people were able to hang onto the side of, but at least seven people, including three children, 9news reported. President of the Meeting for Communal Action on the Carmen Bridge, Miguel Antonio Caro, said on peak weekends, as many as 13,000 people would walk across the unmonitored bridge in the forest reserve in El Carmen, at a cost of less than US$1, 9news reported. As Jan. 9 was public holiday, the area was a busy attraction, with many drawn to view the local waterfall, CNN reported. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and are looking to charge parties responsible for the poor maintenance of the bridge. Several of the surviving victims reportedly remain in critical condition. ------------------------------------------------------- For news that's fun and never boring, visit our channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomoNewsUS Subscribe to stay updated on all the top stories: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt-WqkTyKK1_70U4bb4k4lQ?sub_confirmation=1 Visit our website for all the latest, uncensored videos: http://us.tomonews.net Check out our Android app: http://bit.ly/1rddhCj Check out our iOS app: http://bit.ly/1gO3z1f Stay connected with us here: Facebook http://www.facebook.com/TomoNewsUS Twitter @tomonewsus http://www.twitter.com/TomoNewsUS Google+ http://plus.google.com/+TomoNewsUS/ Instagram @tomonewsus http://instagram.com/tomonewsus -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Help me! Man stuck inside ATM has to slip notes through receipt slot begging for rescue - TomoNews

07:57
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — A Texas contractor found himself held captive by a cash machine and had to go old school to get out. KRIS-TV reports that the worker was changing the locks for the ATM vestibule when he was locked in because he left his swipe card in the truck. Poor fella also left his phone, so he couldn’t call for help. But, the ATM was working just fine, and what he did have was a pen and paper. He resorted to slipping notes through the receipt slot, begging people to ‘Please help. I’m stuck in here, and I don’t have my phone. Please call my boss.’ Unfortunately, everyone who got the note thought it was a bizarre joke, and the worker was stuck for two hours until someone took it seriously enough to call the cops. Even the cops didn’t think it was for real, despite hearing a little voice coming from the machine. Still, they eventually came to the man’s rescue, kicking down the door to finally get him out. Now there’s a man who’s never been so happy to get away from a cash machine. Ghost photobombs: Ghost appears in Georgia teenager’s selfie after fishing trip - TomoNews

06:46
ADEL, GEORGIA — A teenage girl from Georgia got a tingle down her spine when she checked her photos from a recent fishing trip. Haley Ogletree, 13, was taking a selfie last week when she was photobombed by a ghost, according to a Facebook post by her mom, Jessica. Haley and her brother Kolton had gone fishing with their grandparents to celebrate the boy’s birthday. According to their mom, Kolton caught the biggest fish, like EVER!, so maybe the ghost was happy for him. Seems like the photobomb phantom appeared when Kolton was packing the fishing tackle box back in the trunk. Haley’s mom said her son didn’t notice anyone standing there and there were no other people around that day. So there couldn’t possibly be any other explanation for how the man appeared in the photo. Mmmm ... could there? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Go to https://www.patreon.com/tomonews and become a Patron now TomoNews is now on Patreon and we've got some cool perks for our hardcore fans.
