This was by far the biggest project this channel has ever taken on. It was almost a month of planning, building, filming and editing!!! The end result was a MASSIVE LIQUID SAND POOL! This particular science phenomenon takes advantage of what is called a “fluidized bed”. These are mostly used in industrial applications the process combines a pressurized fluid (a liquid or a gas) and forces into a solid like sand or dust. This combination makes these solid particles act like a fluid. The feeling of falling back into dry sand that acts like a liquid is very strange and in some ways very relaxing. The sensation is somewhat like what you think floating in Jello would feel like, however, because it’s totally dry you feel super comfortable! This particular video was made so much more fun because of the SMOSH squad, Jordan of “Captain Sparklez” and the Pocket.Watch team (of which has the best clip in the video face planting into the sand pool). The Pocket Watch team, in particular, made this possible with helping me fund the entire project, so big thank you and make sure to take a look at their channel for some footage not seen in this video! Also, big shout out to Mark Rober for coming up with this original liquid sand concept. I learned a lot from this experiment, specifically what all the parts of the egg look like once preserved in soda. And if you like learning as much as I do head over to The Great Courses Plus for your free trial. You will certainly enjoy the vast quantity of video assets to absorb knowledge! Science Team! We did an experiment that took a full calendar YEAR! I’ve wanted to do this particular experiment for a long time, but obviously it took some time (a year actually) I was so surprised by the results of the Crystal Clear Pepsi egg in comparison to the Coke egg. I will also say the smell was outrageous; it smelled like rotting soda… because well it was. The Great Courses Plus is currently available to watch through a web browser to almost anyone in the world and optimized for the US, UK and Australian markets. The Great Courses Plus is currently working to both optimize the product globally and accept credit card payments globally. Colored Fire Flame Thrower: Breathe Fire Like A Dragon

I partnered up with Skybound Games to make a new mini series all about the mobile RPG Summoners War. In each video we will take a look at an aspect of the game and dive into the science behind it. In this video we dive into different colored fire and how to breathe like a dragon. The two colors we produced were neon pink and green. We did this by dissolving lithium from batteries (to make pink) and boric acid (to make green) in 99% pure methanol. Our first build using a plastic tube and a wooden ramp didn’t work out so hot. With the power of YouTube I researched one of my favorite YouTubers Grant Thompson and looked at a build he made called the “Mini Flame Thrower”. His build was genius and worked like a charm! Big shout out to Grant for coming up with that idea! Also, the mini flamethrower worked far better than expected. It threw fire exactly like how I imagine a dragon does! Liquidized Sand Machine

SUBSCRIBE!: https://www.youtube.com/nickipedia SHARE THIS VIDEO: https://youtu.be/A7slq3f2lJU Science Team! This is one of the strangest science-phenomenon I’ve ever worked with! Liquidized sand is so strange. It’s nothing more than a fluid (nitrogen gas in our case) forced into a solid (like sand) resulting is the solid acting like a fluid! This video was inspired by Mark Rober’s new video Liquid Sand Hot Tub: https://youtu.be/My4RA5I0FKs I highly recommend you check out that video and his channel, he’s got some really cool videos! For our build we used the following 1. ¾ inch red type copper pipe 2. T type nitrogen cylinder 3. Glass beads from Grainger 4. Plastic container from Home Depot (ours was about 2 feet long, 1 ft deep, 1 ft wide) 5. Noshok needle valve ¼ NPT M-F 6. 580 adapter (for nitrogen cylinder) 7. Brass fittings (all ¾) from Home Depot to fit 580 adapter to needle valve to brass nipple (the thing that goes in the clear tubing) Music: Intro: Evan_Schaeffer_-_05_-_Portal Evan_Schaeffer_-_02_-_Bright_Side Evan_Schaeffer_-_17_-_Bounce Evan_Schaeffer_-_19_-_Big_Splash Ryan_Andersen_-_06_-_Think_About_It Follow Nickipedia Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/nickuhas Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/nickuhas Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/uhasbrand Nickipedia Website: http://www.NickipediaLive.com Production Team: Writer/Producer: Nick Uhas

My best friend Mike Cappetta and I took a 3-day journey across the world (literally on the other side of the planet from LA) to experience one the strangest and fascinating natural occurrences, the Indonesian Blue Fire! I will admit that I’ve seen some wild things in my life, but this ranks in the top 3. I’m actually making a much longer version of my entire trip and will release that on YouTube as well. There were so many great moments on my 10-day trek to Mt.Ijen with Mike. Dissolving Fruitcake In Piranha Solution

Pocket Watch Collab Video: https://youtu.be/K0qkMCVRRBQ SUBSCRIBE!:https:/www.youtube.com/nickipedia SHARE THIS VIDEO: https://youtu.be/Gje03ZuoyLw Check Out Pocket Watch Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCElkh4b877xBOLlRX_6o2ag Science Team! This video is a little bit longer than usual, but we had such great footage I wanted to share it all! I paired up with Pocket Watch (Jetta and Vitaly) to dissolve some fruitcake and “warm up” items (sponges and Styrofoam). Piranha solution is some really gnarly stuff. It’s used in the lab to dissolve organic substrates, which basically means it’s used to get rid of anything that was alive or is alive! Piranha solution is basically a real life breaking bad chemical. You get this incredible reactive solution by mixing a high-grade acid like our 93% sulfuric acid with high concentrate hydrogen peroxide (ours is 35%). The result is a super oxidizing solution. The combination creates an incredibly active oxygen molecule that attacks carbon molecules and hence carbon bonds. These carbon bonds are what holds the fruit cake together, with out them we have a soupy charred mess and that’s exactly what we ended up with. And while we can’t see it some of the carbons making up the fruitcake have turned into carbon dioxide and floated away!
